can any gals advise me on this? this fri will be the end of my 2ww but i just realised i hv spotting.. wat am i suppose to do now? Does it mean tat my menses r coming or ?????
 
ferriswheel, spotting during 2ww could be 2 reasons, implantation or AF is on the way. It is difficult to tell until you missed.

JJ, please share more info about your TCM. Where is it? Are you just taking chinese herbs or together with accu?

Holidaygal, clomid is a hormone drug to induce more than 1 follicle thus increase chance of success of pregnancy. But it thins womb lining which is not good for implantation and cannot be taken more than 6 cycles in one lifetime. It may cause mutiples in pregnancy and increase risk of ovarian cancer.
 
hi ferriswheel, I think u shd take a HPT or visit KKH for BT asap. If you're pregnant, then the doc can give u the right advise or additional luteal support. Take care!
 
KK, depending on which hospital u go to, u'll be given different type of drugs. For NUH, I tried 2 types of cycles, and short protocol works better for me.

Long Protocol:
1)suprefact on Day 21 for 2 wks, then Menses will come,
2)take Gonal F on Day 2 of cycle until follicles are of good size (9 to 14 days), continue with suprefact until Prof request u to stop.
3) Egg retrieval and wait for fertilisation, start Crinone insert
4) Egg Transfer on Day 3/Day 5 depending on how good embryos are developing and the number of embryos available, excess embryos will be freezed
5) Continue with Crinone Gel until BT usually 14Days after ET)

Short Protocol:
straight to 2) without suprefact.

My TCM is eu yan sang (EYS) at north bridge road. I nvr do accupunture.

This sinseh not those really famous fertility sinseh like Xia Rong from EYS paragoon.

But I just go to her as she is convienantly located near my office, also my fren went to her for her normal AF cramps & after birth 'bu' ...

They say the herbs will be heaty ... but I don't experience it lei ... maybe cos I'm quite a heaty person already ...

You are cute, "no pain no gain" but for ivf, even if pain, also might no gain.. that is why sometimes very frustrating..
i m starting the supression jabs 24 Mar.. you are 1 week earlier

but i hv been on daily growth hormones jabs since early Feb..plus a once a month jab that is for my endometroisis..so it feels like forever already...all in all, its almost 3 months of jabs..
 
Think I will juz stick to folic acid (bought at guardian/ watson) then late morning chinese herbs & before sleep herbs ...

Any more & i would feel that abit overkill ... then i become too potent !!
 
blissful conceive well really mess up menses??? Urs was delayed? I am into my second pack and today D42....still no menses
 
Hi all,

Anyone can advise me if this is normal. I'm waiting for my pregnancy blood test next week.

But i feel extremely tired this week and bloatedness in my tummy. Is this normal. During the 1st week of my mc not as tired as now.

I feel easily hungry too. Do u gals feel this way too.

I have growth hormones deficiency.. so need to go on the hormone jabs 2 months before ivf...thts y like become an extended super long cycle ... i pray and hope that this time round, can get a decent number of embryos and enough to freeze for future use.
How come you hv to do so many fresh cycles? If you don't mind sharing.
fresh cycles are mentally and physically very very stressful.. need to worry about many things, whether hormones are suppressed, if eggs are growing well, if they are the right size..after tht worry if they fertilize well... just the mere thought of it now, makes me want to SIGH.... :p

July2007, any idea wat is the determining factor for whether to b on long or short protocol?

I m getting abit confused... TMC can deduct govt grant & medisave anot?
 
KK, I've just had my 1st consultation with Prof today. I find that he's a person who will tell you the truth and the facts but don't expect him to give u TLC (Tender, Loving, Care). I also have the same feedback from the ladies here who have met him. My hubby and I had BT done today - 4 tubes for me, 1 for him. As he need to investigate further before we embark on IVF, I'll be going for Hysteroscopy to check on my uterus as it cannot be seen using normal scanning.
 
Queenie, I don't think TMC is entitled for govt grant. If not wrong govt grant is entitled for SGH, NUH and KK. Hmm ... for medisave I'm not sure. Perhaps can check with the nurses there?

Yes if spermies are weak they will prescribe VIGORACE a supplement for man.

Basically for good sperms it is essential to have Zinc,Folic Acid, Selenium and Vitamin C also.

if the doc don't give meds, i've heard some doctors (Dr Loi from KKH) recommend Mega-man from GNC ...

I bought for dh to eat (b4 knowing the result) but in the end no use to eat for his condition.. its quite new & he ate a few pieces only .. I can let go at 1/2 price if anyone interested...
 
Thanks Jeinthiangel and JJ. Prof says can buy Vit C and E off the shelves for him to eat now if we want. Befor this, I bought Tribestan for him. But has stopped quite a while.
 
Ya men don't like to take vits/ meds ... I had to force feed mine to take vitamins too ...

Worse then children !

Fresh mean they whole protocol is complete into one. Prepare to let the eggs inside us grow, once ready, take them out( known as ER -- egg retrival) then after a few days put them back (ET--egg transfer)

FET mean frozen egg transfer. After the ET, the ladies may not able to continue the cycle due to OHSS -- ovarian hyerstimulation syndrome. They will rest 2 menses cycles or even more. After a few months they go back prepare the lining with lucrin and put the egg back called ET. While the ladies are taking a break, the eggs are frozen that's why known as FET
 
Jeinthiangel, I remembered my hubby was given something to eat during my GonalF stage. Cant remember it though. I think it might be some kind of anti biotics for him

My hubby ate that too during my Gonal F stage. The antibiotics is to help prevent infection during the "important" stage.

You mentioned we can use Medisave for all hospitals (including private) but do u know if there is a maximum times of deduction? ie. 3 times max? Or doesnt matter as long as you have sufficient funds in the medisave account?

Gan, yes mine was delayed. I have stop taking don’t want to mess up my plan for the new fresh cycle.

Pandawife, understand i stress up even for a small thing. My 1st FET strike now my son is 5 this yr. Want to have 2nd one lor, no expiation why didn’t strike.
 
Actually, 3 times use medisave is too little. Becos many times, first IVF cycle is only a trial cycle becos docs would not have known what dosage we will respond to yet so they will just give minimum dosage. Then happen some people actually needed bigger dosage so actually that first cycle not even correctly administered yet its conveniently counted as 1 failed cycle. Govt should allow people to use medisave for more cycles, this will also encourage more births and bigger families. I know their rationale is to help us save for old age then maybe can they can implement a cap of say must at least have certain $$ in medisave before can use for IVF or no more than $x000 each cycle. As at now just max 3 cycles of $4k + $5k + $6k is only $15k, so little considering medical costs are increasing.

I voice out to CPF before they just stubbornly reply cannot. That health minister really dont understand. They want people to give birth then they should help those who really want to give birth but have difficulties right? Sigh..
 
Beyond 3rd cycle still got govt grant of $3k if you havent used up the 3 times govt grant, just that cant use medisave for 4th cycle onwards.
 
Sunflower seed, I agree that the current amount deductable from medisave is too little, given that the drugs that we need to buy are so costly. And I cannot understand why the amount becomes lesser, feels like they are discouraging people to go for 2nd or 3rd try.. It should be a same consistent amount within the 3 attempts.
And you are right, first time is always more of an experiment to figure out wht is the right dosage and what kind of drugs would work.
 
For my long protocol, i responded well to the drugs, but then during retrieval, only 8 eggs retrieved out of 16 follicles, and only 2 are mature

it's terrible results, and hence the failed cycle.

So Prof suggested that I dont get suppressed at all and go str to injections of Gonal F.

For my 2nd short protocol, I had 27 follicles, and during ER, 24 eggs retrieved, out of which 15 are mature, and 10 eggs got fertilised thro' ICSI, and 2 put bk in, and still have 7 to freeze for FET. My dosage for short protocol was lesser, and yet the follicles are more, so it means that I had responded much better to the short protocol.

I was preg with the short protocol, but I was bleeding, and lost it. If you are with NUH, please request for extra crinone gel, as I find that my flow will come earlier than BT. Asked prof on this, and he has no explanation on why it happens, and that the amount of crinone given is more than sufficient for 1 day. He also said that no point measuring progestrone levels during 2ww because the hormones are different, etc (I dont quite understand but have no facts to question further).

So anyway, I've started on my FET journey, and have been taking prognava now. Will see prof in 2 wks to check on lining. He'll be on leave, so he wont be the one putting in my embryos

Seed, medisave amt balance is capped at abt 36k. Once tt is hit, no more contribution is made to tt a/c. The excess goes to our special account which will become our retirement a/c later in life. So, 3x ivf already takes up 15k. So quite hard to set a min bal b4 we can use for medisave for medisave. Mthly cog amt Tat goes to medisave is very little. For a deduction of 4k from our medisave will take at least 1.5 yrs to replenish.

If you dont mind me asking, during your long protocol, did Prof mention why the other 6 eggs are immature? I recently had a similar case whereby i only had one mature egg. But Prof dint suggest that I do the short protocol at all , instead he "sounded" like i should give up. Your short protocol sounds encouraging whereby you had so many mature eggs which is good.
