Tabbie n Denmy

Me n hb went to take a look at the little gym at Forum previously. They were conducting classes for the older kids and it looks fun. Was keen to enroll Mel but thot maybe check out gymboree first but lazy us have still yet to do it. How's baby yoga/kindermusik like? Have any mommy tried baby sign languague?

Babylon,

Hope Damien is better now. Dun blame yourself cos u didn't expect/want that to happen too.

Queen
No problem. Thanks for organising.

Denmy
Just to check, how different is the taste btw butternut squash and pumpkin?

Hello mummies!

babylon,
Don't blame yourself! Did you actually just let Damien eat the durian or jus a few licks? Anyway, I understand how tempted we can be to let BBs try adult food cos BBs always show great interst in the things we eat... I'm sure Damien will recover soon!

Re. butternut squash
I bought one from Cold Storage last saturday and made butternut squah + pear puree. Sweet and nice, even I like to eat it, finished the remnants in the blender. heehee...

may
i bought safety 1st booster seat so that i could bring it along when i bring my gal back to m'sia.

queen
very tempted to join the spree, but think got to control myself to save $ to buy books for my gal.
happy.gif

Queen,

no worries... if not enough then no need to organise second spree.. i didn't really intend to buy but after surfing cannot resist the baby girl clothings! Not in a rush to buy...

Denmy,

I saw at the orchard towers one.. but my girlfriend says that can get in the bigger cold storage also..

I haven't tried swede or butternut squash yet... my baby has taken only peas, apples, pears, sweet potato and barley so far... this week going to start on carrots.

I have been buying a lot of stuff from brown rice paradise cos now I am a member so can get the healthy times/ earthbest cereal/ jarred food at 10% discount. But i dunno if their vege are that fresh becos the range is so small so haven't bought any from them to try yet.

Mummies,
How to get your baby to drink water? My girl's stools are quite firm, like adults... but worried that she is not drinking enough.. how to feed her water?

Spoilt brats

Sigh. I was at Great World City during the weekend and got this spoilt brat came with a wooden hanger and wanted to hit my boy. Luckily my hb pulled him away. His mother apologized only when I stared at him. Then when I saw him coming near again, I warned my hb to push the stroller away from the 'brat'. Think the mother heard me and quickly pulled her son away.

Hi Queen

i wont be joining in the spree liao cos i cant reali find anytin tat i like except for a romper...so i guess i will leave it to other mummies to enjoy the spree... thanks anyway...!

tabbi
i try to let my gal drink from bottle. if she starts playing with the teat and only manage to drink a bit from the bottle, i will use spoon to feed her.
happy.gif

mashy
aiyo.. so dangerous... luckily you were with your boy and not left him alone in the stroller...

Hi Mashy brainz,

Wow. How old was that boy? So terrible. Wooden hanger somemore.... The mum should have hang on to him in the first place.

Hi mommies,

Was on the way home in the car when my elder gal, ashley, said "i love you". I told her that's very sweet of her and i said i love her too. Her reply? "I love you more"..... When i asked her what she did to show that she love me more, she couldn;t reply so i gave her examples like i made milk for her, i buy her things, i read her books etc. Then came her reply "i eat and eat and eat" to show that i love you more.... ??

Hi Rena,

SOmetimes it's difficult to discipline other people's children right? But if the things that they did post a danger, then discipline is a must.

My gal tried opening a moving car door once and my sister smacked her hand real hard. I was heart pain cos even i myself never hit my gal so hard but it's for the good of my child. Now she keep her hands off car doors.

tabbiesus,
where is Brown Rice Paradise? Thinking of getting organic oatmeal/barley cereals but can't find any in supermarkets...

Re. stools
My boy poos once or twice a day, sometimes once every 2 days. Stools are not hard, but very foul smelling, thick and pasty. Yellowish. Each time it's A LOT of poo! He seldom drink water as well, though I try tries to give him a few spoonsful after every cereal feed. Also will give him some Heinz fruit juice. He loves the apple & blackcurrant one.

tabbiesus,

have you tried adding a bit gripe water to it?

for me, its been habit , we have her drink water everyday coz its so hot in hanoi..38degrees! can she drinks up to 100 or even 150 ml a day!

just slowly everyday give her some thru out the day. then use the handle and she can hold it and play and put into her mouth herself to drink also.

hope it helps

Yuki,
Ashley is so sweet!
happy.gif

Dunno whether little boys will be as sweet?
Actually, I can't recall ever saying 'I love you' to my mom... dunno whether I said it when I was very young....

Tabb;

rory hates drinking plain water too, he makes a face and pushes the teat out when i try to feed him.

i add a little bit of unsweetened baby's apple juice to his water (4 fl oz water, slightly less than 1/2 fl oz apple juice) and he now drinks this all up throughout the day.

Both Heinz and Gerber sells apple juice, i find the gerber one sweeter than heinz. i know we should not encourage 'flavouring', but i reckon its better than bb being constipated.i tasted his water, has only a hint of apple taste in it. his poo is nice and soft now.

Yuki

Think the boy was abt 3-4yrs old.

Tabby
My boy hates water too. But at the advice of the mummies here, i added gripe water, 2 teaspoon to 60ml water and now he drinks it all up! So happy! Now he can poo normally.
happy.gif

Hi Queen,

Little boys can be as sweet too.
happy.gif
Keep saying i love you to him.
happy.gif

I learn to appreciate my parents more after becoming parents myself.

I can;t bring myself to say 'i love you' to my parents cos we are not brought up that way. But i want to show my appreciation so i say 'i love you' in Mother's day and Father's day card....Ha Ha.

I said i love you to my gal everyday thou. especially now with the little sister, need to assure her more. She sometimes compare our attention to her and her mei mei, Megan.... She asked questions like why baby can cry, why baby must always carry etc... I answered that cos baby is small, don;t know anything. She replied "Then i become small, i can also cry,:....... She sometimes want me to carry and rock her like a baby. Ha Ha.

Hi Mashy brainz,

Yes. I think so. I take it as she show appreciation by eating what i prepare?
happy.gif

Actually i thank God that she loves food and i enjoy watching her eat cos it looks like the food is nice.
happy.gif

hi mommies

thanx for ur advice... i've tried giving her apple juice but she don't want either.. i give her the organic version from earth best which is rather sweet and still she don't like... hmmm i've tried putting in her mag mag cup and she will just play with the cup and teat... so notti ah...only if spoon feed she will be ok with it but sometimes will still throw tantrum... sigh.. funny otherwise she is fine with eating food.. only water she is really nottie with.. u know when u feed her from teat she will pretend to drink and then u see all the water dripping from her chin to her bib cos she spits it out! dunno whether to laugh or cry...hiazz

Queen
brown rice paradise is at level 3 tanglin mall. They have the oatmeal and barley cereal. i just bought the barley cereal from them

Mashy

Aiyor... how can some parents be so inconsiderate? Or is it that older kids are so hard to control.. I think avoidance by being vigilant when unattended older kids are around our babies is best otherwise, if any other kid wants to whack my girl.. I will surely SMACK them!
angry.gif
.. tell u a funny story... my neice was forced to lift small weights when young so that if a boy pushed her in school she will be strong enough to push them back and not be bullied!! I dunno if i want to "train" my girl that way but i surely don't want her to be bullied!!!

Tabby

Haha, so funny lift wts! Be careful though, coz can cause injury and even affect growth. Do u realise that boys who lift alot of weights in their teenages yrs tend to be short?

Yah, have to be careful coz they're always plenty of these kind of children running ard.

tabby,

i used woodwards.

POKEMON

hi mummies,

anyone know where i can get custom made pokemon t-shirts? want to get for my brother in law.

thanks

tabbiesus,
haha yes i know what u mean about your gal pretending to drink water from the teat! My gal does the same too. i just try to feed her water throughout the day, so she's now better with drinking water. Last time she would cry when i feed her water. Now at least she occasionally drinks a bit. Try giving warm water? My gal prefers warm water to normal temp water.

Hi Esther

That link on Baby Even really made me cried non stop. I didn't even dare to look at the photos yesterday nite. For those who can't really read the chinese character...it's just as well. It's heart wrenching to read the mother's pain. I felt exceptionally bad coz just before I saw your link, I was getting pissed with my baby for crying & crying non-stop (coz we didn't managed to eat dinner even at 10.30pm as he kept crying. Don't want to sleep, don't want to lie down there & play on his own either. Have to constantly carry him). So I was actually getting angry with my baby as I was hungry & tired & yet I don't know what's wrong with him.

After reading the link, felt very guilty for being angry with my baby. I should be grateful that he is healthy & able to wail so loudly rite? & that he wants mummy to carry him...Sounds warp but I guess it's the little things in life that we forget to appreciate & be thankful about that we get so upset and stressed out in life.

Didn't finish reading the whole thing. But there's one part where the mother said that she heard from a lot of pple who left her messages that Baby Even story has taught them to cherish their own children more. The mother mentioned that maybe this is the "purpose" of sending Baby Even to her....

Tabbie,

My MIL tries to trick my baby to drink by using a spoon to feed. He will play with the teats if they give water using a bottle but he takes from the spoon. If he is in the mood, they can get him to take 7 to 8 teaspoons. Even if he is not, it takes like 2 to 3 teaspoon before he realise no taste one ;p

Ha...your girl so smart...know how to pretend to drink & let the water drip out down her chin!

hi mummies,

So many postings! I just came back from Malacca last night. Charmaine's a really good gal - she slept all the way to Malacca and from Malacca back to Sg. : )

Queen,

So sorry - can't get back to you in time but my orders are correct! thks for organising the spree.

tabbie,

You can try feeding your gal water. Charmaine doesn't like to drink water initially but now she drinks water esp if the weather's hot.

babylon,

glad that damien's okay already. I think it's a good reminder for us. I like to feed Charmaine some things from the adult tabble as well cos I like to let her try. So far, I have fed her carrots, pumpkins, apples, strawberries, yam and even lychees. Can any mummies advised if any of these is a no-no for babies?

SSf,

enjoy your trip to Japan! where are you going in Japan?

hi SH,

i am glad that Baby Even helped you open up in this way. I am also sure as much as you were pissed, you still loved your baby alot. It's just that moment in time.

ya , i totally agree with you. we are always caught up in the everyday life that we never stop to appreciate the things around us.

i remember i was complaining to my friend how my husband grinds his teeth so badly every night that i couldnt sleep. then she turned around and asked me. " would you rather hhear him grind his teeth or have him not come home to sleep next to you ?"

well..so i learnt to embrace his habits now
happy.gif

SL,
wow Charmaine's really good to have slept the whole journey to and from Malacca!
happy.gif

From the brochure that my PD gave me, strawberries are very likely to cause allergic reaction, so i'm refraining from giving that. My god-daughter was allergic to strawberries (would break out in rash) even till she was 2 years old.

esther,
When you talk about appreciating ur hubby despite his habits, it reminds me that i should appreciate having my hb around despite his smelly farts - esp in the middle of the nite!!

Hi durianlover,

Thks! I must really thank god for answering our prayers. We prayed for journey mercy and for Charmaine's good behaviour on the trip. : ) I really, really dread having to pacify a crying baby on the trip. It also leaves me more confidence for the trip to Oz.

Tabbie,

Charmaine also plays with the teats initially. Have more patience. Your bb will eventually drink the water. Just keep offering it to her.

esther...

i agree... better a stinky noisy hubby in bed then no hubby at all...
happy.gif

SL
strawberries and any form of berries are supposed to be more allergenic...

Queen
There's a number of organic shops around. There is one at United Sq, one opp Novena Church and one at Forum Galleria.

Yuki

Ashley is so sweet
happy.gif
I kiss Mel all the time too and most of the time I ask her to kiss me back and she'll do it altho is more licking my face...haha.

Re: Different opinion with parents/ILs on bringing up children

Despite all the differences, we really got to thank God that we have someone to rely on. At least we are assured that our child is being look after with love.

My friend have two children. The elder one is in childcare and the younger one with a nanny. The younger one is not old enough to attend a CC. Everyday is a mad rush to send the younger one to the nanny, then the older one to CC, then to work and it's also the same after work. Reach home about 7 plus, had to prepare dinner or feed the older one etc......... When the older one falls sick, she has to take leave cos there's no one to look after her children. She doesn't employ maid cos there's no one to supervise the maid and she is not comofrtable with leaving her children alone with maid.

Compare myself to her, i find myslef much lucky. I have my mum to look after my children. Everyday after work, i am able to enjoy my dinner cos my children are already fed etc.....

So mummies, treasure your parents/ILs for looking after your children

Hi Florence,

Ha Ha. I have yet to teach megan to kiss me! She likes to knock head to head thou.
happy.gif

hi flo

i was there yest too... hmmm... wonder if i bumped into u? anyways... I thot it was expensive too... i go there to mainly get cereal or jarred food to use when travelling or eating out.. esp for fruits or vege that don't keep well..

Re: kisses
I give my girl an eskimo kiss by rubbing her nose wit my nose, she can't kiss me yet but likes me to kiss her hand... when BFg her, she will put her hand to my mouth for me to kiss... so sweet right... how to stop bf like dat?

Yuki

your fren is a superwoman!

yuki,
Ur gal Ashley is really sweet. I remember when we were all still preggie u would tell us about her and we were all like "awww...so sweet". She still is!
Your fren who handles her 2 kids sounds very much like my fren too...haha wonder if it's the same fren we have?!

Hi all
A few days never login and lotsa to catch up.

Yuki
You are rite.. have to appreciate my PIL more for taking care of my bb.
Many times I remind myself to count my blessing that my PIL are helping..
but sometimes really can't help it.

Re: Kaelyn has rashes after PIL apply VICKs
Anyway.. I guess none of mummy here apply vicks to your bb.. if u do.. then pls use it sparingly or dun even use it.
Kaelyn after the fever has a little runny and block nose..
I bought a chest rub meant for kidz for her to use and apply very thinly on her.
2 days later PIL at home, probably din find the chest rub for kaelyn effective. went to bought VICKS.. and apply alot on her.. cos when I come home I find the Vick container has a big den.
They claim kaelyn has improved and can sleep.
I applied the VICK on myself and find it burning even though just a thin layer.
So I told them not to apply much cos bb skin is delicate. they Deny abt apply much and deny abt it's burning say Kaelyn's skin never turn red.
The next day... I found rashes on Kaelyn's chest and neck (yes they apply onto the neck too) and back.
Thank God the rashes went away the day after next and does not bother her much.
How not to be fedup?!...
When I call my MIL in the morning on the day they apply the vick to check if Kaelyn is fine with her runny/block nose.. MIL told me, she TOTALLY fine!
When I return home, MIL started telling me how serious was kaelyn in the morning with runny /block nose thats why they bought the VICKS.
I dunno what to say.

Re: slight block nose
BTW.. kaelyn's block nose come on and off.. Off most of the time.
we hear funny noise when she sleep at nite.. just a few times.
it's been a week.. I'm not sure do I need to bring her to PD or just leave it for her to recover.
SO far.. Thankfully the slightly block nose is not disturbing her sleep... just make funny noise thats all.

hi mummies
haven log in for some time.

last week JH fell off the bed..so poor thing. got a bump on his head. luckily my bed is platform bed so he din fall from a great height.

cookie
last time my hb wanted to apply vicks on JH and i refused. sometimes my boy sounds like he got blocked nose or phlegm but when i tell PD and he check he says he's ok. so maybe it's the aircon...

tabby
my son does the same thing during bf. his hand will keep wanting to touch my face...ha but i always end up getting scratched by him...

re babies going on hol
mummies,
i intend to bring JH for hol in sept but my parents are so agst it. is there any cons in bb travelling at such a young age??

Hi Durain Lover,

Thanks. She has her naughty moments and cute moments too. But reading so much about those babies who fell sick, pass away etc... i just thank God that she's alive and well to be naughty.

Hi Cookie,

Ya. We are humans and we are mothers. Of course will be very gan cheong about our child.
happy.gif

I read somewhere not to apply VICKS on babies???? Thin layer should be ok but not too much........

cookie
I personally use vicks on Daren when he had the flu and had blocked nose and all. But we'll rub the vicks on our fingers 1st then proceed to apply rather than scooping some form the container and directly rub-it-out to thin it over his chest and back and neck. So far he has no rashes.

Hi mummmies,
am back from the cruise, and find so many posts.. wow... was busy reading up form yesterday...

Shannon was a very good gal on the cruise, we worried that she may not be able to sleep in a strange environment, but she knocked out every night at 8pm.... funny thing is that she couldn't sleep when we came home!
happy.gif

The cruise was fun though tiring... managed to bring her to the tiny bb pool on the ship and she is getting better in the water now... some pics to share...
