k@ye, can i pick the balloons up today or tmr? U can reach me at 91548677. I can also pick them up over the weekend.
jave's not walking yet too. I think there's no need to worry. Some children develop certain areas slower than the rest. However, if u check, they r still not considered slow or delayed if they have not started walking yet. No worries.
Not speaking proper language at 18 months is quite common. I've seen many kids that do that. Just try to ensure that the food given to the child is not too pureed, as that will stop him from working his cheek muscles and tongue. This will hinder speech.
Adults communicating with the baby will also help the baby pick up language. paraphrase, ask questions and ur baby will learn.
Baking: I am so inspired by so many of u. Attempted to make bread, but not too successful, although edible. Made some cookies for Jave's bd. I want to try to perfect it, so i was telling my hubby that i want to re do. He says to keep what I've made and see if i can find time. if not, just use what I've made. I'll upload the photos and u ladies tell me if its good enough as a welcome gift for his BD?
Making Dough
Cooked Dough
Traditional Recipe for Play Dough/Play Doh
The basic cooked play dough recipe requires:
1 cup sifted plain flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tblsp oil
1 cup water
2 teasp cream of tartar and food colouring or powder paint
Heat the salt and water in a saucepan until the salt has dissolved. Add other ingredients and stir over medium heat until you have a smooth, firm dough. Allow to cool slightly and knead for a couple of minutes or place in a food processor. Store in an airtight container or bag. If the playdough feels a little dry at any time just dip it in oily water and give it a quick knead.
Uncooked dough
3 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 1/4 cups water
1 tblsp oil
Mix ingredients and knead until the dough is elastic. Your kids can make their own buttons, brooches, beads, animals, Christmas decorations whatever they can think of. Bake on a tray lined with foil or baking paper in a pre heated over at 150 C (300 F). Thin objects will take about 1 1/2 hours with thicker models taking longer. If the object is beginning to brown, turn down the heat of the oven. Finished objects can be painted with poster paints and varnished.
I make uncooked dough once every 2 weeks. It's the cheapest option.
