Hi all,

I have just done my laparoscopy to discver i have severe endometriosis, adenomyosis and blocked right tube. My gynae in KKH is Prof EH Tay. Prof told me he only managed to clear my rt tube and took away some endo cells but cannot take out the growth adenomyosis unless the womb is taken out. The growth is growing together with the womb and is abt 5 cm. I will be seeing him in early april to discuss my condition. I think he will arrange me to see an IVF expert and i am concerned if the expert is not Dr SF Loh, how can i persuade him to put me under the care of Dr Loh in a nice manner. Didnt want to discredit Prof Tay's advice.

hui

I think is better not to disclose Dr Loh's personal emails in public WITHOUT his consent.

Of course Dr Loh is a good doctor, I am sure that he is willing to offer his help to other sister who is not his patient if he can. But it does not means that we have the right to do that just because he give us the convenience to e-mail him.

teobaby

The best is you go to see Dr loh in person cos via e-mail, you may not able to clear your doubt on the infertility problem. This is because he needs to see you to understand you and your hb past medical history then he can give you the best solution. To fix the appointment, just call the appointment centre and tell them you want to see Dr SF Loh.

Good luck to you.

hi ladies..wanted 2 booked tps 2 c dr loh but unfortunately he won't b cing at tps 4 this short period of time m they oso dunno when he will c intps.so of just booked at his clinic

Mika,
Is it? my appt to see Dr Loh at TPS is 2morrow 31st Mar.
743929.gif

You mentioned just book at his clinic. May I know where is his pte clinic??

Mika

Don't worry, basically everything is the same, except the price(in TPS, you have to pay S$6.00 more)and you have to go to take your medicine in pharmacy if you see him in clinic D while TPS is one stop service. That all.

Good luck.

Mika,
For update. I've already seen Dr today and my next appt is next month. He is still seeing patients at tps. At tps, if you are seeing Dr on Sat, you may need to collect medicine from the pharmacy, unless on weekdays evening then it provides 1 stop service. However, Q to see DR Loh is very long at tps( no difference from clinic D) and he looks busy, waiting time is 1 hrs plus. Just be prepared.

Hi,

Agree that the waiting at TPS is long. Not sure whether i'm sensitive or not. The last time i c dr Loh at TPS he seems to be very busy and rush in consultatn. Maybe cos Dr Sheila loh left he veri busy? He is a nice doc hope he will maintain the same gd standard...

Hi all, I went went to see Dr Loh today. Any endo/adenomyosis sufferer here under Dr Loh's care. I was thankful that the IVF expert that my gynae Prof Tay arranged is Dr Loh.

If i cannot conceive naturally within the next few months then IVF will be the way for me because of my adenomyosis condition.

stacy: is it he still cing at tps? when I called 4 appt d psc said he dun have any session at tps.i fix an appt wif him on 2nd may.

so how ur 1st appt? wat do they do on 1st appt?

really wish n pray dat all of us here will b successful..

Hi, anyone had lapro done in KKH. can i know how much is it. I went to thomson fertility and they told me taht i have to prepare 4k cash. is it the normal fees.

mika

I guess for those who are the existing patient of Dr Loh, we have no problem in booking the appointment in Tps. But as for the new patient, they may not be able to accept due to his limited sessions in Tps (only Wed nite, Fri noon and Sat morning) for the time being.

I was with him in clinic D before and currently have been transferred to Tps. Basically there is no much different cos I am seeing the same doctor.

So your appt with him is at clinic D?

Please bring all your medical history (including your hb) on your 1st appt. On top of my medical history, I did make a "medical summary" that since I started my fertility treatment for him. (like all the fertility experts, tcm doctor that I have visited, the timing of all the fertility treatments that I have been through). This was very helpful and he can know my medical background easily. So on the first appt, he can advise us that IVF is our only way to conceive. It save us a lot of time and we book the IVF with KK on the same day.

Ya, he will do a v scan for you too.

Hope the above help.

Hi Marissa

Not sure abt the price, but I was told the price of the lapro is determined by the doctor performed the lapro for you. For eg. if he is a senior consulatant, you definately will have to pay more.

Mika,
I'm with Dr Loh for quite a while and I'm now with 4 months pregnancy. Same as Koala, I used to see him at clinic D and I only transfer to see himat TPS when I am pregnant.

Wish you succeed!

Hi Stacy

Would like to check with you. Does Dr Loh do scans for you on your every visit? Does he also provide print outs every time? I heard this is available in almost all private clinics not sure if KKH provide such services?

hi Koala,

I have just made my first appt to see Dr Loh 2 weeks from now at the TPS. You mentioned abt getting medical history before seeing him. Do you mean we compile our own notes?

I was previously seeing Prof C at GlenE for close to 1.5 yrs with quite a number of failed IUIs. HB also did sperm tests there and the results were good. Am I supposed to get the past records from the nurses for my 1st appt with Dr Loh? ANy idea if they will allow?

Also, any idea if blocked tubes can be shown from x-rays?

Btw, what are the side effects of the IVF? I used to go for the SO-IUI and the bloating was terrible. I put on 2kg in 2 weeks time... Not sure if the same is expected for IVF. Maybe worse? :p

Jade

Just a simple summary will do. This is to help dr loh to know us better within the first consulatation.

I also with Chris Chen in 2003, not sure if he willing to release the copy of the records to you. I think as for blood test should not have any problem. Try to call the nurse up.

Yes, blocked tube can be shown from the x-ray. The medical term is "HSG".

You can read the the side effect of IVF from KKIVF website, basically, is ohss, overstimulation for our ovaries and resulting bloated, short breath and some sisters experienced heart burn too. But is depends on individual's health and condition.

My experience to share is the jabs are not horrible at all, the most difficult part is to control your emotion especially during 2WW, to wait for the results. So what we can do is to rest more and stay relax and happy.

The most improtant thing we can fulfill our baby dream one day. Right?

You can go to the below link to share with others sisters who are cycling.

Hi Marissa,

My estimated bill size is about $4k plus for a 4 day 3 night stay for laparoscopy done by snr consultant. Initially when i went for the admission office, they estimated the bill size of about $6.5k for B1 class with a little subsidy, medisave max claim abt $3.2k and i paid initially of $3.3k.Thin KKH will refund me once the final bill is out. I think it will be cheaper to do laparoscopy in KKH than in pte hospital. However the quality of the service may be better in pte hospital. It depends on what you are looking at when u plan to do laparoscopy.

I have friend who did hers in gleneagles and cost her abt 8k a few years back. So maybe u want to check if the fee 4k includes everything or just the doc's fees.

fond

Not every doctor in clinic D will do the scanning for the patient, so far, I think Dr Loh is the only doctor do this for his patient.

Hello Everyone,

I’m a new member to this forum. The support each member gives each other encouraged me to sign up.

My husband and I have been married for 8 years already and are still trying to conceive. Just recently, we have decided to consider undergoing IV procedure. We’ve made some research on good IV specialists and have been asking around for names. Can anyone please help me decide which specialist can best perform IVF. I’m already 35 years old and I understand that the success rate declines with age.

Here are the names of the specialists that we have short-listed:

1) Dr Christopher Chen at Gleneagles Hospital---but they say he’s very expensive. Can anyone have any idea how much it’ll cost doing IV procedure with him?

2) Dr. Sheila Loh at Raffles Hospital---I’ve read from the forum thread that she’s so busy. Will she have time for me considering that I’m not from Singapore?

3) Dr. Noel Leong at Thomson Medical Center---they say he is more senior than Dr. Sheila Loh and was her mentor at KKH.

4) Dr. SF Loh at KKH---how is he related to Dr. Sheila Loh? I’ve read very good reviews about him from the thread.

Would appreciate feedback on the four specialists. And an idea on the cost to do the procedure with each specialist will be very helpful.

Thank you very much for your help.

hi Marley,

I was with Prof Chen at Gleneagles previously. Never did IVF with him. But was doing IUI and 1 SO-IUI under him. Had 7 attempts and all failed. I don't blame him but perhaps there are issues with my egg fertilising the sperm. Anyway, he is expensive. For the 7 IUIs (incl 1 SO-IUI) + all the consultation + a laproscopy op, I spent at least 30K with him in 2 yrs. I left him finally because his nurse quoted me 25K for IVF which is totally out of my budget.

I am currently seeing Dr SF Loh at KKH the Private Suite and chose him because he seems to have quite high success rate. IVF at KK costs about 6-8K depending on the amount of puregon you would require. If you require higher dosage, you might need 8K-9K. I will be starting my IVF cycle next month. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You can also go to the other threads and read abt the comments/experiences of other sisters out there.

Hope this helps.

Hi Marlade,
in actual fact, you only need about $3k to $4K cash when you do IVF at KKIVF as the $6K of your 1st cycle is covered by your Medisave (2nd cycle - $5k and third cycle - $4K).
For me, I paid about $3k+ during the process and got a refund of about $1k+ after the deduction from Medisave. So, all in all, I only paid about $1.8k cash for the whole process.

I know this information is very important to you after you have spent so much money on trying to get pregnant. Hope this information will help you to make the decision asap as time is a crucial factor to your success.

By the way, I am with Dr SF LOH ast KKIVF and now with him at, TPS - The Private Suite, at KK for the monitoring of my pregnancy. I am having a singleton (30weeks) and this is my first try on IVF...

Good luck to you!

hi Jeni,

Testimonials from the successful sisters here are so encouraging and important to newbies like us - who have decided to embark on the IVF journey. It is the thought of that we may soon join you in motherhood (2nd time for me) that keeps us going.

Really inspiring to hear that you succeed on your first try. Really hope I can be as lucky as you.

Hi Jade,
I am sure you will be as lucky. I understand how you feel as I have been there myself. I really count myself lucky. I have also encouraged one of my colleagues to embark on IVf and currently, she is in her 2ww.
Don't hesitate to give it a try, Jade.
All the IVF mummies will be waiting for you to join us soon. We'll all provide you with the support you need... Jia you!

Hi Jade and Jeni,

Thank you so much for the valuable information. These really gave me a sort of confirmation. Today I was able to get an appointment with Dr. SF Loh scheduled in July. All tickets are booked and we are so looking forward to consultation day.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, Jeni. Take care. Hopefully, we can be as blessed as you are to be able conceive on the first try.

Wishing you all the best on your IV procedure next month, Jade. You too, take care.

hi

Jeni, thanks for your support. :) Have a smooth pregnancy. :) BTW, are you having a prince or a princess?

Marley, glad that you have decided. :) Wish you a successful and smooth IVF and may your dreams of having a baby be fullfilled soon.

Congratulations Jeni.

May I ask how old are you this year? I have heard of lots of successes in the forum but most seems to be younger.

I am 33 now and will be turning 34 end of the year. Hopefully, still can get some good quality eggs out from me :p

Hi all, am checking out some fertility specialist, seen all your good comments about SF Loh. He's the specialist in IVF, does he also do IUI? Can anyone provide me his TPS clinc no?

Hi Jade,
I was 30 years old when I did my IVF and now, I am 31. I think age does play a part but then again, I think luck too. So, don't let it affect you.
Is this going to be your first child or 1st try in IVF?

Babydust,
the number for TPS is 81217813. I am not sure whether he does IUI but I supposed he should. You can also see him in Clinic D which you will be charged slightly cheaper but you will have to go and collect your medicine from the pharmacy and the ultrasound scan will be done by the sonographer, not Dr Loh. You can make an appointment to see him at Clinic D through the appointment hotline at 62934044. You will be considered as private patient and not subsidised patient as there's no referral letter from polyclinic and you are choosing your gynae. Hope the infor helps.

Jeni - if we go polyclinc to get a referral, will we be referred to SF Loh or just any other doc?

I supposed we have to go to Clinic D if we are subsidised patients, but can we opt to go to TPS after we got the referral letter from Polyclinic? Sorry to ask so many questions.

Hi Babydust,
if you get a referral from polyclinic, you will definately pay a much better rate but you may not get to see Dr Loh who is a senior consultant. KK will assign any available gynae to you, you can't choose.

Yes, you will go to Clinic D if you are subsidised and so, you can imagine the waiting time. Yes, you can opt to go to TPS after that but then you will be upgraded as private patient.

Remember, as subsidised patient, you will not get to choose the gynae you want but of course, the charges you are paying is quite attractive.

However, if you are looking into fertility treatment, then I suggest that you do it fast and go straight to the point as time is crucial to the success of the treatment, especially if you are already in your 30s. Don't waste time going round the circle. This is just my suggestion. Hope it helps.

Jeni - thanks for the reply. I also tik i am pressed for time! Need to get it resolved and hopefully got bb dust fall on me soon.

Don mind if u can let me know wat are the issues u faced before u decided on IVF?

The IVF/ other treatment charges are the same for private and subsided patients?

Hi,
I have suspected PCOS based on my appearence, but through blood test, it stated negative. On top of that, I have one suspected blocked tube as when I was doing the HSG, I had spasm and hence, my gynae then was unable to confirm if I have the blocked tube unless I do another HSG but I was not interested and did not want to waste time. I did not go for Laparascopy as my hubby is against such invasive procedure. Together with the poor quality of my hubby's sperm and the amount of time that we have tried naturally plus the uncertain problems that I have, my gynae at that time told me that the only option left is IVF/ICSI. So, after discussing with my hubby, we have decided to take it up... It was only when I was about to embark on IVF/ICSI that I read about Dr SF Loh in the forum and decided to switch to him as the waiting time of my the other gynae is simply too long and now, she is no longer with KK. Hence, it is a good decision and a blessing in disguise.
What about you? You can try the other thread on IVF-Cycle buddies. Over there, you can get lots of support and information from the fellow sisters here who are cycling...

As for the charges,
I am not sure whether there is a difference between subsidised or private patients but if you have read what I have posted before for marley, you should roughly have an idea how much cash you need to have in hand. You can call KKIVF at 63941694 to check with them if there is a difference. By the way, to do IVF at KK, you need to be referred by the gynae at KK. They do not accept walk in case... They have a long queue and so, you should try to start asap. If you have already done a series of tests, just show them to your preferred gynae in KK and see if he or she will refer you straight for IVF if there is a need... Good Luck!

Jeni - thanks for reply!
I will see SF Loh first and see wats our condition and his recommendation before embarking. I hope IVF is my last resort. Btw ICSI have to be done together with IVF?
Are u are subsided or pte patient?

Babydust,
ICSI and IVF are basically the same thing except for the last part when the embryologist will inject 1 good sperm into the egg for the former whereas for the later, the embroyologist will introduce a certain amount of sperms to the egg in a petri dish and let the sperms do the penetration on their own. You will only need ICSI if the quality of your hubby's sperms is not good. The rest of the procedure wii be the same.

I am a private patient as I chose the gynae whom I want to see. I was seeing Dr Loh at clinic D until I confirmed my pregnancy then I switched to TPS till now as I want Dr Loh to do the scanning and I can collect the medicine from there and do not have to make a trip down to the pharmacy and queue for the medicine again. Please note that once you switch to TPS, you can't switch back to Clinic D, ok?

Jeni - how long is the wait at TPS compared to Clinic D?

I would prefer a one stop since the consulation is only difference by few dollars, any other difference besides waiting time, taking medicine and consulation fees? IVF done at TPS and Clinic D is the same rite?

Babydust,
I am not so sure about if there is any difference in the charges of IVF procedures of you are Clinic D patient compared to TPS patient. You can call KKIVF to check it out.

Jeni - will check it out. Btw, have fixed appt in jul to see Dr SF Loh. Really hope he can help us.

Babydust,
I was Dr Loh's IVF patient and now am pregnant with my first child. I am in my 3rd trimester. Don't worry. Dr Loh is nice guy and I am sure you are in good hands.

Babydust, no prob.
See you in the other threads!
