Working wife
My twins also split out v often.. My big girl even throw out milk once.. V scary.. Like merlion.. Practically throw out the whole feed..
So i always burp them longer.. Dare not lay them down flat after feed... But still they can split out milk hrs later..

My twins v cranky lately.. I suspect they have colic cos keep farting.. And their tummy got this wind sound when i tap my fingers on it.. Somemore my small girl like having diaherea.. Watery greenish stools.. Gng to bring her see pd tml..

Yes my pd give me ridwind.. I been giving them.. I put it inside their milk.. I also give them gripe water once a day.. And apply ruyi oil many times a day.. It helps with the wind.. Cos after all these.. Can hear them passing gas often..

I totally dont have time to sleep during the day.. Busy feeding them.. Changing diaper.. Attending to their cries.. Shack mann..
When is yr cl leaving? Try to rest more when yr cl is still ard.. I nap every afternoon when my cl is ard.. But once she leave i have no time at all to nap! So enjoy while u can!
Who will help u after yr cl leave? Yr mother?

Several occasions im left with the twins alone.. Really cant handle.. Esp when they cry at the same time.. Cant feed or change diaper in peace when the other is crying..

Panda
Now im feeding my twins 3hrs apart.. 90ml.. U?
When they cry for milk 2 hrs later.. I will try to pacify them but if cant i will feed them 60ml... I also feed them water if they cry for milk in less than 2hrs..

Yr pd is right.. When bb is in deep sleep.. They wont cry for milk that soon... During the night.. My girls can sleep without milk for 5hrs... But during the day when they in light sleep.. They can get startle and wake up when there are sounds then start crying.. They are difficult to calm lately.. Pacifier dont work.. Carry also cry.. Then i feed them ridwind.. After a min or so they go quiet.. So amazing.. Like have instant
relief... Tried a few times and all worked!

Yr two mothers will be helping u permanently? Im trying to cope alone but seems difficult.. I hope to be independent and take care of my twins by myself when hb go work...still learning.. If the girls are not cranky.. Dont cry for no reason.. I might be able to handle.. But not when they keep on crying.. Can go crazy.. Last night my small girl keep crying non stop.. Pacifier and carry all no use.. My hb not hm yet.. My mum go sleep.. Im alone with my crying baby... And i cry with her.. Im totally helpless and heartpain to see her cry for so long..
Then my hb came bk.. And feed her ridwind.. After awhile she stop crying and sleep...

baby, my bbs never last longer than 2.5hrs leh.. average betw 2-2.5hrs need to feed..very tiring.. i m hoping it will get better soon.

the amts they take varies..but average the boys are taking 100-120ml per feed..n gal is taking 70-80ml. i hv not given them water yet. if they are hungry, i will feed milk. i m concern tht water will cause them to take lesser milk since it takes up space in their little stomach.

do u feed ur bbs in total darkness? i find it difficult to do tht...n i cant expect my mum n mil to do tht either... so maybe thts y my bbs dun really go into deep sleep w the frequent feeds.

my mum n mil wil b helping until the bbs turn 2 yrs old, then i wanna send all 3 to childcare..i plan to go back to work then.

i noticed most of the time when my bbs are cracky..its becoz they hv wind in the tummy...so i will just pick them up n burp them again.. usually they will release a loud burp or milk will spit out.. after tht they will stop crying.

my PD explained tht even when we burp bb after feeds...their tummy will still hv alot of air bubbles..which will continue to merge n become a big bubble to cause bb discomfort. only way to prevent the air bubbles from causing the discomfort is to put bb on tummy n slp for 1 hr.. after tht..just flip them over as per normal.

we only do tht during the day ... at night difficult coz hv to watch over them..

i can understand how u feel. i hv ever had to look aft 3 bbs on my own in my room coz my parents went home for a while..and my mil was in the kitchen busy cooking. when all 3 started crying, i dunno wht to do!

Pandawife ur boys have good appetite To take 100 to 120 ml for 2 to 2.5hrs. Do they also cry for milk at such interval when on fm? My gal also during the day cry for milk every 2 to 2.5hrs but the amt she drinks varies lately.

Btw u had ur full mth celebration today?=)

Working wife my gal sometime ask for milk within 1.5hrs from the starting time of the last feed. So far when
she cries for milk I will give her. I was assuming since she is
on ebm she cld be hungry faster. Never tried giving water
though.

Baby my gal was fussing during her 10 pm feed, crying very bad no matter how I pacify her also no use. She is finally settled down and now in her cot. And I have time to
Wash the bottled n pumps and stetilise them . Can't sleep now coz need to pump milk soon.

Girls ur babies got stuffy nose?? My gal seems to gave mucus in her nose and can hear her make snorting sound coz nose blocked. Has been like that for 2 weeks . I asked kkh PD on wed he said it's ok since she is still feeding well. Ask me dripped saline into the nose to clear the mucus. Do you clear Ur babies nose? How do u do that??9

gan, my boys cries for milk betw 2-2.5hrs regardless of whether ebm or fm... no difference it seems...

yup, had the full mth celebration yesterday. not much of celebration for me n hb..coz both of us spent the whole day in bb room, feeding, changing diapers and pacifying them! my mum, mil n dad were so busy entertaining their guests tht nobody helped us :S

i couldnt even hv a decent conversation w most of my frens... and obviously no time to eat..hehe.. but i was very happy that Angela made the time to drop by.

my bbs also hv stuffy nose..PD says its partly due to them getting used to the environment's air and also possibly temperature related at night. coz in the womb, its 37 degree..outside esp at night, temp could drop to 25degree... so the stuffy nose. he din even ask me to drip saline...i dun clear their nose leh..just let it "self cleanse"...:p

baby
Use cloth nappy material wrap that are big enough, must wrap them tight, don't think it will be warm. U turn on fan or aircon or not ?
Wrapping is suppose to emulate the womb envt that they are used too.

working wife
Your back is sore as your feeding position is not right. If u have proper back support, it will not be sore. How are u bfing ? Sitting up or lying down ? If u sit up, make sure the air pocket behind your back is supported, use a foot stool to prop your feet up so u feel comfortable. U can use a pillow to support baby.

Regarding bb feeding, its quite common to want to feed ocassionally in 1-1.5hrs after a feed. My bb is the same, what I do is try to drag the feed closer to feed time. My boy is quite predictable, I use the pacifier, if he doze off after giving the pacifier means he is not hungry. But when he is still hungry the pacifier will help him to self settle, but he will not be in deep sleep. So when its close enough to feed time, I just feed and he will just doze off after he had his fill. I don't feed baby water.

Gan
PD says bbs with sutffy nose is common. My bb also has it. Usually they will sneeze as a form of clearing the nose. But if I see snort, I just use a nose cleaner to suck out the snort.

Bubblybear I showed the PD the nose cleanser I bought and he asked me not to use that . He said if I want to clean drip saline into the nostrils. I tried and the next day saw the dried mucus near the nostrils which is easier to remove. I was concerned coz I m afraid she had difficulty to breathe properly.

Hang in there mummies,
All this wind in the tummies, spitting out milk, colic etc r part and parcel of bbs. It does not indicate that u're doing anything wrong. Bb will outgrow it themselves. You can't 'fix' it.
The best u can do is manage the symptoms until they outgrow.

I dun believe in training bb to feed on schedule at such a young age. I would only start training them after 3mths old. But of cos not all bbs can be trained. Like my elder girl could never drink more to last her 3hrs. Whether 2hr or 3hr interval she would drink the same amt. So if i drag the interval to 3hr means she's drinking less overall and on top of that, more wind accumulates in her tummy cos her tummy is too empty. So I end up feeding her 2 hrly.

Gan,
you can get this mucus suction thingie to suck out mucus from bb nose. or this plastic tweezers to pluck out the gunk from bbs nose.
i dun find the mucus suction useful but i like the tweezers. both from pigeon, can get at the regular bb sections in department store or kiddy palace.

the piegon suction nose cleaner also no good ? I was planning to buy that .. cos i saw the suction looks more like it will force air into the nose then pump it out

Ok noted .. I planning to use my kkh $100 credit at the pharmancy cos i noticed that their items are like few cents cheaper .. buy those small last min things at the pharmancy before going home

Grumpus, singapoh,

Good to know that all these things we're encountering are normal. Esp the colic crying... When it happens, I feel so desperate n heart pain. Then I will get so stressed. Hb must remind me to stay calm, getting stressed ourselves will not help the bb.

At what age should we clean their nose? Now they still seem so small.

Gan,
My bbs have stuffed nose too... Good to know it's normal.

Panda,
Where is yr pd? He sounds good... Explain a lot of things to u. My pd is quite good too but super crowded especially on sat. How much does yr pd charge for consultation?

My twin boy has been coughing since Oct. Even warded once because of wheezing. Been seeing PD very often coz his cough keeps returning. It's partly because my 3 year kept bringing bk virus from CC. It was very tiring for the past few months. My family member including myself took turn to fall sick, sometimes at the same time.

He was on inhaler for awhile. He got slightly better but never had a chance to recover fully. As for my gal, she falls sick too when she is back but quickly recover when she returns to my MIL.

Then my hb's colleague recommended a PD in Mount Alvernia. Dr Tan put him on nebulizer and we saw a big improvement. He is coughing 95% less now.

My 3 year old has quit full day CC. Now attending 3 hour nursery class in PCF kindy. He is much better and happier too. Always looking forward to go to school.

JJ I got the pigeon suction nose cleaner. But PD asked me not to use. Will check out the tweezer Grumpus mentioned.
I bot the breast pump using the $100 voucher.

Working wife, yes babies nose r so small that's why I didn't dare to clean myself. Actually kkh PD said can leave the blocked nose alone but if want to clean, drip saline. I surf net dripping saline will loosen the mucus/ dirt. I tried once and really see the dirt collected near the nostrils, I then use a tissue to slowly remove. U r staying in newton? My gf intro a PD at united square in the aglow clinic. I m thinking switching to the private PD . Pandawife PD sounds very good, wonder where is he located.

I think with aircon bb will have stuffy nose. I notice with aircon my newborn bb couldn't sleep well last time and will have this stuffy nose sound. I put my bb in room without aircon until 6 months old, on the fan but don't blow directly at them. Put on socks if have cold feet. I never suck out dirt from bb nose, just remove dirt that can be seen. Sometimes they will sneeze out the dirt themselves.

After 4/5 months, when bb able to turn their body and sleep on their side or tummy, they tend to sleep better.

Mummies do you still take calcium supplement? Recently my hubby got shoulder ache due to carrying of bb. So went KK pharmacy (elsewhere don't have) to buy this "Calcit Ultra" (Calcium Citrate, the best absorbed calcium) which was recommended by Gynae. After taking he said no more pain. So sometimes pain can be due to lack of calcium and minerals.

JJ, u cam get saline drip at guardian. But i don't find it effective.

Mothers, have u considered burning pure essential oils for cranky BBs, BBs who don't sleep well at night, stuffy nose, etc? Those kind you put a few droplets in the water over a flame. Though not all essential oils r suitable but they r some which are safe for BBs, such as lavender, jojoba, charamonile, rosemary oils, etc. They can help to prevent spread of germs in the air too if the adult is sick. U may wan to surf the net for more info or check with the PDs.

Also, there are tcm massages that are good for BBs. To promote better sleep at night & to relax them. Eg, Yu GUO at kembagan is very popular.. N is always crowded with BBs..

working wife, gan,

my PD is Ang Poon Liat at TMC. The same clinic has 2 PDs...they are bro n sis. Dr Ang is in his 60s, semi retirement mode. he only sees patients for half days from 9am - 1pm.

Sat is also mad house there, i usually get appts on wkday early mornings..not so bad.

he is very detailed in his explanation and patient to take questions. i usually go with a long list in a notebook. :p

the other thing i like abt him is he is very pro natural, will not prescribe medication unless necessary.

Today saw pd.. She say im overfeeding my bbs... I told her im feeding them 90ml every 3hrs.. She say its too much tats y they will split out milk and have wind in their stomach.. Overfeeding cause wind too...
Pd says bbs that young wont know when is full.. And we have to feed base on their weight... My small girl is 3.9kg.. Pd says should feed her 75ml only.. And their age is base on full term gestation... My bbs are born at 34wks plus.. Means they are only abt 2 weeks old instead of 2 months old...

Just now i feed my girl 60ml.. She is not satisfied.. Crying for more.. I feed her some water and give her pacifier.. Slowly she went to sleep...

Hi sisters: I wonder is anyone order from Little Dreamers for their Warming Bodywash and Shampoo or other product? Pls give your comment. Thanks

baby, my PD never mention about overfeeding when i told him how much my bbs are drinking. when i tried to ask him..he says the babies will know how much they wanna drink.....

when i try to feed my boys 90ml, they will fuss for more after feed..if dun giv more, they will not sleep.. but smtimes they only wanna take 70-80ml.... they are both 3.9 and 4kg each. one of them hv milk spitting problem, the other one doesnt.

Baby kkh PD taught me every kg 150ml
Eg if ur Bb 3 kg, 450ml if u feed every 3 hrs, each feed 450/8.
Actually based on this cal I m also overfeeding but dr never say anything.
Btw the similac fm has a fishy smell? I bot a tin of 400g and my gal only drank 20ml n reject the rest. I smell the milk, smell fishy leh

Baby,

Did PD ask u to give water? Bb so young dun need water coz their kidney is still not mature yet. There is enough water in fm and bm.

If base on weight, yr bb shud be drinking at least 390 ml a day, not sure abt max amount. I remember seeing a formula to calculate online. 1 kg = 100ml

baby,
use bb weight in lbs x 2.5oz.
that's the total they shd be drinking in a day. divide tat by the no. of feeds a day (usually 8) to get the amt per feed

so for yr girl weighing 3.9kg = 8.6lbs
8.6 x 2.5 = 21.5oz per day
21.5oz / 8 = 2.6oz per feed
2.6oz ~ 76ml

but actually these are all estimates. some bb drink more some drink less

Gan/grumpus
U gals are right.. This is the formula my pd give me.. 150ml x the weight.. And bb do not know how full they are.. Overfeeding will result in split milk and wind.. Maybe thats the reason why my bbs always split milk out..

Gan
Yes i also find similac has a fishy smell.. And the poo also v pungent.. But my girls are drinking ok.. Didnt reject the milk..
Maybe cos u just switch brand yr girl not used to it yet..

Baby just brought my gal to PD coz she is having eczma on her face. The doc said she has wind in her tummy. No wonder my gal fuss abit during feeds last 2 nights. PD asked me use ruyi oil.

hello mommies,
did you bathe during your confinement?
Also, did you use those herbal packs when you bathed?
happy.gif

Gan
I also brought my gal to see pd cos she has loose stools..
After giving my girls ridwind.. I can see the wind getting lesser.. Even pd says she dont hear wind in her tummy.. Pd says ridwind is very safe to use on bbs.. I also been giving my girls ruyi oil several times a day..

Pd says once bb show slow down in her drinking.. Can stop feeding.. The actual amt she wants to drink will show in her eagerness in her sucking.. Usually in the first 10-15mins.. If continue to force feed.. Will induce wind..

Singapoh
Pd says no need water but if heaty or what can give some water.. Its ok.. Unless u feed too much water and bb do not want to drink milk then will affect their growth..

Baby,
Your girls have loose stool often? They are taking Similac right? I've just switched to Similac for my twins this morning and both of them have loose stool today. The girl poo thrice while the boy twice. They were taking Mamex gold previously and both poo once everyday. Poo texture was quite good. I'm not sure whether Similac is not suitable for them. I heard that Similac tend to make some babies constipate but I'm wondering why my babies have loose stool instead of harder stool. How do your babies react to Similac?

Happyhippo my gal started with red patches on her face like pimples or heat rash. Then those on her eyebrow has yellowish discharge and feels rough when u touch n if u look carefully the area is a little dry not like the rest of the skin smooth and soft. PD asked me apply olive oil at the area.

Bing
Same here... My small girl have loose greenish stools when we switch her from nan to similac.. A few times a day Previously her stools are nice creamly yellow.. Once a day..
My big girl stools are semi hard when on nan.. When on similac hers is nice creamly yellow twice to thrice a day...

Similac according to my pd.. Will give soft stools or watey stools.. Similar to bf poo... If u read the tin.. It has a ingredient in it to give bb soft stools..

I brought my small girl to see pd for her loose stools.. She say its normal.. Say if we are not comfortable can change her fm...

Any reason why u change mamex to similac?

Ladies
Think the milk intake is just a guide. We don't really follow the calculation here, as long as bb put on an average between 100-200gm per wk and settles well, it is ok to feed more if bb wants. It is only a concern if they put on more than that amount. Also, boys tend to drink more than girls too. My boy takes 120/130ml per feed, base on the calculation, I am already overfeeding, but the nurse say its ok.

pink destiny
I take bath everyday in my supposedly confinement now, just use normal bath gel and shampoo.

How do u gals weight yr bbs? Cos normal weighing machine cant weigh... I can only know their weight during pd visit..

gan
tks for sharing. my boy's one is yellowish dry skin. can see that it will dry up and flake off. but it is the whole eyebrow, so very obvious. but we notice after some of the dry skin flakes off, it seem to occur again. so also not sure what.

hi mummies
i seem to feel tat everyday is just feed and change bb's diapers.. like no time to play and teach him thgs.. really not sure if i'm doing this rite.

Happyhippo from hr description is similar to my gal at the eyebrow, yellowish dry skin.... I think the yellowish skin is due to the dry up discharges? Maybe u try apply olive oil see if helps. I gave also ordered the california baby cream from bulk purchase. Read that the cream helps for eczema. I have such skin problem too.

Skies
I tried that but not very accurate le... If i try that a few times at one go.. The difference in weight always not the same one...

gan
wat a coincidence, i also got such skin problem leh..i was telling my hubby tat oh dear our boy has mummy bad genes ie the skin prob
sad.gif

but i didnt see any discharge leh, unless i missed it. i tot the yellowish was cause the herbal bath he takes.
which brand of olive oil do u use? do u think i can use the avent magic cream?
