Nov1mum, your cake is nice!! Hope mine will turn out fine as well. Due to the # of guest (all my hubby's fault, he invited the whole world), i "upside" my cake so now it cost a little more too.

k@ye, i was thinking of ordering 100 pax and order canapes as well so shd be enough i hope.

sharon, i already applied leave on 7 Nov so looking forward to the trial.

Grace, wa Clubmed sounds nice leh...still waiting for ash's 1st trip.

any mummies bought stuff fr babycentre before? They dun ship via BDL issit cos the rejected my order. Same for Bath & Body Works. Dunno what happened.

Kitty, I jus wen to blow up my ballons last sat it cost $1.10 for those latex ballons and $1.50 for foil balloons. They do provide the string. But its best to blow on the day of the event if not the balloons dont last till next day.

Jus celebrated her lunar bd wif family and it was really fun.

PG cakes.
As for those getting PG mine turn out ok and was exactly what I wanted and on time. In fact the person we liase wif was rather professional & responded very fast. So dun worry. Will share the pics wif u gals later..

Gillian, dun heart pain lah... I also sometimes quite cuckoo... Forget to bring Claire's handkerchief at times, Claire's smelly is her handkerchief!

Poochi: Thanks for the reassurance regarding PG cakes. I know there's been quite a few bad experiences but that was the only 2 tier cake I could get within my budget. Share your pictures soon ok? Ethan's birthday is this Sunday and I'm in the final stages of preparation! So exciting!!!

Holidays: So envious of all the mummies who have managed a getaway of sorts. Poochi, saw your nice photos of your holiday in Perth! Looks like Hazel really liked the farmstay. =)Grace, enjoy your stay at Club Med...share pictures ok? Was considering Club Med for awhile, then decided to go to Banyan Tree in the end in July. Just came back from a weekend stay at Conrad Hotel. Guess that will be our little getaway for now. haha.
 
k@ye, BDL concierge has to pay UD$10 admin fee so not worth leh. Ash's smell is also her handkerchief! She can use up to 5 of them in a day esp at the infat care. Sometimes, she just throw it out of the stroller and some got lost that way. last weekend just stock up more else every 2-3 days have to wash her clothes.

Langlao, wow... Now has to pay BDL concierge admin fee liao... Another roundabout way is if u got HSBC credit card hor, u changed the billing address to the BDL one and u try whether it works or not. But remember to state to get online bills from HSBC hor....

so relieved tat Jovan's party is over. finally can go to sleep in peace w/o keep thinking whether i forgot to do anything =P Jovan enjoyed the party so much, he refused to nap. He was happily playing with the balloons before the aunties/uncles started carrying him ard. he was passed ard like a baton. sometimes i dun even know where my son is. hahaha. he also kept pointing at his cake & cupcakes. he also clapped his hands after the birthday song was sang. it's like he's thanking everyone

i learnt a few things, share here so tat mummies who r holding ur babies' party can consider.
1. kids love balloons - i hand-pumped a few balloons & threw them on the dance floor. the party bags, coloring stuff & kids dvd were all ignored. kids kept themselves (extremely!) happy with the balloons.
2. adults like finger food - some of them like to munch on finger food even after they had their fill. i had a box of "honey bee" choco (to go with my pooh theme) meant for kids, it was mostly taken by the adults.
3. experience with party supplies shops - i went to the party supplies shop at the 3 locations (Tekka Mall, Bugis & Henderson Rd) Tekka Mall is biggest & stuff r slightly cheaper, but they charge $5 to pump a 18" foil balloon! rental for a small helium tank is $75. the 3 shops at bugis only charge $1.50 to pump a 18" foil balloon & rental for tanks is $50. if u wan to get foil balloons only (and u are living ard redhill area), can go to party shop at Henderson Rd. i'm not sure how much they charge for pumping & tank coz the only sales girl there is blur (it was her first day at work). it's a extremely small place, v limited party stuff but they have more foil balloons. the party stuff at the 3 shops at bugis are slightly more ex (compared to Tekka Mall), but the quality is better. e.g. u can find $1 pre-packed party bags at Tekka mall while the cheapest at bugis is $1.20 but the quality is defintely better. u can find more themed party stuff at bugis too. for Jovan's next birthday party, i would definitely choose to go to the shops at Bugis.
4. foil balloons - if u wan to keep ur foil balloons, stick them at places where adults cant reach them. all 4 balloons were snatched by the adults (not kids, they use the kids as excuse only). managed to "beg" only 1 foil balloon back. went to "beg" another adult for my fav 18" foil balloon but he refused to give it back to me! so poor birthday boy had only 1 foil balloon after the party ended.

wow! u have SO many guests?! i was already v bewildered with my 90+ guests & i totally had no time to go toilet or drink water or eat the BD cake/cupcake!
Jovan also sleeps v little at the center. sometimes only 1hr+ in total. the teachers try to let him nap 3x since he always sleep so little each time. i think could be noise (other babies playing/crying) tat woke them up or they dun feel as safe/secured as when they r at home.

it's my first time eating fondant cake so i dun quite like the outer layer but the choco butter cream filling is yummy! i havent taken the cupcakes. Pink assured me the (7"+10") cake was enuff for 75 adults 20 kids but it weighed at most 2kg & it was v small! i was so stressed at the cake-cutting. luckily the resturant waitress was experienced & she helped me to cut the cake. i still have some left-over cakes & cupcakes. think i wun be ordering from her for Jovan's next birthday party. it's not b/c the cake is not yummy but b/c she lives too far away. my HB kept complaining (but he din mind driving all the way to KL with his frenz. MEN!)

i tried putting Nestle rice cereal into Jovan's milk but they dun dissolve well. sometimes it gets stuck at the nipple & Jo gets angry when he cant suck out his milk. gave up after a few tries.

Jaime: I got my confinment lady from the forum. She was saying that her mum and 3 other friends run some confinment service. And these CLs are from Batam. I spoken to the one i booked, she seems easy going enough, willing to cook for family members and etc with no extra charge. And she charges $1.8K. Not sure do u like the no?

Gillian: don't be upset. understand yr feeling. If bolster dropped, u can take a wet wipe to wipe or take out the cover.

Sharon: I use healthy times for the cereal. But not I dun add cereal to the night feed. But I will check if my bb easily finished e.g. 7 scoopes of milk, then I will increase it to 8 scoopes. Now I give my bb 8 scoppes of milk with 240 ml of water. He will drink it at 9.30p.m and sleep around 10 plus and last till about 6.30p.m in the morning. Of course sometimes he will wake to look for pacifer and go back to sleep.

mummies, anyone know where to get the ribbons for the ballons? I went everywhere e.g. Bugis area, Raffles place and etc, I can't find the right width for the ribbons. Some too thick and some dun sell? Any mummies know?

Catherine: alamak... adults want the foil ballons har? hee..hee... maybe they know it's more expensive.

Catherine, nope i saw the cake at the other baking thread. saw Jovan's name and Pooh's theme so assumed it should be ur cake. its a relieve to know that the cake taste ok. i also ordered a small cake from Pink, but will be making my own cupcakes and jellies. so hopefully its enough to go around.

Rachel,u mean curling ribbons to tie the balloons? i bought mine from SKP they sell in a pack of assorted colours.

Catherine ya hor abt the balloons. i was thinking how to bring bk home aft the party. cos the lady will deliver the inflated ones to my party, but i forgotten abt bringing them bk. maybe will give some away. and keep some bigger ones for myself...have to tie and leave a note there saying :'pls do not remove the balloons"...whahahhaa

ur idea of tying the balloon round Isaac waist made me LOLx. actually the foil balloons are so cheap from the sprees. just tat i was v upset tat i got the balloons especially for Jovan for his BD but the adults can take away w/o even asking. tat same person (who refused to return tat foil balloon) also took away 1 cupcake for his son (excuse!) even before we finished photo-taking! so pissed! wat kind of value is he trying to instil in his 2-yr-old son? tat person was my HB's fen. i nagged at my HB for some time yday nite.

wow. tat lady will deliver to ur party venue. so good! if u really wan to keep, u can de-flate them & bring home. the party shop pumped my balloons in such a way tat i can still reuse them.
 
Langlao, the BDL shipping charges from US BDL to SG will be charged to citibank credit card. If u buy the item online yourself, u can use any credit card.

esp now, nanny fractured her toe, I can't carry heavy stuffs, so can't look after my boy. My maid is new and hubby has to take leave to take care of him. So kind of stress. Wish April comes quickly so that I can do more. So now have to take things at my stride.

For me, I ordered the helium tank so that will blow up more normal balloons for the kids to bring home. Even if they want more than 1 also fine for us lah...I also brought party stuffs that make lots of noise, chocolates and sweets for the kids.

Catherine ah, b4 hand i already told my hubby abt the balloons distribution. Told him that all the balloons are to be distributed out to the kids only after cake cutting session and LEAVE ONE foil balloon for Claire.....

Agree with Rachel on some parents being KS and afraid to lose out....My elder SIL is like that also... Me already very worried that next time Claire will be influenced by her cousins....

i m almost done with the purchase/party supplies and catering/cake. guess now is to FIND time to start packing up the party packs and do a final headcount. just hope the food is enough to go around.

anyone used them before? can comment on the serving portion? i ordered just nice for the number of adults and halve the kids (2kids = 1 adult, excl those 3y/o n below). hopefully the food wun run out before the cake cutting; else sure pai seh BIG TIME!! :D

yeah, i agree wif u on the quality of the items at tekka mall as my colig help to get some supplies for me and i saw them this mrng; was a little disappointed with the party hats patterns, etc. but true lah, the price is cheap lor.

foil balloons can get from www.bargainballoons.com yah i got mine from the spree organised by k@ye. 18" foil balloon is USD0.56, abt SGD1+ (after adding shipping charges). can go bugis shop to pump helium $1.50, including ribbon. for normal 12" latex balloons, if u dun need alot of them, my advise is to get from local party supplies shops. $1 for a 12" latex balloon (including ribbon & helium) OR get a packet of balloons, hand-pump & balloon sticks.

thanks. it was stressful but fun at the same time. when our babies grow older, it'll be even more satisfying to see them "understanding" & enjoying the party. i hope i can do it again when Jovan is older. i think the next few years' party will be only mini ones celebrated with his frenz at the childcare center. i'm already thinking of ideas of how to celebrate! hahaha

seems like there are many details to take into consideration. Really not easy. From ballons to food to guests to cake.. its really lots of preparation work.

Kiros will be holding his next Saturday. Hope all turn out well too. After hearing catherine's story on the balloon thingy, i have decided to get more balloons..

zzz: Sorry missed yr post. My trip was good, nice weather and scenary. And nope, i din bring E along. We called home everyday, and E was looking for his daddy for the first few days. Kept twisting his hand and ask my MIL "Dar di dar di". My HB felt so sad and guilty when he heard that. But glad E was well taken care of by my MIL.How did Aaron react when he saw u aft yr trip?

Weishy: They shld have larger tank, i din ask coz i only needed the smallest. Guess 40+ shld be just nice for me. U wanna blow 300+ ballons? U sure? Wah!!! Nope, i wont be joining for the event this Fri, just got bk from my 2 weeks leave, so not too nice to go on leave again:). But count me in if u have any dinner/kopi session during weekday evening. For weekends, will need to get busy with E's party prep.
