Any 2008 MTBs staying in the East (Tanjong Rhu and Marine Parade) <IMG SRC="http://www.singaporemoth

Hi all mummies and mummies-to-be,

I am due in September 2008 and staying at Tanjong Rhu area. Look forward to making friends with mummies in the east side :p

hi schoko,
I'm due in another 4 weeks
happy.gif
I live in the east too. At Kembangan
happy.gif

Hi Catherine,

Exciting! Is it your first? Which week are you in now? Opting for natural birth? Which hospital are you delivering in? Girl or boy?
happy.gif

Kembangan is a nice place, my impression is that it is very calm and peaceful there.

hi schoko,
ya it's my 1st baby and it's a girl
happy.gif
I'm having my cesearan on 28th july... so another 23 more days
happy.gif

Ya kembangan is peaceful cos it's a small estate
happy.gif

how about you ? 1st baby ?

Hi Catherine,

It's my first too, and it's a boy. Ask you a personal question, what's the reason you opt for C-sect? If it's personal you dont have to answer
happy.gif

schoko,
nothing really personal .. just that i didnt want to go thru the ordeal of labour, the waiting etc .. so decided on csec, and my gynae said ok.
happy.gif
you're going for natural ?

so was planning for csec with epi then cos of the fibroid bring very close to the incision so therefore was advised to go on GA instead.

Hi

I tot this thread started off with Sassy, wonder what happened along the way..

anyway, I'm also staying at Tanjong Rhu and is SAHM now. My boy is now 10mths old..

Just tot its fun to ve more mummy friends.. ;P

heya catherine, now I know what you mean by not wanting to go through the ordeal of labour and the waiting. I am not due until another 4 weeks, but doctor says I might have early labour. Anytime now. So, I'm on bed rest. It's Sooooo frustrating!! Everytime I feel pain, I will wonder if it is a contraction!! LOL! Everytime I call my husband or friends, first thing they as is "you need to go hospital ah?".. it's funny but frustrating also la.

catherine, Kimmies

Can understand how u gals felt. I had to wait for mine too for so long. During labour was also a long wait for me, i had 38hrs labour!! end up still c-section!! we tried everything without success (induce tablet, injection, vaccum etc) bcos baby was not in the correct position(head down but facing was wrong, called OP position) n his body was too long for my short body.

I never knew of OP position was a concern, I only tot as long as the head is down, everything's fine.. i was wrong. this is something rarely highlighted in magazines n books.

hi cyn! 38 hours!! my goodness.. so I am very lucky, my first one was only 8 hours. hey, can I ask you something? I have heard that people who tried normal delivery, and then subsequently went for C-section ended up having to pay for both types of delivery methods. Is that true?

cyn, your 38hrs of labour is really no joke man! i'm lucky that my labour is short (3hrs) for my #1. but had c-sect for my #2 due to breech position.

ya, man! My bill swell up to 13k (or was it 17K can't remember) !

Mainly bcos of the long wait in the delivery ward, the 5 tubes of epidural, the emergency c-section + the natural delivery + vacuum + induce (i had EVERYTHING! u name it, i had it!). But also due to i had mine in Mt E and was stayin in the single bedder, hubby stay over as well and since mine is considered "complicated" labour, i had to stay slightly longer in the hosp after delivery

I started having contractions at 7pm Monday nite, got admitted the next day at 5-6am, waited in the delivery ward for 2 days (bcos dilation was very very slow due to OP position), doc burst the bag manually, injection to induce further, waited again until fully dilated, doc cut below (yes! I got 2 places cut! below and c-section area!) and i tried to push, cannot come out, doc use vacuum, and push, again cannot come out, so doc say baby under distress, need to go emergency c-section. Baby finally come out on Wednes morning 9am and the c-section only took 15min (according to my hubby since i on GA) for them to take baby out.

I had epidural (used abt 5 tubes in total, one after another since it was a long long wait) after the pain was unbearable after the 1st induce (using tablet insertion). By the time i fully dilate, want to push, i can't feel one side of my legs(numb) that my hubby has to help me hold my tat leg so that i can push.

Sorry gals, not to scare u but my true life encounter is quite an extreme case.. so don't worry too much abt yours.

Hi Cyn...o man, I feel like fainting just reading your experience. And, the best part is, yesterday I had a checkup and the doctor told me that my baby is facing upwards.. that is OP position right?? Argh!! Now, I'm really scared. I'm really timid when it comes to delivery... it's definitely EPI upon arrival for me.

O man, I really hope that my baby will flip the other side so that he can face downwards... *nervous*

Kimmies, DOn't think too much abt it now..
i read somewhere on the web that MOST of the time, the baby will turn to the right position nearer to labour.. i guess mine is bcos my baby v naughty, decided to turn to OP position (yes, face upwards or infront) during labour bcos the day or days b4 i went into labour, he wasn't facing OP and plus he was too long for me that his body went pointing slightly diagonal, ie he wasn't lying straight down, so it was tough for me to push him out(bcos i short la)... tough luck for me! need to spank my baby's buttocks for giving me such a hard time! hehe!.. I also read that such labour are rare and even more rare for Non-1st time pregnancies. (i lost the web link, if not i can forward to u.. in there they also teach u how to feel the baby position urself and do some exercises to move the baby.. i shld ve read it during my pregnancy).. but i remember in the article, it say to do more walking when nearer to labour, don't lie in a seated position too often (which is something i did most of my pregnancy time, i too lazy n comfortable) bcos it will restrict baby to turn if he is already in OP position

Anyway, doc told me such position DURING labour is considered "complications" BUT sometimes it can still be delivered naturally, however some docs will advise mummies to go for c-section and not try natural (tat's what happen to my ex-colleague).. for me, i wanted natural, so when doc told me to go for emergency c-section, i actually cried. but FYI, she also told me such labour will usually take very very long for dilation. If she didn't burst my waterbag, she say my contractions pain may actually drag even longer.

Catherine, i think my whole pregnancy is an experience to remember.. I almost lost my baby when he was 7wks in tummy.. no heartbeat, no yolk, no fetus.. doc wanted to abort it but my chinese medi saved him! then in my 2nd trimester, i had the "100-day cough" in which i went doc after doc bcos it was unbearable until doc say "u better don't take any medi.. no more will help"

wa, Jamie, ur 1st one 3hrs.. u really really very lucky man! u shld kiss ur baby more for loving u so much! ;P

But i heard for every subseq labour, the time get shorter n shorter.. i have friends (one is my own boss and the other a friend's friend) who got delivered in the car, can't make it to the hosp! but it was a smooth one! so b sure to get to the hosp quick for ur suseq ones (if any).. hehe!

hi cyn,
i totally agree yours is something really hard to forget..
happy.gif
my entire pregnancy has been relatively smooth. No MS, no cravings, mood swings, etc. I ate as per normal and went about everything as per normal. Only problem I'm having is that baby is not very active so stressing me out cos of that. Some days I dont even have my 10 sets of movements in 12 hours. Then about 1.5 mth ago, testest +ve for GD. But it's all well controlled now. Also another thing is that my baby is relatively small in size. last weighed 2.22 at 35weeks. So that is another stress for me. ohhh and I have fibroid, which is quite common, but it's position is near the incision so I cant have an epi Csec, i need to go under GA. Guess every pregnancy has it's hiccups
happy.gif
I'm just praying everyday that my baby move more and put on more weight
happy.gif

Hi Catherine,

Sorry for such a late response! Yes, I have opted for natural, we'll see how it goes
happy.gif

I have been busy searching for a maid this week. I have found one suitable one and will be going to agent right after this to confirm the details etc.

Cyn, your pregnancy is such a story to tell!
happy.gif
I am just glad that you and baby are well now, the labour story would remain a special memory between u and your beloved baby
happy.gif

Cyn... thanks for sharing... but I did what you did as well. I was googling about this OP position thingy, and yes there are some exercises that I can do to help him flip. It's so farnie when I was reading about how you are always lying down, or resting, because that's what happened to me for this pregnancy!! I am always sooooo tired for this 2nd one, the moment I reach home from work, I will lie down. Wheras with the first one, I was so active, and was still swimming doing lots of walking. My first one was 8 hours labour. Today, I'm going to try those exercises... but if he continues to be in OP position, then I will opt for C-Section. Like i mentioned before, my threshold for pain, and for suffering.. is ZERO! :p

Hey Catherine, you are lucky to have such a smooth pregnancy, you don't even have MS! You know till now, I still have MS in the morning sometimes!!! What is "10 sets of movements in 12 hours"? You mean the baby is supposed to move 12 times in the body every 12 hours? Also, think you don't need to worry about the weight. I've heard that towards the last trimester, the baby's weight increases exponentially, so he'll get bigger and bigger at a fast rate towards the end.

cyn
i'm one of those lucky ones tat kanna short labour. yes i heard for subsequent labour, it does get shorter. but for my 2nd pregnancy, i hv to opt for c-sec coz bb in breech position lor. anyway 2 kids enough for me liao, can close shop keke...

Agree with Kimmies on baby weight gain towards last trimester.. but do watchout on ur own weight too. i gain so much (entire pregnancy gain abt 20-22kg) during the last trimester until all my stretch marks appear during the last 2 mths b4 i deliver.. i tot i was lucky with no stretchmarks..then suddenly all came in just a few days.. i ve it everywhere.. so sad!
sad.gif

abt movement, is urs a gal? i heard gals are not as active. my colleague says sometimes she doesn't feel her gal move alot but when she had her boy, she felt it most of the time. My boy is extremely active.. even till now (fr in tummy, after delivery till now), he has been v hyper. I remember once during the early mths, the gynae did a scan, trying to capture the measurement of his neck but he couldn't stay still in my womb, jumpin ard like on trampoline until the doc shouted "Oi! can keep still or not?" keke! After delivery, everytime i try to burp him after feeding, he will move his butt off my lap, my MIL ask "does he has sh*t in his butt? backside itchy issit?" now he is learning to walk, so climb here n there.

kimmies,
my gynae say there are 2 ways to measure baby movements. 1 method is 10 movements in 2 hours. eg kick, kick , stretch .. stop ...kick kick .. that is 5 movements. These are for those very active babies. The other one is 10 sets of movements in 12 hours. Using same example eg kick, kick , stretch .. stop ...kick kick .. That would be 2 sets of movements cos there is a rest period in between.

cyn_here,
actually not true about girls being less active. my niece was so active when my cousin was preggy. my cousin was like in so much pain.

hi cyn, I guess I'm so lucky.. I belong to the category where my friends tell me they "hate" me.. because I lose weight, but my baby put on weight.. so strange. :p but, you are right, towards the end, my stretch marks are all popping out! I was quite devastated... so now, I'm slapping on the stretch mark cream!

wow cat, I didn't know there is this baby movement thingy... I won't be able to keep track because my baby keeps me awake at night with his kicking, and I can't get enough sleep! Different people have different sets of probs... sigh.

Wa, Catherine, didn't know there's such way to track baby movement (sound like some sort of exercise steps or dance steps! hehe
happy.gif
)

For me, i was the same as kimmies.. My baby move more at nite (when he still in tummy) until i find it hard to sleep.. sometimes he kick real hard while i sleep until i actually awaken and towards the last few weeks, he barely had any space to move, i felt some pain/discomfort with him moving, i can actually see his movement (i even video-cam it!) i felt like an alien! hehe!

But I read most of the time, babies sleep (while in tummy) during the day (so less movement) and awake more at nite bcos during the day mummy walk ard alot, so its like in a cradle or sarong for them (rocking to sleep) whilst at nite, mummy rest, they feel quiet and fresh fr the daytime sleep that they stay more awake at nite (more movement).

Hi everyone, I also posted in another similar thread on East Coast Mummies. I'm staying in Marine Parade, and looking for any SAHMs that want to form a regular group - maybe start off with coffee at Parkway Parade? I have a 6 month old daughter, time to expose her to other babies else she keeps staring at me all the time
happy.gif
Anyone keen?

hi oscarthegrouch
i used to stay in marine parade too but hv moved to old airport road, near my mum's place after i hv my #2. my boy is abt 4.5mths now. would love to meet up if time permits.

Hi Cat! Congrats!! Your daughter looks absolutely adorable!
happy.gif
And, I must say, kudos to you, you are really really very maternal (in a good way). When I had my first one, to be honest, I didn't really feel anything... it was only a few months later, that I really started feeling like a mom. Now I have my second one (yes, I popped last week, baby is 7 days old now), I must really enjoy the process before he grows up too fast, and I miss out again. Because I sure as hell will NOT be having another one!!!

kimmies,
congrats.. yes i'm enjoying her every moment. in fact i even miss being pregnant and her inside me.. hahhaa

Ladies.. Breastfeeding is sooo painful!!!!! My son made my nipples bleed, and now they are fine, but everytime he wants to latch on, I got this phobia!! I want to run away!!! Why is something so beautiful so painful???? Can someone please tell me if all this pain will stop at some stage and that I will enjoy BFing? Right now, I breakout in cold sweat everytime I know it's feeding time, and my whole bidy just tense up when he is sucking. I've already gone to see a lactation consultant to see how to latch on correctly, but for some reason, my nipples are still so pain! ARGH!!!!!!!!

hi kimmies.. pls hang in there. i know exactly how you feel, cos my nipples bled till they cracked and i cried everytime i bf, and almost didnt want baby to be near my breast. i even had problems wearing a t-shirt cos it kept rubbing and i kept bleeding.

i asked myself the same thing - if this is supposed to be natural and the best why is it so torturous? but trust me, once the initial period is over, u will love the feeling of trust as your baby snuggles up to you and puts his/her little hand against you. in the meantime pls use a lot of nipple cream, and sometimes u can express out your bm in order to give yourself a break?

all the best..

Hi Oscar, my friend had also shared with me that she BF until she cried. I couldn't understand why, but now I know why. I'm quite lucky as I don't have a problem with milk supply, so at least I only just have to cope with the pain. But then, the shooting pains with every suckle is just so horrible. My whole body just cannot move.. and it's especially bad at night. I'm pretty sure that he's latched on the best that he can already. He's got a pretty small mouth, and so can only grab that much.. sob sob.. I'll just try to hang in there. At least I broke my own record, the previous one, I latched on for only a few days...

Hi Cath and Kimmies

Congrats!

Kimmies, I too bled initially (only for a few days during the 1st 2 wks), after that was a breeze for me until he has teeth! but although I enjoy BF bcos of the bonding and closeness (it makes me feel important n close to my son), now i can't seem to know how to stop him.. he's turning 1 yr old next mth!

I suggest you stop latching on until your nipples recover, for the timebeing, use a breast pump to extract the milk. but also ve to be careful with which brand u use, some too strong, can b painful.. i tried the hospital one onloan, i was crying with tears with each suction. I find the Medala nipple cream works very well, help to soothe abit and treat the wound. apply after each feed (its safe for baby) and shower.

And since u ve lots of milk, better becareful of engorgement. Many of my friends stop BF bcos of that, end up having high fever n infection etc.. My post-natal massage lady taught me how to manually extract my milk if engorge bcos the pump itself isn't sufficient. Also, the more u drain ur milk, the more supply u will have for subsequent BF.

Happy BF! don't give up! Tell ur baby when she grow up, how much u ve done for her! :p

Hi Cyn, thanks.. I've decided not to be so anal about it. So, I'll live with latching on a few days, resting for a day or 2 to pump. Otherwise, I really won't be able to enjoy breastfeeding because of the pain!

Hi Cat, I read your blog, as in your main blog. Your comments about the Snow Queen is exactly what I thought too! Except that everytime I watch the show (when it was on cable), my husband would announce in his irritating voice that I am watching that "boring show" and he would pretend to cry! Eventually, I didn't finish watching the show.. firstly too draggy, secondly, I think someone would have died in the end.. too sad for me la!

Feel free to check out my blog at www.katecheng.blogspot.com

hi kimmies,
actually i find the show very nice .. sad .. but nice
happy.gif
now i watching the golden bride 7pm Ch55.

enjoyed ur blog .. can i add a link from mine ?

Hi kimmies

Saw ur blog, wow! ur baby choose to come out at 08.08.08 at 0008 time! and ur whole process was hilarious! never heard of waterbag hanging outside. but its very interesting... and entertaining! hehe! ;P

Cat! I started watching the Golden Bride 2 days ago... :p That guy is quite cute hur! My husband says I'm a "cheeko pek" because I like young Korean actors.. hahaha...

BTW, your headaches about the one-month, I have them too! For my first one, Kate, my mum and husband went mad and invited so many people, and I stay in a HDB, so not much space. We ended up hosting 3 sessions over 2 days. It was exhausting!!

This time for Isaac, I just want one session, but it seems impossible.
happy.gif
BTW, if you have budget, and you are organising for those one-month cakes, you might want to try gobi. They look nice and taste good but they do them only in one flavour for one month celebrations, I.e. chocolate cake (which is their speciality)

Hey, btw, can I add your baby's link to my blog?

Hi Cyn, where did you say you stay again? Sorry, brain damage.. cannot remember liao.

hi kimmies

i stay at Tanjong Rhu..
happy.gif

now no maid.. jus sent my previous one back last wk (can't tahan her attitude).. waiting for new one.. so v tied down with baby now.. can't even go out! ;P

O yes,.. now I remember. O.. you will be busy when the new maid comes as well. But it is good... You know, before I gave birth to my second one, secretly, I likeed it when my maid goes out or goes to my mother's house because I will be left alone with my daughter and I get to bond with her. I can't wait for my confinement to be over, and my injuries to heal, then I can make up to my elder daughter. Recently I've found that she's quite sticky to the maid! Unacceptable!

kimmies,
but the show only the junyu is cute.. dont like the others. even the actress not pretty. but i think it should be a happy ending type la. also i predict the zhenzhu's father is yingmin's father. hahaa. typical storyline. hahaha

we're inviting about 60+ people and just my frens alone. and had to skip quite a few cos worry my place the function rm not enuf. hubby side only his parents, bro and sis family. he not inviting his frens. for the cakes, i'm ordering from www.roomfordesserts.com for relatives and frens i'm giving from www.babybliss.com. the cake quite ex in the end, plus wordings $21 (just cake no eggs), then the babybliss package is about $13 each. i wanted to hire icecream chefs to come do the icecream party but they are booked for the day. So i ordered a hello kitty cake from www.cherylsuen.com (very ex !!) sigh .. the whole event i spending more than 2K. And cos all my frens so i wont ask hubby to pay
sad.gif

sure u can add a link to the blog
happy.gif

cat
wow cheryl shuen's cake!! i can only drool leh. i really bu ser de lor coz its so ex. i only go for pine garden to do a 'copycat' one keke...

Hi Kimmies

I usually make it a point to ensure my child isn't too attached to the maid, just in case we decide to change maid or mayb even go for holiday (without the maid of course). I remember my nephew when he was abt 1yr+, he was v attached to the maid, when my sis n family (without the maid) went to Aus for holiday, my nephew couldn't sleep for many nights.. keep calling for "jie jie".

So i take care of my boy most of the time.. maid is only meant to do housechores, cooking, cleaning baby stuff like toys, clothes, dishes, bottles etc. think i v spoilt la! ;P

But i also intend to go back to work someday but only when my boy is big enough to go to nursery/pre-school or at least when he can talk.. so for now, can also supervise n monitor the maid while i spend precious time with my boy. (i have nobody to help me supervise the maid, i find leaving the maid alone with my child, whom has yet to know how to talk, dangerous)

btw, apart fr Golden Bride, which are the other popular korean dramas now? thinking of buying some..i don't have channel 55.
