i was induced too. My cervix was not opened.i was induced in the morning via pill and only late evening then my contractions started. i delivered natural w/o epidural the next morning. i used gas and the jab in the thigh. Same as u, i was very afraid that i will have to c-section if induced but thks gdness, everything went well. So it's really have to depend on the actual situation.

it's ok to take food that is cooked with alcohol cos the alcohol will dissipate after cooking. i still feed immediately after that. if u take alcohol directly, then u should wait for at least 2 hours.
Looks like u've got enough for CL to throughout the night and some part of the day. i only pump mine at the end of the day so it's not as much as yours. looks like u may have to freeze some if u still want to latch bb on more often during the day. Else you'll end up feeding bb EBM but u still have to pump to maintain ss.

so long as u don't feel super engorged if u stretch the pumping at night, i guess it should be ok. just be more hardworking to pump during the day.

i'm targeting to train bb to wake up once at night for feeding, that is provided that i've fatten her up enough in this 1st month. So long as u pump b4 u sleep, i guess can still just make do with 1 pump at night.

I do not know if anyone here believe this. I suspect my baby is very pantang. When my MIL came here, she carry her and from that night onwards she is ilke that, I give her a flower bath, she okay for a night, then my sister came and touch her and since that day very naughty. a very naughty girl. anyone here heard of this before?

I forbid people to touch her except my hubby from now on and see how. no wonder my MIL do not want to have buffet.

Like wat babygrace mentioned, as long as the alcohol is used in cooking, it is ok to bf or pump even after drinking immediately. But if you are like me, who drinks DOM before going to sleep, then got to wait at least 2 hrs later for the next pumping or latching.
For me, I only pump in the day. I dun pump at nite. My last session of pumping is at 10pm and the 1st session in the morning is usually between 6.30 to 7 am.

Esther,
Try to reassemble the Avent Pump. If anything is wrong, sure is the valve problem. Avent Pump is very easy to use.

For daytime, introduce all sorts of sounds while she sleep. At nite, keep sounds to minimum with curtain draw, if you want. Nite time also less feeding session. I dun think your gal is naughter lah, just that she dunno when is daytime and night time.

dunno is pantang not cos my hubby's catholic n he doesnt believe such stuff.
According to my mummy, most babies r abit fussy during 1st mth. after that usually will be beta.
According to bb's doc, he says most bbs r awake at nite n slpy in d day. Cos they cant differentiate day n nite.
As for nite feed, usually at least 2 mths of nitefeed.
Let's pray hard yeah? cos my mathias gets troublesome between 10+ till 2am most of d time n it does get me panicky... =(

Can lah, my CL said can drink. As long as the drink dun put in fridge will do. I bought the packet drinks and put all on table. So when I want to drink, just take and drink lor. Yes, ribena is mixed with normal temp plain water.

i intend to follow the schedule set out in Gina Ford's book. For her, the last feed is at 11pm followed by a middle of night feed at 3am and then feed bb in the morning b4 7am. I think the trick is to tank up bb during the day so that she can last longer at night. Hope it won't be too late to train her by then.

When my bb's colic peaked at about 2 mths, i was desperate that i brought him for tuina.

seems like we are the 2 guai mummies here. I miss plain water also! same as u, i can only take plain water when i'm taking my supplements/medicine. i was telling my mum, for once, i'm glad i'm need to take medicine cos it's the only time i can drink plain water...
for nite feed, as suggested by PD, increase the amount so that bb will feel fuller, then can sleep longer. day time, then can decreas the amount.

gd for u, ur boy can sleep even when it's noisy. he will have no problem adapting to noisy environment when u bring him out.

faced the same problem as u. My gal getting naughtier. want to be carried or else she wont sleep.the moment she was put down on the bed, unless she really tired, she will wake up. we already try to minimise carrying her...

coz my mum said drink plain water will cause water retention, so i only drink when i take my supplements. but luckily oso so far i am happy wif juz longan tea, milo & hot milk.

anyway i heard bfg try to cut down cold drinks as it will dwindle supply? not sure how true.

oh in tt case, nxt time i dun hv to get up at nite to pump, but i do feel v full lor.

I was told if you want to have plain water one way is to add Fried unpolished rice (abt 1 tbspn) to 1 large Flask of water.

Was told that this mixture of water can reduce water retention and not end up having too much sweet drinks

yes, i am still feeding on demand cos i really need to fatten her up. Sometimes i wake her up for feeds during the day if she is sleeping for too long. These few nights she seems to have difficulty sleeping at around midnight cos i think she has been sleeping too much during the day.

caleb very strange one. sometime bf him on 1 side for 25 - 30mins, he can tahan for 3 hrs but some times after 1.5hrs he will want milk so i really dunno if it is cos i not enf ss or he wants to suckle to sleep.

also, give him fm sometimes can tahan for 4hrs but most times cannot. after 2hrs will cry for milk liao.

same as crystallized, would like to know how u train Emma too

Caleb sleeps well wif or w/o noise. but cos lately weather not very good so day i will put him to sleep in the room. only morning after his bath he will be in the living room resting wif tv sound... he likes pple to talk to him. if he is awake n u leave him alone, he will sympathy cry for attention...

Hi all,
My boy is also veri cranky @ nite. Does nt seem to be able to sleep thru. He keeps waking up @ demanding to be fed while he hardly feeds during the day. Any suggestions on how to overcome this?
My boy is 8 days old but my milk supply still veri pathetic. I can only managed abt 60ml - 80ml(when I'm lucky) each session & I'm already doing it like every 3 - 4 hrs.
I cant latch him cos my nipples cracked over the weekend when I was nursing my boy @ e hospital so they r still healing.
Is my supply average or izzit too little?

I'm currently feeding him 60ml per feed as instructed by my doc. For day, the amt seems fine but he seems veri hungry @ nite (muz feed abt every 2 - 2.5 hrs) yet if I prepare more than 60ml, he cant finish and I veri heartpain to throw away my EBM cos veri precious since my supply low.
Am I feeding him the correct amt? Wouls appreciate any advise.

hi all
im back, delivered on 19 oct 3.40am

My birth story:
6am admitted to KKH to prepare for induction.
6.30am inserted the first tablet and was put on
CTG

2hrs later still abt 1.5 cm dilated only and not much contraction

Went back to my ward and rested

2pm inserted 2nd tablet and waited, still no signs of labour

8pm intense contraction starts coming 2 min per
interval

requested for gas ...pain was unbearable from 10pm onwards,....so requested for injection on thigh, after injection, with help of gas managed to take short sleep for cervix to dilate

by 1am, the injection is no longer effective to ease the pain but only abt 7cm dilated...have the urge to push baby.

by 2.30am, abt 8-9am dilated and i refused epidural from the start so still tahan the pain

3am fully dilated
start to push.....and after a few pushes , baby is out around 3.40am

my gal also wakes up every 2hr (sometimes 1hr) at nite for milk. her normal dayime amt is ard 70-80ml now (1wk old). i prepare some bottles of 20ml to 40ml for these in between feeds so that i wont waste those liquid gold. if not wat u can do is to warm up only a small amt first and feed. if he finished it and ask for more, then u can warm up the rest of the EBM. abit troublesome, but at least u'r not wasting it

according to my PD, most newborns are more active at nite and sleepy in the day coz when they are in mummy's womb, mummy move move ard in the day thus rocking baby to sleep. and at nite when mummy is resting, baby is awake. therefore the "jetlag". hehe..

my baby driving us nuts at nite too. PD said usually this jetlag will be over in abt 3-4wks time. no nid to do anything wor..

tdy my boy cranky again. i was like latching him on at least 4-5 times within 3 hrs time. then as i need to hv dinner, my CL warmed up 60ml of EBM to feed him. thot he wld b satisfied aft drinking but he cried, demanding 4 more. so i quickly finished my dinner and latched him on again. nxt wk his full mth liao, looks like he wun b able to fatten up in time and fill up those clothings i bot 4 him.

u ladies intro pacificer & yao lan to ur darlings? my boy likes to lick his mouth, as if he is hungry most times. so i thot of using pacifier. and nowadays since he fusses so much, i wan to put him into yao lan but is holding back coz he still too small and i worried his spine not well developed yet. so prob will wait till he is at least 1 mth old.

i used to get worried when my boy slept at a stretch of 4-5 hrs wif no feed. i tried waking him up but usually to no avail. now if he can sleep for 2 hrs straight, i am so thankful liao. dunno how i am gonna handle my boy when my CL leaves BUT luckily i hv my mum to fall back on.

it happens to my boy when i nite feed him. sometimes he only suckles for 5 mins and doze off. no matter how u stir him, his mouth remains tight shut. no choice.

i think hor, now hard to figure out wat the babies drinking habits r. we juz hv to go along wif them. i hope things improve as they get older.

same like Caleb, mine oso like pple to talk to him & to listen to pple talking. if he is sleepin in the living rm and i got visitors, he can sleep thru'out w/o stirring no matter how loud we chat. once it quietens down, there he goes again. and if he is awake and left alone 4 too long, he cries 4 attn again. sigh...

freshpoison, i think u r doing fine. juz continue wif wat u r doing & drink more fluids.

babies tummy r still v small at this moment, so no pt preparing so much milk and waste it coz he cant finish. its like tt at this stage. alot of small frequent meals. u juz hv to wait till he hets bigger and can take in more quantity and slowly increase. dun force feed ur baby. u can do wat storm is doing, so at least wun waste precious EBM.

storm, the strange thing is during my baby 1st mth, she sleep throughout the nite and day time did sleep but awake sometimes. now my baby abt 5weeks plus liao and day and night now become opposite

My boy 2 days youger than Caleb n about 1kg lighter when drinking my EBM is 70 to 100ml. He drinks bout every 2 hrs unless he cranky than latch on every hr. Like alot hor but than he still looks small n skinny to me. Think we see them all the time won't know if they have grown. But my mum who sees my boy bout once a week told me he has grown. Make me so happy.

Dun worry so much over breastmilk k. Be a happy mummy for Caleb more important.

I give my boy pacifier when he keep suckling n sleep or when he supposed to sleep. Think it will always drop out one so u need to hold for a while for him to suckle n get used to it. Normally after he sleep it drop out I will take it away liao. I bought the pigeon one for him cos it is very small n not hard.

my boy was like Caleb also. very tiring cos sometimes he seems to be feeding every hour. That's why i thought this time round i wanna train Emma cos i've got friends who manage to train their breast-fed bb to be on schedule.
You should read the book, The Contented Little Baby, by Gina Ford. The book will teach you how to schedule feeding and sleeping and provide a time-table for u to follow.

i introdunced the yaolan to my boy when he was about 2 mths old. the yaolan was a godsend cos i was struggling to look after him on my own after CL left. He hardly slept long enough and kept wanting to be carried and to latch on. If you ever think of getting a yaolan, get the automatic one cos bb are v smart, they will want u to rock them all the time. He slept in the yaolan during the day and cot in the night.
As for pacifier, he didn't wantto take it when i gave him at 2 mths. He only took it about about 6mths old when i sent him to the infantcare.

sorry for mia-ing again...
Past 2 days were challenging coz CL left liao, now trying to cope with night feeds every 2 hrs. Missed my CL and my sleep...

Think now I got probia liao, everytime i wake up, will panick and scared that i overslept and din hear his cry and missed his feed.

This boy very accurate one, every 2hr will cry for milk liao... always like to multitask, want to drink, want to poo and want to sleep at the same time... plus bad temper... wah lao... driving me crazy... but whenever looking at him when he sleeps, looks like an angel and everything doesnt matter anymore... well.. until he wakes up... haa...

Now i feed FM (friso) at nite as it is more filling and hopefully can last longer, while giving him EBM (100ml) in daytime. Dragging my pumping time to 3-4hrs now too.

I gave pacifier to Rhys too. Find him moving here and there and refuse to settle down. Sometimes cry without reason in the evening and unable to pacify him... so a pacifier helps. I did realise he starts to taste his mittens so better give pacifier. At least pacifier can get rid, if suck finger cannot chop off leh...

YAO LAN

Crystallized, my SIL's bb also sleep in yao lan since her 2nd week. Now very jialat, refused to sleep anywhere else. So now if she goes other ppl's house, sleepy liao will cry and cry coz she only wants her yao lan...
So try not to introduce to your bb too early. That is what I think lah.
