I stay in jurong west. But the only choice I will consider in JW is Pat's schoolhouse. So its either Pats, Learning Ladder( if they have for her age) or lorna whiston. I prefer LW cos she will definitely be there next year for N1. so in a sense it will give her continuity plus she is quite familiar with the environment after being there to fetch S so many times.

Yep, I called the school and asked if I could enroll Kelly. They said no as they only accepted 2 years old and above. I was thinking of looking for a temporary school for Kelly for the next six to 12 months then move her to the Learning Ladder. Their affiliation with the international schools is really a big draw for me. Is there a LW in the West? Are you considering Pat’s Schoolhouse at Arena? Have you went down and viewed it yet? You may want to consider Cherie Hearts too. But I have yet to go down and take a look.

oh that means I dun even need to call TLL liao. I had went down to pat's at arena twice... but the intake is always vv low leh... each class very few students only. Plus its not outdoor basis like lorna whiston. And the fees are more exp. Its my last choice right now. In a sense low intake is good since more attention for J but I keep wondering why low intake lah.

In this sense, LW makes more sense to me liao.... there is only one LW though.. its off alexandra road, near by workplace. Maybe I put J to try in LW for a few months... I am quite easy for playgroup since if its not suitable just stay at home lor. But J seemed to have speech delay and I hope the daily stimulation will do her good.

Don't think I will consider Learning Ladder if it is 5 days a week coz too far for me. Am going Kidsloft coz dont know where else to go liao and it is only 2 classes per week. Try and see if can survive for a term or not..keke.

It is the curriculum and how the subjects are being delivered and taught loh. International school uses more creative approaches in delivering subjects to the students as opposed to how the traditional schools taught the subject. It really kills off creativity and interests. Actually, we have been having many talks on Kell’s tertiary education. We don’t want her to grow up via the rigid education system here. Even when I looked at the three universities here… I can’t help but compared them to universities in the States. It is just so boring and conventional. And because I am in this trade and constantly exposed myself to the academicians… all the more that I don’t want my daughters to go through the education system here. Cynic hor? For international school, the ratio of Chinese, Indians and even Singaporeans are increasing too … so, that’s not too much of a problem for me.

Yea, in the first few years of her life, I don’t want Kell to be exposed to too westernized cultures. No matter what, she is a Chinese and she should be brought up with the right sets of values in her and this cultivation process should starts in her pre-school days loh.

same here.. I have reservations about the local education system and wanted to put my kids in international schools if possible. But many factors to consider. Currently putting them in LW preschool, I keep wondering if they are learning enough in a sense. Unlike other more academic settings, they do alot of crafts and non conventional leanring... no drilling etc... A bit difficult for me to gauge their progress.. not like they learn a letter a week kind ... then I can gauge more easily... so I do feel a little insecurity at times... if u know what i mean. But utimately I want them to have fun, to learn and find joy in learning.

The IB curriculum is a draw for me. I’m sure your children are learning lotsa of things from the crafts session! Creativity and how to express themselves is one of them. Do not be overly concerned over academic excellence … as long as they do well to get promoted every year, it is really good enough.

School went well for Jake. In fact, he adjusted well - he was really excited abt the school bus. Sat quietly and behaved well. At school, he din cry when i left for orientation. the teachers said he is very independent - just that he din like the sand when he was outdoor... ke ke...

New students go in 2 weeks apart... first week of feb is cny holidays.. disruption. There will be a field trip in feb 2nd half.

frankly i prefer to join 1st apr too. My hb is going for ICT 2 weeks in end march! I will have a headache transporting S to the school and back during lunch time and then J to school and me to work, and fetch her and go home. Take cab is totally out of question. I am exploring public transport. :~( Tough 2 weeks for me. So I told him at worst put J at home during that 2 weeks hehehee.... even if i go learn driving now hor, at least for the next 1 year I wont dare to drive alone with the kids... dun wanna joepardize their lives.
