PDS - Ash has mild running nose today, hopefully he will recover by Fri so that he can go for the class on Sat!

Pre-Nursery - I drove past St James Kindergarden this morning and i liked the environment! Very child-friendly and they even have a outdoor pool. But looking at the number of toddlers on the waiting list, guess no chance for Ash to enter liao.....

Just my contribution:
Montessori is simply another teaching methodology that involves the child to practise taking manipulatives out in a stipulated manner, playing with the equipment meaningfully (e.g. seriation, ordering etc.) before placing the toy back to its original state. Children are taught rules in a montessori setting. E.g. they are assigned a particular equipment and are not suppose to fight with a child working on another piece of equipment. However, they may change the equipment when the child finishes. Hence, some children grow to be more self centred. However, maria montessori's environment actually works towards having no levels (.e.no K1 or N2) all children are in a similar setting and they learn from each other peacefully. This way, they learn their social skills. A point to note is that there is only 1 pure montessori school in SG, along River valley road and if u intend to send your child in, the principal will only take the child at 24 or 31 months, if i remember correctly. Teachers are purely observers and they do not talk much.
Most of montessori schools in SG are classified as mondern montessori school. They are not the same.

High scope environment schools are most commonly seen in SG. They are supported by the environment in our country and suits the lifestyles and demands of Primary syllabus best.

For mummies intending to send ur children to hd cc, be prepared that they might fall sick more frequently as cc tend to have slightly sick chn all the time. Overtime, they will build up their resistence tho.
Also, u gotta be ready for the baby (our big 18 months old) to cry if they are left in the school alone. Cos they will know u r leaving. some children will be intriguied by the surroundings and are ok for the 1st week. Thereafter, the effects set in. They will cry for a period ranging from 1 week to 3 months, depending on their persistence. It's tough to explain to the child at 18 months because langauge and meaning is still vague to them. They might understand the words, but when the effects set in, they are unable to regulate their emotions.
When they have language at ard 24 months - 31 months, they will be better able to understand and let go, their emotions can be settled more easily if the child is secure to begin with. If the child has an issue with insecurity, it's a different matter. No doubt the child might still cry, but it will typically be much shorter.
This is not to deter u from sending ur child to cc, but to let the ladies here know that u gotta get ur hearts prepared. (I've seen people who cried more than their child.)

Wow... so much input on the CC stuff! Okie, Gillian, me will be prepared with the amt of crying & sickness when i send her to childcare at 18mths!

Okie, went to see the PD this noon. Like what Mambobb's PD, she also told me that Claire's constipation is most likely due to diet. Quite informative session today...

She told me that different toddlers might have different reaction to food. Thus, everything in moderation, and sometimes oats might cost constipation. But i guess the most effective way is Prune juice & papaya.

Now, the solution is to clear all the hard stools from her system (PD says need 1-2 weeks to clear). So, she prescribed an oral medication and gave me Friso Comfort together with her FM.

If the problem persists, she might refer Claire to a specialists for an X-ray on her stomach. Coz my Mum din tell me properly that the bleeding is not due to her anus tearing. PD checked that her anus is not torn or sore.....

That totally freaked me out! Anyway, i hope Claire's hard stools will purge out fast.

thks for sharing - i also hv to start prep myself to let C go at 18m and endure her crying - coz she still very clingy to us and like to cry buckets when she dun see us. my coligs oso shared the same sentiments, she harden her heart and left her dotter there and go, din even turnaround to look at her when she cried n stretched out her hands! wah piangs... i thk i will also cry on the way out of the CC!!!

hope your C poo issue can be resolved soon. really heartpain when see them poo in pain! the other time my C had constipation and we tried to encourage her to poo (also big gorli), she cried so much my hb said it's like she's in "LABOUR"! after poo, her whole head/hair sweat... ahahaa...

hope you can resolve your financial issues at home wif hubby. i think u paid a lot leh... no wonder so thin lah - so much worry!!
my hb pay for utilities, tv license/cable, his bike/petrol, some groc (when he buys during wkdays) and treats when we go out on weekends.

he also contribute certain $ for household expenses - which i use to buy for weekly groc, household items, milk powder/diapers/babyfood, etc. hv to bargain for it after we got married then he contribute so now he every mth will guai guai give me that allowance lor. else i black face to him + willl nag n nag n nag! ahahaa... :p

okie, talk to u ladies later... now half way cooking C's porridge for breakfast/lunch to bring over to nanny's!

Yalor, very heartpain to see Claire in pain when pooing especially my Mum.. She even better ask PD whether the constipation due to lack of oil in her diet. PD immediately says no such thing!

Ya. Several of my friends send their kids to Montessorri and said that both parents and kids like it. But maybe they dun try other pre-schools. I think Montessori quite ex also. If I send my kids there, think I have to cut down expenses on myself.

Tot I can see u at the hi-tea the other day. My no.2 ok likes me to sleep on my left side, so now can sleep on 1 side only. Can't feel Kallang wave yet but feel likes ranter snake tail in my tummy at times.

Ashlyn got bitten on her arm in school. when i ask her who bite u, she turn and look at her bf in school. today i ask the principle, they will check and let me know but apparently, Ashlyn and her bf play together most of the time cos they are almost the same age.

i took photo and video... my colleagues say look like love bite..ah yo...

Any of the babies here still doesnt know how to call mummy & daddy yet? my girl turns 14mths today and still doesnt have a word from her mouth yet. But she can recongise objects thou.. do I need to worry?

k@ye: Ya hopes Claire will feel better soon. Just reminds me of my own bad constipation after birth. With that wound down there and all the heaty confinement food, it was bad for the 1st week after delivery. I had to keep drinkg prune juice.

catherine, Does Jovan have enough nap last 2 days? A only nap at 11 am for abt 1 hr the whole day. Last night she KO after drinking milk at 8pm, slept till 7 plus this morn!
 
mambo, u try teaching C to say 'Papa' and 'Mama' instead of daddy/mummy. Both my kiddos started calling us this way. but when Favian could speak clearly, he changed and calls my hb 'daddy'. so u see they can adjust as time comes. But funny thing is he still likes to call me Mama.
Now M still calls us Papa/mama but she can point to the correct person if we ask her where's daddy or mummy?

Speech:
G can say mama and papa, but only when he feels like it. Other than that can also say xiexie, jiejie, dirty, apple, pear, roo (kangaroo), per (diaper), bubble..he can also make a few animal sounds like dog-woof woof, cow-moo, pig-snort (but sounds more like ah pei spitting..haha)

BUT He is still not walking!! Can walk but refuse to walk...sigh..

And guess what, last night we saw that he has sprouted another 2 more teeth! So now he has 14 teeth liao. Faints.
 
MM: I even teach her to say Mama/Papa too but she still refuse to speak lor. thanks for the clip. U hv not informed me the total $. Tmr is my last working day in office b4 cny. Thanks for the well wishes! My Mum just called me and complain abt Claire's poo very frequently and stuff... I know its tiring to clean up after her time and time again... Guess it will be my turn during the weekend!

Mambobb, dun worry abt Cailyn not calling u Mama or Papa okie.... Claire can call but depends on her mood. Also, this little rascal of mine only knows how to call my bro, "fu" coz she loves to play with my bro!

C has 4.5 teeth now but still sprouting stage, growth is like super-slow leh.

Speech: He calls "Daddy" whn he was 8 MO. He also calls his "Nai nai", bibik (my helper) and jie jie but refused to call me. I always repeat and ask him to call "Mummy", he'll look at me and say "Nai nai" and give me a cheeky smile. Purposely one....But recently my MIL bght him a CD with the song "Si Shang Zhi You Ma Ma How", nw he finally calls me "Ma Ma". They'll pick up, eventually.
 
K@ye: Hw come suddenly C poos so much? Doc gave her medication? Hai, my MIL also said coz there's no oil in E's food, so tendency for him to constipate. I told her no lor, hope she din add oil to E's food.
 
k@ye: what medication did the Doc give Claire? The PD I went, usually only gave stool soften niah.. won't like Claire poos so much leh..

Oh, may I know is Fei Zai Shui help on pooing?
 
Cactus, yup doc gave her medication. The medication is called Lactulouse... Dunno i got it rite or not...

Mambobb, this medication supposed to soften stools and she also gave me the bullets to insert at Claire's butt. Not to mention, claire drinking FM with Friso comfort... So poo alot leh...

I think glucose will help in pooing coz sugar helps the stools to absorb water which will soften the stools, making them easy to pass out. But cant give too much coz of the sugar content.
 
Grace: Hope Ashlyn recovers from her "love bite".

Poissons: Aiyo, your G is so farnee...Ethan also purposely don't call me mummy. So sad...and my hubby managed to train him to say "daddy". Now, I'm just called "mama" but my MIL calls herself that leh...so sad. =( Ethan can make a lot of animal sounds (cow - moo, sheep - baa, snake - sss, Lion/tiger/bear - grrr, bee - buzz). Now he can do the hand action for "gong xi gong xi" very well! haha.

Lazykat: PDS called me today to say that you and ZY can come by this week for the trial lesson! Its $45 though...Let me know if you're coming for the lesson ya so that I can confirm?

PDS: I spoke to Chel abt the T-shirts already, she said they will pass to us the stuff this weekend. Waterplay will probably be planned for week 3, weather permitting. Yay!

Michviv, haha.. I think Dr Chan (the pd) likes to play it safe lah... She told me to give the medication - 3 times a day for at least 1 week! Anyway, she did tell me to use my judgement lah...

Btw, for your PDS hor... If waterworks is in Week 3, does it mean next week har? Want to bring Claire for that leh! :p

Claire also knows how to go the hand action "gong xi gong xi" Hehhee, by this action, alot of ang bao coming in! Hahah, can recoup loss! :p

Oh, i think Claire is going to be a disco queen. She dances and shake her head when she hear DANCE MUSIC!! I cant help laughing when i saw her doing that outside, "That CD Shop"

my elder girl attending a montessori kindergarten in hougang central... they may not be as pure as the one smilemum mentioned but they do have quite a bit of montessori characteristics in their curriculum (e.g. mixed age class)

dance class ah, aiya, just those CC ones... hehe, for fun... now learning Samba and Rumba...

but she can follow our commands, e.g. asking her to throw rubbish into the dustbin, pick up things and put on table, etc.

dunno how many she has, but top and bottom front got 4 each and i think all the top and bottom molars are sprouting already... can't really see all as she refuses to open her mouth!

Weishy: My good friend is having her 4th pregnancy and she has got lots more pimples than usual too. Gyn said she saw a little birdie liao. So most likely you have got your little boy! =)

K@ye: I think Friso Comfort cannot be taken on long term basis, once C's constipation is cleared, u've to switch it bk to normal milk.

Cactus, i know cannot take on long term. Will be letting her drink it for 2 weeks lah.... Must find ways to resolve her problem.

PD says can drink fresh milk, take yoghurt to help. She said the fresh milk might be better, she tot my Mum dun let Claire drink. I told her its my hubby that dun want Claire to drink fresh milk!

Oh, Yakult also can help but she dun recommend coz of the sugar content!
 
mummies, can i ask, for insect bites rite, what can we apply for our babies ah? i use tea tree oil but the bite one week liao, very big patch, and got a "hard" centre. dunno if need to be worried or not? then think, bring her go c doc like very "da jing xiao guai" :p

and then yesterday nite, she got slight fever ... hope she recovers soon.

weishy, gongxi gongxi... Me still can't tell yet cos usually complexion is better for me during winter. But hope it means a gal gal. But this preg, I always feel hungry and tired, unlike for Matt. Nowadays, I go to bed tog with Matt at 9 plus. Not sure if it is due to winter, cos usually winter, I sleep more and eat more too.
 
Dreamer, u go to any chinese medicial hall or pharmacy and ask them! The packaging is Green and with the brand name in Red.

Got another type of oil hor, we called it "smelly oil"... Very effective one, apply on the skin, all types of insects dun even dare to come near them.

Tinkabel, its normal lah.. Nothing to do with the baby gender. Winter is the time where we tend to eat & sleep more (hibernation)... Plus u re pregnant leh... the effect will be doubled? Just rest as much as u can, eat well & dun be stressed over by ur job!

Yesterday got the call from the nanny straight aft my work. She said Cailyn seem like having fever. Went down to fetch her straight away and fever hit 38.7C...

brought her to see PD and she was so clingy and not in good mood yesterday. Kept crying and want to find comfort on me... so sad to see her in this state.

This morning her fever subsided abit liao. Hopefully she recovers today.
 
Mozzie Bites:
Normally I apply GAIA lotion on the bites. My nanny will apply the zambuk too on the big hard bites.. sometimes with WuBiGao. But I think WuBiGao is not that good coz it will blacken the spot and not easy to fade away.

NOwadays I will try to apply the GAIA lotion on C to prevent the mozzie bites on her. The product claims that it will prevent lah. So far so good lor.. finger cross.
