November 2017 Mummies

by the way, is it normal to be prescribed with progesterone hormone pills from gynae?
I went for my first visit last week at 5+ weeks and gynae gave me the hormone pills.. wondering any experienced mums know if its normal?
I was prescribed that for my previous pregnancy cos I had miscarriage before. Doc said that was to stabilise my pregnancy.

Hi mummies, im a first time mummy. Any advice on what should i do if i'm having slight fever 37.5 now at 6 weeks? Dont really dare to take any meds
Hi Valerie, 37.5 is very mild fever. I think just sponge yourself with cool water and monitor your temperature. Anyway it's common for pregnant woman to have a slightly higher temperature. My temperature is hovering between 37.3 and 374 but I'm not feverish. I know coz my toddler is sick, every time I want to measure her temperature I have to measure my own temperature then she will let me measure.

Hi Valerie,

Progesterone pills are given if there is spotting or risk of miscarriage. The usual meds that we get on first visit is folic acid, calcium pills.

Hi ngappy,

If your wife has miscarried before, it would be good to get an early appointment with gynae. There are hormone pills that can be prescribed to stabilize the pregnancy. Hope it goes well with you!

Hi all. If anyone else know the good doctor recommendation for me at Gleneagles Medical Centre? Because 32 specialist gynaes are listed on website, furthermore this is my first time gynae. That's why If you have any recommendations, please share with me. My concern is costwise. I won't mind to go other places. Thank you.

1st time mommy. Expected delivery end Oct. Went to see the gynae last week for the 1st time as I was expecting some business trip this week. Gynae noticed some blood from ultrasound, and suspected I exercised too hard earlier, which I did. Got hormone pills, and cancelled all my business trips

btw I am seeing Dr Chua Young at Mt A because I could not book an appt with the gynae I was recommended. Any one know how she is?

Hi parents,

Guess I'm joining the club... Haven't called my obgyn yet as I'm kind of trying to process it even though this is my #2

@Yurih I speak Japanese and I'm currently working with Japanese people in my job so let me know if you need any help.

How about testing? Mine was supposed to be due this Friday and so far both my test kits say positive. Spotting usually means it's a bit unstable, did you exert yourself physically?

Test and let your heart be light :) then you can decide what to do.

Welcome to the club! I missed those days when I conceived #1. Wahaha. Now with #2 I'm just thinking about logistics and all the practical things.

kokomi142, based on your experience, usually on which week week should we schedule for first scan? its my first pregnancy and I'm trying not to put any high hopes yet.

Hi ladies, I was tested pregnant yesterday in KKH on blood test, I am due for my 1st scan next friday, thats another 2 weeks wait. I am a first time mom. Do you guys have any recommendation for gynae in KKH? :) I am happy to join the WA group if it is set up. :)

hi all, i just got a positive pregnancy test yesterday! according to the fertility friend app, i ovulated on 26 Feb, which would make me about 2 weeks along (16DPO). when should i schedule an appointment with the doctor? the problem is that i'm temporarily based overseas for work and will only be back in Singapore in May! i saw another post earlier where someone said no point going before 7 weeks??? so should i have an appointment before i return to Singapore, just to check on things, or wait til i go back?

I scheduled my first visit at the end of my 7th week! I heard that unless you have spotting or previous m/c experiences, there is no need to go gynae cause the doctor will not be able to test or scan anything other than to confirm the pregnancy. Unless if you want to do a blood test or something to check HCG level? Haha I also very new so must see what the experienced mothers say! Congrats btw!!! :D

Keen on what's app group too :)
I'm keen on WhatsApp group too .. anybody can add me in ?? I jz tested positive on 10th march . Haven't schedule any gynae appointment as I'm in oversea. Found light spotting for 3 days.. makes me very worried. This is My first pregnancy

I'm having the same question. I tested positive and on clear blue pregnancy Kit it says I'm 3 weeks plus (that's the max it can show) I suspect I'm 5 weeks and suffering from nasty gags and giddy spell. Today was quite bad.

Can't eat well too. I'm excited yet anxious, when is the time that we should check at the gyne? When should I decide what gyne to use? Or should I just go for a generic scan first?

You can call the clinic and the nurses will ask you for your last menstrual date and schedule accordingly :) usually around week 6 or 7, unless you have other medical history. Before that the fetus is too small.

Some people shop for an obgyn while others just try one and stick to it as long as they feel comfortable. It's up to you but private obgyn have appointment packages that start from week 20 usually. So once you decide on that you shouldn't switch :)

Maybe you can get a scan done at your current location? Then call a SG obgyn and schedule an appointment due in May?

I think we are all cautious in the early days :) that's why I am not joining any Facebook or WhatsApp group until it's stable. Would like to keep some privacy at this stage

Just call and the nurses will know when to schedule your appointment

@mitch131460, I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps give your gynae a call. I believe at 3 weeks, they can do blood tests to determine HCG levels.

@kokomi142 Thank you so much. I don't know why i cannot send you over message as PM. anyway if anything happen, i try to reach you again.

@xueyu Thank you for advising me. later i make a phone call to the clinic.

Prayer to you. Hope nothing serious and gynae have some remedy for you.

anyone care to share which gynae you use? I previously used Irene chua but she seems really busy this round and also had bad review since 2016 I am thinking twice to go to her.

Mind sharing what happened?

I'm probably going back to Doctor Choo Wan Ling, as long as she can accept me haha. She delivered my #1 2 years ago and I like her fuss free style. She was at Gleneagles, now she's at Mount Elizabeth Novena.

Hi mummies, I'm currently in my 6 weeks and I'm feeling sleepy and tired all the time.. Totally no mood for work! My nausea is also getting worse too.. Any advice to overcome the fatigue and nausea? :/

I also sleepy and tired all the time. Try eating some plain cracker it helps me curb the nausea sometimes.

I can't do much about the fatigue and I just give in to it. On bed all day feeling tired.

For me I've been eating little snacks like nuts to get an energy boost

Have been feeling super tired too... feeling bloated and cannot eat much, but yet hungry all the time... to be honest, i am not sure what my stomach is feeling anymore...

I drink ginger tea... it seems to help with the queasiness..
