Hi, just sharing this advice which I have given to my clients for last 15 years. Maybe some of you already know.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you need lots of calcium. Not only to supplement your body needs but also to enhance baby's skeletal development thru breast milk.
Problem is, calcium is the hardest mineral on earth. Many factors can affect the absorption rate by the body. Eg, the calcium tablet may contain "fillers" atau what they called "cement" to give the shape, and these extras may make it too dense. Or, the calcium tablet does not contain agents that help with the absorption eg vit D, magnisium and phosphorus. The proper combination for calcium tablet should contain all these extras. And as food taken into the body has specific period for metabolism, anything that takes longer to process would be dispelled from the body, treated as waste product.
I usually give this simple test for my client to follow. Use a cup of room temperature water, even tap water, just put a tablet inside and observe. Notice the effervescent and tablet start to disintegrate slowly. Time the period it takes to dissolve in the water. simple.
hope this help.
