So chim the math problems.. I pity our children leh. How will they know how to understand the questions next time, let alone know how to solve the problems.. :p :p

Enya's neck or head is still a bit wobbly. during the last jab, doc said for some babies, their necks may be a bit short or not so strong yet, so we'll have to see what happens by her 5th month, otherwise has to refer her to 'muscle' dept..dun know wats that. in the meantime, we'll try to encourage her more. dun know whether her neck is short or we cant see her neck bcos of her chubby face/chin.

can define uncooked egg? is it egg in the shell or liquid egg (which means its already cracked before dropping it)...if the later, we just spill it on the floor instead of cracking it? make sense?
 
star: those questions are logical thinking questions.. i think i came across them when i was trying to find resources to craft problems for my module.. the POWs.. i managed to crack it last time.. hahahhaah
similar ones will be those.. reach a fork .. one route leads to village X, the other leads to village Y.. got two persons.. one always tell the truth.. the other always tell lies.. ask only one question. .which question?.. heh

ladies. wah i just finished course on specials needs and learning disabilities.. dylselxia.. is really common.. and hor.. these kids are soo handicapped in mainstream school. i feel for them leh.. autism, asperger's sydrome..dysprasia.. etc..

Yay, sam discharge from specialist check up. Dr say her nose still abit sensitive, but if no flu, should be ok. She is 10.7kg 79cm tall.

today tried new dish again.. simple anyhow cook but i like. sweet peas with egg tofu in oyster sauce yumm! most impt is chloe did not resent only she eat v slow.. cos crawling ard on the sofa haiz.

I have a friend, who kenna asked this type of IQ questions during an intervie!. I remember taking some similar tests for some positions that I applied for last time. There's maths and logical questions. It is a tough world out there now. :p

soak the egg in white vinegar? I remember there is a method to soften the eggshell. After doing this experiment, the egg is not edible anymore.:p
 
yvonne: Dyslexia is a learning disabliity with reading/spelling/comprehension. Individuals might be able to speak very fluently but unable to write/ or read from articles well. I chanced upon this link because i wanted to google some links for u to see how a block of text might appear dyslexic kid.. this link, second page, somewhere in the middle.

and that's not the worst! dyslexic pple can see swirling text, floating text, colours of pages taking on different colours.. but there is nothing wrong with their eyes! it is the defect with the way the brain attempt to decode and process information pick up by the ears (if auditory dyslexia) and the eyes.

really stumped when the instructor showed us some clips to show us some writings on dyslexic kids.. also she brought in some compositions.. wah.. the spelling hor.. i am stumped..
 
miser claims that he is dyslexic. he says he struggles to learn languages.. english, he needs to prepare for spelling very hard and even that he can't spell.. when u read the word to him.. he can't try to form the spelling phonologically wor.. i asked him how come he can do so well in chinese.. (dyslexic ppls have problems with tonal languages like chinese).. he says he got drilled by his father one.. oh well.. he also say he is autistic.. ha.. but today. i know he is not! teng is also not.. heh.. *relieved*

i really feel for the attention deficit kids.. life is quite miserable for them.. :S

Yar, dyslexic people have huge difficulties with languages. There is also a spectrum of symptoms so some people won't even know. They have reading difficulties but din know that it is due to dyslexia but was instead drill to think that it is because they are stupid or bad at languages. It is quite sad really.
 
mejo: yes.. i do feel for the attention deficit pple more.. after going through these two days. make me ore appreciative of what i have. what i take for granted.. is such a challenge to others.. can u imagine.. an autistic kid.. suppose tactile sensory disorder.. who feels PAINFUL when a gentle breeze blows on his skin? gosh..

yvonne: bel def dun have auditory dyslexia.. as for visual dyslexia.. hmm. can't recognise.. as in.. how? now a bit young to tell. dylsexia normally at kindergarten when they start to read words.. ah.. then u know..

oh. But should be able to tell the basic abc right? Ai ya, this gal always veri slow, till i veri scare! Tt time if she still don talk, i almost sent her to speech therapy.
 
yvonne: when u say.. 'tell abc.. what u mean?' as in being able to say out the letter?.. at this age.. can.. individual letter.. but if piece and blend the letter sounds together.. and i mean truly be able to read.. and not memorise one.. not yet...

teng also quite slow.. :p but i think his slowness is the gross motor part wor.. hmm i kiv dyspraxia (in terms of gross motor challenges).. but i rule out autism for teng.. heh..stupid miser still arguing with me that he is mild autistic.. ha!

i also got problem with language la. haha!!

but me and jay discussed about teng before. we raise both hands both legs and bet that teng is not autistic (not even mild one). he is true, cute and can be da4 zhi4 nuo4 yu2. looks not so smart(his mama said one), but can be very smart type, manipulative some times. at this age, he is attracted by food la, then unable to perform and show his papa that he is perfectly fine.
wait till few years later then can confirm bah. now too young le.

yvonne, i also think that maybe bel dun have good eyesight, then unable to see the words clearly? (I mean see the words during learning, not when u show her the A) got difference de. maybe her vision shows a little bit distorted type of A? some ppl write A differently too, right?

and anyone has partime job to do (i mean those that can bring home and do one, data entry etc etc). i got candidate who want to earn extra allowance.

QQ: ha. i didn't know teng was ur subject of discussion.. ya. he is not autistic. his lang is fine.. he has good eye contact.. and expresses lotsa of emotions.. he is a big CRY baby. .. no asperger's syndrome also for teng.. dyslexia? hmm dunno yet..

last time i had a student who is dyslexic and exempted from studying chinese.. but i dunno how MOE determined he is to be exempted from chinese.. maybe he has prob reading chinese characters bah... but this boy is a computer genius! i once read LKY is dyslexic to a certain extent.. dunno if i rem wrongly tho coz its quite unbelievable..
 
pink: no. strictly speaking.. that is attention deficit disorder traits.. but hor. their short attention span is really short.. like get distracted by 3 minutes!. can't focus more than 3 minutes.. then they stand up and get distracted liao.. also then ADD. got three parts.. impulsivity, attention deficit, hyperactivity.
these group of pple are very neglected and misunderstood. :S

but it is possible that autism and add together..

teng will ask me, 'mama why u hit me?! it's painful'.. then i have to tell him. because 'teng is notti'.. teng is a naughty boy'.. then he will start to cry and then say sorry wanna hug me.. my mum commented.. dun understand why he always need to be 'punished' before he can be good boy. and that he is a v good boy at school.. she saw it for herself. come home.. cannot make it..

dyslexia can porcess thoughts well. speak well.. but they have an iability to decode, perceive auditory 'text'..and visual text.. IQ can be a range.. so u dun really know it from appearance..
but the thing is dyslexic can come in a package.. so can be ADHD+autistic+Dyslexia! :S

my fren's bro used to be autistic, extremely smart boy, he managed to overcome it after he converted to Christianity...now he's married and intend to write a book about it.
 
edde:ya. dylexis can be auditory. because it can happen as a barrier in 'retrieval' of information from the brain to respond to a auditory text...also they need to deciper the words of a question first.. then they can figure the meaning.. before responding to the question.. so double word.. this is when talking is no longer associative (things we do without much effort) but become cognitive.. requires effort to do..

Could be due to font problem, like maybe she can recognise in certain fonts but not all? Or, she knows but just din want to say? Like YT always likes to purposely answer things wrongly (e.g. in some computer games, she will purposely click all the wrong answers before clicking the correct one last) or she can draw in a straight line but purposely curve it all over the place. That day before the 3 year old check up, we actually threaten her and said that if she answer wrongly, the nurse will give her injection. :p

all the alphabets lor. But object she can name all veri well. Sometime she impress mi with chinese sentences. Of cos she cannot match words with object yet. Lol!

oh ya! I forget abt her eyesight! Haiz! Teacher also reminded mi million times, give her time to catch up. Cos long time she nv see a clear vision. Now qq reminded mi .

u have a point also! Cos at the 3yo assessment and her eye check up , bel also give us a shock. And my tears almost roll down when she get all perfect! Last time she usually don wan to coorperate with the activity, always i force her.

And i realise she have a time span. Once the person keep asking and doing the same activity for too long, she get restless, all the answer anyhow give! Makes mi fed up sometime. i hope next time her spelling, teach once and for all, no need to keep testing and testing like mi last time. Lol!

If you ask me, I think we ALL are mentally impaired one way or another. :p But seriously, I ever read an article that says that everyone has some mild form of some mental disorders if not the serious form. From my point of view, pyschology is not an exact science although of course, certain disorders have roots in physical conditons. Sometimes, we actually conditioned certain behaviours ourselves unknowingly. E.g. FIL told me that twice he bought YT back from school, twice she has to stop along the road to pee although she said she doesn't need to pee in school. Obviously, either the "don't need to pee" is a lie or the "I need to pee urgently" is a lie. So strategy that I pass on to FIL is to ignore her request to pee on the way home and just make her walk the rest of the way home if she said she need to pee urgently and if she wets herself, so be it. To her, getting to pee in public must be a novelty so have to stop a habit from forming. If we expect certain behaviour, we WILL condition the kid to behave in that way, it is like self-fulfilling prophecy. Like I have conditioned YT into eating 2 hours meals *smacks head*.

i got a qns. Do ur tod start to pick on food? Now bel start to choose her food leh! And she cant even finish her rice! She eat 3 small mouth and say full liao. Den hor, after tt she say she stomachache. So i ask her go sofa to rest.(i tot she really full) den ah, she say: mama no cut apple ah? Den i scream liao: didn u say u stomachache? Don noe wad is the prob.

Another prob, she talk and talk non stop parroting mi! She can repeat along with mi so well like she know wad i m going to say and answer! Machiam sing song like tt! Ta boleh tahan! Lol!
