(2006/01) Jan 2006 MTBs

Hi SY,

It's those warming up exercise we normally do before running etc. Stretching hands to your back, stretch out hands to the side and rotate, straighten your hand in front of you and clutch you fist etc. And the Cat Stretch that Mongs mention. It really relieve my back. I do notice a difference between the days where i did this exercise in the morning and the days whereby i didn't.

I also didn't know i can be so calm. But i felt assured that hubby was with me all the time so didn't panic.

With epidural, i don't feel any pain at all. 0% of pain...... ;p But i can't feel when to push. Need the nurse to guide me
happy.gif

Your message to sysa - you will be even more weepy after giving birth. Ha Ha. Me too weep like nobody's business even when i watch the not so 'chiam' shows but to me like the actress etc super poor thing etc.......
happy.gif

wenyl,
i went to Bali for my honeymoon but stayed in Bali Hilton in Nusa Dua. Hard Rock is a famous hotel so i believe should be quite good! Personally i think staying in a hotel in Ubud would be lovely too...with quiet scenery of beautiful rice fields...hee
happy.gif

curly,
same thing for my bb! everytime she kicks and i ask my hubby to put his hand on my tummy, then she'll stop kicking. so naughty!

sysa & SY,
yes i think perhaps it may be the hormones acting up. Tend to be more emotional.

Any of you get irritated when people comment that pregnant women are forgetful? i kind of forgot something at work n my colleagues brushed it off as "pregnant woman, so can forgive". Hmm couldn't help but feel irritated coz i dun think i was more forgetful than before pregnancy!

Tell u all, today on the bus journey to work i was feeling quite unhappy with everyone. Because the bus was super crowded with a lot of pple standing, and no one bothered to offer his/her seat to me. Actually don't offer seat to me nevermind...the worse thing was that there were 2 other old pple standing (1 with all-white hair) and no one gave up their seats to them too! Couldn't help but feel unhappy with all those sitting down coz all of them were young pple and there're others in greater need of seats than them.

Yuki,
think i am inspired to be more dilligent in my stretching. will do it when i wake up in the morning. but i tot in order to do stretching, we need to warm up first?

that's what i heard abt epidural also. may find it hard to feel the need to push.

durianlover,
i think ubud is nice too! i haven been to bali but wanted to go someday and tot those resorts in ubud always look so nice. maybe that will be my after birth trip to reward myself.

i do find myself getting forgetful so i m ok. then sometimes when i forget something, i will just tell pple, pregnant women more forgetful. it is really true in my case.....

i know what u mean abt the MRT thing. yesterday, no one offered their seat to me too and an old woman in her 50s actually offered. of cos i din take it cos she's also old and she was carrying more stuff than me. pple beside her all young and not carrying anything!

Hi durian lover,

I had that kind experience on a bus too. Thou i didn't really 'hunger' for a seat but i can't understand what are all these people thinking! I purposely stand infront of a young man, thrust my tummy upfront to his face and i look at him. He didn't even pretend to sleep or read but just stare ahead! Unbelivable right?

Hee hee, but my friend commented that what if he stand up and gave up his seat for me only for me to realise that he is limp......... So i try not to be too judgmental lor...... Anyway my friend did make me laugh when she said that. But it may be true......... By then, the one to be embrassed will be me. ;p

hi yuki n SY,
yes i know what u both mean...i also try to reason with myself that perhaps they're also in need of a seat. But a whole busload of relatively young pple all in need of a seat? Hmm...am a bit doubtful abt that...just think that nowadays pple dun really give up their seats to the needy. There was once a blind man came on the bus and almost sat on another man coz he thought the seat was empty!! And the man sitting down also did not offer his seat to him. Hmmm...

SY,
yah perhaps u can go Bali for holiday! nice place
happy.gif
But if u go on after-birth trip, will u bring ur bb along? Hee, coz i heard from mums who go on after-birth trips that they feel guilty travelling w/o their bbs, and their mind will always be on the bb. So must really be able to just let go in order to enjoy!
happy.gif

Durianlover,
like yuki, i give those who are sitting down the benefit of the doubt. maybe they REALLY have reasons unknown to me??
happy.gif

of cos will be without bb but will really be a short short trip cos i dun think i can bear to leave bb for too long!

durianlover

i also get comments on hw forgetful i hav become, cos i wasn't like this last time... n it reali irritates me cos like ou, im sure its isn't BAD... even if i do, its those occassional things or once a year events tat i forget.. BIG DEAL rite??? so i dun care aldy, juz brush them aside...

actuali bout the giving up of seats... for young women not to give up seat, i try to tell myself mayb shes in early preggie stage, so she needs it more than me (bb unstable mah), but i cant stand young men not offering!!! so un-gentleman... hopefully my bb celeste doesn't get anyone like tis in future
happy.gif

Pochacco,

I took it..totaly no side effect.
My mum told those who have side effect is becoz they did not rest well during the confinment.

SSF, I will be seeing my gynae a few days before I depart and he will write a letter for that.

Yuki, think my bb might be a big one..... every time we went to see the gynae, he always commented that bb is big/fat! I really hope to have a normal delivery...

durianlover, hahha... hubby always says bb does it on purpose.

So far, I have been quite lucky on the train. I would say about 80% of the time, I have pple offering their seats to me.

god's child,
i think the same thing too! when i look at young women who dun give up seats, i also tell myself maybe they early stage.

my fren got one that happened to her that was a bit amusing. she also preggie but that time she like in 5/6 months so not very big yet. she was sitting beside a young man then this pregnant lady came into the train and she was very big! becos my fren not very obvious, she was like expecting either my fren or the young man to give up the seat for her so she kept looking at them. so my fren was thinking whether to give up or not but she also carrying things so she din really want to give up. then luckily after a few stops, someone got off train and the pregnant lady got a seat. she said she was really debating inside her whehter to stand up and give up her seat.

curly,
is your tummy very obvious? i think the giving up of seats not really related to tummy right? i think when my tummy smaller, somehow more pple gave up seats!

Hi Pochacco,

I do have backache after giving birth but like what Babylon said, it' smainly due to my own fault. All the bending we have to do during my confinement....... bend to carry baby, bend to change their diapers (on bed level) etc.......... that resulted in backache. So i don't think it's the epidural.

But i do have fever while in the process of giving birth and another of my friend to. some said it's sue to the epidural...??? And i vomitted after i gave birth which i think is also quite normal. Other experienced mum have similar experiences?

hi god's child n SY,
hey same here! when i see young women who dun give up their seats, i also think it's coz they're preggie in 1st trimester or something! haha i think only when we're pregnant will we think that way
happy.gif

i just feel sad for those elderly folk n heavily pregnant ladies who hv to stand n try to balance simply coz pple ignore them...i ever came across this pregnant lady who had no seat n kept rubbing her big tummy - was highly amused coz it seemed like she was signalling to others that she needed a seat but no one gave up!

Yuki & Pochacco,
3 of my frenz who had epidural had no side effects at all...so not sure if it depends on individual?

I guess nowadays with more women getting pregnant, people are less willing to give up seats. and somehow there are some who will "assess" the situation and "decide" if you need the seat. I ever encountered this young man who enthusiatiscally gave up seat to an old man but not to me. I think he thinks that I can "manage". actually it's true coz now honeymoon period. But hopefully when my tummy is bigger and I get tired more easily, the seats giving action will come naturally.

My sis in law has swollen eyes when she had epidural, my sis room mate in Mt A vomitted a few times after her delivery. One of my friends had no side effects. think it's all very individual.
I still not sure if I want epidural. My colleague advised me to go without epidural for my first birth if I ever want to experience real labour pain. her sis decided to go without epidural for her second birth and boy, did she regret. Totally unimaginable!

mongs,
really? my fren's advice is opposite. They say shd take epidural for 1st pregnancy coz 1st one usually may take quite long, so v painful. Whereas 2nd pregancy delivery is usually faster than 1st, so can try w/o epidural. My frens say their 2nd delivery very fast pop out already! So pain also for a little while only
happy.gif

yuki
We still gotta be thankful that bb came out safe and sound and healthy!!! That's most important, I feel.
I found the book to be really informative and good cos it brot us back to the right attitude towards what God intended pregnancy to be.
I also applied the principle of commanding my boy to turn when it is time.... hehe... and he did! But the contractions, ah, that I could not tahan... but it was after the 9th hour that I cannot tahan leh.....

SY
My waterbag was burst by gynae leh... bb was naturally delivered but induced. (Gynae used foreceps)....
After experiencing the contractions a bit, I dun think I'm so brave, will surely opt for epi this time round...hehe....
Ignore what u see at the shows.... if u think u really can't tahan the pain, then opt for epi... u are no less wei da just becos of that ok.... hehe....

I usually get a seat in the mornings .. but I notice those who give me their seats are the middle-aged women... all the young men and women all sleeping (or pretending to sleep.......)

Curly/SSF
Yes, should obtain a letter from gynae if intending to travel, cos at the gate, they may ask you.

Pochacco
The 'strip'u posted is so cute...

I was warned of shivering (which I experienced imdtly after I got the epi shot), and vomitting or I think, fever, but I had none of the latter two after-effects, thank God.
In fact I was v alert after my delivery.... chatting with my friends. Also no backache. Nothing at all....
But I had v painful contractions pain at my tummy area, gynae can only attribute it to my uterus shrinking back super fast...I was in pain for two weeks, could hardly walk but tummy shrunk back to normal v quickly. After 4 months, I was slimmer than before!

durianlover
We left our bb for two nites and drove to KL... needed a break and a time to sleep! Haha..... came back and found bb looking different...hehe!!!! But he behaved himself while we were away....

mongs
I cannot stand for long on the train, so v glad when someone offers me a seat each time.
I think no need to be hero if cannot take it lah! Haha...

Hi all,

I think it all depends on individual. Just met a friend who just gave birth without epidural - first pregnancy.

When her waterbag burst and when she went to the hospital, dilated only 1 cm and the doc advise that it may take another 10 hours before baby comes. However after two hours, she started to experience strong contractions and she tried to endure the pain. Two hours later, she decided she won't be able to wait for another 8 hours to be fully dilated and asked for epidural. But when the nurse checked, she has already diliated 10cm and is ready for child birth! So end up she deliver her first child without epidural and without the long labour process.
happy.gif
Blessed her!

durianlover,
hmm..actually what ur friend said maybe correct as well. dun know lei. I not decided.

One of my classmates in my antennal class shared that by squatting can strength the cervical canal and may have easier delivery. but must do control squats, don't squat down or up too fast, later faint. :p

Hi StyloBB,

Yes. Indeed praise God that our baby is safe and healthy!
happy.gif

Lucky you not to experience those effects. I shivered as well but i thot that was because i was having fever and being in the aircon room, so shiver alot. I kept asking the nurse for extra blankets.
happy.gif

My friends commented that i look great as compared to a friend who gave birth via C-section a month ealier than me. I guess we really recover faster as compared to those who underwent C-Section. I was happily walking about, talking to my friends on the second day
happy.gif

Plus the hospital provided a candlelight diiner for both hubby and myself on the night before i was discharge. That was the most enjoyable dinner we had in the months to come
happy.gif

I can imagine how heavy it is to carry twins. There was this lady who carry twins in my antenatal class and thou she's about the same time as some of us but her tummy was so much bigger....

Hi SSF,

NUH. But my friend who stayed there a couple of months after me doesn't have candlelight dinner thou we both staye in one beded room.

The setup for candlelight dinner was very nicely done. When the person came to ask what we wanted to eat for our candlelight diiner, both hubby and i were septical about. But when the table arrive, we were pleasantly surprised It came with those nice table cloth, with candles and flowers! It is a complete course of soup, main course, fruits and tea/coffee etc....... Ha Ha.

Yuki
i think it's very interesting that the hospital provided a candlelight dinner!

Pochacco,
where u get the strip from? very cute!

Mongs, durianlover,
my fren told me if i want to experience childbirth, just try for a while without epidural then ask for it. sometimes if u ask for it too late, even if u wan, u also cannot have it.

styloBB,
think your tummy must be very heavy and big cos of carrying twins. if u dun seat, u will sure have a hard time and the pressure on your legs will not be good for bb as well. so thank God you get to seat most of the time.
i also notice tendency is for middle age women to give up seats. those young ones is once in a while. yesterday i saw a teacher who was sitting down marking her books. was just wondering if teacher also dun give up seats, then how will the young ones be educated to give up seats to those who need them?

sounds like everyone reacts to epidural differently! must really pray for smooth and easy delivery!

okie. going to go get some tea break. bb kicking to signal he's hungry...

Hi all...
Its comforting to hear about your experiences with epidural coz somehow parents/in laws, relatives etc will tell u stories about side effects of epidurals n I'll feel bad about thinking it as an option... but my firend who had her 1st without epi. and 2nd with epi. tells me dun be silly not to opt for it to save such money coz her 2nd delivery was definitely much more relaxing n she was able to witness the whole birth clearly... unlike the 1st one she was so much in pain just can't wait for the BB to be out...

IVORY,
pls update mine is a GAL & will be delivering at Mt A. THANKS!!!

SY, no leh, everyone said my tummy very small. even when I was around 3 mths already people offered their seats. dont think it got to do with the tummy size lah. just happened to meet some kind souls.

Yah stylobb, gynae had asked me to see him before I leave.

Hi gals,
Thanks for sharing your Bali feedbacks. *Sigh! I tink I may not be able to go Bali liao. The weekend that I wanted to go, both SQ & Garuda are fully booked. And last nite, hubby say he got to go back ofc during that weekend to do shifting.
kao_cry.gif

Guess not fated to travel cos the agency told me airlines will not allow preggies to travel after 7 mth. *Sigh!

Hi Gals,
now everyone is talking about labour pains, guess all of us will go through it in about 3 months... scary thot...!

Anyone started buying things for baby and house yet? I bought a playpen/cot but still have so many other stuff to get... does anyone have a checklist for things we need to get? Hubby now starting to get kan chiong, and say this weekend we better start stocking up!

SSF,
don't worry, will pray for you that everything will be fine!

hey guys..lately my baby has been kicking me harder than before. i can see my tummy moving up and down when i am lying flat watching tv. anyone experience the kick more powerful as well?

i hope he he having enough space :p

sleepingdeer,

there is quite a good list of things to help at http://www.baybsupplies.net/survivaltips_sitemap.htm#1 they even have a list of things to pack when u go to hos. hope u find it useful.
I went to John Little to buy the cot yesterday. Boy, a lot of people and the specialist centre store was so stuffy. almost fainted. I also bought a few other items like nipple cream and breast pump. decided not to borrow and buy used breast pumps. Read this article on used breast pumps. http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/pumps.shtml

SSF,
My baby gal's kicks are stronger as well. I think they have grown and are now stronger. sometimes she moved so much that I believe she is doing somersaults in my tummy. I kind of enjoy these movements. some mommies missed the kicks after they delivered their babies. I feel a bit insecure if she doesn't kick for a while. I will talk to her or massage a little. I will be real happy when she response.

thks sleepingdeer..

hi mongs..yes its a joy to have them moving and kicking. hehee...but at times, when i am sleeping it can be quite uncomfortable.

Wenyl,
i think bali is pretty popular. i know a colleague of mine who is still on waitlist. she's going there for honeymoon and can't get tickets!!

sleepingdeer,
i think the previous show is better than quidam. not sure whether is it cos my expectations were quite high. anyway, did your hubby enjoy it? i think mine din quite enjoy it so i tot it's a waste to bring him there. next time ask my fren to go instead! or bring my son instead of the father...
happy.gif

i started buying a bit of stuff but not a lot cos haven clear the cupboards yet. only got the cot, steriliser and some milk bottles. got some nappies and nappy liners as well. planning to get breast pump soon.

SSF,
my baby's kicks are more distinct now as well and sometimes can be quite strong. sometimes i feel breatheless even when bb kick successively for too long. he likes to move on the left in the morning and kick at the belly button in the afternoon.

mongs,
i think i will miss the feeling of baby kicking. even now, i enjoy it a lot and already feel that this is the best stage. of cos i want to see baby but can't imagine how much work there is to do after baby is born!!

Morning all...

SSF-baby's kicks reali gettin more 'powerful' haha.. well, its wat we hav been waiting for
kao_biggrin.gif
she kicks so strong tat i can see my skin go up n down. n my HB can just sit there and see her make waves and kicks in my tummy...reali very funni
bounce.gif

Re : backaches
i did some stretching exercises before sleep yest and also, i was turning different sides every now and then, & i woke up wf very minimum back ache at the spine. not like previous nights when it was bad... thought might share a little tip.. just tat when i turn now n then, i think i woke bb up, and she will kick.. hopefully when she's out, she wont wake up nw n then
kao_confused.gif

Hi Mongs,
thanks for the list! Pretty comprehensive. How was the shopping at JL? Did you manage to buy the cot in the end? Which one was it? Think hubby and me will get the Tom Craft one in the end, as he likes it alot. Oh dear, nearly fainted, be careful... sometimes it is tougher on us preggie ladies, as we need more oxygen, breathing for 2 now.
happy.gif
I also cannot stand crowds or standing too long, like once during Mass, nearly fainted coz too hot, too many people and standing for nearly an hour...

SSF,
yep, sometimes, can feel her kicks very obvious, until the whole tummy move, sometimes, she is deep in, so only I can sense it, but heng, still doesn't hurt (cross fingers)

SY,
I also preferred Satimbanco coz think on a bigger scale, but still pretty enjoyed it. My hubby is a mountain tortise, never been to any of these before, so he was impressed, especially by the solo man and woman lifting act. Haha, probably coz he used to be fit, and now he can only watch and drool at other people doing...

Think this weekend, I will start shopping for bottles, nappies, and baby clothes. Also need to organise our study room coz that's where baby will be sleeping, and start looking out for baby monitors.

Anyone buying baby monitors? Am looking at a Philips one, and also heard Chicco is not too bad..

god's child,
think i must start doing those exercises. today i almost fell down twice so i think i can expect a backache soon...
sad.gif

sleepingdeer,
i like the last act a lot!! esp when they flip all those pple..make it look so simple...amazing!

not sure whether i will get a baby monitor but i know my hubby likes such things. so i leave it to him to get it if he wants
happy.gif

Sleepingdeer,
actually I was never quite a shopper but these few months, I will go around some of the shops to compare prices for the baby stuff. quite excited esp when u find a real bargain. yesterday trip was a bit unplanned. had only wanted to get the cot but ended up buying breastpumps (got 20%), bedsheets (S$29 members) and shirt (S$25 members) for my hubby so I queue 3 times to pay for the stuff. quite stupid. the first 2 times was ok coz still early but the last queue was the longest and it was stuffy. I bought the bimbo belle that was advertised. not a nice cot name but it's made of cherrywood (a gd solid wood) and it's convertible to toddler bed. one hand operation and 4 levels of adjustment. also come with 2 side rails for the toddler bed, 4" mattress and 9pcs bedding (pillow, bolster, bumper and the covers). S$299 (for members)so quite a good deal. My hubby like the colour of the wood.
OG also has sale, the tollyjoy nappies comes with nappies liners, very cheap.

There is a lady selling philips sc361 baby monitor brand new in the forum, don't know if she sold hers already. she is selling for S$85. outside selling at S$99. dun know if JL member has 20% discount for that else it will be S$79.2. sc361 is a basic one, there is another philips sc4xx (can't remember) selling at S$149 plus, more features.
My sis in law has a chicco one. she says it's very good. can search the forum for review of baby monitors.

SY,
at OG. I bought it 2 or 3 weeks ago but yesterday I saw that the sale was still going on so I think should still have unless they sold all. wanted to go and buy another package but really can't walk another inch and very hungry. I think it's S$19.90 of 10 pcs of nappies and comes with 2 boxes (100 pcs each box) of liners (hope I remember the price correctly). I bought 2 packs. need at least 24 pcs to start if u want to use washable nappies. It's in a package. it's good deal for money. Didn't go and read if this nappy is the best but I thought as long as it's 100% cotton should be quite the same for all brands.

I also bought the pigeon bottle wash at OG last time, it's 1 bottle plus 1 refill. can't remember how much but also cheaper than buying separately.

I hope they still have what u want.

mongs,
thanks! u still have good memory. my memory quite lousy nowadays. it's actually a very good deal. i saw the nappies at JL selling at 18.50 and 2 packs of nappy liners selling at 12 bucks (i think). the pigeon bottle wash refill cost like 10 bucks. so if it's 1 bottle plus 1 refill, then it's worth it. okie i m going to OG after work..
happy.gif

SY, maybe it's a good idea to try to find their number and call first before going. ask them if they still have this and that to avoid disappointment. I went to the orchard one next to centrepoint. I will feel quite guilty if u go and realise that they have sold out the items or are no longer on sale.

mongs,
dun worry abt it. i just work opp and my hubby working late tonight. so i always end up just going to JL/Centrepoint and walk walk without buying anything also. may just end up buying other stuff...
happy.gif

Mongs,
wow, sounds like a good deal that you got so far! Hee hee, Bimbo Belle does sound funny, perhaps they named it so, as it is super easy to operate, even a bimbo gal can use it. But $299 is very good price for cherry wood cot, do you know how much they selling without member?

I also saw the Tollyjoy nappies on sale at OG, but didn't get it, as really dunno where to start
happy.gif
I saw that comments about Pigeon is really good, but expensive, dunno about the rest.

SY,
my hubby loved the skipping rope thingy, cos it take alot of coordination, and if one guy stumbled, then that's the end of it.

Hi gals,
