TCM view of infertility problem:
-Poor egg quality is due to Kidney Deficiency.
-Lack of eggs altogether is due to Jing Deficiency.
-Endometrium itself is deficient, it is due to Blood Deficiency.
-No ovulation, which can be caused by polycystic ovaries, it is due to Damp Phlegm and Blood Stasis.
 


Food increase your egg qulity:
barley, bran, brown rice, cheese, chicken, dates, green leafy vegetables,milk, mushrooms, oranges, split peas, root vegetables, salmon, tuna, wheat germ, whole grains, whole wheat, egg, fish
 
Hi Gals,

Can i check with you, when Dr Loh give Hospitalisation Leave, does it state IVF as reason or does it show come from kkhIVF?

And if we dont want our company to be checking on what we are doing at KKH, is it possible to tell KKH dont disclose?

Anyone know? Cos i need to decide whether i should come clean with my boss and if so, then i better do so now. Only left 1 week to ER.

Regarding soya products like soya bean drink and beancurd is it we shd avoid totally? My hubby n I quite like it and usually will take it two times in a week, not sure whether is it ok??
 
i also want to know too. donno how to tell my boss leh. if he know I apply HL for IVY, he might say "u come here to work or pregnant"

Better don't take. the journal say beancurd has some ingredient that no good for our fertility. i cannot remember "what ingredient" liao.
 
Ya lor, PL, same here. I scared tell my boss, later she tell me to postpone IVF. So i thinking hard whether to tell the truth. Also, i wont like it if she know then what if words start to go around then the whole company know i IVF le? But i scare she can find out just by ringing KKH herself too.

PL, the ingredient is a hormone similair to estrogen,it's the plant equivalent of estrogen.

reason why not good for men to take is that too much estrogen will decrease sperm production.

the above is what some schools of medicine believe, others say that plant estrogen has no effect on humans, unless in very huge huge amounts.
 
maple..i also want to know if the hopsitalisation leave can be extended...normally is 5 days but i want to extend to the whole 17 days of the 2www.

it will be easier to take hospitlisation leave rather than take own leave..as hospitalisation leave no need boss permision but own leave need boss approval.

is there anyone who has been successful in getting KKH to extend the hospitalisation leave?
 
Hi Ladies,
Seen dr today, will start Gonal F tmr so need to go back there again..... sigh! did my scan today, doc say 6 follicles on left and 3+2 on right, dont know what he mean 3+2 also. I think the follicles seem not enough leh, i start to worry also, hopefully i will react on Gonal F so can have more mature egg at the end of the days.

Dr predicted that my ER will be on 25th or 26th this mth, start to feel very kan jiong now.....
 
Just had my accupunture today @ AMK. It's alright, except that my right leg was twitching for about 20 minutes- feels wierd. She said that it's best to do this for about 2 to 3 months before starting on IVF. But if cannot, then 1 month also can. It's to strengthen the womb. I'm also taking some TCM from her. Think I'll rest for about 2 months before doing my FET.

Those who have yet to start their IVF, I think no harm trying accupunture. For the TCM part, you can skip it if you are not comfortable.

Lucrin and puregon are self injection. I didn't have any side effects except that I was bloated halfway through the puregon injections. I don't think there's any need to be on leave during this time. The crucial time would be the 2 weeks.

My hubby dont really believe in Chinese doctor, thinking will have a hard time convince him.

Actually i know need to tiao the body, but what else can i do to prepare for IVF program.

What do you all do in preparation?

Krmeow, is the pain bearable when the needle is being poked in?..does she explain is it normal that the leg might twitch? When you say TCM, are you referring to herbs?

I only did foot massage once many many yrs ago, forgot the feeling leow..still dun know why leg will twitch but nevermind. At least now if i go acu my leg twitch i won't be alarm ;)
 
hi i am under NUH Dr. prof pc wong. my left side tube is block . so trying for iui with clomid.i am ovulating every month by left side overy. but within last 7 months only one time right side overy ovulate thats why i do only one time iui, which is failed. i am taking clomid for 1 year. is it harmful?? can acupunture open the block of tube? very depressed.
will i step to IVF? any suggestions?i am almost 29 now.
 
ximi- I went to the clinic at Ang Mo Kio. I think most of the girls here try 2 clinics- one @ Mei Ling St and the other at AMK. Unfortunately, I didn't prepare much before my IVF and I regreted it. It may have been successful if I had done a little more to prepare my body. I'm now going to rest, have my accupuncture and take the TCM before starting my FET.

There is hardly any pain..maybe once or twice, you can feel the little poke. Believe me, this is nothing at all...after all the injections and blood tests.

The medicine is already prepared in little packets. I just have to take it 3 times a day.

She said there are 2 types of medicine. The one I'm taking now is to strengthen my womb. If you are starting IVF, then there is another type to take when you start your puregon- to make the eggs strong and ensure the quality is good. But like I said, if you are not comfortable with TCM, then just do the accupuncture lor.

PL- I'm not too worried...just feels a little wierd. ^^ I'll be doing this twice a week.
 
sister weiwei did you also do acupuncture?Did it really help? if i go for ivf this october when i have to start my acupunture?

suggest u start acupuncture and tcm now if u doing in oct.

i planning to do my FET in oct too..and i just started on my TCM and acu sessions.

according to the chinese docs, per cycle of treament is abt 3 mths, so it's best u start now if u really wanna try TCM or acu.

just to share some personal experience with u, my fresh cycle without acu and tcm ends with a disappointing negative, my 2nd try (FET) with acu ends with a positive but i miscarried at 6 wks.

i feel..each time..it's getting closer with acu.. so.. it probably does help a little. now, i'm taking acu with TCM to enhance the chances

Prof wong did not prefer laprscopy for me as my only left tube is blocked.Now he is suggesting to do another iui when right side ovaluate. Let see what happen next month.

acupunture for three months what will be the total cost? i stay at jurong west, do any of you know is there any at jurong west?

still lots of days to go, dont be kanjiong, last time 4 days after i started gonal-F i only got 3 follicles, but at the ER i ended up having 22 follicles, and 16 got eggs, 7 of them were developing and i put 2 for my ET, after tht still have 3 frozen embrios. mayb another 2 were not developing anymore at the day they were put into sleep. and, God bless, i now have twin liao.

I am facing the same problem as both of you, feeling fear that the project will become mouth of words. that is too scary and stressful, plus workplace isn't friendly. thus, i decided to take unpaid to embark on the project. it's difficult to explain and i am not good with words...

Perhaps, it's still early to test. when is your bhcg? i will do my scope next week with dr loh and hopefully, could conceive naturally and then embark on ivf if need be...
 
PL & Babylow, then how? What are your plans? Come clean with boss? I scared if tell boss the truth, she may mark me for not consulting her whether ok to do IVF now. But then again, i will have hated it if i had to do my IVF according to her schedule. And if tell the truth, very scared she let others know. I really dont want others to know. But found out from KKIVF that they wont help us keep mum about it should our company/bosses call. So can only hope they dont call KKH then. Very sianz ... have to think of how to suddenly report HL later on ... sure will kenna ask why why why from boss ...

hello! long time no hear...you wanna try acu too ah? The AMK one is at Blk 505, AMK Ave 8. I'm going try it out too. How have u been? You going to try fresh cycle again or FET?

from what i am told by various gynaes, clomid or serophene is not advisable to take more than 6 cycles consecutively as it can cause cysts/cancer of the ovaries.

i also have blocked tube due to ectopic pregnancy and i have sought TCM advice, they feedback that it's unlikely accup or tcm herbs will help as it's scarring of tissue which is non reversible.

i think it's better to come clear with your boss, explain to her that the schedule is not within your control as the go ahead is dependent on the doctor's assessment of your hormones level.

explain to her that this is a very personal matter and wold appreciate her/his help to keep it private and confidential.

you do not need this additional worry on top of the stress of the IVF cycle.

for myself, aftr coming so far, i dun care what others think, i am prepared to give up the job if i am forced to make a choice between the job and IVF.
 
Hi All,

I am back from ER. I woke up briefly during the procedure....it was kinda painful. *Sigh* only 5 eggs were retrieved. I was in so much discomfort yesterday I did not come online. I'm feeling much better today. Now that the discomfort is gone, I worry whether the 5 eggs will be fertilised. :<

glad to hear u feel better today, drink plenty of water, and try to rest, u will have update everyday about ur egg until ur ET.
 
where i can see a TCM dr?is tcm and accupuncture in the same place?
Sis deasy, in nuh how much is the total cost for ivf?is there any medical insurance? after you conceive u r under which dr? if i start ivf in the month of october whan my ET will be done?

Finally, I've made an appt to go acu tomorrow. This is my 1st time doing acu, hope will find it ok. How is yr acu session?

I've one question abt acu, not sure anyone can advise:
-If say my womb lining is already at the right measurement, will doing acu increase the thickness and make it too thick for conception?
Anyone heard of such things?
