Wah happy,
u make me so motivated to give aaron the straw cup.
I bought it months back but have not given to him yet as he doesn't even know how to use the sippy cup.
Having hear wat you say, I will go back and try my luck on the straw cup hopefully he doesn't like the sippy cup and can manage the straw instead

When it comes to speaking, aaron can only ask "what is this" and "mmm mmm" when we ask him wat the cow says.
However, he is picking up all the junk words, whenever he sees something he knows he will give a loud "hey", whole day juz "hey", "hey", "hey", or "e", "e" or "aiya aiya aiya"...
Sad to say, i tink these words all come from me

same here...my bb doesn't seem to want to drink from straw..will try to give her my drink but she'll bite it and smile at me. i tried giving her taste the water/drink from the bottom of the straw and let it flow but she wants to play with it. hmm..

re: talking
i wonder if talking and teeth has any relation. so far Eliza's saying 'bear', 'ba', 'eh' and 'ah's. not saying any other words yet. her top two teeth is just sprouting! yays! finally. ha..

is it when babies are growing their teeth, their appetite decreases? my mil complains that Eliza won't want to eat her porridge after a few spoons. but she'll drink her milk & want the food we eat. worried she's sick of her porridge.

we hv similar parenting styles, even tho mine is a princess, but a garang one, so i also let her explore n of course fall a few times, but daddy heartpains so now our coffee table and edge is wrapped up with towels! (ugly!) All the edge bumpers that we bought (both safety 1st and lucky baby, cos fren say 3M ones more sticky) all got thrown away cos she will simply pull them all out!

Yr boy so smart, bicycle.. mine still at 2 syllabus, though quite precise. The only time she shouted papa and mama was when she wants us to get her out of the cot.

actually i din really teach, juz toss her the bottle with straw, like wat happy say, they are far smarter than we think they are. Even if the first few tries are unsuccessful, just keep on trying and encouraging them to "suck". But i did it first with spouts that is why the transition to straw is easier cos they know they have to "suck" in order to reach the water. It takes at least 1-2 wks to master the spout i remember.

yes, teething cos some discomfort so naturally appetite gets affected. But shld be temporary phase, also sometimes its due to they are more interested in adult food, or simply want to play so refuse to eat anymore.

i kinda miss those gummy grins too.. now she has 1 tooth each at lower and upper gum, looks so farnie when she smiles, ha. My hubby sama as yr hubby, super anxious abt princess, makes me feel like i am bad mummy. But i still think be it gals or boys, shld be brought up similar way that suits their personality.

I told my older maid, she is the one responsible for the household and to teach no. 2 properly. If anything not right, she is the one getting the scolding. Then I told no. 2, learn well coz if she teaches you and don't do properly, I will scold both! I told them, they can help themselves with all the food at home. I will not stinge on that and they will be treated well. All I want is for them to take care of the kids & home well. If they do that, then can get fat bonus!

Talking,
K is speaking loads nowadays. Whenever we put her in the cot and she wants out, she would call everyone she knows. She'll start yelling, daddy, mommy, Yah (short for tiyah for my maid), kor kor, etc... lol. She loves to point at herself saying "peety" meaning pretty... heehee.
 
drinking w/ straw,
K is has been drinking using a straw for a while now. She takes big gulps and saves the biggest mouthful at the end, just so she can spurt it out like merlion! ... haiz... so notty!
So now, I teach her a new trick. Drink and make the sound "ahh" when she put the straw cup down. Heehee .... no more merlion!

Ya.. end day we jus hope they do their job well.. dont give us problem la. if anything wrong, both also must scold. cos if seem to take side, the other sure unhappy one.

Kiros not drinking from straw. but when fed from bottom of straw, he can suck from it. maybe i shld try sippy cup first.
 
skye skye: yes, it can be quite painful when they are teething so appetite can decrease but nothing a little teething gel can't cure. =)

Re Straw: I started early with the straw cos I read that they can learn from 9 months so my boy has mastered the straw already and is now learning to drink from the cup directly. Spills quite a bit so have to get a bib/towel ready. Even then, he finds it funny to spill all the water everywhere. So notti! Didn't really teach regarding the straw, just passed the straw bottle to him and he figured it out like ZY. Be prepared for some choking noises initially but they learn to take quick sips and then long sips later. hehe.

K is such an adorable gal - i can still remember the pic you posted of her curls... so sweet!
and she is also good in her speech; can say so many words and understand you correctly.

i'm still trying my best to be a good mommy (coz i know i'm super lazy now that i'm pregnant

bad excuse though.) and try to teach chloe to understand what we are trying to say or teach her to say but so far her attention span so short and she just wana do things her way. quite tough ah...

i shld learn yr method too, my notti gal also purposely let the water flow out by taking a big gulp of water! Which is why we alternate with beaker now.
 
Yany, kudos to you for your 2 yr target...kekeke. now that i hv passed the 1 yr target, i dunno how long more i can survive. hahaha. actually not too much of a hassle, jus that i might stop expressing or jus once a day at most. will jus let it be.

RE: bb drinking from straw

there is really no way to 'teach' them. we jus need to keep giving them the cups and let them explore. Mischa started using straw cups since 7mths old and now she likes to drink from cups too. except that there is of course spills here and there. but i only let her drink plain water from cups/straw so cleaning up is not a problem. hopefully she can move on to using cups to drink milk unlike my son who still took to the milk bottle till quite old. So each bb's development is really different. No need to worry so much

Actually, I think K is picking up words as we speak to her often pointing out things. Today, she just pointed out my pig candle and went... "pig"!

Yes... I took a drink and how her dramatically how to swallow the water and end with a "ahhh" with mouth open!... Then she did it... and I clapped and wow... so she followed suit everytime now

Mine will drink from e straw but most of the time after a few sips, will suck in a lotta water and spit out. =)

Jaydyn likes to make the "kor kor" sound. Sometimes she will keep saying "kor kor kor kor". Then I'll tell her you are the "jie jie", u dun hv a kor kor. haha! Then she will call out to people by making the sound "eh". Sometimes I think she calls me "Neh Neh" dunno why. haha! She will also say "Mum Mum". Tt's abt it! haha! Some of yr kids are reali so advanced in talking. wow wow!

Dreamer, yaya... Its quite funny at times... to see her saw that.. but can get on the nerves when i tried to feed her water~!

Yany, Kyra so funny... Whenever we put a hairclip on Claire, we will say she s mei mei (in cantonese).. Then she wont take out the hairclip.. And now whenever we ask her, where mei mei... She will point to her hair!

wow all ur babies are so advanced! either walking and/or talking already! and drinking from straw/cup. Jovan quite slow leh. he has limited vocab - "daddy", "ma ma" for mummy, "neh neh" for milk, "mum mum" for food & the occasional repetition of wat we just said to him. he likes to go "da da da" for everything else. he can walk when one of us hold his hand, but he walks like a drunkard even when we hold his hand. hahaha. AND he's still drinking water from a teat. occasionally i give him straw over the weekend. he can suck but he always let the water flow out of his mouth instead of drinking it. then his top will be all wet.

Ya, I think babies are realising their names and their place in this world. Just asked Ethan this morning," Who is Ethan?" and he pointed to himself! haha. So cute!

Michviv, my samseng gal knows how to climb up and down the stairs but if the stairs are too high to climb down... She wont climb!

straw:

i gave him the straw and told him to suck and do the action for him to see, a few times and he knows how, of cos initially water will comes out and mess their clothes and they will get choke too, not to worry, process of learning, so if you want them to do something, it will be messy and just have to clean up lor, if not then like i said, parents are the obstacle to their kids' development, really messy then place bib or place them outside the house and let them mess it up, if this cannot, that cannot then they will not learn lor, easier said than done, alot of times, i also stressed up by the mess but keep telling your kid that they are so clever, know how to do this and that, even though all kids their age already know, they loves praises, messy is okay, enjoy the mess, take a camera and snap up the mess, maybe while cleanin the mess, get very fed up but when you look at the photos or recall his messy look,you cannot help but smile or laugh, that's life.

After his flu okay, i am going to let him use the crayons and draw tailman, got to go and buy plastic sheets to protect floor first, and train him to eat by himself liao, that one more messy, i think i will faint, hope i can be determine and not just say say :)

my son also walks like yours , nothing wrong leh, average and very very normal leh but like this very clever liao. dun you think so :) compare to my nephew, my son is slower but I still think that is becos my nephew is very clever but still my son is clever enough leh :)hope that they will continue to be this clever and gets more and more clever, keeps telling him he is a clever boy and he really will be a clever boy leh.

For the cake, maybe we can order from e-creative?

For the food, if there's an average of 3 persons each, then we'll have 32 adults and 16 babies, I think it's better to have potluck.

Each can bring an item sufficient for 32 adults. for the babies, think all mummies need to cook ya?

And also could be slightly late to find a caterer.

today's Bevis' actual bdate, last night i actually bake a cake for her... 1st time doing frosting for a cake! a bit messy... hehe... will post photos when i d/l it...
celebrated with her (again) this evening... sang bday song to her and she was sitting on the chair smiling away! too bad she doesn't know how to blow candles yet, jie-jie blew it for her!

For catering, as long as its ordered 3 days in advance. As for potluck, i need you ladies help lor.
=> Catering budget : Most likely to be $12-$15 per person (let me know)

2. Food for Babies
If u all dun mind, i can cook a BIG pot of porridge for the babies. But mine is the Cantonese thick thick congee pork stock with carrot hor... HHEhee... Let me know okie...

3. Gift Exchange cum Birthday Gift for babies

Do we need this for our babies? Catherine has asked Jovan to make cards for the rest of the kiddos!
