Pre-natal Supplements

Hi all mummies and ttc mummies-to-be.

I googled and realised lots of supplements and competitive brands in the market for pre-natal and also to prep our body for pregnancy.

Would like to purchase however too many to choose from.
Anyone can share what kind of supplements are you currently taking? And what brand is good?

Many thanks.

Where do you buy your blackmore products? Local? Or can order from overseas cheaper?

Thought of getting some of their other products like Omega 3 and co-enzyme Q10

I ordered my from a qoo10 seller. But the pax said its OOS currently. Will replenish stock in Oct/Nov. U can also get Blackmore stuff from Watson, Guardian etc. They do have sales periodically...

The supplements I am currently taking is prescribed by Professor Choolani, as he finds that my Natural killer cells a bit high, and blood a bit sticky but is caused by changes in one of the genes, so to prepare me for pregnancy, he has prescribed me with 100 mg aspirin (will take this when ttc next month), 2,000 units of vitamin D and 149 mg of calcium tablets as I am very low in vitamin D, and 2x folic acid per day (5mg in the morning, and 5 at night).

The vitamin D he gave me can only be bought from the pharmacy.

Hi tryingtoconceive2014,

Your doc seems to be very detailed in your supplements prescription. How do u ask for such comprehensive tests? As what i know, normal ivf screening tests are quite general. Btw, your doctor is from which hospital?

Hi hearty15,

Actually, as I suffered multiple miscarriages (including 3 chemical pregnancies, in fact this mid-June's miscarriage was my 6th one) within a time span of 3.5 years, my gynae. Dr Loh SF from TMC (Thomson Medical Centre) referred me to see Professor Choolani, as he cannot understand why I can bfp easily, but always lose it in my first trimester, never made it past 8 weeks.

For your info, Professor Choolani specialises in recurrent miscarriages, so unless you have problem trying to stay pregnant, he won't see you. He is also a high-risk pregnancy gynae. So the tests he conducted will be very comprehensive one. He currently is with Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, their specialist centre; I know that he sees patients 2 days in NUH too, on Thursday, and Sat.

Hope my information helps.

Im taking Vitamin Code Raw Prenatals which so far has been good because it doesn't cause irritation to my stomach. It has probiotics and ginger too. I've taken it for several months from before my IVF.

Hi hearty15,

Thanks. Much appreciated your prayers for me.

At least under Professor Choolani, I know that I am in good hands; and so am kind of looking forward to my next BFP. If not, I do not think I will want to try again.
