Children’s Day 2019: Events and Activities to Surprise the Kids on Their Special Weekend

Adults generally don’t think much about Children’s Day. It’s just a one-day school holiday for the younger ones and a regular work day for everyone else. Well, why not take a day off and spend it bonding with the little loves of your lives? There are plenty of fun Children’s Day 2019 events and family-friendly activities happening to honour our amazing children. Children’s Day 2019 falls on Friday, 4 October, making it a possible three-day weekend, so dads and mums, you know what to do!

1. Ha-Glow-een Fun with tokidoki at River Safari

Looking to complete your collection of limited-edition tokidoki x River Safari pins? Then it’s time to explore the River Gem Trail again across four weekends in October. You’ll also get to gaze at the graceful mermaids swimming with the manatees and take part in some Halloween fun. Activities include making neon rainbow slime, crafting a trick-or-treat bag, and having a glowing good time at the game booths.

The Asian Civilisations Museum invites families to an early Children’s Day celebration. Discover how children in different Southeast Asian countries celebrate the occasion through an interactive drama. Explore the galleries with the fun trail for families. And even create your own toy inspired by the colourful collection on display. While you’re there, sew a button onto the Poverty Quilt at the Shaw Foyer, an installation by artist Jimmy Ong.

3. GosTan Back – A Time-travelling Adventure on Wheels

An interactive theatrical journey by MySuperFuture Theatrical Productions, GosTan Back tells a story of a young boy who goes back in time to save the future. Sounds familiar? But unlike Marty McFly, Xiao Ming goes ‘Back to the Future’ right here in Singapore! Young audiences will experience our local history as they explore the Singapore History Gallery. It’s designed to engage special needs children aged six to 12 years and their families, but families with typically developing kids are welcome too.

4. ACT 3 Drama Academy Children’s Day Celebrations – Stars and Planets

Two drama workshops inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince await kids from three to seven years old. Building on children’s imagination and creativity, each two-hour drama workshop culminates in a casual performative showcase just for parents! They can also play the role of ice cream chefs in a gelato-making workshop. Finally, share a beautiful reinterpretation of The Little Prince with your kids seven years and up as storytellers bring this classic tale to life.

5. Bulan Bahasa – Membudayakan Bahasa (Malay Language Month Carnival)

To mark Malay Language Month, the Majlis Bahasa Melayu Singapura (Malay Language Council, Singapore) is presenting a family-friendly carnival on Children’s Day. Discover the richness of the Malay language, culture and heritage through a series of special programmes and activities. Be enchanted by performing preschoolers and learn how to paint batik, wear a sarong, and make a paper songkok. You can also enjoy Teater Kita, an interactive theatre production at Eunos Community Club on 6 October.

6. Free Tamagotchi at Wildseed Café

The family-friendly Wildseed Café has planned something very special in celebration of Children’s Day 2019. First, children up to 12 years old who order from the popular kid’s set menu get a complimentary Tamagotchi! This promotion begins on 4 October, with 50 units available at each outlet, while stocks last. Kids can also take part in a floral art jamming session, led by Windflower Florist, at Wildseed Café @ The Alkaff Mansion. 7. Playeum Presents: Make Your Mark!

8. Amazonia Children’s Day Carnival 2019

If your kids are already fans of Amazonia Singapore, then this will definitely make their day. The Amazonia Children’s Day Carnival is jam-packed with everything from a giant Jenga competition to impact wall games. There’ll also be magic shows, colouring activities, carnival game stalls and live food stations. Parents aren’t left out either, with a You-Tuber workshop, wine sampling, pilates and more. It’s going to be a kooky Halloween carnival filled with fun activities perfect for kids aged two to 12 years. 11. Octoburst! 2019 – A Children’s Festival

The 17th edition of Octoburst! features over 140 free and ticketed performances and activities. Children of all ages can participate, play and soak in moments of joy and other emotions the arts can evoke. Join lovable mascot PIP who leads the PIParade on 4 October. 13. The Little Tailor Boy (A Children’s Day Adventure)

An interactive storytelling session awaits amid the lush Singapore Botanic Gardens. The king has called for a challenge to hunt a boar, capture a unicorn and slay a giant. 15. CATalysts – A Promenade Theatre Performance
