IVF with Dr L C Cheng

The fertility centre just informed me this morning, all IVF will be using ICSI, no longer using the conventional way with the dish.

How about yours?

The conventional method is on the left is no longer used. The right is the ICSI. Now all using ICSI no method whether the male has problem or not.

Are both your pregnancies girls or boys?

Ic ... its natural fertilization vs isic.
Natural fertilization may not work for guys with poor sperm quality so perhaps they are removing natural fert and doing all isic. But of coz isic cost more $ and its dependent on the skills of the embryologist too.

Both pregnancies are boys :)

They said ICSI increase the ferltilizatuon rate.
Irene is the nurse and Tan Yan Leng the embryologist who spoke to me

Both of them are very nice and give me a lot of information.

What is an electric brewer? Where to get one? I may need to change tcm if the medication don't suit me.

Ur tcm should be able to adjust the herbs to suit ur body's constitution.

Nope ... thats my tcm electric brewer.
We r not suppose to use stainless steel pots to brew.

There are a few tcm herb shops at chinatown blk34 upper cross street . You should be able to get this pot there.

Dr tan ks is changing from powdered to brew herbs for you ?
 
Hi, what is the price for ivf with Dr L C Cheng? Is it much expensive than public hospial(kkh,sgh,nuh)? I know the price is different with different medicine. How about other item price except medicine? For example, monitor before ER, ER, ICSI,ETetc.

Nope i stopped all the rest of the supplements except folic acid and conceive well during stimulation as i wasnt sure if the supplements would conflict with the stims. Only concentrate on protein based diet after my 1st scan cos i got many follicles ...

Nope. I was too heaty, thought may need to change to your TCM Dr. But I think did some adjustment. Now I am feeling fine.

I also realized that i feel more alert when I take CoQ10.

Sorry for the late reply. I do not know the charges for Public Hospital. Dr Cheng is the first IVF specialist that I have seen. I have not started the IVF treatment yet, so I do not know his charges for his medication. But I think he is expensive according to the comments from other forum.

He is using Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre. In the IVF booklet, it shows 14K for Occyte Retrieval, Embyro transfer. Post Embryo Transfer, with many exclusion.

Ist 3 cycle can use medisave, $6000, $5000, $4000.

DKCH, am current seeing dr adrian tan from ACJ Women’s Clinic at TMC. Its perfectly normal to feel excited/anxious during ur first stimulation because of uncertainties. Try to relax and dont keep thinking about ur body’s response etc ...

by the way, there is a 20% discount if they only retrieve 6 eggs and below.
What is the difference between Embryo culture and Blastocyst culture?

Yes i did briefly mentioned to him that i was on supplements. blastocysts culture would mean that the lab will culture ur embryos till they reach blastocysts stage by day 5 or day6 post Egg retrieval - depending on the growth of the embryos.

I didnt know about the 20% discount...as i always extracted many follicles :(

Oh i did not ask these details during my time. All i prayed for was having good grade blastocysts.

Probably embryo culture will be the costs to culture the embryos during the early stages of embryos development before the morula starts cavitating into early blastocysts... maybe u should ask MEFC to confirm.
 
Dkch, if my memory didn't fail me I claimed from medisave last yr throughout mefc last yr when I did 2 Stimulations cycles with them. Good to clarify with them in case there is a need to do double Stimulation cycles within a yr.

By the way for your diet which is protein based, how much carbo are you taking?
I am trying to eat more Milk,Eggs, Salmon, Spinach, Beef bone Marrow for stock....
Dr Cheng said to eat like grandma. But my grandma dont drink coffee. I limit myself 1 cup a day

Eat like granny ???

For my diet pre stims and for fet preparation, i still take carbo in the morning. Lunch i would usually take oats, flexaseeds/flexmeal with chia seeds. Dinner will be more in proteins (high fat fish, lean meat, eggs) , salad with a little carbo.

I cut out all caffeine while preparing for my IVF stims cycle, fet and even in pregnancy.

Only difference in my diet was after 1st scan during my stimulation where i had many follicles i progressively increase my proteins intake to 10egg whites per day till the day prior my egg retrieval. Otherwise, just maintain a protein rich diet will do.

MEFC advised me to take egg whites to relieve the bloating feeling during the simulations.

His morphology wasnt v good but dr cheng said was of no concern at all as all it takes is a good sperm to do make things happen.
However he was more concern on my age and egg quality then.

When to Virture Fertility talk. Its says relative contribution of Egg , Sperm and the Uterus to a success live Birth is

Oocyte 70%
Sperm 20%
Uterus 10%

These are just general statistics may deviate from couples to couples.

In most cases its the embryos quality which prohibits implantation or Embryo cant survive after implantation due to chromosomes abnormalities. But there BFNs despite transferring v good quality embryos and these are attributed to uterus environment, endometrium conditions or our body immunologic conditions.

Like myself i have thyroid issues / high antibodies and i also saw a rheumatologist who prior my FET through till my trimester 1 and now still followup closely for my thyroid condition. So there are other aspects which can lead to either a bfp or bfn.

Will the doctor advise when will be the OR?
Once you inject the hCG, 34 to 36 hours (that is 1.5 days) later will be the OR.
If the man need 3 days Abstinence, by the time the doctor ask to have the HCG injection, it will be too late for the man.

If you are younger than 40 you should try the public hospital as there is co payment scheme.
