(2006/07) JULY 2006 MTB

YB,

From experience bbies will change their pattern when they are sick or change of environment but this is not the case for urs.

U carry her when u feed her? Is it very warm?
Or u try another way of feeding her.

For me i will put Ju on a high pillow (adult pillow) but not lay flat and feed him.

I recalled my elder daughter also reduce her intake of milk after full month - 3 months.

My boy already use medium teat liao. The Small hole is too tiny.

Lucida,
Which beauty saloon u went? Aiyo, ask them for refund. Dun get conned by them.
U are not the only person looking after bb alone. U can do it.

Yenny, Dsii,
I cant make it to the gathering. So sorry.
My superior sms me and asked me to start work earlier cos another collick is going to due soon. She need to hand over her work to me.

Hi Hong, I went to De beaute. I think the machine actually overstretch my skin and spolit my skin layers. It's hideous. Regretted so much.. my tummy was smooth before that. nOw I have permanent scarring.. I'm demoralise as this would not have happen if I did not go to the slimming centre. I wonder if I can lodge a complain with CASE. I think it might be difficult to get them pay for my treatment. think I might have to go for aesthetic treatment if I really want to get rid of the stretch marks but that would be very expensive..

lucida
called the ctr 1st...and see wat they say loh..if not can call CASE..see if they can help..no harm trying...

Lucida,
My husband also always go on biz trips, twice a month that kind, plus at nights sometimes have to go out entertain clients. I kind of can understand how you feel. Take care of baby whole day, when he comes back at night then can relax a bit. But if he not at home, then very sien liao. How do you settle your dinner then? For me, if husband don't come back for dinner/abroad, I don't feel like going to my in laws. Very uneasy. But they will want to come over, because they are the kind that need to see their grandson everyday. I move to my mother's house when husband not in country. HAve to bring loads of things- steriliser, bottles, fm, daipers..... but alone 24hrs is very tiring for me. Since your mother is working, why don't you bring to your in laws? Are they like mine- always welcome baby with open arms?

My in laws... sometimes make me very fan2. When we go for dinner, both of them will compete to finish their dinner to carry the baby. When I bring baby over in the stroller, halfway on the road I will be "hijacked" by them. Yesterday we went to a party. My mil don't want to eat because she wants to carry the baby. Not that I don't let them play or carry the baby. We go there pretty often. Sigh.... I am going back to work soon. Baby will be there for long hours. They won't have to fight nor rush to carry the baby anymore.

I think it is better for me to go to work. Staying at home makes me talk about nothing but baby's poo, feed... I think my husband is sick of hearing all these. And also it makes me very possesive of baby, so I always complain about my in laws. My husband don't like it. I think all these makes the flame go out of our marriage.

Many people say the baby makes the bond between husband and wife stronger. i think I have to work hard at rekindling the passion in our relationship!!!

Hi Hong,
I did not change my way of feeding my gal. She seems to reject the medium teat cos I think it's too firm. When I use back the old teat, she can drink more. I'll sterilise the new teat more to make it softer so that my gal will accept.

Last night was very bad for me. Hubby came down with fever & diahorrea. We suspected it may be HFMD cos his colleague was infected by his daughter & still went to work. So I isolated bb from hubby & had to sleep with bb in another room. Then mayb bb not used to it, keep waking up at 2am, 3am, 5am & 7am. Sigh...So i didn't sleep at all last night. Somemore hubby keep running to the toilet the whole night, so very noisy.

Luckily today he feeling better & since he did not have ulcers/spots on his body, we suspect it might just be stomach flu. But for precaution, I'm still looking after bb all on my own. Sigh, can't bring bb to my mum's plc cos mum is also taking care of nephew & niece and my sis scared bb will pass the virus to them. yawn!!

Hi Lucida,
Stretch marks will also appear when u slim down too fast. I used to have very smooth tummy too. But during confinement, I lost 5kg within 2 wks. Then all the stretchmarks appear on both sides of my waists. Mayb ur treatment is too effective?

YB,
HFMD shld not have diahorrea. Check ur hubby hand and foot and also his mouth to see if there is blister and ulcers.

Those area he touch have to be clean with bleach solution. It is more effective than cleaning with dettol.

Bleach cleaning solution.
Use 1 cap of bleach add into a pail of water. Ratio is 1:50 or 1:100

Lucida,
aiyo.. how? Can try bringing up to CASE.

Dsii,
got to be fair cos the collick took care of the project for me while i am away. So i shld go back and take over from her.

Hi Hong,
I checked the MOH's website on HFMD. It mentioned that diahorrea is 1 of the symtoms of HFMD. Aiyoh...like that I have to clean up my whole house lieo...I spray the bedroom & nursery with dettol disinfectant. But HFMD cannot be transmitted thru touch, right? Only thru saliva?

Mich - *blush* Me type salah liao...yup, Drypers lah.

Talking about milk intake being reduced, my boy sometimes drink lessen then his norm esp. when he is mang chang. So, we will just play along. By the next feed, he will be drinking more than his norm coz hungry mah...I guess we just have to feed on demand.

hi mummies,

so long havent been in the forum....cos I brought my boy to the babysitter and was there to "supervise" to make sure everything is ok before I start work in Oct but then, I felt that the babysitter is very rough...I think because she has 18 yrs of experience and it seems to her it is no big deal when dealing with babies but to me, I dun think so lor. There are also certain ways which I dun agree so I did tell her. So instead of going to work in Oct, I will be taking unpaid leave till jan 07 (if only it is approved) to take care of him myself by going to my mum's place. My mum is willing to stop work end of this year to take care of him.

I really cant bear to leave my boy in other people care...I am sure mummies here know how I feel. I think if I really go back to work, my heart will always be with my boy...

Hi mummies,
If baby got diarrhoea, how long will he take to recover? I have brought bb to PD 2 times already, give medicine already, and bb will be finishing the medicine tonight. Stools not that watery, pasty already, but frequency still around 6-7 times per day, a bit each time, how har?

haiz, MIL... always got problem 1 lar...
den bcoz i dun like d way she do thing den tell hb, hb dun care den we quarrel...

She is the source of our quarrel, somtimes i wonder can't she jus shut up??? everything oso 1 2 say, 1 2 kpo. den make things worse when she tot she is helping...

YB,
if ur hubby hand have blisters then will be transmitted hor. Why not u bring ur girl to ur mum place 1st? It is no joke is the bb got it.

Hi Hong,
My mum refuses to take bb in cos scared bb will transmit virus to my nephew & niece. I think it's very unfair. Cos still not sure if it's really HFMD. And they already avoided us like hell. y mum forbid me to go their house for 1 week. I have no one else to turn to. Anyway, my hubby doesn't have blisters on his hands. And his fever has gone down & diahorrea is getting better.

Hi Mich

Totally agree with u abt the MIL issue, same for me, MIL is always the root cause of our quarrel..very xian...
She always fly our kite n make things troublesome for us. for the recent case,we goin 2 wedding dinner this sat, so very long b4 oredi tell her come help to take care of bb liao so ask her change working schedule then yest she say cannot come. Somemore is when we ask again then she say. if not then diam diam 1...

Jasline, is ur baby still on bm? If so think 6-7 times a day is ok ba.. at least tt was what my PD told me when i suspected tt my gal has diarrhoea and brought her to see him. Or mabbe if ure giving your baby fm, u can change to a lactose free one first. That was what my PD prescribed last time when i brought my older boy to him when he was a few months old and had diarrhoea.

Blessings, i understand what u mean. Cos my older kids have been falling ill so so so often cos they are attending childcare, my in laws and husband suggested having my MIL take care of the twins again(she was taking care of them b4 baby arrived) and send my baby gal to a babysitter cos she wont be able to handle 3 kids alone and she doesnt think it's good to hire a maid. Then they suggested having one of my husband's grand aunt of something like tt. But it's like... i really dun like the idea of having 'someone else' to take care of the baby when she's still so young. And i feel ive become more attached to her thruout these 2 months and i really wont be fang4 xing1... duno how also...

Jurong gal,

Haiz, for me lehz... long story... she hurt me badly 3 yrs plus ago by sayin some nasty things, i complain to hb n till today hb den tell her off, den she tell hb she did not mean what she say and oso say she cannot help it if i wat to feel hurt.

Then i told hb 2 scenarios, 1. next time i call ur mum a pros n tell her sorry i did not mean it, or 2. next time u take a knife and stab her and tell her oh sorry i stabbed u.

The prob wif my MIL is sometimes she reali dun use her brains to think b4 she talk.

Den now i so angry, i move to my mum's place to stay n i tell my hb i think i'll move back to my mother's place to stay for gd, he onli care bout the BB, but wat bout me? AM I a machine that jus to give birth to his kid or wat?

Nobody care's bout my feeling...

Hi mummies,
Just went to my GP & he prescribe some medications to help me slim down faster. It's to flush out water from body & burn fats. Hopefully it'll really help me to go back to pre-preg weight!

Hi Mich,

my MIL also neva tink before she shoots her mouth off,dun even bother 2 use her butt to tink...LOL..
Last weekend brought bb 2 her home, then she blast music like normal karaoke n leave bb on sofa very near the TV. I was so angry that i couldnt sleep the whole nite...So we decided to "punish" her by not bringing bb over for the next weekend.. haha...
U staying with ur IL's ? For me we dun stay together, so i simply avoid her as much as possible to avoid sparking off World War III.....

But i believe ur hb still cares alot about u, just that daddys r just overwhelmed by the cute little bb n sorta neglected us...Talk more abt it 2 ur hb so that he will noe n understand..

z-lia, I am giving my baby FM, and have changed the milk to soy formula, as told by the PD. It is already a week and though the stools are not watery, and pasty now, the frequency still don't reduce. That's why I am worried.

Mich, wat happen. u sound so angry. sorry i didnt read ur story.

YB,
Aiyo, u so poor thing. Since ur hubby to getting better then i dun think is HFMD. May be stomach flu but stomach flu is also contigious hor.

Btw, ur GP so gd ah. Last time i asked my GP but he refused to give me cos he feel i need to exercise n control diet n i am not obesse yet.

Hi Hong,
Yah, I see this GP for my hyperthyroid. He said normally I can slim down very fast if I have hyperthyroid. Since now I have difficulty in slimming down, then mayb my hyperthyroid is normal already. My doc says the medication he gave me is not really for slimming, but more for getting rid of fluid retention which most preggies have. Even though we've already given birth, but the fluid still in our body.

I think I must have visited the toilet to pee more than 4 times an hour!! Didn't know I have so much water in me!!

Doc wants me to go back next week to review.

hi YB, thanks much! btw, after delivery, did u follow up on your thyroid condition huh? i stopped my meds already but not sure if i need to follow up any more.

Hi missmoon,
My gynae (who has been monitoring my thyroid durin preg) told me to go off anti-thyroid meds for 3wks before going back to my GP for another test.

It's been 4 weeks & I've just went to c my GP for a blood test tis morn. He's the one who prescribe the water retention & fat burner pills for me. Will go back to him next week for review & also to collect my blood test report.

I understand if u stop meds on ur own, the thyroid condition will reoccur again. So it's better to go back to ur doc for another test.

hi YB
thanks again. ya, the doc asked me to stop meds after delivery, he also did blood test. so shld be ok liao, just need to follow up maybe 6 months, i guess. cos this was a pregnancy related condition, hope go away forever liao.

YB,
really ah.. u see if u slim down. Then i also go and ask my GP. hee hee.

this is my bb Julian recent look. I took it just now.

haiz.. very tired.. tomorrow then my mum will come over to my place and stay with me overnight. Not easy these few days alone with baby. got to wash clothes, bottles, and if cook, wash dishes.. etc.. still got 5 more days before hubby back.

Today went to settle the stretch mark porblem with the slimming centre. Good that mum came over to help (she was on MC..). Pending the manager to come back to me on what they can do.

Haiz.. I guess this stretch mark serve as a reminder to me on not to be vain and let nature take course. Not going on any slimming treatment and will just do the safe way to slim down - exercise!

Hi Z-lia,

I terminated the babysitter service today. Not that she is no good but I dun agree the way she handle my boy...so might as well terminate early cos I really could not bear to leave him in her care....though I have to forfeit the babysitter;s fees...alas

And because of this, has conflict with my hubby...he said I always change my mind...now he suggests that we get a maid to help me if I can get unpaid leave till Jan 07 else place my boy in infant care centre where there will be professionals to look after him and play with him rather than sleep in babysitter's place all the time and somemore she does not carry him at times...like so poor thing!!!Is all babysitter like that? I think so...only mothers will want to carry their babies no matter how long it takes them!

hello blessings

I share the same sentiments as u. I am from the june thread actually. As I do not feel very good leaving my son in my nanny's hands, I took leave to stay at home till Jan 07. I really enjoy my time at home actually. EVeryday seems to pass so fast and I am not very sure what I have done actually. lol

Mich - So sorry to hear about your troubles with MIL. I tell you ah....most MILs are like that. Maybe you can have a heart-2-heart talk with you DH and solve the issues lor. Hugs to you and remember that we do care about you. *muah*

YB - How are you, DH and bb doing? Sending over lots of quick recovery vibes!!!

Hong - Your Ju sooooooo cute!!! Want to kiss him leh!!!

Hi Mich, My MIL so different from yours. She completely dun ask .. will only see her if ask her to come to help me. Maybe it's a blessing. But to be fair to her, how would she know I need help if I dun ask.

Sometimes quite frustrating. Now with baby, I have to rely on others. Not that I cannot take care of baby myself (sometimes I just eat bread cos no chance to cook..) but I need to go out occassionally and for this I need someone to come and take care of baby. I felt that I'm bothering others but what to do. If my mum don't need to work how nice - can just ask her to come. MAybe I'm just not used to asking people whom I'm not very close to. Probably this is the chance to build close relationship with MIL.

Hi Mummies,

Thanks for your opinions and words of encouragements.

MIL - in overall i would say she is a nice person, only thing is her mouth nt gd lor. Talk too much but she dun realise it.

Hong,

My story arhz, aiya, whatelse but MIL. Hey, ur bb so cute lehz, lke gettin ready to post for the camera.

Jurong gal,

nope, i dun stay wif her n thank god i dun.

JP,

Haiz, HB, talk to him... He oso like dat... I resign myself to fate lor, who ask me to love a block of wood.

Lucida,

Like dat gd lor, at least ur MIL still ok. Mine like to poke into ppl's business all the time 1...

Hi missk,

yes you are right...time really pass very fast...dunno what I have really done at times!

Rather than staying at home alone with my boy, I go to my mum's place, at least there are more people to play with him so I can do some of my stuff!

Any mummies here seldom take afternoon naps despite waking up often to feed at nights? I feel that I really nap but when it comes to night feed, I regretted not sleeping...alas!

blessings,
u can terminate baby sitter, but i cannot terminate mil next time even if i dun want her to take care of baby. so can only learn to like her. she also very rough with baby. insist on using tissue paper to wipe baby's buttocks. wipe until all red. and a lot of "last time pple this n that"... what feed urine to baby if he appetite not gd, use other people's table cloth to wipe baby's mouth if he drools... i hope say say only...or if she do also better dun let me know!!!

Help! My gal keeps choking on her feeds..water and milk. She looks like she is trying to catch her breath...like if you hold your breath for very long then start to breathe very hard... she'll also cough cough if cannot clear her throat she'll vomit...on sunday when we had dinner in a restaurant, she puke all over me!!

So angry with my hubby, he said i never concentrate when i was feeding her...rattling non-stop while i struggle to clean her puke from her face and my blouse and comfort her..... he just stand there and watch and scold.

...sigh....she puke 3-4 times recently already. Once she puke so much on me and while trying to catch her breath the puke got into her nose, she cried even louder and got me so worried!

was wondering if it the teats??

Decimalpoint,
My mom taking care of my baby. But she's also the same...say last time people do this and that. No need to sterilise bottle, no need to be so clean (many times she never clean her poo properly) etc... She also wash her buttock when she poo now with tap water,I told her to use warm water but she say it's ok one lah....she won't feel cold
sad.gif

Then she'll say that's how she brought me up also. I dunno how to tell her that's why I so ruo(weak)....and I dun want my gal to be the same.

hi gals...
all talking abt "baby-sitter" huh.

currently my boy is in infantcare... but he can hardly sleep there. so by the time i pick him at 630pm, always see his eyes redred. then by 7+pm, sure knock out liao.
sad.gif
see liao v heartpain leh.

now i am thinking should i change to a nanny. but wat if i dun like again? sigh...

any comments?

Poppy - ya, older pple dun sterilise bottle etc. but i myself wash my boy's bum under the tap. think it's ok leh. :p

oh, recently my boy down with Cold. but after 5days, he is much better.

but he stop smiling now liao... (infact, first 2 days when he is sick, he still smile)
why huh? how to make him smile again?
i miss his smile... *sob sob*
