joelle: thanks for the reminder.. i keep forgetting.. and its getting quite irritating! hahaha!

star : water cushion.. mine did spoil.. the water leaked.. hahahahahaha! but it helped me thru out my 1st pregnancy.. and den it leaked after my confinement.. i need to go get another one for this confinement liaoz. if not i dunno i think i will go crazy at home with the weather like this..

Aiyo! so many kids sick.. alamak!

me also woke up with a sore throat.. yesterday tiff woke up with stuffed nose.. sigh..
 


alamak! i last stage last month liaoz.. i am just feeling so fustrated and so grouchy and so irritated all the time! why?

aiyo, last weekend tian said wanna do the ART work (inside cwp) with the colouring (dunno what is that called) with colourful glue. $5-8 depending on the pattern we want.
i said if she gets 5 stars from me this week, (one day one star after school everyday), then i will bring her to cwp and do it. she seems to remember and reminded us about this everyday.
this am, she went PT, cried ab it. when hb fetched her, no more crying. she told papa that mama will bring her to do the art work (shou3 gong1) at cwp.
am I depriving her from doing all these? i forced her to go school or wat ah? or do you see this as an encouragement? i tried to encourage her, but it seems that it might end up with a kind of bribes woh. (shang nao jing)
 
Star: Yes,, we got a tic for Anna.. Todds above 90cm need a ticket and she's abt 1m liao - cannot run away.. Although we were carrying her most of the time and she sat on hubby's lap during the first half of the show with her back to the screen (cos she's scared lah)..
Yah, Ayden doesn't need a ticket.

QQ: It's fun simply doing the activity together.

The first thing Anna said when we were walking out of the cinema was she wanted to go shopping! :p Girls't nature.. Hahah..
But papa let them watch the trailer on pc lah, so she went with the fear of the dragons. We achieved the objective lah cos at the end of it, she walked out not afraid anymore..

oh , den i must take note. I see the ingredient, it is made of anchovies and salt and water, no other thing liao, so simple. Sam and i ate it, bel haven, she in sch. Later at night i try again.

so far i used light soya sauce+mirin = veri nice liao.

just now i put one tsp fish sauce on a pc of cod fish, den put to steam to testing, nth special, and no taste. Lol! Which one u buy? I bought the knife brand, the smell is strong leh, i cannot tahan. Lol!

oh! The thing can stick on the glass or make keychain one! Let tian do the 2dollar keychain letter first, slowly den upgrade to 5-8 dollar one. Bel got 2 already! Slowly encourage, don let it become a habit. My niece wan to do it when she see in every shopping mall. I onli let bel do when my niece come back, cos i cannot sit there and help her with sam around, sam always kick the kids beside mi. And the space veri cramp. Some have the sand one, easier for their age i feel, cos no need to use strength to squeeze the glue.

tian loves to do artwork (but always cannot do herself also la).
 
QQ: it is inevitable.. that encouragement becomes a bribe .. actually it is a matterof motivation.. :p and the way u frame ur thinking on this issue.. see ah. heard of extrisic motivation vs intrisic motivation..? used to be.. teachers operate on extrinsic motivatino so that students can be interested to elarn more intrisically.. now. u are speaking from someone who wants tian to go to school intrisnsically.. so u feel that this is a bribe? :p:p:p. if i operate extrinsically. it is an encouragement. a necessary encouragement in fact.. :p

edde: thanks on the sterimar thingy.. have that.. and appearently got c hild versin. i used it. found it.. uncomfortable.. got a 'shock' when using it :p

Leia also loves to do artwork...err..more like cutting paper! she is very guai when cutting paper, sit there quiet quiet. i like. The artwork shop in CWP...is it more for sandart?

there's a art & craft class in west coast plaza, i remember leia was too young for it...shall go and check it out again, dun know the minimum age is 3 or 4. anyway her daddy says she has his talent, likes Arts..watever, everthing about leia is from him lor.

How's everyone doing?

I flew to Perth n back to sg yesterday.. My fil just passed away 2 weeks ago n it's quite sudden.. Tat day, my mil n sil just went to nursing home to visit him at 12 noon.. And he was sleeping soundly, so they din wake him up.. At abt 3pm, the nursing home called my sil informing her tat he has passed away. He just passed away in his sleep.. So sad but feel tat at least he's peaceful n contented..

so shock to hear that. and my condolences to your family. glad to know that he din suffer much.
I think back about my dad and fil. one din suffer much, another one suffered until very chamand draggy in the last few weeks. sigh!

hb helped massage leg a bit i already complain until siao4. cannot la. i scare ppl touch my body de. haha!

eh so leia can stay quiet when doing art work. good! actually u have captured what she likes right? can buy some for her to do at home, sometimes u need some peace, u know?
hee. that's what i do . i give many to nanny so that she can do some of her work in peace.

I feel tat it shd be considered as an encouragement.. When she din cry or watever when gg to sch (is tis the reason y u r giving her stars? sorry, cos i din read the whole story), then u slowly remove this 'bribery'. Hmm.. if u dun feel like gg cwp today, then u told her tat u promised her to go on fri.

i give her a star every night when i go home, if she went to class on that day. so by friday she will have 5 stars in her room. it is a reward system.
she has phobia, i have to assure that after dunno how many stars, she would be ok de. no issue.

so ENCOURAGE MENT.. ok ok.. i hope by this week she can get rid of her phobia. or... maybe by next week? lets see.

there was a time when M also always pester us to let him do the glue art (at IMM level 3). i told him i prefer to spend $5 on a book. i asked him to choose, $5 for the glue art or $5 for a book. he chose book. slowly he got the idea and stopped asking.
for tian, take it as a motivation/ encouragement, slowly change it to something else?

Thanks.. Now, we r waiting for his body to be cremanted.. In Aust, we r unable to witness his cremantion.. After everything is done, the authority will inform us to collect his ashes... Everything is very simple for furneral in Aust.. We only need to be at the wake for 2 hrs n at the furneral abt half hr.. They follow strictly to the timing..

Yup, hopefully, she can get rid of her phobia soon.. When Moon just started toilet training, she also has phobia sitting on the potty. In the end, i gotta use 'bribery' method as well.. I gave her biscuits if she can pass urine in the potty.. As time goes by, she din requests for any biscuits when using her potty anymore.. I guess both cases r similar.. And I do agree with Pax, tat u can slowly change into something else..

this few days sam eat veri well*touchwood!, everyday different kind of food. Waahhaha! Even myself so contented with the homecook lunch. Last time i usually don dare to eat the fo i cook myself, so bland. Wahahaha.

My maid says put one table spoon of the fish sauce. I forgot what I instruct her last time so asked her. Haha. The fish sauce hor, after cooking, your food is NOT meant to have any extra taste or smell de. It's just an enhancer and makes the fish or meat more tasty. For eg. A lot of Bak kua they actually marinate with fish sauce but u cannot taste the fishy smell right. You just find the Bak kua tasty! For steam fish, wevput the fish sauce on the fish, then cut tomatoes and put on top and around and also add some Ginger strips. Very nice.

thai cooking also use alot of fish sauce. The roadside fried noodle, just add fish sauce, soya sauce and the fried noodle is very nice.

sometimes cooking is nt abt exact measurements... u also need to trial & error to suit to ur taste. gd tt Sam is enjoying ur cooking. wat's she eating nw? rice? soup? noodles?

err dun really understand your post. U mean u can smell the fish sauce after cooking? Anyway I agree with Pax. Cooking is about trial and error. No need to have exact measurements de. After cooking a while u will improve and improvise and can even substitute ingredient A with B and vary the proportion as u like. Have fun!

to be honest, till nw i cook w trial n error n tasting my food during cooking..
only time when i use exact measurements is for baking! even then, w time i learned to cut some, add more, subst to get right / beta texture.

ai ya, i really don noe how much to put soyasauce, salt, sugar, cornflour. Got one time i put 1tsp in my soup, den veri bland, den i go put 1tbsp, wah, super salty! Lol! And those mushroom sauce, sweet and sour sauce , bla bla bla, also don noe put how much, and need to dilute with water?

i think i mentioned last time, i only hv dark and light soya sauce, cornflour, salt n sugar. nt even tomato or chilli sauces. use natural ingredients to flavour.
for eg, jus adding mushroom to soup is quite tasteless. i learned to stir fry the mushroom and meat, then add water or stock and other ingredients to make soup. taste nicer and no need to add too much sauces.
no oyster sauce, sweet sour sauces for me.. nt sure abt Autum though. it's up to each individual.
BUT the amt to put is trial n error. nw u know 1tsp too little, 1tbsp too much. but hw much sauce also depend on how much water..

start w the easiest - MUFFINS! jus chk out my food blog (which i hv nt updated for so long, bcos no time to bake. so sad

my lor ba recipe

marinate pork belly with light, dark, oyster sauce + sugar for at least 1/2 hr

fry marinated pork belly in oil, medium fire till they turned a bit brown at the side

sauce:
2 cups of water, light soya sauce 2 tablespoon, dark soya sauce 2 tablespoon, oyster sauce 1 table spoon, mirin sauce 1 tablespoon, honey 1/2 tablespoon and 1 packet of "star anise, cinnamon stick and dried cloves"

punch 4 cloves of garlic with skin on. throw into the sauce and boil. after water boils, throw meat in. boil for about an hr.

you can throw in black mushroom and eggs too (optional)

yvonne, yes use soft butter (put in outside to let it soften first) coz u need to beat it with sugar till light and fluffy. i use my hand blender (with whisk attached) for this. yes cream cracker is biscuit aka so da bia.. u like soda bia rite? the cake will hv the so da bia taste and fragrance, goes very well with coffee or milk/milo for the kids!

wah! Den must crush the cracker? Hmm ok, i must prepare those baking barang. Lol! So many things to buy . This nick keep saying later buy liao bake once, nv use liao. Wakakaka! The blender for their puree also like tt. Now sitting in my cabinet rot.
