i also think the dr can see on the ultrasound whether it will implant or not. there was a youtube video that claim that the uterus actually moves towards the embryo. it claims that it is a natural reaction to facilitate implantation.
woah tats realllyy interesting!!

Implantation doesn’t take place few days after embryo transfer, depends on the day of your embryo. The uterus will contract and relax naturally which will ‘move’ the embryo. Not sure how the uterus move towards the embryo when the embryo is already inside the uterus?

When is your ET? Or are u doing FET?

prof suggest i do FET.

Take time to have a good rest and build a good body for your transfer. All you need is 1 embryo to make it!

tqtq

how r u doing today ?

i am hoping to transfer 2. because i still dont know if i want to continue doing ivf.

but i heard prof will urge to put just one. i am 32. is this true of what i heard about prof ?

If this is your first transfer, yes. Usually they will only put 1.

Hey dear, cheer up! Remember, it only takes one to stick!

Yup the embryologist calling to update is one of the most nerve wrecking experiences in the whole ivf process actually.

They should be able to tell you the grade and the number of cells each embryos have from day 2 onwards. U can ask them specifically over the phone.

They will pick the morphologically best looking ones for the transfer, and for the surplus suitable ones they will freeze them for future FETs.

In cases where there are deemed no good grade embryos, a decision can still be made by the doctor/embryologist and patient to still go ahead with the transfer and give it a chance.

I so agree about this, they will know the best.

I felt all the nerves when the embryologist calls because my numbers were just declining. I had from 18 retrieved down to only 2 fertilised. Silly me didn't manage to ask them anything about the grade nor the cell of my embies. Praying that my fet goes well.

I did ask at my recent transfer. What they told me is that they will usually transfer the better embryos first. But there’s no grading given for 5 day blasts.

there is no grading for day 2 day 3 embryos right ? lol

it’s depressing to hear the numbers dwindling. sorry, it’s my first time. bear with me.

the embryologist said poor graded embryos they do not transfer but i have heard stories that people transferred poor embryos and they stuck.

so i am curious why she is telling me like a definite no. or do they use like the poor embryos that manage to survive till day 5? hmmm...

There are grading for d2 and d3. My son was a d2 average embryo.

Those in NUH and under prof wong - did he allow the embryos to be frozen on D2/D3? Or do fresh transfers for D2/D3 embryos?

embryologist just told me they will grow till the best that can be. even till 5 or 6 days. then they freeze. i dont get to decide.

for fresh transfers i dont know because this is my 1st cycle.

Hi Rainbowskies,

If you are keen to find out the details, you can give the clinic a call to get the embryologist to call you back with the details. Otherwise, on the day of the transfer they will let you know the grade and cell number again.

Good luck for your FET!

Oh I see, that's interesting. I don't know if mine are blasts even. :)

But I am thankful to have at least 2 to hope on.

Thank you, now I know!

I will just wait for my FET day since it's this month. Thanks !

Ah ok. I tried to ask my Dr if we can freeze at D2 but she said no.

i thought it is same like blastocyst will have 5ABC or something. but there is not right ? there is just poor/satisfactory/average/good/very good right ?

Different hospitals have different grading system. My first one was at RH and they use Good, average etc.

anyone had their piles or haemorrhoid treated while doing ivf ? i am seeing specialist at same hospital nuh and i was given diosmin 450mg hesperidin 50mg. i just want to know if anyone took the same meds.

Yah I was confused too at first. Then I asked my Dr then and she told me it's different for the hospitals. :)

Haha its confusing at first, but after awhile it makes sense.

For cleavage stage embryos (day 2-day 4), a grade is given to them based on their appearance (degree of fragmentation, cell number, cell size and regularity etc). For kkh, grading system used is 1-5 (5 being the best). For nuh, a good/fair/poor scale is being used. For tfc, the grading system is also numerical, with grade 1 being the best.

For blastocysts, the Gardner blastocyst grading system is used most commonly, with the number indicating the expansion, and the two alphabets indicating the grade of the inner cell mass and the grade of the trophectoderm respectively. Some hospitals might not give you the grade of the blastocyst in this format, but if you ask specifically for it, they can still translate it for you to this form.

Bear in mind that the grades of our embryos are only based on snapshots of one moment in time, and a say 7-cell day 3 embryo can be an 8-cell in the next second. We get caught up with the gradings and worry alot about them, but remember, even an embryo deemed to be of “poorer” grade can still become a healthy baby, so we gotta have faith in our embryos!

I totally agree with this. I bfp-ed with an average grade d2. I was very disheartened when my Dr told me it's an average embryo. But when I look at my son now, there's nothing average about him and the joy he brings! Early this yr, I failed with a d4 excellent quality one. So don't be obsessed about numbers and grading.

Get the right formula for yourselves, ladies. For myself, I can never succeed with fresh transfers. My BFPs stemmed from frozen cycles of D4 and blastocyst. For my friend, she can only do fresh cycles, never frozen ones. Keep trying to get the right formula for yourself. IVF, afterall is trial and tested, trials and tribulations..

Each uterus reacts differently, so don't fret over D2, D3, D4 and blastocyst.

Every embryo is a good embryo :)

i just wonder why the embryologist say they will only freeze when reach blastocyst. what if my embryo never made that stage how ?

maybe she could have put it in a better way like we will only freeze embryo if it continues to grow on day5 for example.

Hahaha thanks for your word of advice towkayneo! I've been thinking fet doesnt work well for me too since I've failed 2 FETs of good grade blastocysts! Am thinking to do a fresh transfer this time

Hey ladies, I'm new here :) I've been checking out this forum thread daily and I've found all your replies so encouraging and helpful. So I thought I'd sign up and jump in!

I've done three IUIs, and had my first FET (Day 6 blastocyst) last week. All negative, including today, when I went for my blood test in the morning. So it's not been too great a day ):

Wanted to know if anyone has gone right into their next FET cycle right the very next month beginning from when their period arrived after a negative?

I was quite hopeful about this FET actually, as my lining had been 10mm on the day of the scan after two weeks of taking Progynova and my doctor said the lining looked good on the day of transfer. But nope. I'm guessing that there might have been something inherently wrong with the blastocyst? What do you ladies think? Anyone ever got a positive from a 'satisfactory' (my doctor says this means average) blastocyst that was 'partially re-expanded'?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

i have been following fertility groups in the US besides what we have here. as you know US does pgs and pgd.

there are patients with perfectly fine blastocysts that come back with poor pgs/pgd results.

likewise for blastocysts with poor grading which turn out fine.

i would want to say good luck on your next transfer :) wish you loads of it

They will quickly ask you to go down to NUH for transfer, but I know some overseas clinics do not entertain anything that is not a blastocyst.

Yeah, a better communication mode is desired, in this case.

Why did you head straight to FET? Usually docs will let you try fresh transfers first before frozen.

A few general things to look out for when doing FET: Embryo (I am a firm believer of blastos) and lining (Please make sure lining is clear from hydrosalphinx fluid, growths etc and at least 8mm. Ideal would be 10-12mm, nothing too thin, nothing too thick). Can work on the lining by drinking soya bean milk, red bean soup and food high in protein.

Thanks for the information your encouragement :) Fingers crossed, and jiayou for yours too! Saw your earlier replies that you're with NUH. Me too!

i am with prof wong.
i got dr shakina for cover duty she is so warm.

Ohh i see! Yeah Dr Shakina is really sweet. I was quite sad when I saw her after my negative FET blood test and she gave me a hug and said that it may take a bit longer but we'll get there. I found that really encouraging, cus sometimes the journey can feel so long and discouraging.

Anyone did or doing endo scratch? Do you know the cost? Does Prof Wong do/support this procedure?

Me! On my next FET cycle. Oh I didn't know that there was an additional cost involved for that, but thanks for the heads up.
Not sure about what Prof Wong says as I've never met him before. My RE says that the evidence to support endometrial scratching is usually from fresh cycles, and inconclusive for FETs. But she says no harm giving it a shot for my next FET so I said yeah let's try that. Hope the info helps :)
