in KKH, grading for embryos is 1 -5 at 5 being the best...

Grade 5 in kk is the best. But no guarantee for bfp. I trf a grade 5 and a grade 4 in my first fresh but ended in failure.
This round i have trf two grade 4. Only one stuck.

Blasto no more grading as cells hv divided too much.
Take the grading w a pinch of salt. It is graded based on how the embyro looks like. It does not mean a normal looking embyro is genetically good.
In kkivf, now under new management. Grade 3 and above r transferable grades. Grade 2 and below r discarded.

KKIVFC during briefing has a form that says to throw or keep low grading embryos for monitoring.. So it's not KKIVFC killing the life but the parents.. We chose to keep and monitor.. No throwing of embryos unless we approve it..
Ya.. Grading is just numbers.. But what I am happy is that I have more embryo to freeze this time.. Previously I have either 1 or none to freeze..
Just now after the transfer.. I didn't go home straight and rest.. I go to temple to pray and have lunch.. Hungry.. Not eaten breakfast.. I'm feeding myself with red dates tea now.. Enjoy and relax..

transfer done.. just now contemplating to put 3. I ask dr, if put 3 all all strike.. then it will be unhealthy for the triplets.. how? He said that we can choose to kill one of it.. immediately my heart tells me no...That is encouraging

U r right. I had a grade 2 this round. At first i tot they will discard too. But i found out on day 3 when i did my ET, they can continue to cultivate to day 5 and see what happens. Mine arrested and did not grow at all. Hence at day 5, they called to inform me before they dispose it.

It's my first fresh ivf and nuh asked me how many embryos I want to transfer. Max is 2 as I'm under 35 and it's my first ivf.. The nurse told me that 2 embryos may split and may result in triplets! Sounds scary.., I'll be more than happy with twins but I think triplets will be risky and complicated...
Do you recommend putting 1 or 2? Sigh I hope this one time will succeed and hope to improve my chance w 2 embryos but also scared become triplets or more. Anyone has statistics of putting 2 embryos and turned out multiple births?
I'm due to start my ivf end June. Now on bcp... When I was signing the paper work, I'm told to indicate how many embryos to transfer. Then the nurse gave me a pamphlet on eSET (elective single embryo transfer) to educate me on the risk of multiple births and why I should consider single embryo.
so I should ask my doc to decide for me? In my mind I want two embryos unless there is a high risk of triplets which I need doc to advise. I'm hoping to do some research and find statistics and not listen to doc blindly also.

hmmm.. I think you should listen to your doc. Dr will evaluate all the various factors and advice you. When I am in NUH.. I transfer 2... and as much as possible, NUH prefer to cultivate embryo to blast if the quality is good. Its really your own comfort level. I am not young anymore.... thus transferring 2 increase the chance of conceiving.

Guess I will listen to the doc... But the nurse like already persuading me to consider single embryo transfer when I haven start my ivf... Hopefully when i start my ivf treatment, it will become apparent whether it should be a single or two embryos transfer.

My doc recommend to put one first, since this is my first ivf and I'm still below 35, chance to get pregnant is higher. Have u done ivf before? If no, I think can try one first

Tinga, Transfer 2. Higher chance of pregnancy. Even if u strike twins, is ok, u can close shop after that. Chance of triplet due to embyro splitting is single digit percentage. If tt happens, is GOD's will.
Cant help but feel that u r with pte ivf hospital. A dr who wan to maximize ur chance of pregnancy will not ask u to transfer one.

My gd friend had a girl n boy fr first n 2nd fresh cycles despite transferring 3 and under 35 yrs old. Those were the days where anyone can transfer 3. She wanted a 3rd child when she was abt 40 yrs old. So her 3rd fresh cycle, she transferred 2 instead of 3 and freeze the rest. But 3rd fresh she strike a pair of twin girls! So instead of 3 kids, she has 4 kids!

I've never heard my ivf friends having docs encouraging them to transfer single embie. I guess if patients insist they don't want to risk multiples, then patients can ask for one. Having coming from the doc, this is first time I'm hearing. Tinga can enlighten why doc has to come to this recommendation? I mean if there's any other underlying issues? I think put one embie like lower the bfp chance a lot le.

not sure if portia3 is with kkivf, but i do feel kkivf lab give embryo most chance, even if it meant more work 4them with litte chance of successful cultivation...
but they r not very customer service focus. i hardly hear patients gettin calls from é lab, usually it's nurse queenie passin message. n 2knw smthg on é embryos we need 2press this mysterious bell on é wall near spermbank.. n wait.. but generally kudos 2é kkivf lab's team's effort..

The youngest ivf mummy i know was 28 yrs old. SHe transferred 2 in Fresh cycle but got one boy only. Not every blastocyst, will end up w bfp.
sorry, i still feel that the ivf dr is not acting in your best interest if is just based on ur age and the fact is ur transferring a blastocyst. I hv been in this forum for 5 yrs and knew many ivf mummies. Nv have i encounter one whose dr said transfer 1. If they transfer one, is out of no choice as no more embyro or the patient insisted.
I hv been telling dr loh n dr tan hh i dun wan to get multiples, they still insist i transfer 2! Well.. i nv strike more than 1 in my 3 pregnancies.

I rem a member of this forum recently said this :"God will never give u more than what u can deal with." I agree with it totally.
Like u, i love to have a pair of twins but would probably be overwhelm if i get more. It will be a happy problem if triplets hsppen. In the end, i trf 2 anyway, cos i believe He will decide and do what needs to be done for me. Now, i bfp with a singleton at 7 weeks.
Drs will advise u on the pros and cons of transfering one or two but will not decide for you. The decision is still yrs to make.

1) you are still young ( late 20s or eatly 30s);
2) dr is cultivating yr embbies to blastocysts
3) u do not hv other major reproductive issues (i.e all healthy, no endo, fibroid, cysts, sperm issue, etc.)
If the above are yes, then may be they think u chance of striking a pregnancy is high and hence the recimmendation.
I remember my dr was relief that only one of my emmbie stuck. I told my dr casually that it would be nice if i had twins. Dr quickly told me that it is actually gd that this is a singleton cos we will have more to worry about (higher risks) if its twins. I guess it is becos i am already 37.
To be honest, if i successfully carry this current one to full term, i will still transfer 2 or even 3 depending on the conditions of my thawed frosties for my next attempt. Cos i believe, God will not give me more than what i cannot deal with.

After seeing a couple of drs, I also think different docs have different advises and approach. But it is entirely up to individuals to weigh out the pros and cons before deciding for themselves.
Yes, i am with kkivf for both my cycles. The embryologists there are friendly. For this round, they called me on day 5 just to tell me the status of my grade 2 embbie which they cultivated at my request from day 3 to see if it does survive and develop to blastocyst. In fact, they called twice cos i missed their first call.
The embryologist was nice enough to give me a summarry of all my 21 eggs retrieved again even though it was done at day 3 when i did my trf.
She even told me the number if cells for each of the embbie frozen ( i have another 5 left for freezing after trf 2.) Imagine going into such details on the phone!

When u next go back to kkivf, just go and press the bell and ask if they can check yr records for u. They do keep a detail record for all eggs they retrieve and cultivate.

I can bear with the single digit risk of triplets and will opt for 2 embryos transfer if possible, unless doc insists otherwise.

I reacted well to gonal f when I tried iui so hopefully I can take gonal f again cos the pen is easy to inject.
Yar I also don't mind twins if can deliver safely and babies are healthy.
I googled and read that twins have much higher complications than singleton so I think I better over read too much. If not even more stressed...

Thanks for the articles!!! I'm 33 this year and accordingly to the doc, I don't have any major issues (even my pco is under control after Tcm). Will start ivf end June so not sure at which stage I'm transferring the embbies.

ER on Monday is considered day 0. So ET by Wed means u are at 2dt. (U had a 2 day transfer done.)
Thursday is 1 day after yr ET. So u are 1dp2dt then.
Today is Sunday. So u are at 4dp2dt.

Yes this is my fresh cycle , I skipped IUI as my reserve is low , AMH 4.5 so go straight for IVF , I know my medication during counselling with nurse . so u are now taking nor e for 14 days ,rt? According to nurse , I don't have to stim every day.one stim can last for 7 days.
