are u working? u need the maid to look after bb? when the news on tues re. the indo maid went missing with the one yr old girl, i so scare. these maids are mad, nvr think of consequences.

I'm a part time tutor, need the maid to help out my mum with housework. My mum helps me to look after Jayden after she comes back frm work, so I can give tuition in the evening. As Jayden is an attention seeking bb, he wants to be carried every min when he's awake. My mum can't do housework lor and she seems tired recently so thinking of getting a maid to help her out

Re: Hair dropping
I oso ve same prob le. Strangely b4 pregnant already got hair dropping, then during pregnancy, no hair drops. Think it must be calcium pills i taking. But after pregnancy, my hair starts dropping again. So pretty scared to wash my hair.. else can see strands of hair. =p

Must gently wash.

Anyway I am taking calcium pills again these two days. Hope the prob would go away.

I won't recommend u to ve maid looking after bb, if possible. Mayb get them to do housework for u is still fine.

Yet... dunno if u mommies read.. that indo maid served the family her urine! OMG!

But, with bb ard, really got no spare time to do housework. And plus my hb going to change job n would not have time for the family housechores and myself thinking of going into work-related certifications. Dun think may ve much time left for housework lo.

Think different bb differ. Even mine, becoz of change of environments, also have to take time to adjust. So Mondays and Thursday, she will be a bit notty. =p

Xuanting too will smile and laugh at her own reflections. She seems to feel paiseh to see herself in the mirror.. turning her off as she smiles or giggles.

Re: Breastfeeding and hair dye
I tot one is not allowed to hair dye if breastfeeding?
Recently just dye my hair. The hair dresser asked me still got breastfeed or not. She said better dun, if got breastfeed le.

Re: Breastmilk in freezer
Just for my own knowledge (though dun breastfeed), do you place the breastmilk taken out from freezer to warm by putting into a warmer sort? Or just de-freeze it and feed bb /w milk?
 
Tiffany, you are not over-reacting la! is perfectly norm. like my hb he is very excited everytime his son laugh with him and only wants him to carry my boy. so is norm esp you are the mama.

Rach, i would suggest u bring yr bb every three day once to your mother hse. i face a lot of prob when i first bring bb to my mil hse. it took us almost 2 weeks to let the bb to get use.
 
Mirror,
KJ also love to stare at himself at the mirror while bathing. He got a toy that has a small mirror and he was always talking and laughing at it. This actually give me around 15min to get some housework done. However, when I bring him go shopping to look at big big mirror, he was not interested.

travel,
I asked my hubby last night if I can bring KJ on a short cruise. My husband got very surprise because I never like cruise. I was thinking about bringing KJ to experience it. After that I asked him if I can bring KJ to Hong Kong at the end of the year on my own. He said if I can handled him, why not. Hmmm... can start dreaming about it lah.

BB recognising mummy,
I am very very sure that they can recognise because KJ do not want anybody to carry him except me. Rach, I can understand how you feel. I also cannot go anywhere without him. So, instead of training him, I am now training myself to go everywhere with him alone. I just went to Plaza Singapura shopping on Tuesday with him alone. Soooob!

I paid $100 for the maid's hospitalisation insurance and $80 for the "RUNAWAY" protection. This is optional, but is to secure the bond. Coz.. if lets say, the maid missing or preggie, employer is liable to pay $5000 to MOM.
Agency fees:
so far, i hear $388 is standard. believe there are cheaper ones. Its service fees rendered.

Airtkt:
Yes... she can choose to keep the cash, then no home leave for her liao loh.

I am also very new to hiring maid... someone may correct me if i am wrong.
 
kaolarie/tiffany - if maid is hired under HB's name, he can claim maid levy or not huh? Or is it only women then can claim levy to encourage women to return to work force? SOmehow I have that impression leh.

last time i breast feed kor kor till 9 months. then, get pregnant. din travel for a long time until i nag HB to bring me to BKK before 2nd 1 was born. when i go there, i was 7 months preg...
 
BB monitor,
I got a second hand chicco bb monitor which I use only during the first month. I seem not to be able to sleep well because my bb monitor pick up every little noise that my bb make, and sometime other neighbour's bb as well. Later, I co-sleep with my bb and switch off the bb monitor forever.

I got the fridge to go from the BP. It is very useful...freeze the whole bag in the freezer and use it to transport ur EBM...think can last for more than 12hrs wor. it act like a mini fridge

Mel, maybe u can use this to transport from HK back to sing. Apparently, this bag is from HK leh. so maybe u can buy there, it should be cheaper

i'm using one that is "Steelcraft" brand. Rec'd it as a gift but i think you can get it at robinsons. it's pretty good, can be used with batteries or a/c plug. both our units are plugged in cos we only use it at night. at 1st, hb was rather iriitated with me cos i insisted on having our receiving unit on quite loud (loud enough for us to hear the fan blowing in the bb's rm!) but after a few nights and i was less kan cheong, i turned it down soft so that now i only wake up if bb fusses/cries loudly.

but poster he will laugh if is a baby, but he like winne the pooh very much. maybe being influence by me.

Tiffany, mine was after birth. OH hahaha! mine 1st one came... everyday cry and still wants to borrow $$ from me to let her go back hometown. Send her back once, then she promise heaven and earth say she will want to work for me.. so take her back coz' the replacement maid simply cannot make it!!! i want to vomit blood then. in fact, u kw i'm a very easy going person that can close 3 or 4 eyes as long as my things i ask is being done for me. but still the replacement maid i can stab myself to death by talking to her.

SO i took the 1st maid back, end up she still cry wants to go home.. HARRGGGGGGGRRRRRHHHHH!!! but in honest although she cry har... she still work very good for me. in the end i spoke to the agent, the agent find her aunty and get $$ sent her home.

This current maid face black black nobody likes her.. but then she good lah, can work and very good with bb. so i just dont care what pple say. i need a maid to work and not for beauty show wor. ha ha!

Tiffany, if u want i can ask my maid to teach yr maid eng. i belive she is okay with that.

Koalarie, my agent fee is only 120 if i still can remember. but then mine is recommended by my pt cleaner so i dont kw is it i got "special" deal hee coz' my pt cleaner and her are good frds.

i paid also the insurance and "run away" insurance. not sure abt the air ticket, i remember was half half... like must open an account with the maid and both parties must put $$ inside. for my phil salary is only $300 with only sunday off.

Maid can take care of bb, BUT BUT must have someone to watch over until you trust them.Mine so far so good *touch wood* she has not given me any prob, expect when asking question sometimes dunno she understand a not.. coz' she just look at me blank. But things got do for me in end la. haha!

Frozen milk need to be placed in fridge and thaw for at least 12 hours. After that the milk can be warmed up by soaking in warm water. We can keep frozen milk in normal freezer for 2 mth, deep freezer is 6 mth. Right now my bb girl and son is drinking frozen milk dated 26/5/06. For my bb girl, out of 8 feed, 1 to 2 feed is frozen milk. Must mix or else next time she doesn't take frozen milk. Currently, I have ard 20 000ml of frozen milk. 3 big bags stored in my friend's freezer, hehe, so paisay...her hubby said they could not buy ice cream becoz of my milk la, Oops... ...

If you tink your maid is good, remember to reward her. it's like motivation. My maid is under old contract w no day off. But I still give her once every 2 mth, to take a breather. Hari raya 1 mth bonus. Give her yearly increment.

Any of u know of this product? My fren has it. her house is 2000+Sq feet but with only 1 maid and 2 kids. So I wonder how her maid cope. She said she has iRobot so house is quite clean. I'm tempted to buy. Take a look, it's interesting. The red Roomba is on promotion, $300+. But it's older version, manual charge.

I applied for maid to arrive 2-3 wks b4 my EDD. who knows... L cant wait to see the world. Was born 1mth early. everyone was caught unprepared. I was still working on the day i delivered. Was quite stressed when the maid came in and L was only 1wk old. had to take care of him and train the maid(indo). Initially, had communication prob, but was soon overcome. She was good in housework,i liked her but too bad, she has very bad BO!! Stint my whole house. My hb cannot tahan, hence, we decided to get her replaced after 1.5mths.

Replacement also indo, WORST. cant understand me and also have attitude prob. Lied to me tat she alrdy sterilise when she didnt. Got so mad! Almost gone into post natal depression. got her replaced after 2.5wks. no maid for 2 wks, i felt so happy and relieved. everytime they will "YES, MDM. I UNDERSTAND", but do wrongly. Finally, decided on Phil. Just came in on sat. aiyoh... english also half past 6!.. also Yes Mdm, then do wrongly. this one, 3rd day alrdy asked me she wants to apply SIM card... Alamak!!! Homesick, wana call home, blah blah blah....anyway...so far, i nvr let any maids handle L. Hopefully this one will be gd, then i can bring L out, then maid help take care while i drive. sigh.... wonder when will be the day... sorry ar.. getting too loh sou liao

I want that also!!!! Ask your friend for me leh, Is the thing noisy a not? Can program to run through your house how many time per day? I got 2 cats and they are shedding a lot of fur because I hardly give them any attention. Feel so guilty.

Wow, if that irobot can sterilze and mop my floor for me also, that will be perfect.
 
Tiffany, i face the same prob when i had the 2nd one.... everything yes yes yes.. worst throw away my milk powder... can cry lei! dont worry, my maid tells me that you talk to her slowly and she will understand. and she is willing to teach her those household matters. U let me know if you need help, i'm alright with it.

Maraquan, sorry the other i read an article they say cats contains a lot of virus esp their furs which is very harmful for babies. prob, u would need to seperate them from your bb.

Thanks. really appreciate your kindness. u are so lucky to get your current maid, sounds independent and problem free. for half past 6 standard, i still have to pay her $320 p.m and $340 fm 7th mth onwards (no off day).

She missed her 3yr old daughter so much tat i get worried. afraid tat she take my L runway. really scare of these maids.
 
har!!! hey, yr maid sounds like my 1st maid, missing her daughter and worst yr maid very x lei! no wonder so many pple keep asking me why i employ phil maid.

mine is only S$300.00 and only one year later i would need to increase her salary to $320.00

My advice, she may not take L and run... BUT! never never let her call home. that's the mistake i make end up i cant control her emotion.

I let her call once, coz she looked moody and emotional unstable. i told her i will pay for her this time, but in future, she has to pay herself. suggested to her to buy ICC card, she wants SIM card instead wor... she brought her own mobilephone. no $$ on hand, want this want tat. Spoken to my agent, she also asked me not to give her SIM card.

thks for asking. Reanne shld b fine. PD said cld b due to 3 possibilities. 1) inner side of annus a bit tear/abrasions due to frequent pooing. 2) infection. 3) blockage of intestines. Did a culture test so now waiting for the result.

Tiffany! DONT GIVE HER SIM CARD or ICC card.. WARNING!!! no no no no... i learn my lesson very hard so i know is not going to work. These gals are so smart, not only they call home, they call the whole kampong! hiaz. so no phone call esp back to her country. If she really need to, call the agent ask the agent talk to her.

My maid has one day off per mth. But, she dont take one.. she rather stays at my place or follows me to my in law hse and just rot there.

How do you tell them not to have SIM card? Why must we apply for them? Can't them apply by themselves??

I am thankful that my maid:
1. Eng not bad...can understand 90%.
2. Smiling smiling one
3. Loves J alot - maybe she misses her daughter.
4. Good at handling J &amp; does hsework also acceptable. Quite hygenic when it comes to J's stuff.

Tiffany - dun let your maid gather too often with other maids...they will share "tips" one....anyway this is what i heard from those seasoned employers. I am also hiring maid for 1st time so still dun understand how their world function.
 
Koalarie, they can buy themself but u can dont allow them not to call. My agent told me dont let her call esp back to home. so i explain to her and she understand.

Ya, i agree with Mel, dont let them gather with other maids coz' those that are season will teach them what to do. And the gathering make sure you are there..

But my maid very serious one, she dont talk to pple.. so i doubt she will teach anything bad. i'm very happy with her, ytd i'm trying put up the posters for my son to see. me hand like feet and feet and hand, so cant seems to fix it. morn i woke up she do for me alr and my son's clothes all stand by outside waiting to dress him up.

haaha.. Tiffany, i suggest u give her time table in this case since she dont have time management. Ya maids very smart one.. my previous one also tell me not to tell agent, coz' my agent SUPER FIERCE to them.

aiya, food no prob one.. my hb always complain the way i cook like for the whole kampong to eat. and make him fat fat. anyway, my maid eat like mouse like that. she prob thks we eat like pig haha!
