i got a problem... i think Jo dun like lan4 lan4 or nua nua porridge.. she wants food with texture.. if i give her cereal or porridge, she kept sticking her fingers into her mouth.. i gave her potato and salmon pieces, she loved it. also gave her alphabet pasta, finished everything!!! jialat.. which means, i got to spend time cooking for her.. porridge is so ez.. jus steam or dump everything in the slow cooker...
 
starfruit: yes.. and it's getting bad.. haiz... feel like vomitting non stop.. bt *touchwood* only vomit twice till now.. nope.. my boss don't know.. cos if i tell her now.. scared she cut my bonus.. so mean hor..hahah..

i never tried this before, dun think i ever will hv a chance, cos my mil is with us from mon - fri.... sigh.... that day, i was on mc and at home, i realised my boy got a weird habit, he suck his thumb while eating his porridge!!! aiyo, so dirty and messy... if you pull his thumb away, he will cry w his might.... i refused to let him eat his thumb while my mil was feeding him, wah, he cried so hard and so loud!! then my dear mil say "okay okay, ah ma sayang you".... sigh... how like that huh??

dun know shd i try letting him cry and simply refused to let him suck his thumb while eating.. you think good idea??? opinions pls.

mil is like that one... cannot change... if u r ard, u take over the feeding and "discipline" ur boy.. if ur mil feeds, then u let him be.. bcos grandmas r all the same... i gave up long long time ago... why dun u give ur boy a spoon or a toy to keep his hands occupied.. then u dun have that much problem...

my boy got his 2 bottom teeth, hmmm no wonder he is so cranky for the past 2 weeks and refusing milk...and he has pull himself to stand with some support...

However, i realise when he crawl, he don't bend both his knees down, he will put his right foot flat on the floor and crawl..

my boy like textured food too, i just use scissors to cut the millet pasta.

erm, I feel that EJ is also thin leh. He not so chubby liao. Face slim slim. He quite tall though.. so I think he grew tall then lost weight (when he was sick 2 weeks back). I wondering how to make him eat more. Especially if now he gets distracted easily when eating. Ask you, how much porridge to give now? I tried one-bowl (those small Ikea bowl) he cannot finish leh. I think he still taking half-bowls.. and he has been taking that amt for a long time liao.

bel also stick her finger in to eat when i feed her cereal... so wad does this means? todays lunch, i feel her all junk food... puffs , pigeon biscuit and soft rusk with apple avocado puree... till she burp so loudly... and she still wans more puffs... faint... she hate her mash food now... how? tml i will be cooking porridge ... hope she wont reject... cos i using cod fish... wahahaha...

^5... i think so leh.. i dun blend and puree for some time liao.. i only puree apples for her bkf cereal, but i might switch her to oats.. if u feed in pieces, make sure the pieces r soft enuff for his gum to mash it.. u shld be able to gently using a spoon to press small pieces of carrots and potatoes. also make sure the pieces r not too big that he may choke on it.. can also give mashed pieces of fish.. wat i do is i cook a piece of salmon in porridge without mincing it. when feeding, jus mash and feed with porridge.. a little bit of texture may eliminate the finger-in-mouth problem...

I keep wanting to tell u this but forgot.. EJ crawls on his stomach and can crawl rather fast. My mum said that if a baby crawls like that, that means is like that liao. ie. Will not progress to crawl on all fours (using knee).. She said some babies crawl one-legged.. one leg tucked underneath the body, the other dragging.. then some crawl using the bum.. (she said I did that).. so using bum will go backwards! then of course some use stomach and some use all fours.

So if Teng doesn't want to use all fours, maybe cannot force.. as in, cannot try to put his legs/knees in that position... cos I remember that someone suggested you try to put his legs in that position or something..

Anyway.. just sharing what my mum said.. not guaranteed to be right! heh heh..

aiyo, he throw the toy away loh.... angry man!!! yah, i tried on weekends loh, he cried very hard loh... i also dun know since when he starts on this habit.... so frustrating!!!

okay, think i will try on weekend... cook the salmon w porridge and see how.... the way my ah boy sucks his thumb is terrible, 1 spoon of porridge/cereal, and immediately his thumb goes in!!! dirty and messy right??? aiyo, headache man!!!
 
Mummies: I haven't caught up with today's threads.. Have a question for those using bumper mats and gates..

When do u intend to keep the mat and gates? I'm asking cos Anna is so used to not hurting when she falls down, I dunno if she will develop the thinking that it doesn't hurt when she falls down? Now that she's learning to walk, I'll remove it only when she has mastered walking without falling..

Dunno if this constitutes a case study of the good and bad of being protective and overly-protective.

I can see some debaters taking sides liao..

i got fr NTUC.. Eden organic foods Alphabet pasta. it's vege type.. vv colorful.. shld be able to find it in the bigger NTUC with organic food section..

any pasta will do.. bcos pasta is made of wheat durum. or like the one i'm using (see my post to ladysol), mix with vege powder... u can try normal 100% wheat durum one... why i suggest that? bcos Bel has ezema, so be a little cautious with the food.. oh, they also sell millet and rice pasta, which u can try...
 
pax: me her lah, was feeding baby her dinner.. so fustrating cos she kept fussing and rubbing his eyes.. cos she woke up 1 hr early during her noon nap.. so sleepy lor, had to distract her and quickly stuff the rest of the food in her mouth... now she napping liao.

that's partly the reason why we decided not to have bumper mats or gates, although initially i did wanted a bumper mat.. although i c Jo fall n knock herself vv heartpain, she learned first and "know" how to "break her fall"... it's like getting her fingers caught in the door of her exersaucer, she quikly learn not to wrap her fingers over the door and push the door with her palm...
 
pax: yes.. will try very hard.. cos it's difficult to handle myself, HB and noti bb..kekeke..

crawling... my gal crawls on tummy too.. like leopard crawl.. use hands to bring herself forward.. even though she is on kneess.. jst not on palms of hands.. on elbows..lazy gal
 
Pax/Baby Girl: i also dun believe in 100% fully child proofing my house.. i dun want her to develope tis thinking tat its safe everywhere, so i won't have problem bringing her to other ppl's house.
But i like the gates and bumper mat cos tats her special play area and since i dun put her in a walker, this is also the "safe" space i can leave her while i attend to other things, like toilet, housework, answering the door etc.

my mil and fil let bel crawl on the floor... i onli saw her really MOVE few days ago... got one time nearly knock her head... cos she wan to flip, mil manage to grab her... if not, i think her head got BALUKU liao... but, now ok le... onli thing is, the floor got alot of dust and hair... i don feel ok with it...

Autum: nope HJ stuff not in the bag. Bag only has 6 or 7 pieces, 4 mine and the rest QQ. I dun see HJ's stuff leh cos each item is labelled. nothing for HJ.. maybe check with very berry and wait for her to confirm.

Agree with you, sometime bb get over protected they wont feel the pain.

My girl are like that, she can seat half way that juz lean backward, we used to catch her from the back but I told my mum not to do so let her fall (off cause on the mat not the floor) then she will feel hurt next time she wont do it again. It work, first two time she cry loud then now she dun do it anymore.

Now we let her to crawl on the floor, sometime she crawl too fast or the floor slippery she will accidentally knock herself again the floor but now she can control abit liao. ;P

But I still looking to gate to protect her again the fan, my full length window and my glass display cabinet. :p
 
oh.. and i wanna say tat Rae finally crawled!!..hehe.. 3 baby steps forward.. so cute.. she crawled very slowly though. Think she still kinda a bit unsure cos after tat, she stopped and did not crawl already.

Better ask QQ to check too, cos i remember quite well tat the pieces are hers leh. QQ, u got the ON stuff from yvonne, correct right? My side only my 4 pieces cos i only just emptied the bag and kept the clothes this morning.

babygirl: i use the bumper mat to define a play area more than to impact falls. i still let bb crawl outside of the bumper... in dat way.. he still experiences pain when he falls. so no need to keep the mat ba... at least now bb knows where she can play n mess up..n not all over the house. =D dun think u r being over protective la... i find the bumper mat really good in encouraging crawling and physical activities! but it's also good to let them roam outside of it.. so they r familiar with other 'textures'. =D
 


oh btw, Jo can crawl in her long pants and and cruise with her socks on! on my slippery marble floor.. she's damn good... she hardly slip.. so gals, dun over-protect ur babies.. they will learn.
