Went for the hospital tour at GlenE today, right after my blood glucose test. Didn't get to see the delivery suites cos all of them were in use. Only saw the single and double bedded room. The single room looks quite small... but it comes with a sofa bed and an armchair. Think I will take the single room. According to Jacqueline (the coordinator who conducted the tour), the baby can remain together with the mother in the room for 24 hours if single room option is taken. Otherwise, the baby can only be in the room from 9am to 9pm (official visiting hours) cos the other patient needs to rest. Husband can also stay on as lodger in the single bedded room. Otherwise, the nurses will request husband to leave after 9pm.
For those who need parking facilities, daily concessionary coupons (max 2) at $5 each can be obtained from the nurses station during your stay there. The concessionary coupon only allow 1 exit per day. No deposit is required upon booking of room. A deposit on the full amount of the package chosen will only be charged upon the actual day of admission into the hospital. If natural birth, the mother will be sent to the delivery suite straight after admission. Jacqueline advised all mothers to do the pre-admission procedures at least 1 month before expected date of delivery.
