(2007/11) November MTBs

Hello mummies! Just got back from a conference. =) Happy Birthday in advance to ZY & Mischa! Must show pictures of your cakes ok?

S@L: Thanks for the link! I spotted you in class. hehe. How much did she charge for the course? Think the class in Nov is full liao. aw well...

Catherine: The park is opposite Radin Mas Primary School. Its elevated on the hill and the baby swings are at the top! haha. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.

RE Preschool
Weishy: It really depends on where you're stayin as well as proximity is one important factor. I've gone through all the preschools in my area (queenstown) and have shortlisted to 2 - Little Skool House (LSH) on the Vista & Carpe Diem Kidz. Intend to start Ethan on half-day childcare at LSH once he turns 18 months. Then will switch to kindergarten once he turns 3 or 4. Depends cos I'm on waitlist on Nanyang as well cos my hubby is an alumni so maybe got chance. (Langlao, I can hi-5 you!) haha and they have classes for Nursery 1. OR else, I'm hoping to sign up at Maris Stella Kindergarten (but they only accept when kid turns 4). I've heard St James is very good but alas, the waiting list is too long liao so I've given up hope there. =P

Michviv, me suaku... U mean Nanyang pri got pre school also ah??

Told my hubby that i intend to send Claire to Red Swastika Pri at Bedok... So hor, we intend to move to Bedok when the 5 yr restriction is up on our redhill flat! As a parent, the only thing i can do is to ensure that my child gets into a good primary school! For sec sch onwards, it all depends on the child liao!

HEhe, sometimes it does help to think ahead!
happy.gif

michviv,
is there any website that list all the pre-schools in S'pore? aiyo...garreth is on the wait list for st james and is quite long so i better think of alternatives first. my nephew (borned this yr) on the other hand, already secured a seat cos' his elder sis studied there (juz graduated this yr)...sigh..

k@ye: Yup! Nanyang has a preschool also. http://www.nanyangkindergarten.com/home.html
I agree with you about the primary school. Me and hubby have been thinking about it too. But quite lucky cos my hubby is an alumni of Nanyang primary so should be able to get Ethan in there. *keeping fingers crossed*

poissons: yup! There is! But this is only for childcare centres registered with MCYS that offer childcare + kindergarten (http://www.childcarelink.gov.sg/ccls/home/ChdCccSrch.jsp). For centres that function as a kindergarten only (eg: St James, Nanyang etc.) you can find it under this list under MOE website: http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/preschool/find-a-kindergarten/ (You can either search by name or postal code). Wah! Your nephew very lucky to have another sibling already there. Maybe you can argue that you're a relative. =)

Hope this info helps!

Weishy, ya... Coz in Bedok got 2 schools, one is Red Swastika the other one is Temasek (me is alumni)... but i want Claire to be more chinese edu... So Red Swastika lor!!

Coz hor, i see my bro & a neighbour son (both from Red Swastika) quite polite one... Haha

K@ye:coming up would be maha bodhi primary at bedok, they building it now,i like that school tat school but stay too far looooooooooooooo
sad.gif

will be renovating my parents at telok blangah so we can meet up more often loooo hehehheheh

Thanks michviv and weishy..hehe..really must start to kiasu liao..

michviv,
yah, i did tried to pull strings through my sis, but cannot leh..only siblings can "cut queue".

thanks everyone for the greetings in advance, Happy Bday to Mischa too!

For some weird reason, Zee Yann refuses to sleep earlier, and i was complaining to hubby that it coincides with my suffering @ TMC - a year has passed since!

Michviv, k@ye, poissons, weishy,
aiyo, me hvnt even looked around for any playgroup, but i do agree must be nearby the vicinity else the travelling kills. Too bad only the grandparents are from Red Swastika, so not within my radar.

wow, mummies here very ON !! already thinking of kindergarten and primary schools!!! 8-P

i never really think about this ....i was thinking if we r back in sg, then whichever primary school near whichever neighbourhood we are staying, she will go there.... i think my primary school close down liao ......hehehe... not sure abt hubbie's tho' .... wow, mebbe i should be abit more on abt this.... ;)

Happy Birthday to ZY & Mischa!!!!

Oops HAPPI BIRTHD@Y MISHA

i have a question on kiwi .... our little ones can eat the seeds of the kiwi? so far i haven't fed kaira the seeds ... but errr ...think they should be able to take it rite?

mummies who have fed their babies kiwi ... can share with me? thanks!!

hi dreamer,
i fed chloe kiwi recently, just mash up a few slices and feed direct. the seeds are good as it helps her in her bowel movement ~ she's the type that pass motion once every 2 days!
happy.gif

n we can hi-5 on being lazy mums... i probably will register my gal at the neighbourhood pre-school/kindie/primary coz travelling is a BIG problem. even for the childcare center i'm eyeing, need to be within walking distance to my place and HOPEFULLY along the same route to the nanny's place since we hv to send/fetch her & her sibling daily. if one east and one west, surely we will kena the $10 penalty every day for picking her up late after 7pm!!
happy.gif

and my HB is not so particular abt going to those famous school coz surely the Q is snaking long - one of my colig has already put down her dotter's name in one pre-school and her dotter is only due later this month!! i salute her lah... :p

Re: pre schools

i will send Leroy to Barker Road Methodist Church Kindergarten when he is of age. As for primary schools, we are both members of the the alumni ( ACS & MGS ) so we are lucky. no need to fret..

nanyang kindergarten:

my sis call to enquire for his boy this year and the waiting list is 400 over students, heard that some of the pregnant mummies called up and wanted to waitlist when bb in their stomach :)

Hi Ladies,

Long time I didn't log on and so much to read!!! Gosh!!!

Regards to Nanyang Kindergarten,
My older son is there after waited for a year. Then when finally went in, I don't see what is so great about the school. Now that they are building a new school... worse. Want us to donate & donate... everything also have to pay & pay. So, end up sending my 2nd boy at Gracehouse near my place. I much prefer this school. I love the communication booklet. With Nanyang, the kids come home with a piece of paper pinned to their shirt!

Weishy, really ah Maha Bodhi going to move to Bedok ah?? Hmm, another school on my list!!!

Dreamer, no choice but to be KS coz i just want Claire to have a good start!

My Mum called me to tell me that Claire has constipation and her anus like got blood... coz the stools too hard for her to poo! And Claire cried while trying to poo! Dunno isit the milk powder too heaty? I m giving her Nan 3.

Guess i might hv to give her yoghurt secretly behind my Mum's back or yakult.

dreamer, I have been feeding hazel kiwi fr sometime and she loves it! esp the golden ones its sweeter. As for the seeds initially I very careful not to give but know I jus scape and give her. But I do see it in her poo poo tink its ok.

Hiaz, she's down wif bronchitis... Any mummys had any exp with bronchitis?

preschool - tink will send her for playgroup as its good for them to interact wif other kids & learn new things. And ya agree wif weishy nowadays the syllabus is not like ours. As for which preshcool mayb a church presch naer my pl... for pri sch I'm an alumni at SCGS so i guess I can send her there :p

yany,

gracehouse? is that the one at bt batok? opposite Hometeams? my nephew still looking for a kindergarten and yet to find one good one in the west and now already Nov :-( wait listing at glory kindergarten, abit run down but heard is good and well established but got to wait list for N2 instead so still have problem to look for one for his N1, grace house is quite new right?

Yany, i also hated schools who kept on asking for donations. And most of the time, the donations dunno go to what facilities and not being used by the kids themselves.

I m a neighbourhood school kid till i go to CJC. Then, i realised now and then got donations. The most disgusting part is our teachers will force us to try to get more donations!

kaye, yany,

in the end parents will donate and filled up the donation card all by themselves using alot of "fake" names. cos they also paiseh to keep asking colleagues and relatives for donations, worse is the donation cards come with pre-printed amount and those amounts can range from $2- $100 so if the $2 column filled up, the kids come to you, you have to chose the next one, sometimes only left $10 or $50 square.

one of my relative loves to do that to us during CNY, her kids in independant school and as relatives that see them once a year, you dun have the heart to reject the young kid lor

kaye,

my PD told me that sometimes if the kid's diet has excessive of fibre, can lead to anus bleeding too, not becos of constipation, but becos the stool will be bulky ( becos of too much fibre) and therefore can tear the anus and cause bleeding so too much and too litte is no good.

fluid very important for the kids, if she dun want plain water, you got to think of adding stuff in to make her drink. i.e barley, ribena, dilluted apple juice etc... or even soup.

K@ye:yup they're building it now and think be ready in one or 2 yrs time.....its a good chinese school,i like it perosnally

About donations......i really dun agree on it unless its a private one.....schools a place for learnign and not becoming more "money faced"....maybe its for upgrading th facilities but not over loooo.......

MAss brithday party THEME
think can make use of our left over party stuffs,
we can list out and see wat we can do with it
simple DIY banner of "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF US?PIGLETS?????"
tat way we can recycle ma(of cos also reduce our $$$ spend this month kekekekkekek)

ueno:good for leroy!!!!!!but u think alumini also need balloting????me only neighbour school so kekkekekekkeke no chance for hayley, she hv to depend on herself looooo :p

zzz:tainan is good chinese school too but tough to get in.....maybe if u stay in marine parade better chance....a fren of mine shift to telok kurau becos of teh school
sad.gif

happy:hayley also constipated.....mayeb too much banana and she's teethign too........been very cranky since day b4......and feverish at 38 degrees

Re: kiwis
I feed my boy with the seeds as well and it's ok..now he prefers the golden kiwis then his apples..haha.

Re: Decor for Nov BBs Bday Bash
I can donate the leftover balloons after my boy's party next Sat..but they are all latex.

weishy,
so did ur fren's kid manage to get in??
i'm staying in marine parade, heard its quite a good sch too but dunno if its true..
bananana will cos constipation??
tot will help??

btw mummies,
can our lil' ones take all fruits/food now??
i still feeding only a small variety of food leh..

zzz,
can lah, i feed my boy with alot of rubbish liao..even bday cakes (he loves ashlyn's bday cake!) steamed eggs, cheese bread..anything..juz want to let him have a taste lah since he's turning 1 yr old soon...let him be more adventurous in food.

Happy ah, the problem with Claire is she refused to drink anything except her milk and mabbe water that is REALLY SWEET!!! I think Claire's problem lies in refusing to drink water.

ZZZ, Taonan is a good school but i heard its quite pressurising lor....

Main purpose to moving to Bedok is coz near my parents' pl! The pri schools are secondary! Hehehe!

poochi/michviv,
thanks for the info on the swing. hopefully i can find it this weekend.

RE: school
wow u mummies are so ONZ abt getting ur kid to the right preschool or pri school. i came from neigbourhood school but i still need to ask donations from my relatives during CNY. it's like a yearly practice liao.

zzz,
i also feed limited variety of food to Jovan. i'm also wondering when can they really eat the same food as us. any mummies can advise? then i dun need to always prepare another food for him

kaye,

then should add more water into her milk, reduce the number of scoops of milk powder, anyway milk is secondary now since on solid, i do that often too when his stool is hard, reduce by one scoop to the same amount of water.

weishy,

my boy also fever, 39.4, luckily went down already, flu lor from stupid maid and still she wanted to argue when i asked her to put on mask, damn angry with her for everything, now i just ignore her, will only speak to her when necessary, wants to change her sooner or later when i have more time.

thought of myanmar but saw from thread that myanmar maids can be very different in culture and communication problems plus not as obedient and hardworking as what we thought, really dunno how??? fed up, tired and stressed up becos of maid, dun even want to see and hear her sound, worse is she loves to talk and make noise.

Happy,Gemini,
Gracehouse quite new. 2 years old so facilities are new and nice. Classes are small hence more interaction between kids & teacher. At Nanyang, my son's class 27 kids to 2 teachers compared to Gracehouse... limited to 15 I think (not too sure). I was most impressed with the K2 graduation recently. They all spoke English & Madarine fluently in their concert. Perhaps its memorized but sounds very, very good!

Hi zzz,

when i last saw the airwalkers on grefio web, i tink i remember seeing it priced at ard $35 each.

my sis did enquire how much they (grefio) charges for inflating balloons. Think the person mentioned $2.50 each.

Now the problem is Grefio dont hve the air walker, i am not sure if i am going to proceed with the balloon thingy with them, as the hotel would hve provided the latex balloons. just so that i thot disney ones would be nice.
