Hi, most pharmacy have this but Im not sure if I got the spelling correct.. cost abt $20+

Kids with Eczema usually need to use hypoallegic items including bath products.. i only use mustela and cetaphil in the past when bathing her then apply physogel after shower.

have u seen a paed before to seek adv?

Will ask my mum on the frog thing..

My gal had bad eczema when she was a baby. I did 2 things - use organic products e.g shampoo, moisturiser etc cos' no chemicals, therefore gentler to the skin. I also changed her milk powder to soy. Some kids with eczema problems cannot take to cow's milk well. After that, her eczema was much more manageable. Just sharing, hope it helps

I tried using the calendula cream for my gal's face for a few days... it cleared. Have u tried that? It is also good for intensive repair of nappy rash..

hihi..I took my girl to a skin specialist and he prescribed Eiffort and an intensive moisturizer....it did wonders to her skin.

She scratches a lot and had many bumps on her neck area and back. It cleared up by the third day.

PM me if you need the contact.

Take care..

hi,
my boy recently had eczema with fungus infection (dry skin plus lots of small bumps) and it was spreading from his wrist. Told him to the doc and was prescibe with a very effective cream - COMBIDERM. Needs a presciption to purchase it from the phamacy.

hope it helps those with eczema problem.

princessmw, is ur doctor from bukit batok the one near the Dunearn Secondary School?
Heard he's quite well known to treat eczema too. Brought my gal to see him as well... coz her skin was also red and itchy... ended up he prescribed steriod cream for her. I asked him is it a must to use steriod, is there any alternative? He told me for ecezema, the only solution is steriod cream. Other cream proven good, but long term will result in skin cancer.
Was so worried and asked him how long will eczema last? He told me typically will last till they out-grow it, maybe during their teenager years... sigh!!

Ended up, i'm still not convinced.. so did my own research... and bought 2 things for my gal:
1. California Baby Aloe Vera Cream
2. California Baby Bodywash
With these 2 items, her eczema cleared up in 2-3 days... now no more red and itchiness.

Mummies, you can give it a try too.... can buy california from luckyvitamin.com or drugstore... Quite effective..

There is no known cure for eczema.

The only way is to keep it under control and hope they outgrow it. Knowing the triggering factors will help to keep it under control. Like weather, food etc.

Steroid cream will help to relieve itch and to keep the patches dry, long term usage will thin the skin. An anti-bacterial cream will help to keep infection away which is necessary for the patches to heal.

My eczema is now under better control, after using a blue cream "Omillient" and its bath gel. I used to used Physiogel AI cream, not as effective on me. Both can be brought from guardian. I saw slight improvements after 3 days of usage. Of course, it doesnt cure me, but the red spots are reduced and most are gone, the old scars seemed lighter. And most imptly, no new "spots" came out. And I could feel the skin on my legs not as tight and dry as before.

Have to moisturise every time after bath. Do not use fragranced bath, powder etc. Use the anti-bacterial cream after moisturing, then put some steriods.

All parents will wish not to use steriods on their kids, but sometimes have to weigh the current situation. If always scratch, the patches will not recover, scars will result more likely and take longer to go away.

Different bodies will react to diff products. So you have no choice but to keep trying. A very tiring process I know, you will feel as if there is no way out. But no choice.

Linda,

My baby girl has enzema as well but not serious.

Please do not let him use steroid, is toxin and lots of side effect.

Pls stop him from cow's milk, let him take organic products. be more cautions of what he eats.

Must apply moisturiser and special shampoo which i can't recall the name. it works for my baby.

i brought her to see kinder clinic. Doc prescride her with steroid. she used twice and stop it after knowing this is harmful.

i am extra careful about what my girl eats.

You might want to find out coconut oil and Camellia Oil.

If you buy good quality coconut oil and camellia oil, they can be consumed and apply on skin. It is very very very good and help for enzema.

u may go to this website.

I know this doctor thru the taiwanese "tong fan billy"

Had use its products too.

Not selling anything here. just to share my experience.

Hope this helps.

Hui lng, ur QV is bath oil? Cos bath oil (I think) is better (even my hb got converted).

If all kinds of moisturiser cannot work, u can try this 'MLM' product called Renew (white and blue color bottle/tube). Its adult moisturiser though.

Last time when my gal has eczema, the polyclinic nurse suggest we switch to Nan HA. That plus the Renew, clear her eczema, though she still scratch herself esp when she sleeps. I am now using California Baby to 'maintain'.

Hope it helps.

BTW, steriod cream will thin the skin in the long run.

Hi Ling
TCM is good, but must be patient. Cos can see effect after long run. I tried too but I wasnt patient. :p

Firstly, ascertain which type of ezcema your child have. Does he have small spots all over his body? Or patches which are wet and ozzing and coin like? Or Scaly and dry like snake skin?

In any event, I must clarify that my kids do not have eczema, but me since about 5 years ago.

If your child is young, and tend to scratch in the night, try to wear silk mittens for him. Anithistamines helps if the itch is bad. But not recommended for long term usage.

For diff products, do not mix them to use. Use them consecutively for at least 1 week to see if there are improvements and always use one product at a time so you know which is helping.

I used to refrain from steroids creams and stuff. But, I ended up staining the sheets, my clothes, the office chair, carseat, everything cos the patches were all over the back of my legs. I saw a GP, she gave me an anti bacterial cream (non steroid), and a steroid cream. after 3 days, all the wet patches were gone. So now I maintain with moisturiser and if necessary, then apply steroids. So you might wish to ask your doc for anti bacterial creams.

Things to note:-
1) There are many types of ezcema. Treatments will depend on which type.
2) Using hot water to bathe will worsen the situation. Use lukewarm water, if not cold.
3) Pat dry, instead of rub dry.
4) Use non-fragrance, non soap products like QV, Cetaphil, Omillent etc. Even Johnson and johnson will make me itch.
5) Trial and error on the best moisturiser that works for your child. What works for others might not be for your child, so try and try and try. Always moisturise after bathe.
6) Wear cooling cotton clothes.
7) Avoid humidity.
8) Drink plenty of water to hydrate the skin.

Any recommendation for bath oil ? My PD prescribed Demavine bath oil, but quite ex. i switch to QV bath oil, find it not oily enough.

Anybody got good & affordable brand to recommend ? Thanks.

Thanks Linda for your infor. I presume you are using the normal shampoo and not the "special" shampoo meant for sensitive skin.

I'm also looking for shampoo for my baby cos his hair scalp is sensitive too. But i can't use the bath oil for his head cos it's too oily.

Anyone can share what shampoo do they use for their baby with ezcema. thanks.

HI Hui Ing
Me too will scratch "unknowingly" when asleep and bleed. It is impt to have the antibotic cream to apply on the wounds that bleed cos fear of infection. Once infected, it takes longer to heal.

Hi SWM
I read from the website that Oilatum range have shampoo too, though I have not used it before.

jan jan

i just started him seeing TCM stil can't say good or not coz he was sick so i stop the medicine fron TCM. but i heard one mummy say TCM will see the result slow...

Antibiotic cream is prescribed by GP. Normally given when forms of infection can be seen like persisent red spots, or oozing spots. However, I feel that I react diff to diff brands. It is also trial and error which is best suited.

Re: TCM
Personally I still feel that TCM is good in long run cos it helps to improve the body internally. Longer time to see effects but results normally are longer lasting. Best to see both at same time.

hi

one mummy mention that doctor say using (other cream proven good, but long term will result in skin cancer)

is it truth....very worry

Hi, I have 2 bottles of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (473ml) for sale at $14 each. This cleanser is recommended for baby's daily bath by the paediatrician, and I overstocked on it.

The Cetaphil website describes this product as "recommended by Dermatologists for years for people with special skin needs like acne, rosacea, or eczema because of its gentleness. Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser is gentle enough for children, teens and adults. "

Expires in Oct 2009, collection at Kovan station only, interested parties please PM me.

My son had mild eczema since young..other than using the creams to ease the itch, I make sure that the things he gets in touch will not irritate his sensitive skin further.. I came across this all natural bean pillow..the covers are dyed using plant dyes and seem to have good effect on babies with sensitive skin. My son has been hugging them to sleep and the eczema has not acted up since..

I recommend Dr. Ong Swee Ling from Yong Kang Medical Hall. Tel: 62726400.

She has a masters and Phd in TCM from Nanjing University in China and used to work for Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Her charges are very reasonable.

She even has a blog where she posts about the cases she has treated etc... There are some cases on eczema you can read about.

Dear mummies,

Do u use any special laundry detergent for your kids that has eczema? My girl has mild eczema but recently got worst bcos of the super hot n humid weather. She was prescribed fucicort, Physiogel intensive cream and cleanser. I read in some websites that I should not use softener for her washing. So I wondering whether should also change the detergent.

Appreciate your advice.

To solve eczema, you need to first identify the cause. If cannot, then you need to balance your own immune system. Those with eczema is having some mild immune system problem.

PM me if you wish to know more.
