Hospital Maternity Packages in Singapore

Our birth rate may not be growing but services for mums and children are booming. If you are currently expecting a baby, you can enjoy facilities and services – such as hypnobirthing classes or even a cocktail reception after delivery – that were unavailable to pregnant couples as recently as five years ago. One hospital even offers what it terms “luxury maternity care” which ensures that the new mum has a dedicated midwife and private nurse during her stay. Read on to find out what maternity hospitals in Singapore now provide to pamper preggies with. They’re almost tempting me to haul the husband into the bedroom for some horizontal gymnastics…

Gleneagles Hospital

We like The confinement menu is designed in consultation with Traditional Chinese Physicians from Eu Yan Sang, and new mums can enjoy free flow of longan and red date tea. All single bedrooms have Internet connection, personal telephone, television and DVD player.

KKH is the specialist tertiary medical centre for high risk and complicated pregnancies referred from other centres locally and abroad. KKH is also the only dedicated women’s and children’s restructured hospital in Singapore. The perinatal team is on 24-hour standby with facilities and capabilities for immediate emergency Caesarean Section delivery. This enhances safety for women in labour and their babies in situations where the need for urgent delivery arises or is required. The newly renovated private delivery suites come with a single bed, attached bedroom with shower facilities, recliner-chair, and a telephone to keep anxious family members updated on your baby’s arrival. Each obstetric ward has a team of specially trained nurses, and lactation consultants are also available to familiarise new mothers with breastfeeding techniques.
Pssst! You can also opt for a dedicated obgyn specialist to see you through pregnancy and delivery, and enjoy extended clinic hours including evenings and weekends. If you prefer an experienced midwife to handle your pregnancy, you can opt for one as long as you are having a normal, low-risk pregnancy. The hospital’s physiotherapists provide antenatal/postnatal care and conduct antenatal classes, aqua fitness for pregnancy, pre- and postnatal fitball, and baby massage classes. If you are staying in the single ward, a sofa bed is provided at no extra charge.
