YT,
wanna tell u that i also getting Dumex Mamil gold that ur describe. The Paper label, so i think shld be fine. Can u PM me ur Dumex contact?
TQ

Hi Alvina, My baby also vomit alot of milk. Later found out that it's because I drink cow's milk (EBM). Stop taking all cow's product (inc. cheese etc..) for the moment and baby did not vomit so much now, just regugitate milk. PD say baby have reaction to cow's product and had stomach upset. if I want to supplement with formulae, PD recommend to use either goats or soymilk.

Hi Stefern,

Since he's taking the same milk since birth then the milk shld be ok. It only happen recently right? if he keeps on vomiting... i suggest u give him lesser each time but shorten the interval...and try to burp him often in between feed... it shld keep the milk down...

I was lactose intoralence too during preg...but my bb is not... just need to feed him lesser at each time. After abt 2 mths,he's ok liao...

Hi Lucida,

Then mean your bb is allergic to cow's pdt... but stop for the time being...

Meanwhile we all keep working on breastfeeding and pumping ya?
I read that when bb suckle on breast, they need more effort, that's why very tiring for them so they tend to fall asleep while latching on... so need to feed at shorter interval...

for milk supply... it's either u pump regularly at 3hrly or latch on... of cos let ur bb suckle will definitely have more milk supply... it's the demand-supply theory lor... but very tiring lor...

i'm always worry that my bb is not getting enough... n I cant attend to her all the time as I have another child - my 2.5yrs old boy... terrible twos!!!! REally!!! No joke!

Alvina,

My supply will going on well during the first month, manage to TBF but now it is decreasing. though i let bb latch on to increase the supply, it doesnt seems to work. Now i am giving partial FM in the night... Would want to TBF back but...
For me, i am not a big eater after my confinement thus is this one of the factor for low supply..

Hi red-ridden,

If u really want to TBF, i think u must let your bb latch on more... that will increase milk supply... that's what i read lah... You shld also drink more water and eat a balance diet...

I realise if i eat more before i pump, there will be more milk... if i skip my meal, the supply decreases... dont know if it's directly related?????

OC, haiz.. i tried the methods u mentioned before.. i hope its really the growth spurts he is experiencing..,

just now he also refuse to take nap..cry and cry when i put him in the cot. can see he already very tired, cos he fall asleep soon after i carry him. so i put him in a carrier while i keep the laundry and prepare dinner. he doze off lor.. so many sounds he still sleep very soundly.. then now i transfer him to his cot.. so far so good.. god bless me pls!

btw mummies, i'll be off to work on monday... alot of u might qn, why so fast? bo pian, i freelancer on unpaid ML, ever since preg already stop working so got pple call i better work...might be a week's work, might be longer, so i'll not be very active in the day already, will miss u all badly... will nv forget the afternoons we spent chatting here.. :.( and i'll miss my bb too, suddenly i become weekend mummy liao..

Hi Alvina,
it is really difficult to breastfeed but i would encourage you to latch bb on again. for my bb, drink 5 min and fall asleep on the breast, wake up less than half hr ask for more milk. gradually, became 1 hr or 1.5 hr. It is true that when you give bottle, they will last longer. Whether it be BM or FM. I direct feed my bb most of the time and now at wk 8, she is drinking every 1.5 to 2 hrs.Actually 15min is quite good for the bb. Usu, the most amt of milk with letdown during expressing is also within the 15min. so dun give up...

misaryeo
my boy is experiencing the same thing as ur son. For the last two days and nites, the naps he took nvr exceed 30mins. He doesn't want to sleep at all and if he does sleep, he does not sleep soundly. Dunno wat to do... I thot babies suppose to sleep 15hrs per day. But judging by the sleep he had, i think he only sleep 6 or 7 hrs per day. Aiyo, wat is happening...

as the bb grows older, he or she requires less sleep.

Yenny, how come your bb only sleeps 6/7 hours per day? How about the night?

i noe alot of u going to kill me with this question... but i kinda of worry leh.

my bb,11weeks,seems to sleeps alot leh. it's tat normal? like today, he woke up at ard 6am, stare at cot mobile, bathe, feed, slept from 1030am to 2pm, feed, then slept from 330 to 5pm, feed, then slept from 530pm to 7pm, bathe then feed, then slept at 830pm to now.

is it normal?

MTDT,
this is normal for bb at 1-3 months. Do ur baby like to interact with pple? Does he responses? If so then nothing to worry.

Misaryeo,
sorry cant help u on ur problem. May be u wait and see for another few days if he still like that.

Mummies,
Personally i feel it is abt time we can try to set some routine to the bb. Will be easier for the caregiver after u return to work.

hallo mummies, regarding my bb not sleeping, i realise something yesterday night. as usual ard 8 plus he already tired. after i clean him up n he has his last feed (FM 120ml)at abt 1030pm, he asked for more milk, and he suckled ttl of 30mins on both breasts! he kept dozing off in our arms but whenever put in cot he'll cry. so after much getting in n out of cot... while i was tending to his cries, i wondered how come he can sleep on my bed but not in his own cot, the only diff is sometimes when onmy bed, he dun hav his pillow. so i remove his pillow, and guess wat? he stop crying n doze off within 10 mins byhimself!
He is uncomfortable with the pillow all this while! his pillow is those type with a hole in the middle.

i hope i'm right, cos he slept soundly ater that... hopefully tonight it'll be easier for him to sleep already. i intend to get pacificer for him already, cos thot he like to suckle.. so now the pacificer can on hold first! when i see him so sound asleep, i feel so good.. at least he is getting enuf rest

missk
I really dun know. His naps usually dun last more than half an hr. Even at nite, he doesn't sleep soundly. Now he doesn't even like to sleep in cot, he can only sleep on rocker. Sigh, i really gave up. his sleep has no regular pattern, no routine. Very difficult for my mother who's gg to take care of him at nite.

yenny .. i understand how that feels. Before, my son was like this too. I had to carry him for an hour, wait for him to sleep very soundly then place him on the cot. It was very tiring indeed.

Try setting a routine for him. Let him have as many short naps in the afternoon as he wants. What time is hie bedtime?

gd morning mummies,

my boy threw up his milk almost every feeds yesterday. My CL said that it is due to wond in his tummy which is also true cos when we pat on his tummy, it produced hollow sound....so we put Ru Yi ointment...during his evening feed, he again threw out everything and the milk also came out from his nose...this time, I am getting very worried so we brought him to see the PD. The doc said it is due to reflux and not so much of "wind" as we have described. He gave some medicine and my boy is able to take in the milk else he is so hungry yet cannot swallow and also very tired at the same time. See him like that also very poor thing and heartache. Doc said must feed him in 45 degrees position and dun put him immediately to bed....must stay upright for abt 15-20 mins.

Thank God that he is much better today. Luckily my CL is back to help me yesterday else I really do not know what to do...

MTDT
i wish my bb can be like yours ah, eat well sleep well

misaryeo
my bb oso likes to suckle but she doesnt wan d pacifier leh...so did ur bb slept thru d nite?

missk
u said u used to hv to carry ur son for an hr to wait for him to sleep soundly then out in cot, then wat happened, how abt now?

so are we supposed to control their daytime naps so dat they can sleep longer at nite or jus let them sleep as much as they wan in d day?

Hello MTDT, Germayn's weight at week 6 is 4.55kg.

Brought her to the PD today cos it seemed that she has abit of diarrhoea cos she poo-ed like..6-7 times from 1am to this morning at 10am when she had only 3 feeds. And her nappy rash is really bad..her whole butt's red. Then PD said she shouldnt be having diarrhoea, cos poo-ing frequently is normal for bf babies, if the colour of the stools are normal (yellow) and she's gaining weight. But well, regarding the nappy rash, and some other rashes here and there, he said that she has sensitive skin, eczema. Sigh. expected also la, cos my husband and my older boy has it. then i got childhood asthma, so also linked to eczema. no wonder all the nappy rash creams dont seem to work for her.

Hi Z-Lia, I suspect my daughter have sensitive skin as well... last sunday i tried to put new diaper (pampers baby dry) for her to try... then her butt got nappy rash... n that was the only piece i let her try... now i put on her usual pampers cotton care n always apply desitin after every 3 - 4 hr change, seems like recovering but wonder why is it like peeling??

Last night at ard 3:30am, Charlene woke up for her milk... after she finished her usual 3oz... she threw up too... from her mouth n nose... wonder what happen... it is true that bcos of the wind in her stomach... but I always burp her after every feed... my husband suspect it's bcos we laid her flat for her feed... 2day seems to be better...

missk
I dun dare to let him sleep too early, scared he cannot get to sleep at nite. Usually he sleeps at 10 or 11pm.

dsii
i cannot tahan already. went to get a sarong cradle. he can sleep very well in it. hope he can sleep soundly tonite.

eeyore,
U mean u put her on the bed laid flat and feed her? Cannot lay the baby flat while feeding.

i also have a pack of pamper baby dry which is a gift.

Momies,
i tried petpet but i still prefer Nepia.

yenny,
i give in to sarong long time ago

yenny..
happy that he can sleep well in it? me happy and worried at the same time...happy cos me more xin lang..but worried he cant sleep without sarong...but as long as he can sleep well in it and fast asleep..i dun care liao...already show my white flag liao...

yenny - at nite, he wakes up 4-5hrs for feed.

pillow - act my boy also dun like the pillow. so i seldom use. my boy sleeps on a nappy cloth.

another thingy abt cot - do u gals put the bumper? it's v hot when the bumper is up as no wind mah. as bb cannot move much now, i dun put the bumper.

OC, Yes he slept thru for 2 nites already!!!... my mum damn lucky, cos she takign care of bb frm next week, during weekday, going to be easy for her..

MTDT, regarding bumper i might start putting already cos i realise my son now shifts alot, esp without the pillow.. so scare he hit the sides. i just went to get a bumper to put up just in case..

MTDT,
I am gg to put the bumper today cos a few times I found the baby turned 90 degrees in his sleep and he likes to use his feet to kick himself near to the edge of the cot. When he gets agitated, he kicks even harder. I am gg to put only one side- the side near the wall so that the cot is still ventilated.

My baby caught a cold from me
sad.gif
This morning diarrheoa also. Went to PD again. Yesterday night whole night didn't sleep cos' he was cranky throughout..

I've already started putting cot bumper since my gal only a few wks old. Cos she can turn herself round the cot already then...so scared her head or legs will get stuck.

Hi all, I'm kind of confuse about the shelf life for expressed breastmilk. If kept in freezer, read that the shelf life is 2months provided it's a double door freeze - what is consider as double door?? In my freezer there's a compartment which is for fast freezing - can this be consider as double door?? I read that if it's just inside the freezer than shelf life is just 2 weeks - all my hard work for the past weeks gone liao leh.

Please advice.

hello Lucida, from what i know, fridge is 48hrs, then if the freezer is in the fridge (ive seen some fridges with like, small freezer compartments in them (both fridge and freezer share one door), size of a drawer kind), then it's 2 weeks, then those fridge that we normally have, which is like...below is the fridge, above the freezer. both each have their own doors, that one will be 2 months.

Hi mummies,

my boy seems to have tummy wind....I have applied the Ru Yee ointment but it prob helps a little. Is there other way to get rid of the wind? Shld I see a PD? Currently he is taking medicine to stop his vomitting after feeds.

hi... my boy also moves alot. :p

but in cot bed, i usu will put two bolster (one at each side) to "protect" him.

so far so good...

Hi mummies,
Anybody giving water to their babies? Pl advise.
My baby also vomits a lot after drinking milk, my mom says good buz whatever cough he is having also comes out. Don't know, i am scared.

Storing of breastmilk
Although some articles mentioned that we can store the breastmilk for several months, I do not follow that. After one or two months, I would try to use the breastmilk because the bb requires different nutrients at different stages.

Wind in tummy
You can also give him Gripe water or infancol. If the problem persists, see a PD. Does your bb cry when he has wind?

I do not give water to my bb because breastmilk already consists of 70% water. Hence, I find it unnecessary to supplement with water.

Gunjan: how often does your bb vomit? Is he losing weight? If you do not feel good, please see a PD. Better to be safe than sorry. My son vomitted a few times this month. I got really worried and saw a few doctors about it. lol, I am super kiasi. I just wanted to make sure that he's alrite.

Hi misaryeo, How did you (or your mum) get baby to sleep thr' night?? Now my baby wakes up at 10+ or 11pm, 3am and 6am (sometimes 5). I'm going crazy!!

hi, im asking on behalf of a friend who has given birth in july.

she breastfeeds her bb every 2 hrs. but she heard tt bb need not be fed after midnight/1am. but it seems like her bb is still waking up every night (after midnight) for a feed. bb will cry until he gets his feed.

ive never heard tt bb need not be fed after midnight/1am. can someone correct us?

thanks.

Hi missk,
last wk, seen PD, says weight is o.k., forgot to ask him abt. water and baby's tendency to vomit milk. ( so many question to one busy PD, feel pity on him hee hee hee)

my baby boy, soooo naughty, put up all milk in his mouth, within a fraction of second, suddenly throw away everything . so I used to put bottle in warm water, thinking that he gets little warm milk, but
sad.gif
same thing. me so tired. buz his stomach not full . so whenever he wakes up,try to feed him.

hi missk,

my baby seems ok except he has lots of burps after feeding him...so got to keep him upright for a while. Yes, I am giving him gripe water to try it out hope it helps....

hi gunjan, i notice baby has the tendency not to swallow completely too....my baby is like that too so I have to make sure he swallow his milk before I burp him. If yr baby keeps vomitting, u shld see a PD? sometimes can be reflux.

Wind in tummy or colic - i realise infancol doesnt really help much. Gripewater can only help a little. Most of the time is how bb is feed.

GunJan,
i give water, cos my bb will have dry lips.

Wah...not logged in for several days and I feel as though I have missed ALOT! Gonna play catch-up now...

Gripe Water - This is something which I can't do without. Whenever my boy has colic or constipation (this I learn from the experts here...
happy.gif
), I will give my boy diluted gripe water. This is indeed a must have!

Merlion / Vomitting Milk - This is something which my boy has and still have. Been to the Pedi also and she said its due to bad reflux but...it will go off when my boy grows older. Pedi also gave my boy some medicine which does help quite a bit. Several things which I tend to do - burp him (however, its seems so hard for my boy to burp..haiz!) and ensure that he is upright for at least 30 mins. Pedi also told us to weigh out boy. As long as he is gaining weight, no worries. If he is losing weight, have to see Pedi again.

Feeds - Not to sure about not feeding our babies at nite. My boy still wakes up 2-3 hours either nite or day for his makan. So, not to sure about your Q, edksd...sori can't help much!

Water - Yup, I also give my boy some water coz he has constipation. Besides that, also give diluted gripe water.

Cot bumper - Same here, started to put the cot bumper too coz my boy is beginning to turn round and round...better to be safe or else will get buah duku.

Sending lots of quick healing vibes to all mommies and babies who are not feeling well. Get well soon, sweeties!!!

edksd,

Basically there is really no need to feed the baby every 2 hrs. If I did not remember wrongly, the norm for a new born is every 3 hrs, unless the baby cry for milk. I guess we should really feed the baby on demand instead or if it exceed 3 and a half hour then you wake the baby up for a feed.

What happend to my baby now is I will let him have a last feed at about 11pm to 12pm, he will sleep through the night to about 5-6am before making noise for milk.

Hong,
I would only partly agree with you. I use both infacol and gripewater, and it does help for my baby. However, I agree with you on how to the baby is being fed is also impt to less the possibility of colic.

I gave my baby 1 does of gripewater every morning. And unless he start to get cranky once in a blue moon for no reasons, then I will give him a does of infacol.

Hi all Mummies,

I am also a July Mum. Can anyone help me on these? My BB seems to gain 500g every week. Is this normal? I am feeding my BB 100ml of EBM every 2 to 3 hrs, is this too much? My BB is almost 6kg at 6 weeks old.

Melody,
If only feeding on EBM should be fine. Unless you are supplementing it with FM. If not, as long as baby drink, should not be a prob. All this are baby fats. Will go away as they grow up.

Hi Liverpool,

I actually supplement him with some FM if I don't hv enough BM and the amount I give is still 100ml. Usually just once a day the rest are BM.

Melody,

Shouldn't be a problem, but must remember to follow the exact amount stated on the tin. People usually add extra amount of milk powder to the water instead. Per scoop must be level flat instead of per scoop with a "small mountain" on top.
