IVF/ICSI Support Group

Patchwork,
Welcome! You can check out this KKIVF website for more info on the staff and the process. It shows the 3 doctors in the IVF team, Dr Loh, Dr Sadhana and Dr Kelly. You can call the IVF centre to check, but I think if yours is Dr Kelly in clinic D, will be the same doc who performs ur ER/ET. Once the doc give u approval to do IVF, they'll trsf u to IVF centre for ur jabs and scans until ER/ET, and u'll be dealing with the nurses mostly. http://www.kkh.com.sg/MedicalSpecialtiesnServices/Centres/KKIVFCentre/

Tigg3r,
Think diff people have diff side-effects when on lucrin n puregon. If unbearable, better check with the nurses, ok? I didn't have much side-effects.

Needle,
So cute...19mm already!

What's FTS stand for? Also, I got a lot of brochures during my 1st visit. Are u going to do the Thalassaemia test? I even don't remember if I've done it before.

Hi Ladies,
Went for 8th wk scan today. I'm glad that dr said the foetus is growing healthy and is now 17mm. Needle, din know our appt same day
happy.gif
My appt is also 3 wks away.

Rammy, Needle,
May i know which package are you choosing for the FTS? I'm wondering is package B suppose to be better than C?..but both detection rate is 90%. Nobody explained to me and I also din know that there are packages to choose so never ask.

Petals,
FTS stands for Fetal Screening..they will pass u the brochure on yr 2nd visit. Thks for yr explanation reg the info on the scan printout. Hee today Dr told me dun follow the foetus measurement on the bks, said not accurate to compare with our calculation of weeks.

Nano,
It's so nice to see the foetus during the scan, right? Yah, the books just provide a rough guide to their weekly devlpmt. Thanks, I have the Premier Fetal Screening brochure too. I was also looking at the packages B or C. Prob B since it's done earlier than C. Will check with Dr Loh during my next visit...can't wait for my next scan.

Petals,
Yah at least after the scan I'm more assured that baby is growing...at least now doc can tell us where is the head and where is the backside. I think likely i'll go for pckg B also, better since can all be done in 1 visit.

Nano,
Thanks. I tried taking a nap, no use... Only subsided when I massaged my head lightly and then took a shower. Trying not to take any medication if possible for now. Did u get another printout when u went for ur scan yesterday?

Petals,

I'm slowly getting use to the injections. Will contact the nurse if it's unbearable. You got to take care, ok!

Petals,
Has yr headache subsided? Yes, doc gave us the printout of the scan. I guess everytime we go they will give us a copy.

Rammy, Petals, Needle,
Do u all intend to stick to kkh thru'out yr pregnancy or will you change hospital?

Hi Petals

Hope you are feeling better. Yes, paracetamol is safe to take. I heard mixing 1:1 portion of 100plus and water helps too.

Hi everyone!
I need your help and advice... I am now D11 after ET. I tested positive on a home preg test kit. Should I be getting my hopes up or could it be remnants of the HcG shot 2 weeks ago that is giving this result?

Hope you can share if you had a similar experience.

Thanks!!!
jo

The +ve results shouldn't be the effect from HCG shot which you took 2 weeks back.

You may inform the nurse on this and tell them you want to go down to KKIVF to do a blood test to confirm the results. However, if the beta is below 200 (if i am not wrong), you still have to test 1 more time in 2 to 3 days times to confirm the increase of beta level. If it is above 200, you will be given duphston (oral pills) to support the preganancy and you will be given an appointment for the first scan with your Dr.

(The progestrone jabs will still required up to 17th day post ET).

Nano,
yah, I'll prob continue with KKH until full-term. In case there's any emergency, at least it's cheaper and they have all my records. You thinking of changing?

Joanna,
Thanks, my headache finally subsided in evening. Never heard of the 100 plus and water mix. Sounds interesting, and I'll try it next time.
Also sounds like u have good news...If ur HCG jab is more than 2 wks ago, then it shldn't affect ur HPT. Anyway, when I tested on D13 post-ET, I saw a faint positive line on the cheaper Watson's HPT. So I confirmed it by doing a blood test the next day and got a confirmed BFP. I think the Watson's one wasn't that sensitive since it was cheaper, that's why it was only a faint line showing. Maybe u can ask for a blood test tmrw. U still on ur daily progest jabs right?

helpme,
So you've started ur jabs...time will pass very quickly after this. Soon will be ur ER. Make sure you look for a soft spot when u jab so not so painful. Esp later on, like in ur 2nd week onwards when some areas start to harden. So u and Tigg3r cycling at the same time. All the best!

Hi koala and petals

Thanks for the sharing. Wooh! Now my hopes are a bit higher. Just hope that it really is good news. Shared it with my husband and told him to keep it to ourselves for now cos I do not want to disappoint anyone.

Think I might wait a few days and try again on Thursday. This Sat is PH so I wouldn't be having my test at KK till Monday.

Petals:

the 100plus rememdy was sent to me through a well-read email article discouraging ppl from taking too much panadol. There is belief that paracetamol is not good for you.

stardiva,
Is the acu cost at raffles the same? It was also my first time, so I also don't really know the diff. Also found out from the other sistas on this thread abt trying acu with ivf.

Joanna,
You can always request them to test earlier if u want. But they will tell u that if the level is low, they want you to re-test a few days later. Then u can see the doubling trend. I couldn't wait myself, that's why I tested.

petals,

raffles is $45 compared to $25 at dr.zou.but if u take the ivf booster package, think it's about $390 for 5 sessions? the lady dr. say ah la carte is cheaper than package since ivf can't take meds so jus need to go acu n no need consultation, no need package. raffles also dun use electric on the needles, only heat. but raffles has aditional pressure pts on the head, hands n sometimes ears!

i really crave for cold drinks so much i kept drinking lots of pepsi n magarita this wkend!
here i am doing ivf n acu n drinking cold drinks! :p

Hi Petals

I wrote to Dr Loh...and his reply is "Congratulations!...."

Wow! he sounds so positive....says the injection will not stay in the body for so long. But I am still not too sure. He suggested the same as you, to do an earlier blood test.

Aiya, I feel like I am behaving like over-kancheong.....

Hi stardiva

Thank you.... i called the nurses and they reckon I should test again on Friday before the blood test next Monday. I will wait patiently till then.

I must admit that I did drink cold drinks although i stayed clear of coffee. I also drank lots of water.

I think the biggest difference was I transferred to a different dept at work to a less time sensitive one. That made a great difference in reducing my stress levels. My new boss is great support too. I am working from home these 2 weeks.

I did not do accu although I did make sure I did regular light exercise. I did eat a lot of fish and veg - basically cut down on carbo and ate more protein. I stayed away from fish like salmon though, cos often they are fed with colouring to get the orrange color in their meat. And also, they may contain higher amounts of mercury.

Ladies:

I had a sharp pull in my right ovary yesterday which caused a sharp pain. Quite painful cos I couldn't cough or sneeze lying down - had to sit curled up. Are our ovaries still recovering? Is that what's causing the pain? It lasted about 5-10min, then I was ok.
