The March school holidays are here! What plans do you have for the family? I’d love to take a few days off to have a no-device holiday with the kids at one of these kelongs near Singapore. Visit Sesame Street at Changi Airport
The world’s most famous street has come to Changi Airport! Meet Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Abby Cadabby and Oscar the Grouch and follow them on a journey of fun and discovery. Kicking things off is the first-in-Asia Our Street to Yours Sesame Street pop-up exhibition. Come pose at Instagram-worthy thematic zones and favourite scenes from the well-loved television series. Then, let the kids get some Inflatable Fun sliding down a 4.7m-tall slide into a huge multi-coloured ball pit, and navigating their way through inflatable obstacles like tunnels, a ladder and a climbing wall. This 30m-long inflatable playground will be in Terminal 3 Departure Hall from 9 March to 8 April, before moving to Terminal 4 from 25 May to 1 July. Keep in mind that âL is for Luckâ when you try the larger-than-life Gachapon machines with Sesame Street-themed capsules filled with special deals and prizes from shops and restaurants in Changi Airport.

Master the Art Of Speed at Playeum

Designed for children aged 8 to 12 and supported by ExxonMobil, The Art of Speed On The Road II is a two-hour programme centered around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). Facilitated by Playeumâs playmakers, children will get to explore the concept of speed and physics through carefully designed activities. Working with recycled materials and electronics such as LED lights, motors, batteries and more, the activities play an emphasis on discovery, experimentation and the importance of process. While the programme is specially for the children of Playeumâs community partners and is taking place throughout the March holidays, FREE* slots are also available for the public to register and be part of on 17 and 18 March. While there, the kids can also enjoy Playeumâs current hands-on exhibition âMaking It Homeâ.

Dive into National Geographicâs Ocean Wonders

Go to The Playground at District Design Dialogue Holland Village
District Design Dialogue – Holland Village features the design takeover of 10 terrace house, and there’s one just for kids! Drop your little ones off at The Playground, let them interact with installations, attend workshops, and learn through playful and imaginative learning. The fun starts outside, as they climb through a string maze to reach the front door! Once inside, they’ll be greeted with a weave installation of fishes made from recycled material. Children can add other sea creatures and coral too. Kids can also draw on a Band of Doodlers mural, paint their hearts out in the Rainbow Room, meet electronic pets at the Robot Petting Zoo (and learn to make their own robo-pets at âBuild your own Robot-Petâ workshops), and take part in workshops like gelato making, guerilla carpentry, coding camps and invention workshops. Bring them over to the House of EYEYAH! after that. This T-shirt exhibition for kids is created from over 30 artists from around the world, and designed to raise awareness of the dangers of the internet.

Visit a Fantasy Zoo Balloon Exhibition at Marina Square
Singaporeâs signature balloon exhibition presented by Marina Square Shopping Mall (Marina Square) is back! This year’s theme is Fantasy Zoo and we’re sure kids will be awed by the one-of-a-kind 3D balloon animal creations by 38 balloon artists from nine different countries. This year, the balloon exhibition will showcase majestic elephants, zebras, a peacock and adorable pandas. Also, be wowed by the show-stopping centrepiece â a 6-metre-tall by 4-metre-wide balloon panda installed in beautiful floral designs and enjoying its favourite bamboo shoot. Head to Marine Cove for Weekends in the Park
The first in a series of free, fun and family-friendly weekends to be held at East Coast Park organised by nParks happens in the first weekend of the March school hols. Browse through the Terra Village sustainable and lifestyle market, then take part in free eco-crafting and upcycling workshops. There’ll be loads of play activities and even giveaways! If that’s not enough, the kids surely won’t mind the opportunity to have some fun at their favourite outdoor playground at Marine Cove. Parents can take a relaxing stroll by the beach too!

If you have children who have special needs, or who are extra sensitive to their environment and hence have never been to a theatre production, this is one that’s perfect for them. Part of the Esplanade’s PLAYtime! series, this inclusive production (what’s a sensory-friendly performance? www.esplanade.com/sensoryfriendly) of The Dog Who Goes Woof Woof offers a welcoming and relaxed environment for children in general, particularly for those on the autism spectrum or with sensory sensitivities. 2. Explore the Elements of Art
We love how Jelly Bean Attic brings art to little ones. This holiday they have a sensory craft series dubbed Elements of Art for children from 18 months to 4 years old. At each workshop parent-and-child teams explore line through marble painting, and texture through shape collages using differently textured materials.

3. Make the Future with Shell
Shellâs Make the Future Singapore is a festival that celebrates energy ideas and innovation in Asia. Bring the kids and let them see what young people from various countries have developed for to ensure energy efficiency in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia vehicle-building competition and the Bright Ideas Challenge. The location may be a little out of the way but there will be regular shuttle buses every 15 to 30 minutes from Expo MRT station.

4. Laugh it Up at the Festival of Fun
Back to bring oodles of fun to kids and parents this March, the Festival of Fun kicks off with a four-day comedy festival, and loads of activities for everyone to enjoy. For the second time, Nicklodeon Fiesta joins in to welcome families to discover Singaporeâs diverse heritage cuisine, and get sweaty with outdoor games and challenges. You’ll get to win Nickelodeon collectibles at all the nine game-booths and through stage games as well.
And just when you thought it was going to be quiet again, get ready for more fun and laughter with six days of street performances – flown in direct from Convent Garden in London! – at the Clarke Quay StreetFest.

5. Watch the Night Shine at i Light Marina Bay
If you haven’t yet been to any of the past five i Light Marina Bay events, don’t miss this chance to ogle at the art of light and be dazzled by the creative uses of it. Organized by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), i Light Marina Bay 2018 sustainable light art festival will have 22 light art installations â three of which were created using recyclables donated by the community and corporate partners. There’ll also be a variety of family-friendly activities around the bay, like the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival and Art-Zoo so fun is guaranteed for all in the family!

6. Get your Bounce on at Art-Zoo Inflatable Park
The largest experiential inflatable playground is back with new huge characters. The playground is open for adults and children who are keen to embark on a imaginative journey by running and bouncing along among the gigantic creatures. No shoes, food nor drinks other than water inside the compound. Children must be accompanied by adult at all times.

7. Meet the We Bare Bears (WBB) at Sentosa
At Sentosa, the State of Fun, kids can have a beary good time with the very popular We Bare Bears (WBB) inflatables as Palawan Beach gets transformed into a massive inflatables playground, featuring over 300 WBB inflatables, a 50-foot three-layer bearstack, a giant maze, a rock climbing wall for everyone to join in the fun, a tennis plat area, a balancing beam area, and more! On the weekends of 10 â 11 March and 16 â 18 March, there will be special screenings of WBB episodes at Palawan Green every evening at 7.45pm too. 12. Unleash the Superhero in your child this March!
Let your child discover their inner gems and build their character at the Superhero We inclusive arts festival in the upcoming school holidays! This unique inclusive arts festival aims to empower children to realise their potential and embrace diversity. Children of different abilities â those with special needs and those without, are invited to learn, play and mingle with each other through a facilitated experience drawn from the learnings of an inclusive classroom. The budding Superheroes can take part in a wide range of activiites â storytelling, art, craft, music and dance workshops designed to foster inclusion. 13. Get Acquainted with the Trees at the Fort
Did you know that we have heritage trees in a historical park in the heart of the city? They’re at Fort Canning Park, and you can get up close to learn about them (including the 40m-tall ones by the Fort Canning reservoir) during this fascinating walking tour conducted by the NParks. 14. Listen to Disney Love Stories while you Picnic
This is perfect weekend playdate material, mums. All you’ll need to pack is a picnic. 16. Learn how to Sail a Yacht
The SAF Yacht Club’s Get Kids Afloat programme introduces sailing to children 7 to 15 years old. Throughout the four-day course participants will learn about parts of a craft, how to rig a craft, points of sail, what to do when capsized, and more. Do note that kids who sign up must be able to swim at least 50 meters non-stop, independently. Parents will be briefed at 9am on the first day and will ride a powerboat at 2pm on the last day to watch their children in action.

18. Have Bubbly Fun at KidsSTOP

21. Go Green! Celebrate Earth Week
WWF is hosting Earth Hour festival which will be educating people about wildlife, forests and oceans in a fun way. 22. Spread Kindness at the Metta Charity Carnival
In Pali, the word “Metta” means loving kindness. This festival, themed Cartoon Wonderland, welcomes people of all ages, races, and religions. Join the 3km leisure morning walk, enjoy live stage performances, browse for good bargains, and feast on a variety of vegetarian food. All proceeds go to Mettaâs beneficiaries. 23. Make Energy Move at MindFest
This takes place after the school holidays, but we’re recommending that you pencil it in your calendar as it is great fun! Suitable for participants of all ages, families and friends can team up to form a groups of 2 to 5 people, then come up with innovative creations that convert energy. Children below 10 years old must have at least one adult in their team. Each session lasts one hour.

This event is happening after the school holidays as well but it’s a must-go. There’s a concert, where you can watch performers like Canadian violinist Adrain Anantawan, crooner Tony Dee from Australia (who was the star of the 2016 Rio Olympics trailer Weâre The Superhumans), Drake Music Scotlandâs Digital Orchestra, Alienette Coldfire from the Philippines (who was second runner-up in Franceâs Got Talent 2016), and multinational dance crew ILL-Abilities.Thereâs also a festival village (free entry) so bring the kids down for interactive experiences through which they can learn about various kinds of disability. The Village will also have screenings of short films about disability, theatre performances, Paralympics Sports tryouts, an exhibition, sale of art, merchandise, food, and drink.

25. Enjoy Thrills and Spills at the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival
At three and a half football fields large, with over 40 rides and game stall, this is THE carnival of the year. Bring the kids down to let them find out what a funfair is all about and give them an experience of a lifetime on the fantastic rides. Do note that there are height limits (1.4m and above for the more ‘daring’ rides) but children under 1.3m in height can still enjoy rides like Shark Coaster, Lighthouse Slip, Jungle River (you’ll get wet!) and Formula 3000. Played enough? Get some bites at Gastrobeats at The Promontory, which will be transformed into a colourful neon playground for the school holidays. Here, you’ll be able to play with LED-lit hula hoops, glow-in-the-dark versions of hopscotch and chess, attend eco-craft workshops, fitness programmes, and enjoy live entertainment on Friday to Sunday nights.

26. Pick Up Science at the Circus
Ever wanted to run away to the circus? Now you can, at the Science Centre’s Circus! Science Under The Big Top exhibition. Kids of all ages can try their hands at High Striker, Ring Toss, Connect 4 and NERF Target Practice, win prizes, and learn the secrets of circus tricks and magic. And because it’s the holidays, with each Circus! ticket purchased, you will be entitled to 3 FREE tries at any of the following four games â High Striker, Ring Toss, Connect 4 and NERF Target Practice.
