Blessings, Mayb ur Ryan doesnt like to be carried? Why dont u put him in a bouncer or rocker? Easier for you and maid too. Like that only 1 person feeding.

E doesnt like the HT barley cereal.... HE has been refusing lately.

maybe u r right. My rocker is reclining, cannot adjust to sit upright...so abit difficult so I am wondering if I shld get a highchair now...
 
Blessings, think dont have to sit upright, mine is also reclining and BB easier to swallow then the up right high chair, maybe coz he doesnt know how to sit up yet.

u can try putting Ryan in the stroller or pram. Adjust the position and try feeding him again.
That is how my MIL feed my ger last time. No highchair for her.

me 2...last time my elder son oso sit on his pram when i fed him cereal, highchair for him only when he was 8 mths.

hmmm...sounds like a good idea to sit in stroller. I shall try that this weekend. Perhaps I will get a highchair and put at my mum's place....quite "siong" to get two and moreover my place is small, these baby stuff take up alot of space.

how is kevin now? Take the medicine faithfully and he will be fine soon. Use a fever patch when he is sleeping?

Both me and my wife have been reading up quite a fair bit on introducing solid. You might want to start fish at a later stage instead.

Take note that baby main food is still "milk" up to about 8~12mths. Introducing solid at around 6 months to our baby so that they would not think that "milk" is the only form of food and thus reject solid later.

Go easy with veg type of solid 1st, potato, pumpkin, cauliflower etc 1st. Remember the 4 days to check out for allergy or any reaction for new food introduce.

my gal sit at the exersaucer when eating! can finish cereal within 5min while playing the toy..

blessing i put abit of rice then with 5time level water, cook till paste..if halfway dry then add water...

PM jumperoo as long head stable can sit liao...if u feel yr boy love stand n jump alot...then is a good time to start
 
Hi Zita27, which exersaucer you bought? I recently rent the leap frog one and not very sure about the height I should adjust the exersaucer to - am I suppose to adjust in the height that will leave my baby leg hanging or baby leg should touch the base - but now baby leg still not strong yet so will there be a problem if i let his feet touch the base??

Hong, are you giving your boy Enfalac A+? Currently using that as well but finishing soon. Have stage 2 Similac, Dumex and some other milk samples. Thinking whether it is ok to let baby try different brands or not. Will she get confused?

Today my mum cooked some potato & carrot soup so I tried feeding my gal wif it. No seasoning is added. At first, she refuses to open her mouth. But after some soup sipped into her mouth, she became more receptive. Managed to finish half a bowl of soup!

Dun ever under estimate bb hor. Some will reject certain brands of milk powder.

So far so gd for Julian, poo well too. meantime we have no intension to change to enfalac. Happen to have a few tins of sample from relative so we just let him have it. I also got a tin of similac, a double tins of mamil step 2 as well and Friso 2 too.

Wat r the equipments we need to prepare bb food puree? I saw lots of bb food processors sold in the stores, but am confused about which one to choose. Can any kind mummy help?
 
YB, hehe. for the twins, we used the spoon to kao the fruits (apple, papaya, banana) to feed them.

Started putting brown rice in bm for my gal a week plus ago. She was ok with it. I put 1 scoop + abit more (using those scoop to 60ml water kinda scoop) to 160ml of bm. Then today, my MIL complained that she didnt finish her brown rice feed. Left with about 70ml. And i asked her how many scoops she put, and she told me she put 2.5 scoops. Hai.. think by the time Germayn finished the 90ml she would be super full and heaty liao.

Mich, your gal is 7.2 kg.. think my gal will only be at most 7kg when she goes for her jab this sat. she was 6.65kg her last jab a month plus ago. think from then she prob wouldnt have gained much weight cos her input is not alot, and she's been 'exercising' alot.

Bought a few packets of HT cereal from BP. would prob be collecting next week, and will start Germayn on that. hopefully she'll like them. dun wanna end up eating them myself. haha.

Julie, think it's not necessary to take the pneumococcal jab unless your baby is attending childcare. I intend to let baby Germayn take the jab only when she turns 2. For her elder bro and sis, they took the jabs when they were about 20mths old cos they were attending childcare and were falling ill quite often, so just in case...
And i did ask my PD about the jab for Germayn b4, and he recommends having it only when she turns 2.

I bought the braun hand blender recently....the 400W cos it will blend food to a more smoother texture. So far, I know braun is commonly used by mothers.

For EYS brown rice, is it ok to add other vegetables besides milk powder? Been feeding Ryan the HT brown rice with jar food but I also have a tin of EYS so thought might as well cook it lor.

For porridge, any type of rice will do? The jasmine white rice we eat is ok? or is there a special type?

no equipment,no blender.use only chopboard n knife(chop,mash n grate) when preparing his ingredients.
i use 'ZHEN ZHU' pearl rice...any brand.

Hi Zita, I also bought the safety first but not yet delivered to my house. The leapfrog one I rent and put it at my MIL place.

long time no write..seems like everyone is doing really fine... have been so busy during the xmas season... then now back to work and try to eat snake abit cos no mood to work.. holiday mood still ON... hahaaa. I have been reading the thread though.. so i still quite updated wif the happenings...have been tryign to post .. but everytime wanna write something, sure got other things crop up.. and in the end no mood or no time to type liao...

those mummies already feeding their bb solid, have u all replace 1 feed of bottle? if so.. after feeding solid.. how long can it tahan? as in bb will want milk after how many hrs? mine only lasted abt 3hrs, does this means i am not feeding enuf?
 
also.. my bb has been coughing occassionally... no phelgm leh.. just cough abit abit.. my mum says sometimes he cough to catch our attention.. dunno true or not.. other then the occassional cough.. he eat, drinks and poos normally leh... why like that huh? anyone of u know? wonderign if i shld bring him to see doc.. if not why will cough leh?

I owned the Braun and the tollyjoy manual food processor.

Tollyjoy is ok but u have to do it cos manual.

I get Braun cos i also use it to prepare meals for adults.

Long time no see/hear from u! Hope ur bb is doing fine.

I'm currently replacing my gal's 1 feed wif brown rice. She'll want milk again after about 3-4hrs. Normal interval even when she's on fully FM.

My gal just recovered from her cough last mth. But these few days hear her cough again. But since it's only slight cough, I think I'll wait to c if her own body immune system can fight it before giving her cough mixture again. Think I also getting cough liao...sigh...

Is it very tiring to prepare bb's food manually? Electric ones are better? Thinking of pureeing fruits & vegs to freeze in fridge leh...
 
Misaryeo..my gal act cough (Those dry ones) every day leh..she last time choke cough then we sanyang her, cheeky gal now once we didnt give her attention too long she will cough to catch our attention loh, when we look at her then she laugh...! I tink if real wan, veri regular wan blah, sleep will oso cough with phelgm...maybe u monitor n c lah, our got dry throat?

im using a manual bb food maker too, comes with strainer, grater, sieve etc, i have fun making bb's food with it cos like playing ma-sak ma-sak.

i will stick with this first cos now only making small portions but enuf to last 3 to 4 days so still can put in freezer

Looks like lot of mummies here are starting on solids. I started my BB on rice cereal when he is about 3 mths plus. And when he officially turn 4 mth, I started to feed him on Heiz food jar and really love it. In fact, I think he like it more than his cereal. That replace one feeding and feed him with milk again after 3 hours. He is now on cereal twice a day.

Can I start him on porridge? He just turned 5 mth?

Is it ok to give juice? I was told that if i give juice, BB may refuse to drink water cos water got no taste?

Good morning mummies,

I started Ryan on porridge yesterday..added potatoes and carrot but he gets hungry real easy...after an hour, he wants milk already. Why like that? Aiyo, I thought can replace one meal but it seems like it does not work. My mum is going to cook threadfin fish porridge for him today, more taste for him.

Night feeding:
BTW, any babies out there still need night feeding? *Raise hands* I am one of them!!! Zombie already. Last night Ryan woke up at 11.45pm, then at 3.30am, then at 6am...for feeds. Pengz san liao!!! I thought as he grows older, will sleep thru but not the case for me...even if I feed him twice cereals in the daytime, also wake up at night.

Flippng at night:
Ryan has been flipping in his sleep at night. This worries me cos he did not know how to flip to his back yet...so I have to get up at times to see if he is ok. Even if I put a bean bag on his tummy also no use....does a sleep positioner helps? or any other solution out there....???!!!
 
My baby also starts to wake up middle of the night - usually around 3+am since 2 days ago.. dun know why...

Germayn also..she's still waking up at night, normally at about 4+am. Then ytd night, she cried for an hour plus... Didn't know what she wanted. Mabbe it's becos she was having blocked nose, then very xin ku.

Re: Flipping at night
Thought of getting one sleep positioner when Germayn started to flip at night, but the slp positioners tt i saw were only for use up till 6 mths. as in, they're quite low, so i think our babies can easily mount over that. haha. Then now, Germayn's problem is sitting up at night. She'll sit up with her eyes closed and cry. Abit scary..as in, afraid tt she'll slp walk when she starts walking cos i tink she's slp sitting now.

Ryan used to move 180 degrees too but since he is flipping now, he sleeps on his side and then when he does not know how to flip to his back, he will flip to his tummy and raise his head and whine lor....that's where I come to his rescue but also resulted me being a "panda bear" soon (dark circles)

Kristen's been waking up at nite around 3 plus or 4 plus depending on when her last feed was & on when she falls asleep. Last nite cos we havin dinner then she fussed a little.. then I didn't know the maid went to feed her already before the wipe-down for bed. Jialat. She so hard to fall asleep after that & also wake up earlier. Which reminds me, have to go n tell the maid of my usual nite time routine with my girl so that she dun disrupt it.


Flipping at nite:
When she was a newborn.. I'd make her sleep on her back or side. But as soon as she started learning how to flip (& her neck steady already), she seemed more comfortable & could fall asleep by herself on her tummy. She would automatically flip when I put her down to her bed then fall asleep. Even when she's sleeping in my arms and I put her down, she'd flip n go back to sleep. It makes it easier to pat her bumbum to dreamland also. BUT... last nite, I noticed for the first time that she will roll back onto her back again but continue sleeping. So... I guess independent liao lor. Mummy has no say on how she sleeps already. =/

Was a little worried at first (sometimes I still am), cos she will rub rub rub her face into her mattress before she fall asleep. It's quite vigorous & she will also flip her head left n right every 1 second when she is trying to fall asleep. Even my mum who saw also shocked. Looks as if it can be painful. Dunno what's wrong.. but eventually she'll fall asleep lor.

Joykel, erm see doctor? esp when feed medicine still vomit.. like not getting anything in wor..

refuse milk at all? if he drinks little, is like that when babies are sick, intake is reduced but if totally dun drink, then perhaps go back to the PD and ask what he/she can do?

How long after take rice cereal do u all start to introduce home cook porridge to your baby?
 
Hi joykel, is he taking water? think must at least have some fluid intake, if not must bring back to doctor. you syringe feed the medicine? mabbe feed a little a little at a time? like..use syringe, feed 0.2ml first, then praise him and feed 0.2ml, and so on... duno if this will work...but mabbe can try cos if feed little then he prob can't vomit out.
 
then use syringe to feed must feed from side of their mouth, then it'll flow in. that was what i realised from the nurse in kkh when they fed my elder kids fever medicine

when babies r sick, usually their appetitie will drop. As long as u feed them fluids to prevent them from being dehydrated shld be ok. Is he eating cereal if he doesn't wan milk? the way i feed my boy medicine is I pinch his nose so that he will open his mouth to take the medicine, use a syringe to feed him at the side of his mouth. Then quickly feed him water to wash down the medicine.

Wah, i thot my boy is the only baby tat wakes up at nite for nite feed. Sometimes, he very funny, wakes up ard 3/4 am to make a fuss. thot he wans milk but when i feed him, he uses his tongue to reject the teats. But he jus cannot sleep tight after tat. Sigh...Dunno wat to do. Any advice?

vegetable is hard to puree is u using the manual one. Fruits are ok. Some other food like sweet potatoes, pumpkin, potatoes, carrot, u may have to cook it till soft then easier.

As for veg, which veg u intent to give? spinach and brocoli is the one we start with. Can give peas, califlower etc.

did u try feed a bit of medi then a bit of water? May be he not use to the taste of the medi and sometime medi too sweet and thick he cant swallow all.
