Astro: use supps to bring down fever if fever is too high. more effective than bufen. i thnk dun give bufen to under 1 yr old, bufen can cause gastric to tummy one. if bb is less than 1 yr old, half a supp. get from GP or PD.

my whole family is sick. rae is down with stomach flu.. i think she got it when i sent her back to school on tues. she has has been LSing for 2 days liao.. keep crying and crying and i am down with mild bronchitis!! cough anc cough so much phlemg, so sian!~!

Astro: this CP antibodies that mummies pass to babies.. it does not mean that the babies will not get CP, it just means that when bb do get CP, it will not be fatal. which is why i am reluctant to give rae the CP jab, cos i scared that she won;t have any of these antibodies to pass on to her kids and it may be fatal if her kids get CP then. understand?

Rae refused to take the Lactoguard (latic acid bacillus) and diarrhoea med.. i am so vexed now.. can replace this lactoguard with yakult or yogurt?? isit the same.. HELP!

The osim one is just a massager. Different function. Osim one probably is relaxing and comfortable. Using slendertone will HURT cause it actually contracts your muscles like you are exercising. But as they say, "no pain, no gain"...

RE: Slendertone

I think I forgot to mention an important point. Using it will hurt okay, cuz you are forcing your muscles to contract. It is not exactly something comfortable... That's the reason why the arms one are not very good for me cuz I can't take the pain there but tummy fatter, so I don't feel it so much and I can distract myself doing things but if doing the arms, I can't distract myself. So yar... take that into consideration before thinking about buying the system.

Last time Dylan also dun like this Lacto taste. We put in a syringe loh, slowly persuade him to take.
Like yesterday also to persuade him to open his mouth to let us put the oral drop.

Ya, every since yesterday Dylan is sleeping in another room with daddy. But other than that they still play together. Hope Esther's immune system is strong.

tian cried again when she went school, for a while. few min. then a jie jie hold her hand, and enter classroom. she ok liao.
pax, looks like many kids prefer older kids hor? maybe older kids can understand and sayang them more.

star, wah, stomach flu can be very tiring for both kids and family members. siong. tian also dun want to take the lacto med, so i just feed whatver she can take (a bit nia) then drink more water and depend on herself liao. i did not give yakult that time cause it contains milk? but if no vomit, then can give yakult. (i am not sure what I did!)

this CP thing is so chim. i also belong to the ahmah gang that having it earlier is better than having it later. but never think of this shingles, though my fren got shingles before. very chim le.in kampung, somehow the shingles can be cured by dunno what fire/cup treatment. (catch snake). chim chim.

K this morning was good until i went to pass her to her teacher. she started crying, then her teacher call her, ms ang, why are u crying ? she stopped.

AA: having antibodies.. does't mean immunity against leh.. like inthe case of the host's son. the host had chicken pox.. tbf.. still got it..

astro: sorry for the confusion.. antibodies are passed from mum to unborn child..cos mummy has CP and as a result forms the antibodies and so can pass the antibodies to baby. according to what i read (again, there are 2 school of thoughts on this, i choose go with this belief ok, so disclaimer first ok), if u gave bb the jab, u r suppressing the CP, so thus u do not get antibodies, thus when u preg, u do not have any antibodies to pass to bb. This is just a worry, there is not enuff research done on this cos this CP jab is relatively new. But then again, maybe medical technology may improved over time and this worry is undue. but for now, i am choosing not to give rae the jab, hoping she will contract CP and body will form these antibodies to pass on to her own child.

AAA: i think the antobodies will pass from preg mum to their unborn child. not sure if antibodies will be passed thru BFing but then, many antibodies can pass to bb thru BFing so i am sure some will pass to the bb. as for immunity, i dun think it will get pass either way. its just that if mum is having CP, the BM will not be containimated and may have some antibodies in it, so can still cont to BF when mum is down with CP.

What about children who miss getting chickenpox in childhood because they were vaccinated...what happens when their immunity starts to wane..(which it always does with vaccines -- that's why you have to keep getting booster shots!) .will they be even more susceptible to provocation shingles?

Everyone there will kena loh. What freaks everyone out is the babies are at most 6mths. Too young liao, if it's our 3 years old then not so bad bah. Hai...., hope Yh one is not too serious. And no one in your household will get also.

last time when i was heavily pregnant , i brot my son for his cp vaccine .
the PD told me are u sure u wan to go ahead wif this , coz if u let ur son take the vaccine , he will hv the 'virus' and there is a remote chance that the unborn child in ur tummy will catch cp .
so what starfruit wrote is true ,, 'live virus'

having the vaccine wun mean that u mite not get CP , there is still a chance that u mite get it , but maybe not the full blown version .
personal tots --->if u hv no CP before , then u wun get shingles .if u hv CP before , when u are old or immunity system is down, u mite hv shingles .

shingles is shen1 she2 (snake)? i think i got it before when i was young, some spots on my forehead and my ah mah lit rubber band withe fire, press it on my forehead. in the end the shingles were gone, but left some black spots on my forehead till today...hiaz.

Wah I gave EJ the chicken pox vaccine, so does it mean I am exposing him to Shingles?

And I am planning to give the vacc to EV in 6 months time!

i think i will brg K for the CP vac once i find out she is expose to it. it help the reduce the exposure to full blown version.
i had CP last time in my teens but it was so mild. so i am afraid i mgt catch it agn. not too keen to get the CP vac

kaexin: my time limit is up to age 12.. by then if she has not contracted CP, may bring her for vac cos cannot miss PSLE lah.. this is what rae's doc recommended.. heheh wise planning.
