think the diff btw IUI and SOIUI is that for IUI, we need to take oral medicine (clomid) and as for SOIUI, we need to inject ourselves with Puregon from day 2 of menses (till day 7 or 8, depending on how u respond to the injection). Gynae will ask you to go back clinic on day 10 or after to scan the follicles, however if there are more follicles, there might be a chance to convert to IVF (in case of multiple births). The most expensive part will be the injectibles because each individual is different (roughly est to be ard $1k or more). If the SOIUI is to be performed few days later, gynae will give you HCG to ask a GP to administer the jab for you (time to be prescribed by the gynae and must adhere qt strictly). Gynae will also let you know when must your hubby produce the sperm, as they have to wash the sperm etc..after that, they will perform the SOIUI for you, its the same procedure for IUI, u just lie on the bed and gynae will use a fine catether to introduce the sperm in, after that to rest on the bed for 20mins. You also have to try on your own on that nite itself (a must) but no harm trying on other nites too, can increase your chances. You can ask gynae for 1-2 days mc and will be given Progestrone tablets to consume, you can have a pregnancy test done 14 days later to see if you are pregnant.
Just did my SOIUI in Jun07 and hope its still fresh in my mind.
