Hi ladies Can anyone share the average or max cost of IVF in NUH, SGH and KKH? Are they the same throughout? KKH was max 15k, is that right? Anyone has done their tests at KKH and decided to do their IVF treatment at another hospital?

So far I'm not a fan of KKH but doing the tests there so thinking of switching to NUH as they offer the genetic disorder testing.

Many thanks!

My fresh cycle came up to about slight above $15k before the necessary deductions with SGH.

Hi, anyone has done frozen embryo in your first try ? Is it better than the fresh embryo?

Me! I have FET during the first try because of OHSS risk...transferred 1 day 3 embryo but was not pregnant...did FET again with 2 blastocyst and got BFP! not sure which one is better..i jus follow what the gynae said:)

Went for ivf counseling and tests. Thinking of starting ivf in nov cycle. Any advice on what I can do to prep myself for a more successful ivf for these two months?

Hey Salgoodies,

Just want to clarify, actually all 3 hospitals (KKH NUH SGH) offers "genetic disorder testing". The official term is PGD. It's just that the only lab in Singapore is inside NUH. So all 3 hospitals will send the embryo biopsies to the lab in NUH. NUH CHR is a separate department from NUH PGD lab.

Cost-wise, all are about the same. For example, you'll find some posts saying NUH counselling is cheaper, KKH counselling costs $300+, but then in the end, the bill all adds up to be about the same. Best to read up more about the doctor and process you will be more comfortable with.

Ahh thank you. Right now because we went through the subsidy channel, we got Dr Jessie at KKH. After my polyp removal surgery (hysteroscopy), we can start IVF. I am thinking of switching to Dr Sadhana, paying private rates for consultation. At least all the tests are already subsidised. Anyone has done this? Dr Jessie is fine but if I'm paying for so much, why not ask for the best?

Hi! Goodluck to u! Today is my 4th day but i hv no symptoms, but just really slight cramp. Quite worried that my embryo not implanting I did my fet on 4th, r urs on 3rd?
Ya~ mine is 3rd day Transfer.
Transferred on 29th Aug. Good luck to u too. I had cramps during e 1st 3-5days~ now 2nd week.

Hi just joined the ivf program with NUH. Can I check for the em transfer can it be done in the afternoon? Thank you!

Hey. Anybody knows how we can change doctors at KKH? I've gone through one failed cycle and just thinking of seeing a different doctor for opinions before starting on my next.

Also, my current doctor don't really explain much. Just do, then fail, then ask to try again. I previously asked about alternatives and she said not to waste time. I asked about increasing the chances of a successful cycle the next round, she said can't do much, just by luck.

Not sure if I'm being petty or what but I would appreciate better explanations, right?

Hi dear! May I know who is your current doctor?

I am sure you can request to change as each cycle is new, with the exception that you can use existing eggs (if any) instead of injecting the meds all over again. As IVF is considered as private patients, you can change for sure!

I wish to change my assigned doctor and switch to Dr Sadana as soon as my surgery is completed.

Your current doctor is probably right but when we seek for an IVF doctor, we are essentially looking for a specialist with great bedside manners, one who makes us feel comfortable and is assuring. So definitely change!

Hi everyone,
I'm new here......I have been trying to conceive more than 10 years and have tried 2x IUI and 3x IVF (Fresh and Frozen Cycle) in KKH which all failed. I almost gave up and feeling very disheartened. In April this year, I went to private dr Roland Chieng and we went through all the test and he said everything is good and he don't see any problem on us (which KKH doctor cannot explain why all the cycles failed). I did my egg retrieved in April and have about 24 eggs but only 4 have turned to Day 5 blastocyst (2 Good grade and 2 above average grade) considered very good. I did my FT in Aug and doctor insisted us to transfer only 1 blastocyst so we followed doctor's instruction. April to August, I also went for TCM acupuncture weekly before FT. First time did my IVF with Dr Roland and I am 6 weeks pregnant now and heard my baby's heartbeat yesterday and was super excited. Finally!!! after 10 years of trying.

So to all ladies, DO NOT GIVE UP and believed in yourself that it will happen!

Hi dear! We have yet to go for our consultation but we are aiming for end of a Oct as well All the best!!

Hi All, just wanted to check what is the cost of IVF if done privately in SG?

Current doctor charges SGD 25K for 1 cycle which is way beyond our affordability. We would also likely need to factor in 2/3 cycles cost given the % success rate per cycle.

Both husband and I are PRs, hence no subsidy/ grant...Considering JB or SG though prefer Sg for the convenience of not having to travel far.

Just failed first SO IUI and will try a second one this month. Somehow not so hopeful hence thinking of IVF now.

Fresh IVF cycle in any government is about S$15 as private patient. they’re good enough, short waiting time during each visit.

Hi dear, so for all three public hospitals in Sg (KKH, NUH, SGH), they do offer private rates for foreigners and walk ins (Singaporeans). In KKIVF Centre, it is roughly 16k per fresh cycle. Of course, depending on individuals, the range varies. All three are significantly cheaper than private hospitals/clinics. Bear in mind that the subsidy are only for tests (which will be done prior to IVF) and consultations. Once they give u the go ahead and transfer you to the IVF Centre, you are considered as a private patient, regardless of nationality. The only difference is the government co funding grant and Medisave. Hence further consultations, tests, medicines etc done at the IVF stage have no subsidy rates. In conclusion, just go to any of the public hospitals to seek IVF treatment - their IVF package rates are significantly lower.

My gynae ask me to try to do in Oct.. but I not sure if never do acupuncture .. how will my results be.. anyone of u here if never do acupuncture got succeed in IVF? May I know if anyone here got any diet control as well ?

Honestly I have never heard of acupuncture treatment with IVF until I joined this group. 3 friends of mine have successfully delivered babies without acupuncture treatment.2 overseas, one at KKH.

I heard of cases when embryo that is not too good transferred on D2 or D3 can still result in a pregnancy to healthy baby. I also heard embryo that is average or good grade could not survive to D5 blastocyst and result in no transfer.

I understand for some, they just want to ensure positive pregnancy rather than ended in miscarriage or disappointment later, so they rather have a blastocyst that can make it to D5 at least.

But it had me thinking for those scenarios when doctor recommends to wait til blastocyst for those not so good embryos, are we putting the embryos at risks when every embryo could have some chance to conceive.

HI, my gynae asked me to decide for a D3 or D5 transfer. He counselled me on the day of ER:
1) You have 4 eggs retrieved. I cannot promise that all 4 will fertilise and unable to determine their quality.
2) I have patients who success in D3 transfer. I also have patients who are unsuccessful with D5. There is no human intervention for implantation.
3) Assuming all your 4 eggs will fertilise and you are prepared to transfer 2, if you chose D3 transfer, are you prepared that they may not lead to a positive?
4) If you chose D5 transfer, are you prepared that they may not survive till D5 which may lead to no transfer at all.
5) When you begin this IVF journey, you understand the success rate. You have tried your best and you body responded well to the stims. No matter what is your decision, you cannot blame yourself for making the wrong decision. If you did so, there is no point trying IVF. There is no right or wrong decision, only the best decision at that time given your circumstance.

As i have low ovarian reserve and poor egg quality, i did a D3 transfer. I didn't succeed but i have no regrets.
I had the best team of doctors and tried my best. I am glad that i have 2 frozen embryos waiting for me (i didnt have for my 1st fresh cycle). I accept that fact that my 2 frozen may not survive the thaw process when i decide to do frozen transfer.

That is GD news ! How many times they do ?
The two who did overseas were successful on their first try. The one who did in Sg succeeded in the 2nd try. Overseas have twins since where we are, they believe in saving as many embryos as possible (hence 2 fertilised embryos placed inside the womb instead of one, if my terminology is correct). Sg has a baby girl.

That could be some of their protocol, depending on the number of eggs retrieved as well. Thats exactly what happened to my case, had good amount of eggs retrieved , but the hosp only called on me on d5 (my supposed day of transfer) to say all did not grow to blastocysts and were not good quality in the first place. I also wished there were some chances that they can do also D2/3 in such cases ,maybe it can survive and grow in womb instead of the lab.

I was not given this type of counselling, tho I was given scenario option. It would have helped a little. Everything just went so quickly after ER. May I know which hospital/gynae did you visit?

Did anyone try medicated FET with KKH? Could you walk me through the process please?
I am given norethisterone to take for 2 weeks as my period is messed up. Was told to call IVF center once my period is here. So what happens then, after 2 weeks of the medication, menses will come and what's next.

Must i take norethisterone for 2 weeks? Would it be ok if i take it for 10/12 days?

Reason i am asking because i am hoping that i can do the transfer mid Oct and clear my HL before i start my new job in Nov.

I went to private gynae for my 2nd fresh. He partners with Tow Yung Clinic and Thomson Fertility Centre. I had my procedures done at TFC and went back to his clinic for the discussion.

Is it common for Low amh females to do d3 instead of d5? It’s a norm?

I am not sure if its a norm. When i did my 1st fresh with KKH, i was told to do D5 transfer (no choice given to me and i was asked if i wanted to proceed with the transfer given the limited embryo quality).
This 2nd with private gynae gave me an option. i made the decision then.

I like your thought process. I have low ovarian reserve as well and I did a fresh transfer with a D5 embryo. It is true that once you do an ET no human intervention will occur.

Unfortunately I ended up with a silent miscarriage last week. At 9 weeks my baby’s heartbeat was gone. It was bitter but it’s something that no one can predict because my hormones were rising consistently until my last blood test it came tumbling down overnight.

During an IVF journey you need to trust your gynae and the team that they are doing their best and giving you their best advice. Most of it is up to fate.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum but not new in ivf.
I have tried 3 times in ivf after my first son was born 3 years ago.
1st ivf i hv one blastocysts below avg transferred but resulting in chemical pregnancy.
2nd ivf i tried 3 months later resulting in 2 embryo freezing in day 3 but couldnt grow after thawed.
3rd ivf tried this month but also failed in poor quality embryo. I have taken fertlity supplements and fertility massage but my embryo quality is still bad. Im desperate to know wat other methods i can try which anyone of u has succeeded in improving embryo quality.
Im 41 years old btw which time is not on my side.
Any comments is appreciated.
Thanks

My gynae prescribed supplement Revosit and prenatal vits to improve the egg quality. I was given 2 shots of Ovidrel to trigger ovulation during fresh cycle. I am not sure of the effectiveness.
A big tight hug to you.

I also failed 2 cycle of fresh ivf cycle due to egg quality,my embryo cant even reach blastocyst stage, its always day2/3 transfer.

After this 2 failed cycle, i tried to take supplements like, coq10 (400mg a day), royal jelly, fish oil for 3.5months before embarking to my 3rd cycle. I did improved my eggs and my embryos finally reached to blastocyst, but was not able to transfer during this cycle as estrogen is high.

Im starting my FET cycle, hoping that will give me a BFP. Finger cross!

Goodluck to us..

Wish all the best

So how many blastocysts did you have?

I was thinking of taking chinese herbs and acupuncture.

Any side effect for 400mg? I only took 200mg. Wat brand did you buy?

I got 4 blast when my 2 failed cycles only able to have 2 embryos survive each cycle day2/3 which transfer on me.

On my 2nd cycle i also diligently on chinese medicine and accupuncture in AMK Dr Zou, but unfortunately didnt work for me. But maybe have different effect from other people.

So far i have no side effect on the coq10 ubiquinol, i just try the best i can with all this supplements, I bought it in iherb. Also take pre-natal vitamins...

Give minimum 3months before start a new cycle.
