astro: the longer u delay, the long all of u suffer, just nip it in the bud, do it and sort it out quickly, remember the longer u delay, bb will be harder to CIO ..my take lah. In fact, I should have CIO Rae when she was abt 6 mths ( that time dunno what is CIO mah).. so now a bit regret that i let the problem drag on so long. now more traumatic and iff to CIO for both baby and mummy leh. right?!

let me just relate relate star's humour to what DrOng commented that time regarding teng's 'late ' teething.. she said most likely teng on shot.. erupt many many teth kind..(like how star said now 'obstacle training next time sure pick up fast) then i 'wah'.. she said. like that good ah.. one shot pain.. no good meh? come home miser tell me same thing. as usual.. i 'fainted'..

star: I KNOW!!!!! and i know what autum is saying too..!!! that's why in two minds lei.. coz at most another 6 mths.. teng should be able to walk without support?. skali by then he want to pull himself up and sit himself up all the time liao right else how to walk?? and mobility no longer the issue liao mah..a need for another round of siong crying??

but i know what u saying also.. coz not just the physical part.. but the manipulation part. must let teng know he cannot get away with that..

baby Girl: I have not attended classes by other teachers but my take is tat with Shauna, i am more incline to sign up. actually i would still consider cos i would very much want rae to take up some musical class. i want her to learn art and music so kindermusik is a good place to start.. mi prefer kinder to gymboree lah.
 
QQ: Yes, Leapfrog is available here. I got the exersaucer mah.. Fisher Price also got a few learning tables.. There's one called Laugh and Learn table or something like that..

What you mean by changing setting huh? Do u mean rearanging the toys and let Tian explore?
 
bbgirl: yes.. kindremusik programme is still good.. though it might not be that exciting if not carried out by shauna. coz she has natural gift in connecting to bbs this age..

in fact i was looking at the kindermusik website the other day.. realised that they say they match teachers to classes.. according to their ability to handle the children at their age.. so confirmed shuana cant' be there forever one.. but the circulum is good..

Star: I also would like anna to learn music. Do they do a lot of musical stuff in the class? I only remember there are some "tribal" instruments leh.. The carrying baby and dancing I've been doing it with her since she's born.. We dance to classical music..

astro.. manipulation part a bit tricky... but we cannot do anything right? unless we know what he is thinking and what has been manipulated. if not serious, i think its fine. i super cincai la. maybe you tofu a bit?

bbgirl, ya.. table setting. its not so obvious at the moment. but when bb gets elder, whatevr we place on the table will shape their learning (not 100%, but will provide differnt opportunities). say if one day, it can be a musical table, one day it can be colour learning, then all things i place there might be of the similar colour, but can be in differnt tones... its learning via visual + hands on.
i think think think only la. so far table also not bought yet.
 
Baby Girl: Re Leapfrog Little touchpad..well i think if i can afford it, i will still consider buying.
I love reading and i want to cultivate the love of reading in Rae, so any material/tools that give/teach bb opprtunity to learn read i will def consider.. but like what i said last nite, our bbs now have quite short attention span for non-moving images, activity like this leappad, its more audio story book so they will definitely get bored, cos no lights/moving images etc.. so i think u need to spend time anna and interact and make the story telling a fun session for her. Think of using this leappad as just an additional tool to make each session with baby more fun and interesting. U can't just leave bb with the little touchpad and get on with ur other activity, it does not work that way. understand?

You know why babies seem to have very short attention span when we're reading to them? Do u realise that they're always using their hands to hit the book in front of them? Cos they have photographic memory. They take less than 1 sec to capture the pic. And after that, they want us to turn the page liao..
 
anyone wan to let their baby learn sign language? i did asked my sis abt this... but she said my niece learn in her sch... i think is tumble tots... is part of the lesson... so not fully learning sign language... just some basic... any comment?

Star: yes.. READING canot be taught thru mere exposure to words.. must have 'active' exposure to build up the schemata in the brain.. bbs no prior knowledge to build upon when they 'read' such books.. wun understand anything.. unless we 'read' along with them..

we started M when he was 15mths.. but it's not Learn to swim as in really learn the swim strokes lah.. it jus to teach bb water confidence etc... u google marsden swim school.

there's no other way abt it. i'm gg to get TOUGH with u. either u shut up abt Teng manipulating u (like wat QQ said, how the hell u know for sure wat he's thkg?) or JUST DO IT and CIO. if not, nobody is gg to care anymore. BCOS ALL OF US GAVE YOU LOTS OF SUGGESTIONS LIAO!
 
Astro: You like kindermusik cirriculum very much. Next time you can send Teng to a pre-school which uses their programme.. There are quite a few who "adopted" this cirriculum..
 
hmmm.. not based on any resarch or what.. i would tend to think that bbs this age are tactile.. they want to feel and touch.. no just books..anything.. teng will also grab his books and touch..to them.. learning means touching.. different textures and such.. that's why they keep saying that let bbs experience different textures.. coz jolt their sensory a bit..? no?

Astro: yes, bb's love of reading must be nurtured by us parents.. so i try to read to rae whenever i can, even when she is not paying attention lah..hehe

i think im like u..a bit bochap, i attend classes more for leia to socialise, she can't seem to know wat's going on....with people around, she just stare and stare at pple...
as for shicida classes, i'll enroll unless im very sure tat leia likes it, if not i just let her play thru-out her 1st 4-5yrs of childhood which is very short.

just be hard-hearted. i let my gal crawl on the floor..sometimes when i see her falling, i just let her fall if i know its not really going to hurt her, she will be in a daze for a while and continue. If it hurts, i will laugh and she will stop crying. sometimes got to give them a bit of 'freedom' a bit bochap, they may learn faster and be shun qi zi ran about it, let her be, if she learns she learns, if she doesnt, then just let her be. maybe im practical too, dun have the time to think about wat to do wat not to do, it'll kill me. i rather focus on enjoying my time with her than to worry about whether she can do this do that because when she can do this do that, it's time they run away from us ..sad sad

I give another example. Babies learn chinese by "memorising" the character as a picture. Therefore using flashcards to teach chinese is very successful. They have absolutely what the character in fron of them is.. What they see is a picture..

lol... now laughing non stop... i think i receive the video from email... is a baby tt can walk... he walked to his pool... just drop inside... tried struggling himself to flip over... and floating alone in the water for more den 1hr!!! tts how he survive... but is in other country.. not in sg...
