June School Holidays 2019: 43 Super-fun Things for Kids to do

The four-week long June school holidays break is almost here! Have you got your jet-set plans all mapped out? Not to worry if not, for there are TONS of things to get busy with right here in Singapore. Check out the newest and biggest indoor playground in a shopping mall, go back to basics on Pulau Ubin, take flight at the ArtScience Museum, inhale art at the Gallery Children’s Biennale, throw some clay on a pottery wheel, learn to kick b*tt, and more. The kids (and you) will go crazy – in the best possible way this school holidays. Have fun!

1. Visit Kiztopia, the newest indoor playground in Singapore! (opens 15 June 2019)

This school holidays is special because it heralds the opening of Kiztopia, Singapore’s largest edutainment park in a shopping mall! With 18 different play areas set over 18,000 square feet, it’s a haven of non-stop fun for kids. Each play zone is designed so little ones under 12 years can cultivate social, emotional, and motor skills while having fun. The park also has educational programmes (starting August 2019) — such as rhythmic gymnastics, music and movement, speech and drama, cooking, phonics and reading, visual arts, science and robotics, facilities including an indoor driving school, role play rooms, Augmented Reality (AR) studios, and even its own themed café with healthy, nutritious bites! 2. Listen to the Ocean

The S.E.A. Aquarium commemorates World Oceans Day (8 June) with a conservation-themed festival — Ocean Fest: The Noisy Ocean. Journey through immersive installations and learn about ocean soundscapes and the negative impacts of sound pollution. Check out the “Celebration of Sound” where musical instruments made of upcycled materials and live-sized dancing puppets perform a song on the importance of 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle! 3. Try Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

4. Embrace Nature at Pesta Ubin

Ubin Day is celebrated on 29 June every year and if you’re a nature-lover, it’s a party not to be missed! Even better, this year’s Pesta Ubin goes on for six weeks — all through the June school holidays — with activities such as kayaking, nature walks, camps, sketching, kampung games, crafts, and more. Take this opportunity to explore one of Singapore’s last natural kampong areas, soak in the greenery, and visit Ah Ma’s drink stall, which is itself a heritage institution on Pulau Ubin!

5. Be A Zoologist at KidZania

Is your little one an animal lover? 7. Float your Imagination at the ArtScience Museum

Let the little ones’ imaginations fly sky high at ArtScience Museum’s new exhibition — Floating Utopias — during the school holidays. This dazzling visual experience explores the social history of inflatable objects, with over 40 artworks by international and local artists. Look out for the eight large-scale air-filled sculptures suspended in the galleries, especially ’Museum of the Moon’ by UK artist Luke Jerram, which was commissioned to commemorate the moon landing 50 years ago.

8. Embrace the Wonder of Art at the Gallery Children’s Biennale

Ready to experience some wonder? Back for its second instalment, the Gallery Children’s Biennale by the National Gallery Singapore has 11 interactive artworks by local and Southeast Asian artists that will take you on a fantastic, magical, journey of creative discovery. There are also three new reimagined spaces at the Keppel Centre for Art Education’s Project Gallery, Children’s Museum and Art Corridor to explore!

9. Watch Peter and Blue Go Around the World

11. Race Against Time at Singapore’s Biggest BayFest!

The DBS Marina Regatta has races taking place on land and in the sea, and promises to be a weekend of fun for one and all! Water lovers, get set for adrenaline-pumping dragon boat races featuring local and International teams. 13. Camp and Play as a Family

Families for Life P.L.A.Y. Camps are back with two editions this June! Put on that pith helmet, you’re going on a quest in search of the elusive polar dinosaur of Australia! 42. Build an Igloo for the Penguins

Igloo cake, that is! If your child loves baking, art and craft, and the animal kingdom, this is the workshop to sign up for. First, participants will bake a mini strawberry-flavoured cake. While it bakes, they’ll make a penguin felt card holder. Finally, they get to build an igloo using mini marshmallows, for their penguins. Aspiring bakers aged 4 to 12 are welcome.
