My Community Festival 2020 (Virtual tours)
Fri Dec 4 – Sun Dec 20
Unable to get a ticket for the physical tours at My Community Festival? Fret not. My Community Festival has organised a series of free virtual tours that allows more Singaporeans to discover the hidden stories in the everyday places that we live, work and play in. These online offerings will complement the islandwide programmes that shine a spotlight on the rich cultures and traditions of the people and the communities who call Singapore home. The festival is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, and is a part of the ongoing SingapoRediscovers campaign.
Members of the public can look forward to a selection of four free carefully curated virtual tours led by residents and volunteers, that are held on the Zoom platform. Streamed ‘live’ using roving cameras on site, participants will get an opportunity to meet the everyday people who will take them through a tour of the spaces that hold important personal memories, and share their best kept secrets.
From unearthing gems within the lively and rustic districts like Holland Village and Tanglin Halt, to taking a glimpse within the walls of Singapore’s first power station run by natural gas or the secret dungeons of Mount Faber, these tours provide an immersive experience for participants to see Singapore in a new light. Participants will also get a chance to ask questions and interact virtually with the guides for a more intimate sharing.
Find out more about our cherished spaces through the following virtual tours:

What keeps our city of lights running? While there are many answers to this question, join us on this tour and find out how Liquefied Natural Gas or LNG for short can power our homes and daily activities. Constructed in June 2011, PacificLight is Singapore’s first power station to be completely fueled by this natural gas and contributes to 9.5 per cent of Singapore’s total energy consumption!
● My Mount Faber Virtual Tour

My Mount Faber Virtual Tour takes participants to the military encampments, tunnel complexes and secret reservoirs constructed by the British at Mount Faber to defend their naval base in Keppel Harbour. Follow us on a virtual adventure to the secret dungeons within the heart of our city and hear first-hand accounts from the former villagers and soldiers at Mt Faber.
● My Holland Village Virtual Tour
13 December 2020 (Sunday) | 8pm to 9.30pm
While Holland Village is a popular expatriate centre and tourist attraction among Singaporeans today, not many know that it used to be a rubber plantation in the 1870s and a bustling military village in the 1930s. Join us at the My Holland Village Virtual Tour and trace the evolution of this neighbourhood that we have come to know and love.
● My Tanglin Halt Virtual Tour
20 December 2020 (Sunday) | 8pm to 9.30pm
My Tanglin Halt Heritage Tour traces the evolution of Queenstown as Singapore’s first satellite town.
