House: A Performance by Young Actors
Sat Nov 16 @ 11:00 am - Sun Nov 17 @ 5:00 pm$15
HOUSE is a theatrical experience featuring young aspiring actors aged 7 to 17 years from ACT 3 Drama Academy’s training programme ‘SPUR’ that takes young thespians to the next level of their aspiration for the Theatre.
Specially performed at 18 Temenggong Road, a beautifully preserved 100-year-old colonial ‘black and white’ bungalow tucked in the hills of Mount Faber, step back in time and relive a day in a household set in the 1920s, as ACT 3 Drama Academy’s young performers share the rich history of the landscape, its hidden secrets, history, stories and many more.
An intriguing promenade style piece of Theatre, audience will move and explore the rooms, witnessing four original site-specific 10 minute-performances that are steeped in the history of Mount Faber, Keppel Harbour, Temenggong Road and the House itself; a theatrical experience like no other!
Through an intimate setting, the audience will be fully immersed in local history as well as meet different characters as they share life tales, historical events, and unfold previously un- heard stories. Catch colourful characters from the past as they re-create interesting bits of lesser known history using dramatisation; bringing to life moments of swimming in the Keppel Hill Reservoir, the naming of Mount Faber, and the development of Telok Blangah under the charismatic leadership of the Temenggong.
Directed by Creative Head Dawn Lee, 25, a LASALLE College of the Arts-Goldsmith University of London graduate with a BA (Hons) in Acting, this ensemble piece hits home as the environment, scenes and characters take audience back to a version of old Singapore that most have forgotten.
