I have just give birth on Apr 13. Begining first 2 week my girl will latch on for breast milk and on the 2nd week due to I having sore nipple and stop let my girl to latch on. Only pump out using Ameda breast pump.

Begining I still able pump 2.1/2oz breast milk. After 3rd week it become 1oz. Now I back to work and only be able to pump 4 times a day.

I been trying to increase my breast milk since 3rd week. But no matter how I try each time I pump out only 1oz or lesser. Now my girl totally don't want to latch on (not too sure when she grow older will latch on).

Please help to advise how can I increase the breast milk. As I been trying hard to maintain and hope one day can increase my breast milk.

Thank you

Hi there. Your girl is one day younger than my boy. I too had low supply but managed to get it up and on tbf now. I have difficulty letting down to thepump so my pumping vol was never good. The fastest way to up your supply is to latch your girl cos her demand will signal your brain to produce more. However u may need to get a lactation consultant to help teach your girl latch. How do u know she doesn't latch? It will be difficult to increase supply now that u are working but u can make use of weekend and off days to build on it. Taking supplements like fenugreek may help as well. U can pm me if u wanna learn more.

Yes, I agree with blackcanary. Direct latching is the best way to stimulate milk supply. I know when my girl latches, let down happens in a matter of seconds, but when I pump, it may take up to a minute to reach let-down. And proper latching is very important for proper transfer, I'd say find a good lactation consultant to solve the problem asap. You can make appointments for them to go to your house after working hours if you can't take time off during the day...I saw the lactation consultant about 5times before I was successful...

Pump as often as u can, weekend or night time after work? Maybe each time is not a lot, but for the day, total volume should increase slowly. By a week, u should get much more than before.

Drink more liquid. Water is ok, but soup will be more nutritious :) rest well! Dun stress! Stress will affect supply too. No matter wat, your gal still got formula to fall back on. Listen to music to relax.

I took some fenugreek last time. It helps. But I din take it for long, just 2-3 days.

have u tried using double pump to increase milk supply? double pumping = gives ur body 'instructions' that ur body needs more milk to feed 'twins'
or have u tried using hot compress to encourage milk flow?
some supplements like fenugreek, goat's rue, domperidone (motilium) & oatmeals work wonders for some mummies!

good luck! strive on :)

How long do u pump each time? Are u using a double pump? How much water are u drinking? When did u start dragging your pump intervals? are your pump intervals equal now?

All these questions will help us help u better. Right now i suggest pumping for min 30 mins each breast. Take 9 capsules of fenugreek per day (safe for bb). if you can get ur hand on motillium (prescribed med that is safe for bf-ing), that would help too. Drink at the very least, 3L of water a day. A cup of hot drink just before u start pumping and during ur pump might help with letdowns.

Your baby should be about 18 wks old now. Kinda hard for you to increase ur supply unless u are very willing to work hard for it. if u are, i suggest to increase the number of times you pump a day, back to 6xs a day.
