Chin Leng, PLS TAKE NOTE!!!

Dear Carole, thank you for your feedback to Chin Leng.

Just to clarify that before we create a BP directly in the BP thread, we have emailed Bee Lee:

Dear Bee Lee, we got an email from one of your users who asked if she could organise a bulk purchase for our products, was wondering what are the options available? As advertiser, should we organise for the users in our own thread or at the Bulk purchase thread, or do we leave it to the mothers who are interested?

And her reply was:

quote
As our advertisers, you are free to have BP organised for your products. You may choose to handle the organisation or pass to a member to organise on your behalf.

We strongly agree that moderators should be on the lookout (with the help of kind mummies like yourself) for those suppliers masquerading as users trying to sell their products here, in order to clinch sales without incurring any cost. We too, as advertisers, appreciate the effort by moderators and mummies to identify those threads.

As advertisers, we have paid a fee as part of our marketing efforts and with that, it definitely has to come with certain benefits. As for organising our own BP, it reduces ambiguity since a lot of times, the organiser has to contact us to answer mummies' query on dimensions, prices, etc. yet she/he does not benefit from organising the BP. In any case, fyi, BP is not (and definitely cannot be) the only way we sell our products.

Hi Chin Leng, we hope the above clarifies our position. Do advise us however if we misunderstood Bee Lee's remarks.

Thank You.

I understand that you are free to organise BPs, but doesnt mean u can do it in a BP thread under the mummies, right? Wont it be a better source for you, as those paid ADs are of a better noticeable sight and they have a special column? Moreover, you have already made the payment, dont you think its better to ride onto your own PAID advertisement provided to you.

As many mummies already flooding the BP threads, we just cant help but notice and bring this up.

Hi OnlyBabies,

I'm sorry that Bee Lee's reply was not precise and could have been interpreted in a few ways. As I'm aware of the guidelines (since I set or approve them), I understood implicitly what she meant to say. But for anyone not involved in the discussions, it is very logical to interpret the same way as you did.

Her reply was actually meant to say that other members are free to start a BP on your products and the coordination work can be done by the same member or yourself.

Previously, we had only allowed members to organise BP for our advertisers. BPs by genuine members (hopefully not business owners masquerading as members) risk being banned or removed at any moment once we conclude that it has violated our terms of use.

However, we understand the benefits to a BP if our advertisers were to coordinate and be involved in the BPs themselves, which was why we allowed advertisers to be involved in the BP directly after it was started by a genuine member.

We had wanted our advertisers to only have their threads in the business category so that they do not need to compete with the many other threads in the other categories. Our objective was to maximise the benefits enjoyed by the advertisers.

If we allow advertisers to start BPs, we are concern that users will then just focus their attention on threads in BP category and may not look at the business category. That is the dilemma we are facing.

Currently, we prefer advertisers to have their threads in the business category only but as I stated above, we are still in the midst of discussing if we should encourage advertisers to start their own BP.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and please feel free to e-mail me if you have any further queries. Thank you.

Regards,
Chin Leng.

Hi Chin Leng, thank you for your reply.

We do not have any issue on conducting BPs at either Business or Bulk Purchase threads, and feel free to move the BP thread to the appropriate one, if required.

Thank you,
Onlybabies

Hi CL,

Just happen to read all these postings. Just curious, on what kind of basis do you remove all those BP threads?
I happen to read Mrs Poh postings earlier and there are 2 threads stating similiar postings? I noticed there are various threads in BP indicating very clearly, the qty available and sizes left.

Why is one thread been removed, whileas the other thread can till survive?

Hi Elmoblogger,

I've already replied to your email. If the thread has been inactive for more than 14 days, then it is likely that it has been deleted. I'm sorry that we won't be able to restore the thread.

Chin Leng.

Hi Chin Leng,

Saw that the marketplace has been revamped. Really appreciate the effort to do such a major task.

However, I still feel that when some mummies want to organise BP, they should state the source of their supplies and apply for approval.

This is sure to add on workload for you and the rest of the moderators but if you don't implement this method, what's the use of revamping the marketplace?

How can you be so sure that mummies who have registered before Nov are genuinely organising BP for the rest?

Take this thread for example: http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/449156/579358.html?1163590806. I received the exact email and items from the supplier but the price is so much different then what this mummy has quoted. Where did the extra money go to? This is definitely something worth to think about.

1 BP thread maybe removed, but soon another one with the same BP item will come up again. If that's the case, wouldn't you and the rest of the moderators be wasting more time and effort to remove those threads again?

These are just my thoughts on this whole marketplace and BP thingy. If you think that I'm complaining because I'm scared to lose my biz so be it coz my biz doesn't only depend on mummies from this forum. I just want to bring out the point that revamping the marketplace is not the solution to stop mummies from earning money from those BP.

I agree with ohbaby. These are "suppliers" behind the scene who are tapping on the members to bring them business.

It's just not fair for them to use the convenience of BP sprees and kill some genuine sellers here.

Hi Ohbaby,

Thank you for your suggestion. You may like to know that we are looking into the suggestion. By restricting the access of BP/Spree and Sales thread first, we'll be able to stop people from registering another account just to participate in the above category after their account has been suspended.

It has come to our attention that many organisers are actually making a tidy profit from the BPs. Many of the items sold in the BPs, the price has been marked up from the price quoted by the suppliers. Simply put, our trust and the trust of many members in the forum have been abused.

As we've tried to focus our attention on developing SingaporeMotherhood, we are totally unaware of the business process of the suppliers with some of the BP organisers here. We chose to trust some of the organisers here but sadly, our trust has unfortunately been misplaced.

Regards,
Chin Leng.
