Hi ladies, a friend sent me this. Pls read and decide for urself...

"<font color="0000ff"><u>ONE WOMAN'S STORY ON SOYA...</u>

All Males-PLEASE pass this info to ALL your female friends... It may save their lives!

Something to take note of. This is my true story, nothing altered.
These are facts, as they relate to my experience, my opinions based on what I have read and felt. I am relating them to warn other young health-conscious women who are unwittingly harming themselves.

In 1989, I graduated from high school in Texas and couldn't wait to hit the big college city. One of the changes I wanted to make was to eat healthier.

Once I moved to health-conscious Austin, Texas, I began to fortify my body with the best and healthiest foods I could find. Tofu was the main ingredient in every healthy dish and I bought soya milk almost every day used it for everything from cereal to smoothies or just to drink for a quick snack. I bought soya muffins, miso soup with tofu, soybeans, soybean sprouts, etc. All the literature in all the health and fitness magazines said that soya protected you against everything from heart disease to breast cancer. It was the magical isoflavones, the estrogen-like hormones that all worked to help you stay young and healthy. I looked great, I was working out all the time, but my menstrual cycle was off. At 20, I started taking birth control pills to regulate my menstrual cycle.

In addition to this I began to suffer from painful periods. I began to get puffy, it was as though I was losing my muscle tone. I began to suffer from depression and getting hot flashes. I mistook all this for PMS since my periods were irregular. By the time I was 25, my periods were so bad, I couldn't walk.

The birth control pills never made them regular or less painful so I decided to stop taking them. I went on like this for another two years until I realized my pain wasn't normal. At 27, my gynecologist found two cysts in my uterus. Both were the size of tennis balls. I went through surgery to have them removed and thank God they were benign. The gynecologist told me to go back on birth control pills. I didn't. In 1998, he discovered a lump in my breast. Again, I went through surgery and again it was benign.

In November 2000 my glands swelled up and my gums became inflamed.
Thinking I had a tooth infection i went to the dentist who told me that teeth were not the problem. After a dose of antibiotics the swelling still did not go down. At this point I could feel a tiny nodule on the right side of my neck. I told my mother I had thyroid trouble. She think I was being silly. No one in the family suffered from thyroid trouble.
Going on a hunch I saw a specialist who diagnosed me with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.

After a series of tests he told me it was cancer. My fiance and I sat stunned. We were not prepared and I was so scared. We scheduled surgery right away. The specialist told us that it would only be after the operation that a pathologist would be able to tell us for sure if it was cancer. They found a tumor at my right lobe composed of irregular cells and another smaller tumor growing on the left, so the entire thyroid was removed.

They told me that after undergoing radioactive iodine I would be safe and assured me that I could live a long life. After treatment I began to search for the cause of all these problems. I never once thought it could be all the soya I had consumed for nearly ten years. After all, soya is healthy.

I came upon a web page that linked thyroid problems to soya intake and the conspiracy of soya marketed as a health food when in fact it is only a toxic by-product of the vegetable oil industry. This was insane, afterall, the health and fitness magazines had said nothing about soya being harmful.

I visited a herbalist who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1985.
She informed me that soya was the culprit. She had a hysterectomy due to cysts and other uterine problems. A few months later another acquaintance who had consumed soya came down with thyroid cancer.

A girl in England I met through the Internet in a thyroid cancer forum had just undergone surgery and she was only 19.

What was going on????

Breast cancer is linked to estrogen. What mimics estrogen in the female body, SOYA!

But I never suspected soya because until now I never once found a single article that stated soya could be dangerous. Women who took soya prior to thyroid problems will continue to take it after if they are not aware of what soya actually does, what it contains and how it reacts in the female body. I think this is the reason that women with thyroid cancer often develop breast cancer later.

My co-worker is big into soya and I see her losing hair and gaining weight despite a walking workout during her break and after work, and apples and oranges for lunch. She just had cysts removed from her uterus too.

I warned her to stay off soya. I referred her to websites but until it is on the evening news on all four networks, women will suffer. Since the thyroidectomy. I do not touch soya, haven't for two years.

Dear readers, please use my story in any way you can. There are so many young girls who are consuming soya because they think they are taking care of themselves, and women taking soya because they want to be healthy.

It is so unfair that the information about the dangers of soya isn't more widely circulated. It is sad. There are many out there who feel this way and it is a terrible blow when you realize you are not as healthy as you thought and that the information that you depended on was wrong.</font>"

hi ladies,
didnt log in for the past few days as nathan was admitted to hospital since last saturday
sad.gif

he stayed 5 days in RH and only back on wed. was put on oxygen support thru out his stay in hospital.

The findind suggest he suffered fm bronchiolitis. Those with new born at home, if your toddle is sick do try yr very best to isolate them.

Now I need to get another blog up for work, I must not get lazy!

just a quick note, Xiang has been hospitalised into Gleneagles as his pneumonia has worsen.
It is a very bad experience for him, basically he is tramatised, scared of everything, will start crying and screaming when he saw the nurse come in. The worst one is the suction of phelgm. Most horribly to see him so terrified and his screams when they put the tube into his nose and mouth.
Still not able to discharged yet.

oh dear, so many sick babies esp XiaNG.
Hope all babies get well soon,
and for the mommies &amp; daddies: baby will get well soon k? hang on &amp; remain positive.

*hug*

ladies, thks!

yap,
take care. hope xiang get well soon. Really heart pain to hear that, do bring his favourite toys to accompany him during his stay in hospital. Agreed the suction of phelgm is the most horrible part!! Nathan went thru many times during his stay in RH, i couldnt bring myself to see them do it.

nathan is better now, but still need to take med to ensure his airway is not block. For his case, pneumococal jab is highly recommended, so must bring him for his jab when he is 6mth old.
As for me, i really didnt rest well esp during his stay in hosp. Couldnt sleep at all. I alr lose 12kgs, left 3kgs to go to pre-preg wt. But hor, still looks very fat lei. I thought i still have addl 10kgs on me when i look at myself in the mirror.
crazy.gif

hi TBL.. ok sure.. will post out to u tmr ok? thanks! oh.. and take good care of nathan.. u must be real tired.. take good rest too..

Just want to share with you all on my experience on Raffles Hosp A&amp;E dept.
When i sent nathan to the A&amp;E, they let the snr doc check on him immediately after registration. Then doc advised better to admit and they call the PD to come over to the hospital though it's nearly 12am. The PD arrived shortly after we check into the room and left at ard 2am after detail explanation to me on nathan's condition. The PD came ~4 times per day to check on nathan during his stay in hosp. She even gave me her tools (not sure whats that call, the one every doc use to examine our lung) teach me how to hear his lung's condition. Though really terrific when i 1st hear the wheezing sound fm nathan's lung but on day 4 it's really a relief when i hear the sounds are much lesser.
The nurses there are really good too. All of them keep reminding me to take care of myself, offer to feed and take care of nathan etc. I must say the whole team in RH is really good!

And must thank the PD at sengkang too. She is Natalies usual PD. When I called her emergency line on Saturday night, she guided me step by step how to check his breathing to ensure he didnt have any breathing difficulties. After an hour she call me again to check on nathan. Upon her advise, we rush Nathan to hospital. Then on the next morning when the PD couldnt contact me (I forgot to bring my handphone), she called RH and finally managed to locate me to check on nathans condition again. To me, this is really an extra effort from the PD lor. I must say its really lucky for me to meet such a good and caring PD.

Hi all, thanks for the well wishes.
Xiang had discharged from GE yesterday, review by PD in this Wed. PD said will take abt 2 weeks for full recovery.

For GE stay, does not really like the place, PD is ok.
Nurses got gloomy looks and not very approachable. They asked u to hold neutraliser for the child yourself.
Aircon quite stuffy and they can't do much after complains.
On the last day, I complained that why let Xiang put on antibiotic drip and do the phelgm suction at the same time. The nurse just don't care and said that all the kids do like that. They are so cold.
Aiyoh, forgot to write complaint letter to them. Must do so tonite.

TBL, must be very awful for you as Nathan is only 2.5wk old. Yes, had bring lots of Xiang's favourite toy till his ward like home to him.
U meant Nathan also got to do suction of phelgm, he is so small to go thru it.

To all, is suction of phelgm a must ?
For Xiang, he had phelgm in his left lung and PD said that need to do suction as he is still small and won't able to cough it out.
I helped to hold Xiang down as the nurses are quite rough, they wrap him up in towel and hold him down. The therapist said that he will feel better with me holding him down, so I make sure that I am with him on every suction (2x a day). Quite true, he will not cried anymore after the suction is completed.
BTW, u don't see me crying at the suction as I felt that Xiang will able to feel my fear and that will make him more terrified. I also busy with holding him down, talking and smoothing his head and shoulder to calm him down. (Yes, I cried at nite).

elmobbger,
i may join the jshopper spree, but not sure abt the size lei. Guess u must be the best person to advise.... kekekeke...
if order for my bot, 6mth old abv shld be wat size huh? 80?
how abt if i order for natalie, wat size shld i chose huh? thks in adv!

Yap &amp; TBL,
Great to hear that Xiang &amp; Nathan are both on the road to recovery.

It must be tough on you gals the past weeks but all's over now!

Wah...seems like Raffles Hospital better than GlenE.

TBL,
can share with us who's Nathan's PD ?

elmobbger,
u very evil hor...tempt us to buy things. kekeke. that's a nice &amp; sweet white dress but no occasion to wear.

Yu,
is elicia better now ? u must take care too.

Eve Leo,
wah..ur gal really so comfy in your tummy. =)

KC,
RY better now?

I was down with viral flu since last Fri too. the bug is really getting round. All mummies and babies/toddlers here pls take care.

Yap,
It's really good news that xiang is discharged.
you are really a strong mummy. I'm the cyring-mummy lah, everytime will cry if i heard any not-so-good news!
embarrassed.gif

nathan had phelgm in both lungs, PD "try-not-to" do the suction since he is still too young, but at the end bo bian as situation became worse. But didnt do it at fix timing (like ur case 2x per day), only do when necessary. Same as x-ray, initially oso "try-not-to" but later PD worried it may be pneumonia then we have to do it lor. oh, the nurses at GE really bad! In RH me too complained abt the air-con and immediately they did the adjustment and came back 15mins later to check whether we are ok with the new temperature. I remember one of the nurses told me I alr have enough worries on nathan, so the last thing they want to bother me is the hospital environment or services. I'm impressed.
but the total bill not cheap. we spent total $4.1k on the hospital bill. $1.6k fm medisave n $2.5k cash. how many days u stay in GE? care to share the bill?

seagal,
nathan's PD at sengkang is Dr Allyson tan fm kids clinic. The one in RH is Dr Veronica Toh.

check wif you, you hv the bumper mat at home right? do u think i can put nathan (3wk+) on the bumper mat? is it too hard for bb? or i shld use normal matterss instead? thks.

TBL and Yap,
Yippee on the 2 boys getting better.
sayang the 2 weida mummies...

such a difference between the 2 hospitals.
but i have heard very good 'reviews' about RH too from friends.

hi Yap &amp; TBL,
same as seagal, great to hear that Xiang &amp; Nathan are both on the road to recovery... hug hug both of them...

hi TBL,
i feel so honoured to give adv.. kekeke... natalie should order the same size as ger, size 90 still got allowance.. as for nathan ah... eh... 6mths sizing... i think 80 sure can lar, maybe still cant wear yet. if u need, i check with 1 mummy for u, her twins ordered the smaller sizing.. kekeke.. i only ordered size 90, 100 and 110 before.. i tell u, never try 110 for natalie hor, is like keeping 2-3 years then can wear.. pls..

hi seagal,
me not evil lar, just sharing the joy of buying..

hi lachesiz,
dont like this leh, u are my shifu leh.. dont forget i always look for u when i cant decide or need some opinion hor..

hi pcs, www.jshoppers.com is the website.. i make my own purchase fm the website.. is easy and convenient, shipping charges is affordable so i think save time and hassle fm joining spree at mktplace lor.. and best of all, u receive items within 5 days.

hi mummies, i might be getting some stuffs fm gym next wk, any of u wants to get any stuff?

TBL,
the bumper mat may be a bit thin for nathan although it's padded and quite soft.

i think he will be more comfy lying on a mattress. i know this qn sounds silly but where do u intend to place the mat if u buy it ? he's a bit young to be placed on the floor ... do u have the netted baby rocker ? that one cheap and good leh. got ventilation too.

elmobbger,
wow ... u really spree queen hor.

btw, just kpo only, the kids' size for jshopper should be the same as HushHush since both are Jap brands right ?

yuru,
hope u r better now. =)

daffy,
wah ... ur blog really stylo milo. it seems more like ur blog than chloe's blog leh.

sorry, i didn't have time to call u on the pt cleaner yet. is she still available ?
