Nov 2018 Mummies

Hi mummies, is it necessary to go to polyclinic to do blood test to confirm pregnancy? I had tested positive on Watson’s and clearblue test strips. Thanks!
Poly only give you another urine test (beta hcg level) then give you referral letter to KK (subsidies clinic-each visit different doctors and probably not consultant and above). If you want your own private specialist, you can start researching.

Oh ya and prescribe you folic acid (important for baby bone growth i think) you can get this anywhere in watson/guardian. For 4 weeks.

Hello. Congrats to all moms to be!

Hi all
Am just tested positive today
Second time mum but still very nervous and lost

In the past I mc before so i am quite scared

And my first born has hyperactivity so I am also worried that i can't manage this pregnancy

Hello! Nice to find some answers and support here for a first-time! May i ask for the mums who intend to see docs later maybe wk6-8, is it necessary to start ourselves with multivits or folic acid?? Heard that some people have already started even pre-preg, so just wondering if any mums can share their experiences on that:)

Yes u should get started on folic acid atleast! dont need to wait for Wk6 scan

Hi, am actually quite excited to share the good news here too cuz i can't share it out to everyone yet. !! I bantang a bit haha.
Am 6 weeks this week, going to see my gyane Yvonne Chan at TMC coming Wednesday. So excited cuz i will be the mummy of 4 soon!
Wanted to see Yvonne Chan as soon as i missed period & tested positive but clinic suggested to wait till this week. She is my gynae for all my kids :)

Hi Eury Wee! Nice to see another mommy of 4! I'm also under Yvonne Chan. Love her to bits. She took care of all my high risk pregnancy after my MC when I was with another gynae. One look at my scan she can tell and take precaution. Feels very secure having her along the journey! Knowing my history, she had me go to the clinic for a hormone jab and start on duphaston before the standard 6 weeks scan. Hehe yes I am also abit bantang so this is a good place to meet fellow mommies!

Hello fellow nov18 mommies, take it slow and easy! I'm probably the last to "fall in" with a EDD on 30 Nov. Silly me actually followed this flo app and calculated wrongly with EDD 8Dec! Haha... then I wonder why there is no Dec2018 group yet. Hope to see all on WA soon!

Probably or not sure if too early for Nov'18 edd mummies.

Just tested positive this morning and waiting for around 3rd week of March for first gynae visit.

2nd time mum here.

Come say Hi! if there's other Nov'18 mummies.
Hi! First time mummy here too! My first baby! EDD Nov

Hi, just tested positive and it was a complete surprise. Cos didn't have any menses ever since my first pregnancy. Can someone add me to the WA group?

Second time mummy
Number one is 2.5 now.
Co-sleeping since birth and no way my number 1 wants to leave the room. I have transited her from baby cot to a single mattress on the floor.
When number 2 arrives, we will just add the bedside baby cot in.

So the sleeping arrangement will become single size mattress, queen size bed and baby cot.

Hi everyone.

Second time mum here... since the first at nearly 6 years ago. No word can describe how excited i am now.
Went to gp to double confirm this morning. I teared upon doctor congratulating me. hahaha.. abit drama la.

My first was Dr Sim at TMC. Now I would prefer MEH or Mt. E novena, any?

Lastly, i want to join WA group!

Hi ladies, is it normal to just be prescribed with folic acid during first trimester? I have a friend who was prescribed with a lot more vitamins like duphaston & dhaxtra forte during her first trimester. Should I be worried that I’m only given folic acid? Is that normal?

Hi duphaston is not a vitamin - it's actually a hormone (progesterone) which body also produces to support the pregnancy. Doctors prescribe this for those at high risk eg spotting etc. If you dont have issues generally docs dont give unless you request for it. Side effects could be it can increase nausea etc.

I requested for it cos I have spotting. So dutifully eating it but i only take one tablet a day as nausea is very bad as it is.

I was given folic acid only as well. Doctor didn't see the need for multivitamins yet. His thinking was it will slow down digestion even more (my digestion is super bad now with bloated tummy and nausea). My previous gynae was of different thought - he made me eat calcium and vitamins right from start.

Guess second time mummy (older! and more nausea) so I didn't take the multivitamins but if you would like to can ask doc or buy from pharmacies.

I have tried to emulate french parenting style i.e shift my toddler at 2 years old to sleep in separate room with helper.

So far not very successful...in the end mama or papa will end up sleeping with him in his room. Good thing is that he wants to sleep in his own room and not ours. Guess got to persevere.

This is my first time pregnant.
I went for my first appointment at KKH under polyclinic referral, 8.8 weeks pregnant now and i saw baby heartbeat during ultrasound scanning, so excited. Due date will be early Nov, still have no idea what to do or what to prepare. Was given folic acid and multivitamin until next visit on end of April.

Usually how much we spend for routine checkup or visit to doctor? Is KKH under subsidies scheme ok for first time pregnant?
Any recommendations for private doctor?

Subsidies scheme is ok only if you don’t mind seeing a different doctor each time and sometimes it is only midwives who would be talking to you.
You do save quite a bit

I think is really up to your comfort level and budget.

Private doctors is mainly from recommendations from friends and for you to decide after seeing them.
Personally I feel is your rapport with the doctor, what birth plan you want and if your doctor will also respect your decisions (of cos with his professional recommendations too)

I see! Thanks for the clarification. Really appreciate it. First time mum here so I’m quite clueless :)

Hello November Mummies,
I am currently 8weeks along. Expecting to meet my second little one on 15 Nov this year please add me to the WhatsApp group.

Just had third appointment. Doc has asked me to consider csv test cos of my age. Harmony or paranoma tests not 100% on all chromosomes and not suitable for older mummies.

Decided to bravely go for it. Will be going for the poke (placenta not the amniotic sac) two weeks later. Praying all will b well.

Hi may I know who I have to contact to join the WA grp..?? Please do add me as well.

Also any mummies who have had MC before this? Are u on any hormones pills? If so how is it going on for u? Had uti a week back. Been cramping bad and saw some signs of blood. Went emergency and They increased my pills to thrice. Hoping everything will go smoothly. Just needed to pour my heart out.
