IVF/ICSI Support Group

Hi Ladies,
Anyone has experience with Dr Cathryn Chan from Gleneagles? She has her private clinic at Hougang Ave 8 (The Women Specialist Clinic).
My friend is seeing her as she got a cyst and has just been removed. Need comments about Dr Chan. Thanks!

Yours is earlier cos you are expecting twins. Based on the calculator, my EDD should be 27Jan. But I think I'll due earlier because my son was delivered at 37 weeks.... Dr said I might be early for this one too.

Hi everyone...

I am back from KK. Lesser people today. Anyway had my final scan. Number of follicles still the same as last just that the 7 have increased in size tremendously. Will they still continue to grow in the next 2 days?

I am having my ER this Friday. Pls pray for me and pray that I have a significant number of follicles + mature eggs. Going back to the clinic tonight for my Pregnyl shot. Will be at the clinic on Friday at 0730.

Mine was super roller coaster until now.. i just hope i will have a smooth journey from 2nd trimester onwards.. n have my babies really soon.. maybe staying at home all the time.. time really slow.. calculated everyday and only reached 7weeks.. 5 more weeks to go to end 1st trimester..

Littlemilk, You are spot on about the care we get at NUH. After my failed cycle Prof spent at least half and hour with DH and I answering all our questions. That's when I saw his softer side. I don't think I would have managed my IVF cycle if not for the support I got from the nurses at CHR especially Jan and Tovelle. Of course my heart wants to stay with Prof but my brain working overtime everytime I think about my 2nd cycle, hehehehe

Happen to bump into this support group. I wished I had seen this website sooner.

I had just gotten my negative results from KKIVF. Both hubby and I were very disappointed.....But after reading through some of the trials U ladies had gone through and some of the success stories. Will buck up and try again.

I am with Dr Loh too.

I think it is a little too early to do HPT now. If you really wan to do it, must use 1st morning urine, ya. HCG is most concentrated in the morning.

Thumbs UP for Dr Chan .. she is the one that i say is my cousin's gynae.. good skill and responsible gynae.. dare to give dosage which is good unlike KK.. only thing is she is blunt n straight forward.. like my cousin having bad morning sickness , she say " Happy vomitting as pregnancy is good ".. n she is expensive.. but if u have done your IVF elsewhere , she will not take over the case unnecessarily or maybe even a firm NO.. still thumbs up for her.. she has been good !!

the follicles will still contrinue to grow in size over these 2 days.

in my case, my right ovary was high in the initial scan, however during the final scan, prof told me it has come down, as the follicles have grown bigger and heavier, hence it moved down,

thanks for the advice. i will see if the blood stains continue into a full blown menses, if so, then there is no need for HPT anyway.

Try ribena. or 100 plus, of coz not drink the whole cans or cup, just a small amount, it will in morning sickness.

It's bless with MS, at least you know the little twins is growing fine in you. This is wish of mom-to-be.

Develyn-copy from book

Eat ginger in any form, such as crystallized ginger or ginger biscuits or preferbly dring ginger tea. Infuse 5g (1tsp) grated ginger root in a cup of freshly boiled water for five mins. Drink a cup two or three times a days or sip it frequently throughout the day..

Other herbal teas can help too including chamonile, fennel, spearmint or pepermint. Drink a cup for 3 times a day.

Thanks! Cause my friend has been trying to conceive for quite sometime. Tough trying as what she said and she only realised that she has a cyst which is 5cm end of last year. Went to Dr Chan and was asked to removed her cyst. Now recovering...
She was referred to Dr Chan by her friends so was asking about it causes she didn't research much.

Yes babygalore , whack on all holidays u can... cos after that u will be really boring during pregnancy.. i also missed all my holidays and cruise..

hi pari and all sisters who are doing TCM,

i did not do any TCM during my first try but would like to hear from you sisters how it works.

1. do u need to get from your hosp your medical record and show to the TCM doctor?
2. is accupuncture painful?
3. can one go for accupuncure but decline the chinese medicine?
 
Littlemilk, I go for accu and TCM with Dr Zou at AMK, alot of sisters here go to her. The accu is not painful. I brought my initial BT and DH's sperm test to her. Dr Zou recommended TCM for me as I want to do everything and anything to prep my body, I'm taking. However as I read from some sisters here she does not force if you dont want to take.
 
Oh my goodness... The thread is moving very fast. Thanks for all the assurance with regards to the follicles size. Just a bit concern coz today out of the 7 follicles most of them are in the range 16 - 17mm and they want to trigger by tonight. Worried it was too early.

I am just hoping for the best for Friday. I will update again once I get back from ER.

To all growing through the MS, pls take care. I know physically we cant make you feel better. BUt if you need a shoulder to lean on, I am sure all of us are here for you.

Ros-I read if they increase the last few day, it will continue to increase so don't worry. Anyway, between 18-22mm is fine so you have to more day to go...

Yep, really hard to go on Business Trip. Although she is already 7 years, I really feel sad when I see her cries. and somehow, she often falls sick when I am not there. My hubby says that he is afraid she is going under depression when I am not there as she would just look at the wall and cry herself to sleep, almost everyday. Just thinking of it makes me sad and I secretly hope that they cancel the business trip due to the H1N1 flu!

Did my ER on 3 April 2009... Right now my tummy is showing off like 4 mths pregnant, for a 1st timer like me... My EDD will be 25 December 2009.
I did go to Dr Zho for accu during my puregon time...
 
Hi Ladies,

To share some of my history. This is my second failed IVF cycle. The first was done in Mount E with a private doctor.

For that first IVF try, we did not even reach ET stage. none of the follicle retrieved managed to developed properly. This time round, I had poor response to Puregon. I had only 4 follicle and only 3 eggs retrieved. Only one precious egg fertilised and I manage to have ET. We were hopeful that this precious one (only a grade 2) will hold but unfortunately.......

Will be seeing Dr Loh this Sat and will discuss options. I also have a high FSH and age is catching up too (will be 37 soon).

By the way, I don't have my AF yet. how long usually it will take before AF arrive after a failed cycle? any advice? Thanks in advance

Follicles grow about 1 to 2 mm a day so they should be perfect for harvest on your ER day! and remember to drink chicken essence. that may boost them as well. I also feel that they will have a growth spurt at the day of the journey!

yes, both Serene and I were on short protocole but it seems that each centre is doing things differently. but the sure thing is that you are closer to your dream!

Pari, dr zou's clinic is it the one at Blk 505 AMK? I think i saw some sisters mentioned the address before.
 
Jude, Sorry to hear about your failed cycle. Take time to get over the failure and join us here for your next round.

Littlemilk, wow your dosage for Gonal-F so much lower than mine and you only injected for 9 days. I guess you did not have to top up much after govt grant and medisave.

welcome to the 37 club! There are quite a few of us here! My AF reported 2 days after I stopped taking the medications after my BT was negative. It must have been Day 16 after ET. AF was a bit longer than usual as well. I think it is due to all the medications. Were you on a short or long protocole? what was your FSH?

SO serious. You know, my friends even go for hols during her maternity leave (2nd mth aft giving birth). And every year, then couple will just go to Japan with us for 2 weeks w/o their son. And they both often go for diving.

I wonder am I able to be like that?

Btw are you intending to do OSCAR? And are you still seeing Dr Loh?

Today is already Day 19 after ET. That was why we were hopefull but I guess AF delay could be due to the progestrone that I am taking.

I was on a long protocol again. I had hoped that they change my protocol this time round looking at my past history (poor response), but KK still put me on the long protocol. Looks like they alway try the normal protocol first.

I think my FSH was about 11+.

I think by 14 weeks, Doctor will know the gender. I dun mind which gender as long my babies are healthy and in good condition.. Right now with expecting twins my weight gain only 2kg.. Haiz...!! Dunno if I'll be weight gaining as I eat like small kids, eat abit feeling full and never finish my food!!!

LittleMilk-your respond to the drug quite well ah..only 300iu and only for 9 days. I will be given 500iu le..

June-You were given on how many iu? Regarding AF, I think it is individually, some report bf test or it will report 2-3 days later..

I think Dr loh will ask you whether you want to do OSCAR or not. For my case, I don't want to do OSCAR just have faith with GOD... And normally, he will scan for you and let you have the pic of you babies...and also see if they are healthy..

During my 8 week visit, one of the patient whom I know during ER and we have same EDD, her twin was vanish (twin vanishing symtons)only left one... I was so scared that time as she went in 1st then followed by me. She was crying and worst part she went alone and his DH was in China at that time... But this is her 2nd pregnancy.
 


Hi Boon,

I started with 400iu for about 10 days, then progress to 600 for about 3 days then 700 for 2 days. I think I took about 15 days of injection.
