For me, I think I will try for max of 2 times b4 I give up. Cos I really dun think I can afford more than that. Besides, it is also an emotion roller coaster for me. Had I hate taking roller coaster rides.
 


Hi Gloria....I tried IVF and succeeded with one try @age 40, now my bb is 10 weeks old...so happy, itz worth all the time and effort. Never too old to give up.

Last Fri when i was given another medicine by gynae for 'blood circulation'... when i read the medicine desc, it was to prevent stroke and heart attack... anyone taking 'cardolipin' ?

tomatoes... how was ur gynae visit ? i will not be visiting my gynae for next few months except to pick up medicine or if i strike...

Gloria, 'cardolipin' sounds familiar to me, is it also called baby asiprin? My gyane did gave me baby asiprin after I had my transfer, said to promote more blood going into the womb.

Though I hvn't been posting but I do come in to update of the progress here. Glad to hear some good news here.

I'm almost ready to embark on my 2nd IVF journey .... this few months I din really do anything, trying to keep the bb issue off my mind and try naturally but still no good news yet.

Btw, jus wonder if you ladies have any suggestion on how I can take MC or Leave without letting my boss know I'm trying for the 2nd time. AsI mentioned before, my company do not recognised the IVF mc, so I'm thinking now how I can minimised the leave I have to take. Otherwsie I would have to take unpaid leave and that's going to add up to my IVF cost.

As for MC, can u tell your boss u went for a minor surgery instead cos the MC didn't indicate the reason afterall.

Ya, just tell yourcompany that you are going for a surgery, i did that last time. They won't know. As for scan and blood test, just try to be there earlier, as long as there's no consultation at KKh, it should be very fast. All the best for your next IVF!!

as expected, AF came on the day 42 liao, been delayed for so looong. Will be doing FET next month, taking pills and then start Lucrin again, followed by scan and blood test, keeping my fingers crossed, the 3 frozen embryo can survive the thaw...

Anyways, good luck CT and Novem, i know we can make it this time. Are you doing anything "new", i mean, chinese herbs, exercise, new diet, etc?

Novem, you mean we have to do everything again? lucrin and Puregon? but i didn't response to lucrin, wonder if there is any drug to suppress. Pls. do let me know the procedure, i will talk with my RE maybe two weeks from now to know how it goes.

I've heard a lot on Gleneagles, Dr. Foong? not sure of the name, or maybe Micky's RE, he's quite popular too.

If i were you, well, it's my unsolicited advice, since there is no frozen, then, you can switch RE so there would be a new protocol.

thanks, think we need lots of luck and positive thinking for a successful IVF/ICSI... I requested switch to your RE,at first they said I have to pay $80 for choosing a new RE, otherwise, they will just assign one to me, but I insisted since the first time I paid already as private patient, now the dr leaving, not fair for me to pay again ma, then the nurse also quite nice, just closed one eye, let me chose Dr SF Loh...

how fast we can get the refund from KKh after we received letter fm CPF for the deduction? Did you KKIVF to check? BTW, I can only claim Medisave $ 5540, not the full amount, maybe my medication not much lor... duno leh, how abt you gals?

my opinion for changing RE very much depends on my budget.

nice to hear fm you again. I think for FET no need to jab stimulation as I am taking Birth control pills ( what a joke! TTC and taking BCP, ha ha ha), then start lucrin on day 16 for 2 weeks, and then scan/blood test, still have not met the new RE yet,so not sure what to expect next, will try to find out more when i go down to buy Lucrin next week.

You should received a week after you received the letter from CPF. The last time I claimed only about 5K cos my medicine not much.

Yah I'm considering Micky's RE Prof SC Ng or staying behind with KKH. Cost is really the main factor and I'm discussing with my hubby.

But we will most likely made an appt to see Prof Ng b4 we decide.

If cost is really a factor for u, maybe u wan to switch to NUH? Heard there is a Prof there who is quite good in IVF too. Also, the cost should not defer a lot from KKH.

Are you talking of Prof PC Wong? if yes, then, i don't like him (hope he's not surfing this site) i find him not nice and approachable, one question, one answer type of doctor, i just went to him once as he's quite famous, but i'm not comfortable with him.

CT, i think aside from cost, you have to consider if you're comfortable with the RE. KKH has other doctors, so you might just want to switch to other RE.

Yah, I think so. My colleague recommend me to see him when she got to know I'm going for IVF. She say he's very famous in her time (she is 40 over years old now). But then, I was already under KKH and so did not bother to go and see him.

I'm actually not complaining about the RE in KKH , in fact in KKH, we oonly get to see the RE 3 times thru out the whole IVF program. It's jus that in KKH I feel the service is not personalised and seems like everyone is going thru the same standard procedure.

If you really want to avoid suspicious colleagues, it may be a good idea to take leave. If not, just tell them that you are going for minor surgery, dun care whether they suspect or not.

For me, I am having a bit of complications for my pregnancy. Well, it's gestational diabetes. Luckily discovered early and now just have to watch my diet very carefully. My bb still doing fine.

Should cost is a factor for you, then I suggest you do it in govt hospital. my total bill uner SC Ng came up to abt $12k+ for one IVF cycle, that excludes the freezing, pre-test etc. That means, 12k only covers Lucrin, GonalF, needles, alcohol swaps

That is really funny you're taking BCP!!! When did you start taking it? For how long? Then lucrin for 2 weeks.....then, transfer?

I'm just computing, so it will take more than one month? Day 16 plus two weeks, that's a month. I should be seeing my RE now, i thought once i have my period, wait for 14 days, then, transfer.

Thinking that it's time to go for testing to see there is any problem with us. Can anyone advise where to go and recommend any doctor? And, any difference between pte and govt hospitals for testing only? Or is it better to stick to one throughout since after testing, the doctor would make recommendation? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Just please read our previous postings, and you'll see lots of recommendations on how to go through it.

No use of switching doctors, stick to one, then, if it fails, you can opt for another one.

Remember me? I was in previous communications with you gals abt my condition. Was supposed to wait for my next period before I can go for my blood test (prior to the IVF process).

I do not have regular period & now it has been more than 2 months since I'd my last menses. Last Thurs, had some brown spotting & thought that my period is coming & was all prepared to go down for my blood test on the next full bleed (as advised by nurse). But full bleed didn't come. I kept on having that kind of spotting until today. Not sure if I can proceed with the blood test as don't know if it's be accurate since it's not full bleed.

Has anyone experience this before? Pls advise.

went to see my gynae for the 2nd SA result (hb's) ... recommended to try SO-IUI first ...

Btw... can I ask ... yesterday was my Day 1 .. but wasn't heavy ... only very light bleeding, still got to count as Day 1 huh?

I have to start on my serophene on Day 2 (which is today)

And I am still undecided if I should take the jabs as well ....

Hi Annie,

Day 1 is counted if it is RED, if it's just brown spotting, then, it's not. Even if you had your period in the afternoon but RED, then, it's also day 1. Hope that's clear.

HPT means home pregnancy test. Diff people got diff pregnant symptoms. For me, I don't feel tenderness or any sore in my breast so far also.

yesterday morning I was so happy when I tested positive for ovulation... a bit early though CD12 ... will have to wait for 14 days before i start testing for pregnancy... now i can understand the expectation and agony of having to wait 14 days... i think i have been the most lazy bum who din monitor ovulation or even remember the 1st day of my period !!... timing must be damn off... now i am paying the price for my years of laziness .. trying to get pregnant

i have been eating super healthy food - tomatoes, kiwis, guava, vegetable and i told my hubby that i want to be as healthy as possible to increase my chances of pregnancy... he was quite touched ... both me and hubby are really giving it our last shot... that day i asked my hubby, if he is still single now, will he still marry me... he said 'yes', but i think actually he should marry someone younger if he was still single...

saw someone recommending the website www.victoriafertility.com and printed some doc from it too ... wow.. that is quite a website.. list out some much info as compared to our sg websites... do take a look if you have time...

i am thinking of trying 4 cycles naturally .. (with clomid and baby aspirin)... then i will go back to my gynae if still don strike... very gan-cheong lah... cannot wait much longer else time running out.. (do u sense my anxiety ?)

Hi Gloria, it's never too late ok! me too can definitely understand ur anxiety... during my last appointment, my gynae was telling us that he can still remember how anxious we were when we first see him and that we wanted results very fast :p Hope u can strike naturally!! Don't forget ur folic acid and lots of protein for ur eggies!

Micky, Ray must be so adorable that u so 'on' already planning for ur 2nd hehe... my hubby was mentioning having 2nd one recently too, his dream has always been to have 3-4 kids, and i told him 1st one still haven't pop yet! moreover if conceiving each child is going to cost us a bomb, also dunno got $$ to have so many or not! i've only got 3 embryos frozen so if going for assisted again would probably need to start a fresh cycle liao ..hai.

last time when we were seriously dating, both hubby and i oso wanted a few kids and we were so happy that we agree on this ... (not like one DINK and one want many many kids lor..) and now after donkey years still kosong... so damn shi-bai... and yesterday try until yao-suan-bei-tong.. very tired (due to old age).. this morning so ambitious want to try one more time before goto work ... but cannot take it already....

so, i think if we really fail after the 4th cycle, cant say that we din try right... my gynae oso v cute, said a few times that we should try to do as many times as we can when i ovulate.. but frankly speaking, u think when u do several times at such close interval will have sperm in the output or not huh ? thot oso need time to produce sperm right ? hm... but i din ask my gynae lah... i just go 'ok'...

and i hope to remain stress-free this 14 days so that my embryo will develop nicely (if it exists lah).. but then my work gets v xiong sometimes... feel like telling my boss don gimme so much work / stress can or not ... but of course not lah... she don care abt such things one lah... given deadline, must produce right ?
(ha ha .. does it mean i have to give myself deadline to produce oso ??)

but very frankly, my mum is more worried abt this than my MIL... i think my mum is from the older gen whereby she scared my hubby will run away easily if we don have kids to tie him down... she tell me funny things like 'don on air-con / fan when u are trying' wonder why, sperm will be blown try ?? ha ha din ask her oso... pai-seh to ask my mum such things lah... my MIL was quite upset when we thot of adoption.. she immediately gave me and my hubby some chocolate looking chinese bu-wan to boost his sperm and my womb...

anyway, will have to keep trying lor... hope more pple will join the forum to share ...

Dun be so stress. Usually, u see people who are conceived easily are those who less kan cheong for bb.

I also tried very long. When I got married, i planned to have 1 year honeymoon period and then try for a bb after 1 year also. But i didn't strike. It was almost after 1 year of trying that i see a gynae and got to know our problem. Most imprtantly, find out what's your problem and the solution to the problem.

It may not be good to bd too often during your fertile period. My gynae say sperm quality/qty is at it best within 3 days from day of last ejaculation. So no point "preserving" sperm from day 1 till your O-day as sperm quality will have deteriorate. His advise is to start bd on every alt day from day 10 onwards till 1 day after you get +ve on your O-kit. U may want to try that. Also, someone also recommend me to give hubby "dong chong chao" as it will improve sperm quality/qty.

Me also tried for 2 yrs already also... also didn't lay an egg... been really really hardworking since last yr May.... go through 4 rounds of clomid. Been through larpo to check the system inside...

I'm also in my 2WW as this time round I go for SO-IUI... so really really pray hard that this month can success

i oso like westbb, v gan-cheong on 1st visit tell gynae i really want see results but he is very calm leh.. advise me to let him monitor closely for one cycle and then after that he told us to try natural 1st... I did remind him of my age but he seems quite calm abt it too... (are all gynaes so calm ?? don think so) he said even if i try SO-IUI later, it will not be much later right and it will not be so stressful on me to go straight to IUI/IVF... i think i trust him lah...

i was reading the old threads and realise now all of you seem much 'older and wiser' now, esp chemistry, westbb and tomatoes... last time u all oso go thru a lot of ups and downs when u all trying out .... this TTC thing is really hard hor.. esp on the woman.. i think my hubby is still quite happy-go-lucky... he munches on CNY goodies, watches TV, surf net on car forums, sleeps v soundly while i lay awake at 2 am hearing him snore... for me, i always borrow books on infertility and when i read abt something interesting or of relevance, i will point out to him... but he seems quite OK generally ...

sometimes looking at my hubby, i really want to have a bb like him... i think it will make the family more complete right ? else 2 person like v lonely... i hate it when pple tell me 'u think we r so lucky like u meh, can go anywhere u want... no need to worry abt kids'... feel like punching them in the face... (oops.. v violent hor).

my hubby din save the sperm ... but we tried on sat and then monday lor... hope he got enough sperm .... dong-chong-chao is good for sperm ? i ask my mum how to prepare or can u teach me ?

It is very important to be happy (must try), do whatever you can to make yourself happy - juz like your hubby. It will make you think that life is not that bad after all

. For me, I can say the most difficult period yet in my life is still the TTC period. Luckily, my hubby is a very cheerful and supportive then (cos I really need that), juz like your hubby. Now, I have to worry about the health of pregnancy and later on future of my child(ren). Think it is really part and parcel of life...

If you can, like what chemistry said, try to take "dong cong cao" once a month for both. It helps with hubby's sperm and build up women's uterus. I took a lot of that b4 I go for IVF.... So maybe it helps abit

Got for holidays if possible oso, cos when you are pregnant, you will be more restricted. Who knows, you might even strike during your holidays ;)

well, i watched the wong li-lin show and was so engross with the lady Betty... (more interesting than Li-Lin).. Betty goes to gynae called Dr Tony Tan and tried IVF (think so) and got quads... they decided to keep all and it is really heart-warming to see her so determined to go thru her pregnancy... i think should have more shows like tat to bring awareness of the technology available and the process that one will be going thru hor... v informative ... wonder what happened in the end hor... in the last episode i watched, she managed to reach 24 weeks in her pregnancy and she was hoping to reach 28 weeks to reach the 'safety zone'.

u just start pills yesterday, then u should be going for IUI only right?? mine is SO-IUI, which mean injection from day 2 to day 12 (my case) to have more than 1 follicle... on day 15 then went to IUI.

Gloria, i was like u last year... very anxious to have the end-product. can't imagine have to go for 6 rounds of clomid which is 6 months!!!! but also no choice... still very anxious now... very disappointed every month... 1st 2 months will cried when AF came, later no tears already.
