Hubby got a cleaner to come tidy up the house this morning, so no choice have to start my day earlier... else I usually go back to sleep a little more after sending hubby off to work... hee hee.

starting next week...(24th sept).

ladies,
i dun dare read any birth stories.
i sure panic one.
every year, i attend first aid class also have to watch a birth video. i always close my eyes.

jen,
i tik hor, if ur appointed hospital is KKH in the very 1st place, their service will not b dat bad lah. my hb's colleagues seem to like KKH's service leh. got one hor, now expecting twins (edd olso in dec) even asked my hb to change our package to KKH cos her 1st bb was delivered there but we didn't lah cos very comfortable wif my present gynae...^^

Hi Vanassa!
I've been reading the postings regularly, just that by the time I catch up with the day's postings, topics already moved... hah hah.

I'm skipping gynae visits for these 2 months, coz we decided not to consult the local doctors. Anyway, according to hubby, his boss was expecting 2 years ago and the gynae only did 3 scans thoroughout the whole 9 mths... so the standard here is very different. So, cross our fingers and hope baby will be okay.

happy.gif
what time is it in italy now?

jen,
not everybody has bad experiences in kkh. a friend delivered in kkh in april, she said her experience is quite ok leh. service not as gd as tmc, but she was still quite happy. hers also a nicu case, so she chose kkh. think the oct mummy really v. poor thing. her gynae wasn't with kkh, so maybe the nurses weren't familiar with her case n kind of neglected her.

calynn,
i thot the mummy was v. zai, can still remember to wrap bb in a towel. n she still so calm, hv the presence of mind to walk to the bathtub. super zai mummies.

Talking about supplements, you gals are really going for it. I'm quite a lazy pill person and my body also don't accept iron very well, so I've been skipping my calcium and iron tablets all this while. My neighbour was telling me I will live to regret this in later life... sigh.

The main summer hopping season is over but there are definitely still some good buys. eg. Furla bags and accessories...
happy.gif

Jackie,
somemore scan by midwives only, not doctors.
so we are lucky? so pampered.
my gynea is in SG, so i get to see bb every mth.
tkz for your well wishes

sylk,
oO...goodmorning...^^ i missed to greet all mummies morning today cos very bz..hehe..tink i manage to greet goodmorning to u...hehehe...
happy.gif

Jen,
If she just gave birth, don't expect the milk to be alot, the supply will only increase with demand.... how do u expect a bb with a golf ball size stomach to drink alot? How long did she put her baby on her breast? Let bb take the lead to finish her milk, but only allow 15 mins or so on each breast if possible then switch to the other. If bb falls asleep, unlatch her, she will wake up and starts to suck again. Keep bb actively sucking the milk and not sleeping on the breast.

Good morning doremi!!

happy.gif

Hubby is on a 2-year posting wef June, and since July, I started on a one-year no-pay leave to be here with him. In Jul/Aug next year, I will probably also resume work.

jackie, I got it for $12.50 but I self collect cos the initial pickup point is near to my workplace.

MBB, wahh..all of u always go tour..so shiok! I wana go tour too but my mom said no flying! Then hubby also not free
sad.gif

Calynn, I think sylk is still in Italy, cos she said by the time she login we are PM liao...

sylk..come back soon lah... hahhhahaha

dey, most probably I will go in Sunday morning cos hubby wanted to have lunch at Maxwell Market (that greedy pig!)

Calynn, my mom said the same thing (about them only seeing the doctor when they are about to give birth) when I told her I know that I am pregnant at 6 weeks and she think its too early to see a gynae.

Hey Jen... am taking folic acid only. Hoping to get enough calcium from milk and cheeses (on the pizzas and pastas... hah hah). Iron, definitely cannot, because my body rejects manufactured iron... I'm one of the rare cases where they detected Thalassemia minor during blood test.

sylk,
Opps, u still in Italy ah. NVM, we shall arrange for another penguin parade in oct

aiyo..so long then now ony 455pm!! 35mins to go! cant wait to get out of here!!

Jen,
There are many reason behind that cause her low milk supply. She must ensure she has done the following things:
1) resting enough
2) drinking enough
3) relax enough
4) massage enough
5) Lastly, latch on enough / on-demand

Rest enough to ensure milk production, drink enough especially hot drinks to ensure that there fluid in body to produce milk, relax enough to achieve let-down and massage enough to make sure that her milk ducts are not blocked.

On top of that, red dates and longan drinks can help in milk production, so ask her to drink more. I believe her milk production is not consider low, I guess that's the reason y some LC encourage latch on on demand for at least the 1st 6 weeks to ensure the milk supply and building up the supply, cos if u starts to pump too early, u will starts to feel sad, and wondering how come only so little milk. Every woman mentality will be like when pump must achieve a few ounces of milk, but true fact is we won't. Even when I TBF my no.2 till 6 months, I was like pumping only 3-4 oz each side. It took me 6 months to achieve that.

Another thing ur fren need to check is if bb is drinking enough. If she's drinking enough, bb should have 6-8 or more wet nappy in 24 hours and frequent, soft, watery poo. Check if she feels her breast soft after feeding and did she have any engorgement or any lumps around her breast that is obstructing the milk flow.

Some bb are lazy and they are not drinking enough or sucking hard to get the milk, hence the demand is not there already and eventually they fall asleep on the breast, aka sucking for comfort.

U must encourage her and tell her that she's doing well and ask her to follow the above and continues to breastfeed.... This is the passing stage and this is the place where ppl just give up on breastfeeding. If she really needs someone to talk to, she can always call the BMSG hotline at 63393558 to talk to those counsellor...

Hope the above helps

Bloom,
Oh than that $0.50 difference. But the collection point is in Tampines so pay abit more for postage
happy.gif

sylk,
Since your body reject iron, than u shld take more green and leafy vege that is rich in iron especially spinach. Take care hor.

vanessa,
thanks for ur infor.

I think she is not resting well. cos she say her gal every hr nid milk.. she din rest enuf at all. so now my frd who is experienced ask her go slp.

She say her mom & MIL dun allow her to drink papaya soup cos it will cause growth in womb? true anot har?

Hi Jen,
Both hubby and I work for a Singapore company that have overseas investments/interests. Not civil servants lah..

sylk,

really ah... Ferrari test track... my fav F1 team leh... so sad Schumacher is retiring...
sad.gif

Bloom,

ya.. tat's y i told my mom i not so pretty and not so smart lor... coz she never take her vitamins mah!!! ha ha...
happy.gif

Jen,
I'm also not sure if papaya soup will cause growth or not, but every mothers are drinking that what, so I don't see the problem lor.

Another way she can rest is to put her bb on the bed and sleep with her. She can use the lying down position to help her rest, else if she keep carrying the bb and breastfeed, she will be very tired. Ensure her, every hourly feed is normal in some bb, mine also hourly feed till I buay tahan, but slowly learn the method of lying down n sleep for that 1 hour break also better than nothing.

Hah hah... green leafy veg, how I miss them.... if only I can find them in the supermarkets here.... Am stuck with salad leafs, roots and cabbages. Anyway, thanks for the concern and advice, really appreciate it.
happy.gif

Jen,
Though papaya milk is quite standard drink during confinement???

sylk,
