Hi jen, since your bb can take NUK teat then you continue with it lah. I agree that it's difficult to reason out with the elders. I normally don't bother to explain. Usually, I'll bring bb to my room and close the door. Then I'll just do whatever I deemed right to my gal. heehee....... I not sure if there's any funny smell from the defrosted milk leh. I just give my gal and she drinks it. I just pour the milk from the ameda bottles into the glass bottles I got from the hospital. I don't sterilize the bottles after every usage in office leh.

giggler, i have to admit my temper is not the best in the world... amongst my MIL's DILs, i have the worst temper... the eldest DIL very very good temper one... and the FDIL also quite mild tempered... haha... i am acherly very grateful she willing to do confinement and help me take care of bb oredi... i felt bad after showing her face last nite so i did say sorry to her today... even though, she continue her lamenting and "advices" but i just ignore lor... just that after too much, my dam will burst... =P *guilty*

GIRL, my baby still had jaundice at 6 weeks old, the bilirubin level was 272. after stop breastfeeding for a week, it dropped to 75. anyone has any idea if the jaundice will return now that i continue to breastfeed? my colleague tells me that "the liver has learnt" so the jaundice won't return, but the pd claims the jaundice will rebound.

frozen EBM does have funny pasticky smell. the smell will be stronger as it get older. The comparison chart is fresh BM (direct latch) is best, cold EBM is second and frozen EBM is last. Hence, that's why I will give my boy the freshest cold EBM as possible and try not to freeze too many got the nutrition value also drop as it gets freeze. I don't have fresh BM as I don't latch my boy on. Normally, I will only store two weeks of frozen EBM. I have thrown away frozen EBM about 3 wk to a month old twice total about 10 - 15packs of 130ml each pack away.

Latching and 2 pumps a day should be sufficient. Is your baby sleeping longer hours at night? If you want to store more milk, can pump whenever your bb sleeps beyond 3 hours.

Hi Emma, I started to tandem pump one week before I start work. Only managed to store abt 32oz and so didn't last long. I think only last for 1-2mths after I started working.

I need some advice on when I should start to establish a "routine"? cos now when I pump, it's ad hoc (as and when I like)... so maybe like that can get more milk cos accumulate mah... but once back to work, I worry every 2 or 3 hours expression may not get so much milk... can anyone please advice me on how you cope? thanx...

I'm alright already but I realise that my flow from the right breast has slowed down even since I had the milk blisters. It seems to come back but whenever I see whitish skin on nipple, I'll try and remove it quickly so it doesn't build up. Now my right side takes double the time to empty compared to my left side even though they let down at the same time. Been latching Ally on my right more often to try and increase milk flow but hasn't improved much.
Since Ally started on solids, 2 milk feeds have been replaced so she only drinks milk at 1pm and 7pm and 9pm. Getting really lazy to pump coz take so long to empty breasts so I just started latching her back on for the 7pm feed. In the past she drinks earlier so can't make it back on time.

girl, my gal seems to be going through the bottle rejection stage... first time we tried Avent teats and she scream and scream... second time i tried NUK teat and she manage to finish 40ml... but last night we tried bottle again with NUK teat and she only drank 20ml and started screaming again... hiaz... i'm really at a lost... please please share how you overcome it...

Need help from all the mummies! my boy dont like to drink milk from bottle. Im nurse him whenever I am @ home but now Im already back to work. Everytime he just reject to drink from the bottle, HELP what can I do now to help him drink from bottle as well as drink direct!! Im really worry abt his weight. He only drink less than 80 ml from bottle. If I nurse him he can drink for half an hour both side (it can be estimate around 100ml) . Every time I express out is around 100ml - 120ml, so I assume he drink around 100ml. can someone advise me wht can I do now? thx

Yes, now bb sleeps for about 5 hrs in the nite. Oh you mean to pump in the middle of the nite? I think it'll be tough for me to do that. Uno, usually by the time I reach midnite, most of the time, I'll feel a bit giddy liao, so I guess I'll rather rest. I dun seem to have xtra ss like you all do. My ss now seems just enuf. Manage to give my bb tbf for the last 2 days (with not much storage in the fridge tho). Hope that this can continue.

Yes, now bb sleeps for about 5 hrs in the nite. Oh you mean to pump in the middle of the nite? I think it'll be tough for me to do that. Uno, usually by the time I reach midnite, most of the time, I'll feel a bit giddy liao, so I guess I'll rather rest. I dun seem to have xtra ss like you all do. My ss now seems just enuf. Manage to give my bb tbf for the last 2 days (with not much storage in the fridge tho). Hope that this can continue.

There was once when i did not latch my boy for 2 days and no pumping also.SS also dropped drastically (only manage to get 30ml from both sides after pumping for 20 mins).After that I start pumping on a regular 3 hrly basis and after 2 days, the ss start to increase. I think latch on more often do help too.

5 hours is ok lah. Better to rest more. We've all been through your stage so feel free to ask qns and we'll definitely try and help so more bbs get to benefit from BM.

Ally drinks BM (latched) when she wakes abt 630 - 7am, 10am solids, 1pm EBM, 4pm solids, 7pm BM (Latched) and 9 plus BM (Latched).
Do you tandem pump in the morning? Thinking of stopping tandem pump in the morning coz it's extra and gets frozen but since she only takes one milk feed when I'm away, my 1 pump in office is sufficient. Scared that I store it away and it gets thrown away when it expires coz I haven't used any frozen BM for some time already. Dunno how to stop that coz usually one side is sufficient for her in the morning. How do you deal with that?

Hi baobei, I think EBM may not be as nutritious as latching direct but still better than fm lah. So keep it up!!!

ytr MIL let my boy try similac follow-on n he reject leh. dun want to suck, when spoonfed he make the vomit sound after every spoon. so MIL stop giving him as afraid he will really vomit all out which he would. called friso to request for sample. btw do u all know which fm taste the best? now i dunno how. coz in 2mths time will need to change him to 1yr old milk n the taste is diff from follow on. so if he get adjusted to follow on then have to change again. hmm.. to tbf till he is 1yr? my ss not alot, still can get by but just hoping he will take more.

me going to stop express soon, my ss is low as i only pump once a day, sometime lazy & i will not pump. but nite and moring i will still let him latch on ...

like yr gal, my boy will suck max of 5-10 mins. I think i have still have sufficient milk. as most of the time my breast will become vy hard if i did not pump @ lunch and after he suck, it become soft again

think it is a common problem feeding fm to bf babies esp those more choosy/fussy one. some babies dun have this problem. my MIL said this happened to all her 3kids including my hubby. all dun want to drink fm. MIL stopped bf when all her babies were 8mths old as menses returned n her ss no more. then 2 of her kids took brown rice with condensed milk. then the female baby took milo twice a day. hope my boy will like friso better. heh i expected my boy to face this problem as he is smart enough to differentiate bottle/brs, fresh ebm/frozen ebm etc hence giving us headache.

been mia from tis thread for a while. a few of my frens and colleagues oso facing the same prob as some of u where bfg bbs reject fm. one of them still trying brands and hvnt found one.

read somewhere dat frozen EBM smells and tastes diff from chilled EBM. some even reported it to smell and taste fishy. why nt try mixing some frozen EBM wif chilled EBM for a start and see if she takes to it well... then slowly increase amt of frozen EBM.
