Water blister eczema

I have eczema that just started from early this year.
I have seen 2 doctors, the 1st one said fungal and the last one said is pompholyx eczema.
Mine will have blisters and also scaly skin, cracked and bleeding.
However, I think my eczema is mild as only 1 toe and 1 thumb affected.

Hi
my pompholyx eczema started with one toe n one finger since jan but has now flared to all feet n fingers soles and palms. it could be my mismanaged. how do you control it from not spreading? what are the names of steroid u use orally n topically? what moisturisers and do u wash with potassium permanganate the purple color wash?
do u see tcm or which skin doc u goto?

Hi i am not sure which kind of ezcema i have. not even told my doc (even NSC). went NSC not improving at all. yes, i have water blister, scaly skin, when it cracks, i get bleeding. spread until my whole body.. until i went to see a tcm, my mil went to see her for her sensitive skin. after taking her medicine, i am much more better. not 100% cure, but was from whole body of rough skin till now left with both palms. i still get water blisters, scaly & cracks. i have been with tcm for 3 mths.
i would think TCM is better than just keep applying the steroid creams..
i can give you the contact if you want. pm me.
not easy to find a doc which can cure.. this is the 2nd TCM that i visits. am glad she can help to improve my skin.

Hi! I had e rashes when I in my 2nd pregnancy. The blister are found at the joints area. Doctor said is due to homo change. I took me one month to recovery

Pooh, you are lucky already. I had bad outbreaks on the face, hard cysts-like pimples due to homo changes. My hubby has ezcema on his hands and is using this new cream, Natzema. Seems to be better and safer around the kids also.

where to get Natzema n how much? how often u hv water blister outbreak every 3 weeks? i notice the outbreak is quite near or during menses time? how long hv u been having it? is there anyway to manage or treat hormone to stop water blister? which doc u see who says it is due to hormone? i wonder how come the nat skin ctr doc say don't know what causes it? i feel like to change to your doc..do you eat oral steroid prednisolone or dhasolone during the outbreak?

please share with us. thanks

Hi
Came across this thread..
I used to have such water blister ezcema when i was in my teens. And i had completely cured it..well it has not come back again..touchwood...but just sharing, i didn't take any medications at all. What happened was that i realised that when ever i came into contact with Chinese 'tie ta' some kind of herbal medicated oilment or creams containing linolin such as Nivea cream in metal box kind, my hands esp the palm and fingers will of unbearable itch and then the blisters will form. And further scratching will even made it worse like they break and bleed. My suggestion is that it might be some external allergents the person might have gotten contact with. Try to pin point what kinds of allergents which might have trigger that and from there avoid touching or come to contact with to minimize outbreaks. And meanwhile use linolin free soap to wash plus if itchy try holding a warm or very cold cup. It will relief some itchyness..lastly try the national skin centre to find out more if you are in fact allergic to certain ingredients used in everyday products..
Hope this helps &good luck..

hi chris
how many years did u suffer from water blister eczema continuosly? what are the brands of linolin free? do u still moisturise keenly on daily to prevent and what brand to use? pls advise.

babakba
i suffered in my early teens say about 2-3 years? then a small breakout in my early twenties when i unknowingly used some body creams. I think you can get from pharmacy, 'cetaphil' brands..from skin cleanser to lotion etc..but to be sure but i normally read the ingredients section of bottles before buying. And try to use rubber gloves when washing up dishes after meals cos those might trigger as well. Actually for many years i did not use any moisturizers at all, as it was difficult to get linolin free ones and back then in my early teen i was not too knowledgeable about such stuffs. Another brand is QV you can try also linolin, perfum free. You can get such at pharmancies. I usually let them dry off, don't scratch, (know it's very very very difficult) I tried to poke them or slap my palms (it's really extreme itch!) then also tried ice cubes on them hold ice cubes to make them numb but then when they are dried and leave off a dry crust then you apply the creams. I noticed that if i accidentally broken the blisters in an attempt to scratch the itch, more blisters will form! Well that's my case, don't know about you but thus, well try not to scratch them..try your best!

Hi babakba,

Not sure if i have the same issue as you but kinda similar.. I understand how frustrating it is.. I first had these little bubble-like blisters appearing at my thumb 3 yrs ago.. It got worse quite quickly, skin at top of thumb got all scaly and crackly and my nail started separating from the nail bed.. Not long after, affected index finger.. Saw 2 pte skin specialists who diagnosed it as eczema but the topical meds did not help at all.. Got so frustrated cos another 2 fingers got affected too.. My nails were separating from the nail beds and my finger tips were painful and sometimes itchy.. Finally went to skin centre dr leow yung hian and he correctly diagnosed it as nail psoriasis.. He prescribed a lotion for me tp use on my nails and fingertips.. Did not give me oral meds as i'm still trying to conceive.. It did improve but very slowly..

In the meantime, i tried my best not to aggravate it.. I started to use gloves for any wet work, e.g., washing dishes, cutting food, cleaning house.. I used disposable vinyl gloves, can get for $6 plus for a box of 100.. I din wanna use those reusable rubber gloves cos i feel will tend to leave bacteria.. It did help.. I also used balneum intensive cream to prevent the skin from drying up and cracking.. Recently, i started taking this nutritional supplement milk Ensure Life cos i'm starting ivf in a few mths and it's supposed to be good.. After a mth of taking it faithfully, i suddenly noticed a dramatic improvement in my fingers and nails.. I was really surprised.. I read up on vitamins and minerals good for skin and nails and compared to what is in ensure life and realised they're all in there, so maybe it helped..I'm also not sure but will continue taking for now and hope my fingers and nails will recover soon..

hi min81,it sound similar. my nail bed n nail also has bubble that can be seen n starts to separate.did dr leow did any fingrrnail scrape test to rightly diagnose as nail psoriasis? does the separated nail bed stick back to its flesh after apply the medicine? do u still see him?

hi chris, thanks for sharing. it is so itchy n i will nowadays pierce n break up the white skin before it forms up as water blister. the first outbreak,i didn't pierce the white skin n it grew a very large blisters that i can't walk on my feet nor hold with my fingers or palms. now,
once i pierce the white overlay skin,i quickly dash with antiseptic or antibiotic cream.

these water blisters has also trigger redness on my leg n body with itchy red eczema skin. anyone of u have this too? i feel tired apply large area with steroid cream everyday since jan oredi 10mths non stop.

Babakba,

Sounds really similar.. I had gone to this gp who had helped my mum for her ingrowth nails.. When she saw my nails, she said looks quite serious and immediately referred me directly to dr leow at nsc, told me that he's very gd at helping with such issues..

He did a nail culture to eliminate the possibility of any fungal issues.. After that was diagnosed as nail psoriasis.. I went to read up and realised i had many classic symptoms.. Do u have those little 'pits' on ur nails? The lotion he gave was the watery kind so it can seep under the nails.. It's quite impossible to apply cream under the nails.. As the nails grew out, they were stronger and are connected to nail bed.. Out of the 4 nails, 3 of them have grown out well, connected to the nail bed all the way to the top.. But betw the whitish and pinkish part still got the 'wavy look' so not totally recovered..

Maybe u would like to see dr leow? Yours sound serious and i know how terrible it feels..

hi min, did he give u dermasone watery type in bottle form? i may wan to switch to him. the prof i am seeing is so kiasi and refuse to give me oral steroid for the second timr. the first time steroid only for 9days and all flare up on the next dsy immediately. oral steroid not long enuf to suppress my cond

Yeah babakba, go see that doc min recommended asap as yours seems pretty serious and i feel for you..the intense itch and all..

Babakba,

Yup i'm using dermasone lotion now.. But before that was another small bottle one which helped to improve the condition faster.. I stopped that one cos although not proven to harm pregnancy, but history not long enough to prove safe for pregnancy.. I let u know the name when i check it at home later.. He mentioned there's this oral med, but very strong and i cannot try to conceive for 2 yrs after stopping it so he said i can't take..

Take care k.. Use gloves, will prevent aggravation, and trim ur nails short..

hi min,the medicine he suggested to you is not steroid but anti-cancer medicine call mtx (methetroxate) to cure psoriasis and eczema of chronic condition.

this prof goh at nat skin ctr also suggest that i should take this but must do periodic liver test n ultrasound. i know of mtx side effect cos i had it to kill my ectopic pregnancy cells last time.

i will ask to change to dr leow after coming tue visit with prof goh. too costly under prof goh for almost same type of treatment. dr leow more friendly cos he seen my mum before (20yrs ago) although he may not be so experienced back then..my mum didn't continue with him back then.

may i ask how do you get rid of the dead n flaky skin after each flare up? do we need to peel off the skin after moisturiser?

Babakba,

Ohh i see.. Actually he nvr suggested it.. I kept pestering him if got an oral med that can speed up.. Then he told me abt that and said no point telling me earlier cos he knows i'm trying very hard for bb.. Guess i have no choice but to rely on the lotion..

Ya dr leow very friendly.. I think is senior consultant, consultation abt $67..

I try not to aggravate the skin leh.. Let it flake off by itself.. I dunno whether u also have this thick dead skin build-up under the sides of the nails which cause the nail to distort.. I trimmed the nail short short and tried to poke them out.. But i think docs will say don't do that lor..

hi min,i keep peeling the dead skin n it keeps regenerate very fast. like yours on the finger nails. my soles hv very thick skin that i keep scratch with plastic gloves to peel. maybe this is the mistake that i can't recover.

i hv been going to nat skin ctr on each doc visit to pay for the nurse service to scrape dead skin from my soles and toes.

Babakba,

Oh dear.. Sounds bad ah.. I know it's really tough.. I know it's a long shot, but u wanna try ensure life milk?? I just take it as drinking milk instead of milo.. I took it for ttc reasons but in the process realised it helped my skin and nails to heal.. When i showed my hubby the improvement, he was so surprised too.. Maybe cos we don't take in enough of those vitamins and minerals thru our daily diet..

preity vincent,
i jus order Natzema. does your hubby applies it daily on his redden skin even when the red skin has cleared? does he has any flaky eczema?

Babakba,

U can find ensure milk easily at supermarkets.. I compared the price, all the same.. Small tin 16.80, big tin 34.40.. It's placed together with the milk powder for adults like anlene and omega.. I follow recommended amt, 6 scoops to 200 ml cool/cold water.. I take 1 cup daily.. Hope it wks for u and u get better soon..

hi xiaochu,u mentioned above u have pompholyx on a toe. may i ask do you wear cotton socks or nylon stockings or without on an open shoe or close pump shoe? I still have not step out from my home since may and i have now phobia what to wear to go out. i need to go bk to workforce by next year jan? do you moisturise your toe every morning before go to work? please share with me especially how do you handle your toe when it blister, scaly and bleed.

hi min
i hv jus started ensure life for 5days. yet to know about skin as i hv to take oral steroid for a week because of bad flare up on my body of all red eczema, besides hand n feet of the peely skin from water blister

observation as now, stool very good n smooth better than to take other probiotic alone. hope with the gut system back to normal my skin cond will recover too.

hi preity vincent,i just open to have a first dash of natzema on my cracked palm. it stings for a while on the wound but after that ok. i like the feeling of natzema on my skin. not greasy as compared to other brands of moisturiser. natzema contains essential oil n plants and can be used as moisturiser as i hv checked with distributor.but definitely too costly for us to use as moisturiser lor..

Babakba,

It's gd to hear that u've experienced something good out of taking ensure.. It'll take time for skin to show improvement.. I also haven't fully recovered yet.. Hope we both can recover soon..

How much is natzema? Sounds good.. Good moisturiser is very impt for us who have eczema..

natzema facebook is selling in oct promotion at $61. i just applied my first dash of the cream, yet to know its effect..but fingers seems smooth for me to clench them..but not sure how long its cream or moisture can last in the skin layer. find it better than atopiclair at first application.

hi all,

me too hve water blister eczema on hands....and it was damm itchy... went to c my family doc but seems no help..been liz tiz for 2 yrs... oni recover when on med but will flare up again....haiz sick of it...

hi
we so pitiful. water blister type is worse than the dry red eczema. how many times of oral steroid u take in a year? read somewhere can only up to 3x oral steroid a year. each time u take how many days of tapering down oral steroid do gives u? mine only for 6days where got strong enough to suppress it?!!

hi min
the dead skin from my soles seem to drop off bit by bit nicely but i don't know is it the help of oral steroid i am currently taking or the natzema cream help alone? so,if u buy natzema must prepare not to give yourself full hope. however i am likely to order another tube online because skin feels good with its texture vs other moisturisers i am currently using ( which are super greasy that make me feel so irritated(

Mother of 3 princess, babakba,

Ya others really dunno how we feel.. Only ask why nails like that and look at me like thinking it's contagious.. Only we know the pain and frustration..

Babakba,

I haven't bought yet.. Sounds pricy, will finish my balneum and see how.. U know ah, my nails n the skin ard it had improved greatly with ensure.. During that period of time, i had stopped the lotion cos just had laparoscopy and was tired and lazy.. So recently i used again and after few days, the skin started peeling so much! Wondering if the lotion is now too strong since recovering.. Will stop for now n see how..

min, dermasone is steroid n i applied it last time for nail eczema. i stop because it stings n keep rubbing with cetaphik moisturiser. my nail eczema recovered but a two years later (this jan onwards), i hv the worst water blister eczema type on feet hand and red dry eczema entire body.

i hv tried qv n rosken but does not help my current cond. thus, trying on the high range now although my purse string is too tight lor..

Babakba,

Ya it stings when there's broken skin.. So i stop for now.. I also don't like those greasy moisturiser cos i perspire very easily and the stickiness makes me very uncomfortable.. Recently i tried bio oil on small areas and it seems to work quite well without greasiness.. A few yrs back, after i recovered from another bad flare of eczema on my legs, i opted to go for laser hair removal.. Cos i felt there's a lot of irritation at the hair follicles.. Have been gd since then.. Have u ever asked the doc is it anything to do with diet? Can we improve it following certain diet..

hi min, no leh..din ask doc on diet wise? did your doc said anything to do with diet? i also think greasiness from moisturiser will affect our emotion. i can't sleep well with qv cream on my body every night..this has stir up my eczema in a way..

Mother og 3princess and Chris,
my water blisters flare again on all my fingers palms soles and ball of my foot. oral steroid not strong n long enuf ti suppress my immunity. 2days after finish course flare again. i thot i could recover cos my skin was very baby soft..the next morning all big blisters flare. very hurtful.

Babakba,

Oh dear, looks like u gotta ask the doc for something stronger..
When are u seeing the doc?

min,
going to see doc in a mth's time. doc oredi say not going to give me oral steroid again..

mother of 3princess,how often is your blisters flare- is it every 2-3weeks even now? do u cont to rub moisturiser on tge blisters or apply steroid cream on them or leave the blisters to burst by itself? please share how do u manage them ..hate it cos so diff to use fiingers to hold soap to wash my face. what more,on the soles are so irritating..has been bandage with sterile gauze to protect feet n prevent fluid smear on floor.

Can try Dr Rosalind Khoo, mount elizabeth #12-05. She is really good, but expensive. Consultation plus medicine for me is around 300. i suffer from really bad eczema, esp during pregnancy. She cured it!

Hi babkba, mother of 3 princess,

My 3 year old son used to have ezma on his neck area for nearly 2 years, seen PDs, nsc, applied lots of cream but red & itchiness came back again after the flaky skin goes off.

I learnt from a friend who has a 6 years old kid having skin ezma problem but recover after putting her boy on supplement to detox. I have done the same on my boy but reduced dosage. Within one month, my boy's skin stop itchy, no more red & flacky skin. He is no longer develop any skin redness or itchiness.

Hi babakba,

The supplement is by pharmanex, hav to combine a few to detox and cure Ezma. I stop giving my son the detox once I saw the result because he is still young. Now I only give him anti-oxidant juice to boost his immunization system.

hi yaoyaomum,i know which juice u refer now. i just sign up as member on my 2nd btl but my water blister still flares up leh..i don't know if i should persist to order the juice or not..did your son has flare up initially on taking the supplement to detox?

do u apply moisturiser on the blisters that is leaking fluid or put antibiotic cream instead? my blisters are currently very swell and leaking fluid. i don't know how to manage. please teach me
