Useful information to share:
Mental Development 15 months old
Your toddler knows parts of his body, some objects in a book, can make animal sounds, and will try to take off his cloths, if asked. He will fetch and carry simple things. He has acquired the concept of cattiness, i.e., he knows that a picture of a cat, a toy cat and a real cat are all cats.
Locomotion 15 months old
Your child can kneel and lower his body to sit without support; he can stand up, creep up stairs and walk. His steps are high, unsteady and of unequal length and direction.
Manipulation 15 months old
Your toddler can pick up and hold a cup, drink from it and put it down without spilling much. She can feed herself with a spoon and get it to her mouth before everything runs off. She can build a tower of three blocks, try to turn over the pages of a book and to put on some of her clothes herself.
Sociability: 15 to 18 months old
Your child is becoming more helpful, both with chores and dressing and undressing. She will show love to family members, pets and dolls. She shows an increasing interest in adults and want to imitate them. She enjoys social gatherings. She plays next to but nit with another child.
Bladder Control: 15 months old
Your child now begins to perceive when he feels the urge to void and may draw your attention with a sound or point to his nappy. But he cant hold on for a second.
Bowel Control: 15 to 18 months old
Your baby empties her bowel after eating because of gastrocolic reflex. She is not yet ready to use the potty but you may be able to catch stools after meals.
Personality: 36 weeks to 18 months old
Your baby has become more distinctly herself, showing that she is serious, sensitive, independent, sociable, irritable, preserve, determined, able to concentrate, curious, impatient, etc. Once she is a year old, your baby will show how determined and independent she is by going through a stage of negativism, becoming impatient, short-tempered, irritable, defiant, naughty and unloving. By 15 months, however, a new thoughtful, helpful stage will emerge, and she will show an obvious desire to please. She will strive for your approval and be desolated when you disapprove of her.
Speech: 12 to 18 month old
Your toddler may say two or three words with meaning, but even before saying them, he recognizes a few simple objects when pointed out. Some of his words are acquired backwards, e.g. he may start saying g for dog, then og and finally dog. Others may start from the front, e.g. g for girl. At about 15 months, he may break gradullay into jargon, which is strings of his own unintelligible sounds, but with emphasis, inflections, phrasing, actions and the odd real words together. He may repeat a short phrase which you say often, e.g. Dear me in appropriate circumstances. At 18 months old your toddler may be able to point out many objects in book and everyday life. He should be able to use about 10 words with meaning.
